Maca-rena

Heyyyyy 😀 How’s your day treating ya? Mine has been pretty bueno. The Pilot would be proud- I was a packing MACHINE while he was at work today!

I also may have gotten rid of some of his grungy old shirts… he’ll never miss them. Heh heh. 😉

(Apologies to anyone sporting a Titanic shirt right now)

For lunch I wanted something COLD, so I busted out an old favorite:

ice cream

Chocolate Cherry Bomb Protein Ice cream!

-1 bananner

-1 C frozen organic black cherries

-1 scoop Sun Warrior

-1 C almond milk

-1 T raw cacao powder

-2/3 t xanthan gum

-Stevia, cinnamon and maca (I may or may not sing macarena to myself as I get the maca bag out of the pantry. Nothing like bringing back an old, highly over-played classic, eh?)

-cacao nibs

+ kale chips snacked on throughout the day

chips

Don’t let the small plate fool ya. Yesterday, the dehydrator was full. Today, it is empty. That is all 😀

After pack-stravaganza (and tossing TONS of old beauty supplies and pantry food that we’re not going to use or is on it’s last limb), I came to Bizzle for an afternoon pick-me-up.

IMG00330-20100910-1614

Grande 2-pump pumpkin spice latte with no whip and ALMOND MILK!!!!!

My little bro’s girlfriend (who works at the Bizzle in AZ) told me that they have no prob if you bring your own milk. Just to be sure, I called Starbucks before I came down here (to spare myself of unnecessary almond milk travel) and they were so cool about it!!!! 12 oz is the perfect size for a grande 😉 Maybe Bizzle will get the hint and start offering almond milk… until then, I’m gonna bring my own in a little water bottle 🙂

My fall just got a thousand times better <3

Now, I’m chilling at Bizzle, working on the playlist for tomorrow’s Zumbathon. I’m adding 3 songs that I’ve never taught before (but know the songs like the back of my hand) so let’s hope it rocks and isn’t an epic disaster. I’m envisioning it as a huge success- that always seems to help 😀 (Before a race or big event, picture it in your brain going EXTREMELY well! Life can often imitate what we want it to turn out like)

image

(almost there- I’ll post the full playlist tomorrow)

I was going to do a Fashion Friday post this afternoon, but I’m not really feeling it today. Maybe it’s because I haven’t showered yet, have unkempt hair and am wearing the same yoga pants and tee I was packing boxes in all morning? Not feeling too fashionable at this moment, but I promise an epic Fashion Friday post next week.

Next week is going to be a big week on the bloggy – lots of changes going down around here 😀 (Also, maybe a macaroon giveaway on Monday? I still owe Sana some roons and have extra supplies….)

The moving talk and life limbo will be over soon- thanks for hanging out with me <3

xoxo,

Gina

Something to talk about: What fitness events do you have going on this weekend? Take it as a chance to try something new that you didn’t have time for during the week (a new class, rock climbing, long walk with the pups), or as an opportunity to wind down and recover <3

As someone who has always been and always will be a HUGE fan of Titanic – how could you get rid of that shirt?!!! JK 😉 Although I would have gladly taken it off your hands 🙂

  6. Jocelyn on September 10, 2010 at 5:02 pm

What! Ok I live in AZ and I had no idea you could bring your own milk to Starbucks! definitely letting my sis know, she is a huge starbucks fan!!

  7. Maissa on September 10, 2010 at 5:02 pm

So… I really don’t mean to be a downer, and I think it’s awesome that Starbucks will steam your own almond milk, but I’d want someone to tell me this if I were you: the pumpkin spice syrup uses a little tiny bit of condensed milk. I know you generally avoid dairy products so I thought I’d let you know. It really isn’t much AT ALL, but I thought I’d give you the heads up.

I really don’t mean to ruin your fall though… I feel kinda awful for telling you, but I thought you’d want to know….

Ps. that shirt is HILARIOUS. Oh Titanic, reminds me of being 13 and so in love with Leo.

    • Fitnessista on September 10, 2010 at 6:58 pm

hahah no worries! i knew that already
i avoid dairy in general, but i don’t have a cow (bahaha) with a teeny amount 😉

What I can’t believe is that it is The Pilot’s shirt!!! Come clean Gina, that was yours, right 🙂

You made my day with that Starbucks news — but I’ll call “my” Starbucks to make sure its ok with them too. I wish I was going indoor rock climbing this weekend! That was what my husband and I did for our first date so long ago 🙂 Lets just say he enjoyed the view when I was climbing!

    • Fitnessista on September 10, 2010 at 6:58 pm

hahah it was no one’s – i got the pic off google 🙂

I gotta get my booty in gear and sign up for some open water swims. They are really expensive and really cold, so it is taking me a while to sign up.

    • Fitnessista on September 10, 2010 at 6:56 pm

      nope- $2.51 for a grande!

  20. brittany on September 10, 2010 at 5:39 pm

i have three days of yoga and puppy walks in my future! Next week is the beginning of a new running program + new body tone classes at the gym so I’m going to try and stretch and relax my muscles as much as possible!
I have a question for you though! I just bought a new whey protein powder (Reclaim smart smoothie) and it’s 120 cals, 2g fat, 4g carbs, and 21g protein per serving. Is there any way you could tell me if these stats are good? I really want to try sun warrior but it’s a little too $$$
    thanks for any feedback!

    • Fitnessista on September 10, 2010 at 6:56 pm

that sounds pretty good! check out designer why, too- not expensive at all and tastes great

Lovin the fact that the bux let you bring your own AM! Did they give you a discount for bringing your own milk – cuz that’s like half the drink! Way to start the almond milk revolution!

      yes! it was only $2.51!

  25. Sarah Anne on September 10, 2010 at 6:05 pm

My weekends are always the same ol’ same ol’! HOWEVER – I started dancing at a drop-in center here in VanCity and have been LOVING IT sooooo dang much that my weekends are usually packed with classes! This week I will have done 15 hours of dance and dancer’s bootcamp! Saturday is Bootcamp, Lyrical Hip Hop and Videography, then my FAV Sunday, is Bootcamp, Burlesque and Bollywood, with a possible Zumba thrown in there! 😀 I look forward to my ‘dance-a-thons’ every weekend. It’s just soooo much better than throwing the old P90x into the DVD player for me.

    Hope your weekend is fabu!

    • Fitnessista on September 10, 2010 at 6:55 pm

that sounds like my dream weekend 🙂

  26. BroccoliHut on September 10, 2010 at 6:06 pm

Ah! Thanks for the S-bux info–I think we should all petition them to start offering Almond Breeze.

    • Fitnessista on September 10, 2010 at 6:55 pm

      i totally agree!

    • Christina on September 11, 2010 at 7:28 am

  27. MoniMeals on September 10, 2010 at 6:13 pm

How funny are our guys and their old shirts, they love the ones with the most holes and yellow stains! L-e-t g-o is what I always tell my husband. 🙂 No worries on Fashion Friday- I understand when it is a yoga pants, pony tail type of day..(wait that is everyday for me!) Have a good weekend.

  28. rebecca on September 10, 2010 at 6:20 pm

i don’t drink regular or soy milk so my options are pretty much tea at starbucks, but last winter i thought i would try bringing my own almond milk and asking them to do me a favor and after a few weird looks and questions, they agreed! they seem to have a problem with it when they are busy but since i am mostly there studying at night, it hasn’t been a problem. i definitely thing we need to make a push for other milk options at starbucks, i was in whole foods yesterday and they had almond, rice and soy milk options for coffee drinks, i was pleasantly surprised!

    • Fitnessista on September 10, 2010 at 6:55 pm

      whaaaat?! that is so awesome!

    • Christina on September 11, 2010 at 7:28 am

I posted below, but you can go to the starbucks website and make the suggestion that they add almond milk (or rice milk!) to their menu. I did and I got an email saying it’s a good idea 🙂 I also saw that others made the same suggestion. Maybe if more people suggest it, they will get on the ball faster and we can all enjoy our almond milk in latte form 🙂

  29. Gina on September 10, 2010 at 6:26 pm

I have a make-up session with my trainer and lots of yoga classes planned:) I also may try to sneak in a little extra cardio or walking.

  30. Tina on September 10, 2010 at 6:30 pm

My fitness event is a prenatal massage. It’s fitness because its caring for my body and oh goodness do I need it! LOL

I can’t believe he had a Titanic shirt!! LOL

    • Fitnessista on September 10, 2010 at 6:54 pm

      you do need it!
hahaha it’s not really his shirt 🙂

  31. Lindsay on September 10, 2010 at 6:43 pm

I love almond milk. I usually don’t drink it by itself, but the one day I tried it, it tasted the closest to regular milk (without the grossness) of all the non-dairy milks I’ve tried.

My fitness activities are a hot yoga class and an intro to spinning class. I’ve done hot yoga once and didn’t care for it, but I think I wasn’t hydrated enough.

I’m running a 30K as a tune-up for my October Marathon. I haven’t been training as much as I should, and have only done a few of my long runs, because I keep getting injured. Hopefully I’ll survive this run!

So excited to bring Almond Milk to Starbucks! I am going to a Les Mills quarterly launch in NY. Stoked! I’ve lost 120 lbs over the last 1 1/2 yrs, and take BodyPump and some other Les Mills classes. One of the instructors from my gym invited me! Have a great weekend and best of luck with the move!

ANd I LOVE throwing out/donating Scott’s old stuff…he isnt going to miss that old box of daytimer planners from 1992 that we have moved 9 times, so it gets chucked. As do ugly clothes 🙂

Almond milk and bringing your own…VERY COOL!!!! Thanks for the info!

Have a great weekend and hope you get a shower..not showering til 5pm and hanging out in sweaty workout clothes is the story of my life. You will be well prepared as a mom one day 🙂

  42. Brittany @ Eating Bird Food on September 10, 2010 at 10:59 pm

I had a Chocolate Cherry Bomb shake for breakfast this morning too. I hadn’t had one in quite a long while, but figured I needed to have a smoothie because soon it’s going to be cold and I won’t want smoothies anymore. 🙂

Kale chips have a way of disappearing so fast!! Hate that, but love them.

  43. Jessica@tastyandtrim on September 10, 2010 at 11:12 pm

I am running my first 5K this weekend! I am definitely taking your advice and envisioning the race going extremely well to get myself prepared, thanks 🙂

  44. Laura @ Backstage Pass to Health & Happiness on September 10, 2010 at 11:47 pm

My sister and I are climbing a mountain tomorrow as part of a charity event. I am really nervous about how I’ll react to the altitude, as I am from a much lower elevation. However, I am totally digging your advice to picture it going well! Hopefully that (plus staying hydrated, eating enough, taking it slow and popping some ibuprofen if needed) will do the trick 🙂

    • Fitnessista on September 11, 2010 at 7:51 am

i’m so you’ll love it!! have fun 🙂

Yep, I had that exact same Tshirt, haha!

I’ve been really active in doing yoga and pilates at home recently. I go through spurts of motivation an have been good about it for awhile! there are no classes around me, which is sad, so I feel like I need twice the discipline to do it myself, but I have been 🙂

Ha ha. Love the Macarena reference. I always find myself telling the bag of maca that it “maca me crazy.” Now, I might start singing to it, as well.

BTW, I tried your chocolate mug cake for the first time recently. Yum! You gave me an excuse to use my microwave again, but shhhh … don’t tell anybody 🙂

    • Fitnessista on September 11, 2010 at 12:39 pm

ahhhh! thanks for reminding me about that! i was just trying to figure out what i should eat for a sweet snack 😉
