Raw-mazing Giveaway

Hey everyone! Hope youโ€™ve had a great day so far <3 Thank you for all of your advice regarding whether I should give running another chance. Iโ€™m still thinking it out and want to talk it over with the pilotโ€ฆ so we shall see ๐Ÿ˜‰

Soโ€ฆ Bikram is HOT.

Bikram-Choudhury_7950 (Source)

Not so much Bikram himself โ€“my apologies if you find him seksi, heโ€™s just not my type- but the yoga oven torture chamber. I LOVE the heat and it usually feels amazing, but this morning the air was thick, uncomfortably hot and took a lot of deep breathing to get through the 90 minutes. It was a very, very challenging class.

When it was over, I took my schweaty self to Whole Paycheck and sipped a carrot, apple, beet, ginger juice

and also got hot bar for breakfast.

hot bar

Plantains, squash and zucchini, shrimp salad, Babylonian Treasure salad, and my beloved vegan miso slaw.

I came back to my auntโ€™s casa, said my โ€œsee ya laterโ€s and got on the road back to Valdizzy.

Iโ€™m about to pick up Viesa from the kennel and head to the base gym, but before I goโ€ฆ

a GIVEAWAY from Ani Phyo!

I had the pleasure of meeting Ani while I was at 105degrees– not only is she totally gorgeous, but sheโ€™s also kind and personable.

Bobbly Flay! Would it be wrong for the reason to be because he’s so damn HOT?

  2. Melanie @ Idreamoftahini on June 14, 2010 at 5:34 pm

I like Ellie Krieger and Guy Fiore. I have an addiction with buying cookbooks. I love buying all sorts of cookbooks.

  3. michele on June 14, 2010 at 5:34 pm

I have to say Rachael Ray. I am a no fuss cook. Her recipes are uncomplicated and don’t require alot of ingredients.

  4. Lauren on June 14, 2010 at 5:35 pm

Ina Garten – her food always looks wonderful!

  5. Kristi on June 14, 2010 at 5:35 pm

I love Rick Bayless. I love Mexican food but never really considered it could be anything but greasy and gringo-fied so far north of the border, but his restaurants in Chicago take the simple classics to a whole new level. I love his research, passion and accessibility.

  6. Sheena Morley on June 14, 2010 at 5:37 pm

My fav chef depends on who I am cooking for and what they are in the mood for. My husband is not a health food freak so for him I normally use The Pioneer Woman. For myself I love Matthew Keeney. Matthew’s recipe are wonderful for beginning raw food eaters!

  22. Danielle on June 14, 2010 at 5:51 pm

I absolutely adore Ina Garten. She understand not only the importance of fresh, local food and high quality ingredients, but also the essence of presentation. She always has fresh beautiful flowers and unique centerpieces at all her parties.

I have such a girl crush on Giada. My new Food Network show is Five Ingredient Fix with Claire Robinson, not loving all of her recipes so far but I love that they only have five ingredients in them! I also love Ellie Krieger.

    Thanks, Gina =)

  26. Shannon on June 14, 2010 at 5:55 pm

Tyler Florence b/c he is kinda cute and Giada because her food always looks so yummy and comforting – no matter what it is!

  27. bonnie on June 14, 2010 at 5:56 pm

I really like ellie krieger and giada!

  28. Erica on June 14, 2010 at 5:56 pm

Maybe not a true favorite but I love Martha Rose Shulman’s “recipes for health” articles and recipes in the NY Times. Many are vegan or easily veganized – for those times when I want cooked food. Gotta mention Isa Moskowitz, too. Most of my raw inspiration comes from blogs, though – yours included, of course.

  29. Dasha on June 14, 2010 at 6:01 pm

I love Tyler Florence, but will always tune into Ina when her show is on!

  30. Theresa O'Brien on June 14, 2010 at 6:01 pm

My mom is my favorite chef!I love all of her food. But if I have to pick someone that actually cooks as a profession, I would pick Rick Williams the chef at a restaurant I worked in during college in Petaluma, CA. YUM

  31. Allie on June 14, 2010 at 6:02 pm

Bobby Flay…I just went to the Mesa Grill. Amazing!

I’m a new reader and I love your blog…its really changing the way I look at food. Thanks! =)

  32. Katie on June 14, 2010 at 6:03 pm

I have just started experimenting with raw foods, and I would LOVE this cookbook! I might just have to buy it if I don’t win. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I love Bobby Flay. Love, love, love.

  33. Lauren M. on June 14, 2010 at 6:05 pm

I love Giada and Rachel Ray. Giada’s food is so rich and simple, and Rachel is rich and sinful!

  34. Katie on June 14, 2010 at 6:06 pm

My favorite chef is Nigel Slater or Mark Bittman. I just love their take on basic, fresh, real foods.

  35. michelle on June 14, 2010 at 6:07 pm

so we cant pick Ani? because she is my fav.thank you both for this opportunity

  36. Johanne on June 14, 2010 at 6:11 pm

I like Rachel Ray. Her recipes are quick and easy.

  37. Racheal on June 14, 2010 at 6:12 pm

Rachael Ray. We are all busy and her meals are easy

  38. Alyssa on June 14, 2010 at 6:14 pm

Jose Garces– one of the best chefs in Philly AND an Iron Chef ๐Ÿ™‚

  39. Joanna on June 14, 2010 at 6:15 pm

I like to watch Paula Deen, she has a great personality – and I love her self-made story!

I also really like Ina Garten.

  40. Stacey K. on June 14, 2010 at 6:15 pm

Jamie Oliver! He is amazing and his food philosophy is awesome

  41. Sumi on June 14, 2010 at 6:16 pm

I love Mireille Guiliano’s books and recipes. They have such a soft yet strong tone to them. And, of course, Sarma’s recipes/products.

  42. Jocelyn on June 14, 2010 at 6:17 pm

Hmm..my fave chef…would have to be, Laura Calder (canadian)…she puts a french twist on all food! So yummy!

  43. Katie on June 14, 2010 at 6:17 pm

While I’m vegan, I love Jamie Oliver! (Can’t help it..)

  44. Elizabeth on June 14, 2010 at 6:18 pm

My favorite chef will always be my grandfather. He never measured, he just “listened” to what the dish needed.

  45. Tulika on June 14, 2010 at 6:18 pm

Ina Garten.. because every time I try one of her recipes, I get showered with compliments and requests for the recipe!

  46. Gretchen on June 14, 2010 at 6:19 pm

I pick Tosca Reno and The Fitnessista! I never learned much about or paid much attention to nutrition while I was growing up and as I have gotten older. I came upon Tosca Reno’s Eat Clean books about a year ago and she really opened my eyes to a whole new world. That is when I started reading health blogs and (luckily) found The Fitnessista!

  47. Autumn on June 14, 2010 at 6:19 pm

My fave is my friend Julie’s Mother! Sorry but for me she beats any of those big names!

  48. Bliss on June 14, 2010 at 6:20 pm

I heart Ina Garten and her casual elegance, but I probably cook more Rachael Ray than anyone else. That may be because I’m more of a goof than a casually elegant Hamptonite, I don’t know.

  49. Amy on June 14, 2010 at 6:21 pm

Gosh, I love SO many chefs, but Rachael Ray will always hold a special place in my heart. I know it sounds cheesy and I rarely watch her show or make her recipes anymore now that I’m a chef myself, but I do credit her with taking the fear out of cooking for me, introducing me to flavoful food, and starting me down this career path!

  50. Andrea of Care to Eat on June 14, 2010 at 6:22 pm

I LOVE THIS BOOK! I just thought her first one was okay, so I reluctantly checked out this one from the library, and boy am I impressed! I have zucchini bread in the dehydrator as I type, and I made some cookies last night. I would love to win this book, but if not, I’m definitely buying a copy for myself.
And I don’t have a favorite chef – I find the ones on TV annoying ๐Ÿ™
