Raw-mazing Giveaway

Hey everyone! Hope youโ€™ve had a great day so far <3 Thank you for all of your advice regarding whether I should give running another chance. Iโ€™m still thinking it out and want to talk it over with the pilotโ€ฆ so we shall see ๐Ÿ˜‰

Soโ€ฆ Bikram is HOT.

Bikram-Choudhury_7950 (Source)

Not so much Bikram himself โ€“my apologies if you find him seksi, heโ€™s just not my type- but the yoga oven torture chamber. I LOVE the heat and it usually feels amazing, but this morning the air was thick, uncomfortably hot and took a lot of deep breathing to get through the 90 minutes. It was a very, very challenging class.

When it was over, I took my schweaty self to Whole Paycheck and sipped a carrot, apple, beet, ginger juice

and also got hot bar for breakfast.

hot bar

Plantains, squash and zucchini, shrimp salad, Babylonian Treasure salad, and my beloved vegan miso slaw.

I came back to my auntโ€™s casa, said my โ€œsee ya laterโ€s and got on the road back to Valdizzy.

Iโ€™m about to pick up Viesa from the kennel and head to the base gym, but before I goโ€ฆ

a GIVEAWAY from Ani Phyo!

I had the pleasure of meeting Ani while I was at 105degrees– not only is she totally gorgeous, but sheโ€™s also kind and personable.

This giveaway is extra exciting because Iโ€™ve been anxiously awaiting the release of this cookbook since last year.

My hubby! He supports me no matter what nutty cooking phase I was in. South Beach, he chopped, Weight Watchers, he shopped with his own slider for me, vegan, he made sure he subbed non-animal products.
He’s the best baker in the world too!

  9. Sara on June 14, 2010 at 10:37 pm

My favorite chef is Michael Psilakis, who is a Greek chef who has restaurants in NYC and one in Miami. He truly has a way with food. My favorite dish of his is the Vegetable Souvlaki at Kefi in NYC. It’s an eggplant, chickpea and bulgar fritter served in a pita with salad and tahini. The flavors work so well together and the salad balances it out perfectly. If you ever get a chance to get to NYC PLEASE check out his AMAZING restaurants!

  10. Carly @ The Road To Health on June 14, 2010 at 10:39 pm

This is quite a difficult choice…I am a food network fanatic and love to cook myself, so it is hard for me to pick just one! If I really have to though…I would say my favorite chef would be my old boss. He was the chef/owner of s small restaurant named Sauce and he was amazing! The love he put into his food is what made it so wonderful.

  19. Amanda on June 14, 2010 at 11:00 pm

  35. Becca on June 14, 2010 at 11:41 pm

My favorite chef would definitely have to be my husband for two reasons: 1) When he takes way too much time to make me veggie sandwiches in the morning (it comes from the heart–he tries so hard!) and 2) When he smokes salmon (and yes, he’s the one who catches the fish!)

  36. Donna Porter on June 14, 2010 at 11:44 pm

My favorite chef (well “famous” chef) is Paula Deen. Not because she’s a healthy cook or because I have made any of her recipes, but because of her history and how she struggled. She did what she could to raise her children and in the end succeed with her passion. My favorite everyday (real life) chef is my 9 year old daughter. That girl can make a mean peanut butter sandwich ๐Ÿ™‚

  37. Jackie (Peaces of Earth) on June 14, 2010 at 11:48 pm

OMG Ani! This is awesome. My favorite chef…hmm this is a toughie! I would have to go with Rick Bayless at the moment. His food is SO GOOD!

  38. alain on June 14, 2010 at 11:49 pm

i would have to say jamie oliver! although the reason why he’s my favorite is probably a tie between his accent and cooking abilities!

  39. Erin on June 14, 2010 at 11:51 pm

I’m a big fan of Nigella Lawson. She’s so down-to-earth and makes cooking seem so easy!

  40. Shannon on June 14, 2010 at 11:55 pm

Not to suck up, but Ani Phyo is my favorite chef. I found her Raw Pad Thai recipe on her YouTube channel and it is the best raw food dish I have ever made and it is so easy! Her almond mylk is my staple milk recipe and I love her marinara from Ani’s Raw Food Kitchen. I could go on and on.

  41. nadia on June 15, 2010 at 12:01 am

Jamie Oliver. Mostly for his accent… but also for his food!
