“Grill it up” and a small giveaway

Hey everyone! Back to the grind, eh?? Hope your Monday is treating ya well so far 😀

I felt a little off yesterday after Saturday night’s shenanigans but I was so happy to make dinner with the pilot. We’ve started a habit of grilling on Sunday nights and it feels like such a great way to start the week 😉

We had sweet potato fries (seasoned with EVOO, sea salt, pepper, paprika and chili powder), veggie packs and baby bella mushrooms (with balsamic, sea salt, pepper and rosemary)

009

And the pilot plopped his organic grass-fed beef burgers in the middle. I almost cried happy tears when I saw that our Publix started carrying Greenwise meat because until now, I’ve had to get his carnivorous purchases out-of-town and freeze them. This makes life soooo much easier. He seasoned the burgers with jalapeno slices, worsteshechireshire sauce (does anyone else have difficulties with that word? I usually call it “worst” sauce), sea salt, pepper and stuffed them with pepper jack cheese.

010

He’s extra sweet about keeping his meat away from my veggies (TWSS?? Ahhhahaha). He uses separate spatulas everything! Whatta guy 😀

The finished product rocked my face off.

011

Zucchini, yellow squash, Campari tomatoes, asparagus

012

MUSHROOM! MUSHROOM!

013

Tater fries with Annie’s ketchup:

014

We even grilled some jalapenos in a foil pack:

016

And I ate allllll of them >:) You know I like my spicy.

After dinner, we went to get a tour of a kennel here that Viesa is going to stay at while the pilot and I drive to Oklahoma City. My aunt is going to watch Bella, but since Viesa wants to eat my aunt’s yorkie, we’re finding another place for her to stay since Megan (who is our Viesa-sitter) will be at school with me!! Lots of planning, but it’s all working out so far.

Tonight, I finally made some of this:

017

Summer Shape Up winners, your macaroons are in the dehydrator 😀

018

Mmmmm, macaroony goodness.

019

Speaking of macaroons…….

I just want to say thank you again for sticking with my bloggy post plastic surgery. It was a little weird getting everything switched over, and the Google reader disappearance, but now the bloggy’s in recovery mode. Special thanks to all of you who helped me get the word out about the re-subscribe issue <3 I hope you know how much I adore each and every one of you and thank you for making this such a FUN place to talk about food, fitness, mumbo jumbo and everything else. I started the blog on a whim -and because the pilot told me to “get a hobby”- and you guys have turned it into something so enjoyable and rewarding. Ok, mush part over.

Now, who wants some macaroons??

All you have to do is leave a comment and let me know if you’re a cake or ice cream person and what your favorite flavor is 😀

I love both dearly –chances are that if something falls into the “dessert” category, I’m a fan- but I’m definitely a cake person. My favorite homemade cake is flourless chocolate but a la box, I love FUNFETTI!!

******I’ll use a random number generator tonight at 9 EST to pick the macaroon winner, who can choose from blonde, chocolate, or almond butter-stuffed macaroons.

Aight, I’m out. I have some errands to run but I’ll see ya for lunch!

xoxo,

G$

  4. Samantha J on August 24, 2009 at 3:59 pm

I’m definitely an ice cream person! My favorite has always been classic chocolate, but I do sometimes like to jazz it up with bananas or peanut butter. 🙂

So full of creamy mascarpone tiramisu is the best of cake and ice cream! A hot cup of tea and a scoop of creamy tiramisu is the ultimate sweet treat.

  21. Kelly on August 24, 2009 at 5:04 pm

Hi! I am a cake person. I love love love Carrot Cake and Coconut Cake. Before I went 90% raw I would get them at Wholefoods. But, I am a coconut freak because I used to buy a pint from Coldstone and get Cake batter base w/ shredded coconut & and graham cracker pie crust (double on both!) Soooo yummy.

  22. Anna on August 24, 2009 at 5:13 pm

love the new blog & reading it daily!

i’m deffinately a cake kinda girl. i love love love red velvet cake, coconut cake, chocolate silk pie, coconut cream pie, carrot cake, tiramisu, funfetti cake, angel food cake, cobbler, my mom’s blueberry cake, and a delicious family czech recipe (my mom’s side is 100% czech) of a cake that is not overpoweringly sweet and heavy but just sweet enough and light, its a apple walnut cake, with a homemade healthy frosting (usually a two layer cake) oh and of course any sort of cheesecake. YUMMY!

  25. Kelly B on August 24, 2009 at 5:27 pm

CAKE and my favorite is coconut! My family makes me coconut cake every year for my birthday!

  26. Samantha on August 24, 2009 at 5:28 pm

Ahh. another shot at the macaroons! 🙂 Maybe one day! ha ha!

I will always pick cake over ice cream. Hands down, my favorite is traditional dense, southern pound cake ala my Grandma. Sadly, she’s in a nursing home now and can’t be on her feet and can barely use her hands so she bakes no more. My best friend makes one just as good though. Of all the baking I do, that’s one I can’t master. Second runner up would be what I made for our anniversary, a layer cake of red velvet cake + vanilla bean cheesecake with cream cheese frosting. Way too rich to eat much but a taste is amazing!

  27. Kim M. on August 24, 2009 at 5:33 pm

I’ve been wanting to try your macaroons for soooo long! Personally, I’d like ice cream and cake together. However, with the choice, between my favorite ice cream (cookies and cream) and the best cake I have ever had, milk chocolate cake with mascarpone peanut butter frosting topped with homemade peanut brittle (my sister made it for my birthday), I’ll take cake!

  28. Monica on August 24, 2009 at 5:36 pm

I guess I could say both because my FAVORITE dessert is ice cream cake! YUM! I love it with chocolate cake and chocolate peanut butter ice cream or cookies and cream. 🙂 Delish!

  29. AJ on August 24, 2009 at 5:45 pm

I would say cake, never been a real bandit for ice cream as there are not many non-dairy choices here. Definitely dark choc mud cake (insert Homer drool here)

  30. Catie on August 24, 2009 at 5:48 pm

thanks for putting so much time into the blog gina, i love reading it! i’m a huge ice cream fan…i like smores flavor and any frozen yogurt with fresh fruit:)

  34. mindy on August 24, 2009 at 5:55 pm

Ooh Ice Cream. Pinkberry is my fave, but for regular old ice cream, I always go with Mint Chocolate Chip!

  35. Ashley on August 24, 2009 at 6:05 pm

I’m definitely more of an ice cream person. My fav would have to be chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, with lots and lots of cookie dough in it! Mmm.

  36. Shelby on August 24, 2009 at 6:09 pm

I totally missed your blog post AGAIN! Finally, I updated my google reader so I could find this yummy giveaway.

I’m an ice cream person all the way. Mint Chocolate Chip please!

  37. Annabel @ www.FeedMeImCranky.com on August 24, 2009 at 6:10 pm

I am totally a cake person! I can’t lie — I am completely indiscriminate when it comes to cake flavor — or at least between white, yellow or chocolate. I do love some cream cheese frosting too!

  38. sue on August 24, 2009 at 6:23 pm

i’m a cake person- especially red velvet!

  39. Jane on August 24, 2009 at 6:27 pm

  40. michelle on August 24, 2009 at 6:34 pm

  43. Danielle on August 24, 2009 at 6:40 pm

I am definitely a cake person. My favorite would have to be my grandmother’s red velvet cake with homemade frosting…Yum.

  44. Madre on August 24, 2009 at 6:41 pm

I personally prefer Aunt Pinnie Cake!! Fluffy white cake with strawberry jam filling and vanilla frosting (all of it doctered up Aunt Pinnie style) I would like my macaroons “specially delivered” like the last ones I was lucky enough to receive! Love you, Madre

  45. Heather on August 24, 2009 at 6:43 pm

Your veggie packs and mushrooms look delicious! My veggies never get done enough when I do them in the pack — how long do you leave yours on for?? I guess I am just impatient!

Um, I want some macaroons!!!! I am definitely an ice cream girl if I can have coconut milk ice cream, but otherwise it’s cake so long as it’s moist with a frosting that isn’t TOO sweet. Actually, I’d rather have a brownie. Does that count? Haha. I love sweets regardless, as long as they’re vegan and not too bad for you.

  46. ferrellsove on August 24, 2009 at 6:51 pm

I am a cake person minus the cake really. Just give me a big-oh-tub of icing and I am one happy camper!

  47. Meg on August 24, 2009 at 6:54 pm

I’m definitely a cookies n’ cream ice cream type-girl. Either that or any ice cream with chunks of goodies in it 🙂

  48. Kelli on August 24, 2009 at 6:55 pm

    Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream!!!

I want to try your almond butter macaroons so bad!

  49. Jessica on August 24, 2009 at 7:04 pm
