I’ve got a spring fever…

and the only cure

is a NEW DRESS 🙂

dress

Heh heh.

(Express-  one my my purchases from yesterday’s shopstravaganza with the madre. The Pilot asked if I did retail therapy to compensate for Valentine’s loneliness… he knows me too well)

How are you guys doing? It’s gorgeous in T-town! 80 degrees today. The hotter, the better 🙂

I just got back from a fun friend date: tea at Ike’s Coffee and Tea

chai

Usually I’ll roll with regular tea instead of *exciting* drinks at coffee shops because the milk collection usually sux. Ike’s had RICE MILK (almond would have been better but I’m not one to kick a gift horse –milk horse?- in the mouth), so I had a chai latte with rice milk. It was fabulous.

After tea, we went to acupuncture. I never thought I’d be so in love with something that has the word “puncture” in it. So relaxing and I adore all of the practitioners at the place we go to. It was a very peaceful nap.

Some of today’s eats:

Salad beast

beast

(with hummus and balsamic)

Smooooooothie

smoothi

-almond milk

-avocado

-frozen organic raspberries

-cacao powder

-Doctor protein + Sun Warrior

and I also made some roons today for a friend in NY 🙂

roons

I’m off to play fetch with Bella in the sun, then head to Zumba. Stay tuned for a special guest post from you-know-who in the am 🙂

Have a great night!

xoxo

Gina

Something to talk about: Have any fun friend dates coming up? I have four this week- Sunday was a friend’s bday so we went out dancing, today’s tea and acupuncture, dinner with a friend on Thursday and my “Detox is Over” party on Saturday night 🙂 Even when you’re super busy, its always a good idea to schedule in fun stuff, too.

Something to do: Don’t forget to *follow me on OpenSky* for a chance to win awesome goodies (this week it’s an outfit from lululemon) and get exclusive access to the promos we offer each week. We won’t spam ya (one email each week) and you’ll get baller deals- today’s was two jars of Nuttzo for $20.

You and I BOTH rocked the retail therapy yesterday … I refuse to regret my super cute silk top from Macy’s, though 😀

  2. Meaghan on February 15, 2011 at 7:15 pm

That smoothie looks amazing. We’re in the middle of a deep freeze over here in the Northeast, but I think it might be time to break out the blender in spite of the cold!

    Cute dress!

Sweet about the rice milk! I too usually get black coffee or herbal tea — cows milk and some soy milk just destroy my insides.

      you and me both girl

LOVE the dress Gina! So cute. I could totally use some fun friend dates soon… I love going for Sbux with my girlies but I think we need to shake it up a bit. Thanks for the ideas and I hope you have a great night!

Friend “dates” are my favorite! I had a hiking date with one of my friends this past weekend, and this coming week I’m going to see some old friends from college! “Girlfriend time” is a necessity!

I love the new dress! I’m so excited for warm weather!!

  12. Caitlin @ TPL on February 15, 2011 at 7:42 pm

Adorable! I can’t wait for spring, forecast in the 50’s on Thursday might be my first dress day of the year!!

P.S. Might I hire you to be my personal smoothie maker? I can pay you on a college work study based salary =)

    • Fitnessista on February 15, 2011 at 7:52 pm

      hahah for sure! 🙂

  13. Kelly on February 15, 2011 at 7:52 pm

Gina, I know may be obvious to some but can you explain the pro’s, con’s, benefits of the different kinds of milk (almond, rice, soy, cow). I’ve been slowly changing my diet to eat healthier and learning a lot from your blog.

  14. April @ Crazy Fabulous Life on February 15, 2011 at 7:55 pm

I followed you on OpenSky yesterday but I never got a confirmation e-mail and I thought I was supposed to. :\

  17. Lili on February 15, 2011 at 8:06 pm

By the way, i love that your having a detox over party! Yesss! I bet there will be TONS of choclate and roons there! Or maybe you should try your hand and chocolate vino flavored roons?

  18. Jess (In My Healthy Opinion) on February 15, 2011 at 8:13 pm

I’ve got a major HOT date feb. 23-7th!!! My soldier and I are celebrating our 10 year anniversary in Hawaii!!!!! I’m so flippin excited. I’ve never been, (barely been out of Ca) and we’ve never had a honeymoon, so it’s about time. I did some spring shopping today at Target for the occasion! We are going to catch a hop (hopefully, fingers crossed) so kind of on pins and needles not knowing for sure. Have you ever taken one?

  21. Jenn on February 15, 2011 at 8:30 pm

On OpenSky it says if you get 15 friends to join, you can either get the supergreens or nutzo for free… well I spammed everyone I know and i know for a fact that at LEAST 15 joined… do I wait for them to contact me or am I doing something wrong?

    • Fitnessista on February 16, 2011 at 1:01 am

i think they’ll be contacting you

  22. Sara on February 15, 2011 at 8:33 pm

I am just learning to have friend dates! My sister was my best friend, we did everything together and then she upped and married a guy overseas and MOVED AWAY, leaving a sad hole in my social life. However, it is time to fill it up! Last weekend I went to ‘Burlesque’ with my neighbour and a girl from my class, then partied it up with my cousin over the weekend. Girl time rocks.

  23. Sara on February 15, 2011 at 8:33 pm

Hey.. how do I get a pic on my comments? I just can’t figure it out….

  24. Christin@purplebirdblog on February 15, 2011 at 8:38 pm

That dress is adorbs! I am always definitely excited when I find a sub for cow’s milk and soymilk at a coffee shop, though yes it is usually is rice milk. Wonder what we gotta do to get them on the almond milk bandwagon!

  25. Annette on February 15, 2011 at 8:45 pm

Love that smooooothie idea 😉 Thanks for the great recipe/food ideas!

  26. jen @ taste life on February 15, 2011 at 8:48 pm

I DO have a fun friend date planned! The boy toy and I are going on vaca next week and my girlfriend is also going on vaca, so the week we both get back we’re going on a fun friend excursion to get over having to be back at work!

  27. Ashley on February 15, 2011 at 8:51 pm

Love the dress! Super jealous of the person getting the roons. Have fun at zumba I can’t wait for the recap of the detox is over party! I can see it now, tubs filled with chocolate and wine. 😀

  28. Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter on February 15, 2011 at 9:05 pm

80 degrees in Tucson! Ah that’s amazing. Today was windy, rainy and hovered just above freezing. Probably the worst weather ever 🙁

  29. Arian on February 15, 2011 at 9:14 pm

Love the blog! I am a spin and bootcamp instructor. Plus, I’m a nutrition fanatic too. 🙂 Love finding other people as crazy as me.

    Cute new dress!

And i follow you on Open Sky and got your message this morning about the Nuttzo. I always think it’s actually “you” in my inbox, til i realize it’s you via Open Sky. And “you” are probably emailing 1000 of your closest friends. lol

And friend meetup..I HAD one over the weekend and posted about it. Girl time, hanging out with real life friends is so important for the mind, body, spirit…and to recharge out batteries!
    🙂

  32. Namaste Gurl on February 15, 2011 at 10:16 pm

Do avocados go well with raspberries? Hmmm, a combo I’ve never tried in a smoothie! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on February 16, 2011 at 12:11 am

      cados go with everything 😉

  33. Amelia on February 15, 2011 at 10:23 pm

Tonight I went out with a group of girls from one of my classes…granted it was an “assignment” that involved eating, but it was still fun. 🙂

Nothing fun planned for the remainder of the week except studying for finals. Woohoo! 😉

    • Fitnessista on February 16, 2011 at 12:11 am

assignment involving eating? a+ for me haha

I LOVE friend dates! I had lunch with co-workers turned good friends yesterday, and we had such a great conversation about life goals, woman’s rights, etc. We went deep! I feel so lucky to have the friends I do!

  36. Stephanie on February 15, 2011 at 10:55 pm

Super cute dress!! I’m definitely so ready for spring too!

  37. Rachel @ Healthy Teacher on February 15, 2011 at 11:04 pm

I’ve been making a new salad beast. I take the trader joe’s cans of sardines or trout in olive oil…or herring..and I put it over spinach and feta cheese, using the olive oil left in the can as “dressing.” It’s low cal, filling, and delicious. I don’t get hungry for 5 hrs after! And, that’s unheard of for me:)

    • Fitnessista on February 16, 2011 at 12:10 am

i’m afraid to try sardines! everyone says theyre delicious and the pilot loves them.. but still afraid
