Hobby of necessity (giveaway)

For me, there are two types of hobbies:
1.) the kind you really, really love and
2.) the necessary ones.
When I was younger, I decided I was going to knit. Some of my friends could knit, I thought it was cool and decided to give it a whirl. It lasted about 4 seconds. I have the patience of Bella waiting for chicken and knitting wasn’t something I needed a reason to do. It’s hot in Tucson and my beanies and scarves get worn about twice a year.
The hobbies I really enjoy: teaching fitness, Zumba, cooking, reading, dance, etc
Necessary hobbies: photography and scrapbooking
Photography is a necessary hobby for the blog… I don’t really like it, or know what the heck I’m doing. I take a picture in “P” mode, auto-adjust the colors if it looks weird, and post. Some people get warm and fuzzy talking about aperture and shutter speed, and alas, I am not one of them. Scrapbooking has become another necessary hobby since the Pilot has been deployed 3 times and we always make scrapbook pages, and since we have a little one on the way, I’ve taken to online scrapbooking. The day we got our maternity photos back, I made photo books for madre, nana and baby, and had them shipped out. Was it fun? Not at all. Am I glad I did it? 100%.
I could see the same thing happening with the lotion bars I was trying to figure out how to make.
I had a sliver left, needed to replenish the stash, and couldn’t get a hold of the amazing woman who makes the lotions and soaps. So, I headed to the health food store for ingredients…. and then she called me back. Thank goodness making lotion bars didn’t have to become a necessary hobby 😉

For those of you who were curious about the lotion, I talked to the woman who makes them today to make sure it was cool to share her info, since she doesn’t have an Etsy shop or anything like that. She makes AMAZING products (lotions and soaps) and my fave is the bitter almond lotion bar. You break off a piece, heat it up with your hands and rub it on 🙂

I’ve loved following your pregnancy! I am due March 6, with our first, a little boy! I LOVE to cook! I exercise because I have to though!
I would love a snoogle!! My necessary hobby would be cleaning and the fun hobbies are cooking/baking, running, tennis, and SLEEPING!
I have a 12-yr-old daughter. I’m an exercise fiend (because I love to eat!), & I’m always reading a book. I love Body Pump, biking & walking.

I laughed when I read the knitting thing, because knitting is one of my hobbies. I asked my grandma to teach me when I was little, and have been her only grandchild to learn. It calms me for some reason.
Aside from that, running. Whenever I can be outside, I am!

and I love to crochet…i made my first baby blanket about 5 months ago and its nicely waiting for my little one to arrive.

How I would love the Snoogle! I was just telling my hubby yesterday that it’s time to invest! Sleeping has been so uncomfortable and I am not even far along 🙁 Due date – July 26th. I also have a soon to be 3 year old)

I’m pregnant too! And I still have a million years left before I’m due (7.5 months), so a snoogle would be awesome! My hobbies are cooking, baking, painting furniture and helping my husband renovate our house.
My hobbies I enjoy are working out and drawing. I actually just realized that it is called a “snoogle” and not a “snoogie”. 🙂
Well, my only kids are the fur babies and they are 10 and 12 (gettin’ up there in dog years) but let me tell you do I ever covet that SNOOGLE even though I’m not expecting. 🙂 My favorite fun hobby, as lazy as it sounds, is reading. And after that would be hiking with friends. My ‘necessary’ hobbies are probably learning WordPress for my blog (seems there’s something new to learn all the time) and cooking, since I’m a personal health food chef.

I am 12.5 weeks pregnant and normally a belly sleeper – I can tell that this is not going to be possible for much longer, so I am in desperate need of some sleep relief. A Snoogle would be wonderful!

Fun: exercise, cooking, photography/photobooks….Necessary: Shopping. I know, I’m the worst girl ever. I only like to shop when I have a specific item in mind. But even then I find it exhausting!

We are TTC. I had a miscarriage in October, but we have been given the ok to try again.

This pillow looks so comfy! I love curling up in a ball when sleeping so I’d enjoy that! And no kids yet, hahaha only 15 years old, but hopefully some present in my future 🙂
I am a Mommy to Hunter, age 2 (soon to be 2 1/2!) and my sweet girl, Avery, aged 9 months. And hobbies? Who has the time? LOL When I have any time at all, I usually read but I USED to love to scrapbook, do crafts (like homemade wreaths, ornaments, etc)…when the kids get a tad bigger, I’m going to try to get back into it.
Oh, and we STILL use our snoogle in this house! It’s not in my son’s bed, as a comfort pillow (he snuggles completely up into it) and also for help keeping him from falling out of the bed (the snoogle is on the side of the bed where this is only a partial wall). It’s a great pillow!

I have been DYING to try a Snoogie!!!!!!! I agree with you about the photography thing. It can be fun for me sometimes but mostly just work….even though I studied it and *should* like it. I love to spend time in the kitchen, and my boyfriend and I love to scout out new movies to see. My ultimate hobby is probably reading, though. What’s better than a good book? I don’t have kids but can’t wait until I do… I spent a year as a special needs worker at a daycare and it was the best job I ever had (and the most stressful, but whatever!) and I miss it every day!
