Ooey and Gooey

Hiiiii 😀 How are ya? Thanks for all of the awesome song suggestions this morning! My iPizzle thanks you 🙂

My day was spent listening to the Bailamos! station on the TV whilst cooking up dinner for the commander’s fam.

Enchi’s:

enchis

(1 tray for the fam, 1 tray for the pilot + enchi’s for my 2:30 training appointment)

Salad:

salad

Lime and Cilantro Basmati Rice:

rice

aaaaaand Chocolate Chip Ooey Gooey Butter cakes.

cakes (2)

I saved a little of everything for the Pilot and I to enjoy for dinner. It’s kind of nice to come home and know dinner is waiting 🙂

The Pilot’s butter cake plate:

He will eat all four of those. Before dinner, with a pile of ice cream 😉 That’s how he rolls.

I munched one too, and it was ridiculous. I LOVE yellow cake mix and these have a brilliant cakey bottom, creamy top with melted chocolate chips throughout. I now have a stomach ache and headache from the diary and sugar –not used to it like I used to be- but it was so worth it 😉

Since I was cooking all day today, I haven’t had time to get my workout face on yet, but I might practice some Zumba dances after dinner just to move around a little.

Hope you all have a great night! See ya in the morning with a love post 🙂

xoxo,

Gina

Something to do: Try these yoga/strength training hybrid moves! Awesome way to add some pizzazz in tomorrow’s weight routine 🙂

Oh, I love gooey butter cakes, but they are definitely super sweet. I’ve made several varieties for my husband’s co workers. Lemon is great, so is cookies and cream. The pilot’s commander’s family is really lucky to receive such a wonderful dinner.

Believe it or not, the ENCHILADAS are my favorite part of this post. Nothing against the cookie bars. But those enchiladas look amazing!

I am so glad I just ate. I’d be rummaging in the fridge for CHEESE after seeing these yummy photos.

Yum, those look AWESOME! I’ve only tried making those butter cakes once, and I’m pretty sure they left me feeling pretty icky, too! (but worth it)

Making all that food probably counts as a workout, too! 😀

Sorry if I missed it, but do you cook for the commander’s family every once in a while? Or do all the wives take turns cooking for them? Just curious.

I can’t wait for the “love post” 🙂

    • Fitnessista on August 17, 2010 at 9:15 pm

his wife had surgery, so we’re all taking turns cooking for their family this week so they don’t have to worry about dinner

  22. Tina on August 17, 2010 at 9:37 pm

That reminds me of my husband. He would have no problem downing all of those before dinner either.

  23. Krystina on August 17, 2010 at 9:47 pm

I LOVE using weights with yoga. I can stretch and lengthen even more while working the arms.

  24. Nicole @ Making Good Choices on August 17, 2010 at 9:53 pm

My husband would do the same thing and then have room for dinner. I love the new pictures you added on the left! Gives it a nice personal touch 🙂

    • Fitnessista on August 17, 2010 at 10:36 pm

  27. Paige @Running Around Normal on August 17, 2010 at 10:01 pm

That’s so nice of you to do!
Seeing the “tray of enchi’s for the pilot” made me LOL because I remember at dinner on Saturday you were saying how he will eat ALL of them in one sitting. A beast!! haha 😉
I need to make me some ooey gooey butter cakes. YUM

  28. Hayley on August 17, 2010 at 10:08 pm

You really do dinner right! And dessert, for that matter.

  29. Julie @ Pickley Pear on August 17, 2010 at 10:08 pm

Butter cakes! OMG, my mouth is watering. My body can’t take sugar like it used to, but it sure tastes good going down!

  30. Heather (Heather's Dish) on August 17, 2010 at 10:14 pm

i ADORE gooey butter cakes…too bad i can barely eat one without getting sick on the sugar!

  31. Jess on August 17, 2010 at 10:17 pm

Those cakes look amazing! I learned the hard way a couple weeks ago that I can’t handle sugar the way I used to—at least not smack dab in the middle of a busy day—but once in a while a treat is worth it.

  32. Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman on August 17, 2010 at 10:22 pm

The cake looks so good! How do you make it? It looks kind of crispy on the top.

    • Fitnessista on August 17, 2010 at 10:33 pm

btw … all of the food looks delish!

    • Fitnessista on August 18, 2010 at 8:52 am

no i just throw everything willy nilly into a bowl and season with lime juice, sea salt and pepper

  46. Adrienne Ramsey on August 18, 2010 at 8:02 am

Quick question- did you just substitute the chocolate chips for the pumpkin and spices in the Paul Deen recipe?

    • Tania on August 18, 2010 at 8:46 am

Yes, I need to know as well please! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on August 18, 2010 at 8:51 am

yes- i think at the end of the recipe it gives you different options for flavor combos

  47. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on August 18, 2010 at 8:59 am

Men’s metabolisms seriously amaze me! If only I could throw back four pieces of butter cake and still have room for dinner. 😛

  48. LisaG on August 18, 2010 at 9:22 am

The enchiladas are as good as they look!

  49. Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter on August 18, 2010 at 10:22 am

I agree with Chelsea. Men’s metabolism’s are crazy. I went on a hike with my guy friend. He ate 4 meal replacement bars, a PB&J and an apple and his stomach was constantly growling.

  50. Bianca @ Confessions of a Chocoholic on August 18, 2010 at 11:22 am

What a feast! Those chocolate cake bars look dangerous – I would want to eat 4 at a time too 😉
