Tamater of my dreams + giveaway

Hey everyone! Hope your humpday is treating you well ๐Ÿ˜€

For dinner last night, I broke out this treasured heirloom tomato.

heirloom

I got it a Whole Foods on Sunday because it was so beautiful, and decided it was destined for some caprese before our dinner last night.

I sliced it up and topped with sea salt and pepper

caprese

Topped mine with raw goat cheddar and the pilotโ€™s with havarti, and fresh organic basil

caprese (2)

It was pretty face-rocking amazing ๐Ÿ™‚

For dinner, we had a little Italian shrimp stir-fry thingy that I made up on the spot.

dinner

I sauteed an onion and garlic, then added a can of organic diced tomatoes, oregano, rosemary, sea salt, pepper, a splash of balsamic and red pepper flakes. Then I added in some organic shrimp, topped with fresh basil and served with roasted asparagus.

Not too shabby ๐Ÿ˜‰

The pilot had a lot of studying stuff to do last night (wah wah) so I chilled and watched American Idol and then called it a night.

This morning, I met the girls for a weights sesh (munched an apple on the way) and we dominated our core. Iโ€™m going to be sooooore tomorrow. It feels nice to know you did something ๐Ÿ™‚

After weightstravaganza, I couldnโ€™t wait to have another Cherry Chocolate Bomb smoothie (Kristen’s recipe). I made the same changes that I made the other night and it was equally amazing.

cherry

I did some work on the computer, then had a slice of millet for snack covered in a blanket of nutritional yeast and chili powder.

milet

After running some errands, I had a quick meeting with the cafe owners to go over the plans for the cafe.

I still canโ€™t believe this is really happening!

plans

The thing is, we need some help. Weโ€™ve been thinking of names for a few weeks and havenโ€™t found anything we love. (The pilot has contributed the funniest hippie sounding names he could come up withโ€ฆgoofer). I want to name for the cafe to be something intriguing, but without the words โ€œveganโ€ or โ€œrawโ€ because I donโ€™t want to scare anyone away by thinking we only serve carrot sticks. So, what would you name a high-raw, gluten-free, vegan cafe??

By leaving a suggestion below, youโ€™re giving us permission to use the name you suggest (or a variation) ๐Ÿ˜€

The creator of the name we end up using will receive a batch of macaroons and $50 worth of goodies from the health food store (think almond butter, bars, nutritional yeast, or whatever fun things you might be needing).

Weโ€™ll pick a โ€œwinnerโ€ by Friday and Iโ€™ll have the goodies out by Saturday.

I know yaโ€™ll are geniuses at this sort of thing and I canโ€™t wait to read your suggestions!!!

Iโ€™m off to train a client, then pilates and ZUMBA!

xoxo,

Gina

I like the name “One” so many meanings… number one, wholesome, complete.

  2. Emily on February 17, 2010 at 2:21 pm

i like caitlin’s suggestion – or, maybe Todo, just to be the complete opposite?

  3. Jessica @ Dairy Free Betty on February 17, 2010 at 2:21 pm

We have a small cafe here that is called “Rawk On Cafe” such a fun name. BUT I do know what people haven’t gone there just because of the name!

Good luck. so exciting for you!

  4. kirsten on February 17, 2010 at 2:21 pm

    my suggestion is “Graniacs”

  5. Diana on February 17, 2010 at 2:21 pm

    I like the name…

    pure.
    or
    fresh.

not the most original but fitting.

That one cracked me up, lol, who knows what people would think..might get people coming in just to see what’s going on in there!

      • Tamara on February 17, 2010 at 2:34 pm

haha it would probably draw some curious people!

    • Fitnessista on February 17, 2010 at 2:25 pm

      LOL. i love it ๐Ÿ˜‰

  7. Sarah on February 17, 2010 at 2:23 pm

Peaceful Life Cafe (or some variation)…for me, that’s the best benefit of being vegan. The overall feeling of peace I have ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Donna Porter on February 17, 2010 at 2:24 pm

I like “Harmony” because eating healthy puts your body in perfect harmony. Of course, something funky would be neat..like The Carrot Cafe (to poke fun of those who think all you serve is carrot sticks), Switcharoo or Switcharoonie (because you are taking recipes and ingredients and switching them to make a healthy treat), Thrive (don’t we all thrive to eat better?), and finally…A Lucky Penny (because finding the perfect treat is like finding a shiny penny!). More to come..lol..I wanna win!

  9. Christie @ Honoring Health on February 17, 2010 at 2:24 pm

I also like fresh. I think one word names are very in right now.

  10. Kruti on February 17, 2010 at 2:25 pm

hm maybe something along the lines of
    Fresh , Simply Fresh ?
    Pure Cafe ?

How about Fulfill Cafe? It conjures the idea of being full and filled by being fulfilled with nourishment.

  14. Donna Porter on February 17, 2010 at 2:28 pm

What about something spanish? Nuevo or Bien. Okay, I don’t know any spanish words, lol

  16. La on February 17, 2010 at 2:29 pm

    Nude Food Cafe

Lol sorry lame I know. I’m loving the concept of only eating food in pure form, and I don’t know why I tend to think of it as “naked” food.

    • Donna Porter on February 17, 2010 at 2:30 pm

That’s funny..or even just Nude..I love the names that can have more meanings. We are all curious by nature, I would go in just to see what was on the menu!

  17. Mari B on February 17, 2010 at 2:29 pm

    The Raw Macaroon Cafe

ya, ‘Foodgasms’, I like that one ๐Ÿ™‚ and people would come just out of curiosity

  18. LindsayH on February 17, 2010 at 2:32 pm

i love a one-word name for branding, i think it looks so clean and modern and well…fresh. what about anew, renew, dash, grow, verve, zest, vital. what about a word that sounds good in spanish too, since you are bilingual? im not sure what the spanish word is for life or anything like that, but maybe a possibility.

    • LindsayH on February 17, 2010 at 2:33 pm

or maybe feast, thats another one of “your” words!

      • Fitnessista on February 17, 2010 at 2:36 pm

        ahhhh i love feast!!!!

    • Cat on February 17, 2010 at 2:41 pm

Agreed! One word names are great for branding! What about “Bella”? Your dogs name and since it means “beautiful” it works, ’cause your food is pretty breathtaking and we only get to see photos! Plus it could also signify having a “beautiful” life by eating well, etc. etc.

  19. Kalli@fitandfortysomething.com on February 17, 2010 at 2:34 pm

wow so many great ideas…..what about “Secret Garden?”

  20. Nutritious Foodie on February 17, 2010 at 2:36 pm

    How about Nourish?

  21. Katy (The Balanced Foodie) on February 17, 2010 at 2:37 pm

Okay this one is mostly joking..”In the buff” instead of “In the raw”. Made me laugh but a bit too riskay. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I also like Fresh Necessities. Since you’re getting the essentials without needing to cook it. Or fresh essentials for that matter. Just throwing those out there. ๐Ÿ™‚

I like Caitlin’s too..you can also do Fresh One.

Just some ideas! ๐Ÿ™‚ Good luck!

  22. Nicole @ Making Good Choices on February 17, 2010 at 2:37 pm

I wish I had a really great name for you, but I’m SO not creative. I was going to saw something pure.

  23. Erin Alexandria on February 17, 2010 at 2:37 pm

    “Euphoria”

It’s a simple name that would be easy to logo. Kinda gives a ‘happy’ vibe.

    • Erin Alexandria on February 17, 2010 at 2:39 pm

btw, there are some really cute ideas on here!

      • Fitnessista on February 17, 2010 at 2:54 pm

        for real, this is amazing!!!
i love so many of them!

  24. Kelly Michelle on February 17, 2010 at 2:42 pm

Elements or Origins for more one word ideas although not gonna lie I think my favs are the foodgasms and in the buff suggestions

    • Kelly Michelle on February 17, 2010 at 2:45 pm

      or “Sustain”

  25. Kristin on February 17, 2010 at 2:43 pm

Let me know what you think!

  27. Amy on February 17, 2010 at 2:44 pm

How about The Raw Gnaw (or The Raw Gnaw Shop/Cafe)?

  28. Mattie on February 17, 2010 at 2:44 pm

I adore the name THRIVE…but I can’t claim that as my own as there is a THRIVE in Seattle (so delish!).
    Other ideas…
Bloom (as in bloomin’ onion bread!)
Sprout (or Sprout and Bloom Cafe!)
    Flourish
    Feast

Can’t wait to hear more about the plans!

  29. Daisy on February 17, 2010 at 2:45 pm

    Greens & Beans (Kidding!)

    More seriously: Sweetly Simmered

Simmering makes me think of gentle, pure food. I suppose that might go against the idea of “raw” – but still, it would make me think of gentle, high quality food both sweet & savory.

    • stacey on February 17, 2010 at 7:53 pm

There used to be a heakth food store here in Little Rock called Beans, Grains, & Things

  30. kara on February 17, 2010 at 2:47 pm

    — VIDA FEAST CAFE —

Since you like to feast and the cafe will feature foods for a healthy life – but don’t elude too much to what the type of cuisine!

  39. Christina on February 17, 2010 at 2:51 pm

Just one word would be great

    RAW cafe would be cool!

  40. Christina on February 17, 2010 at 2:51 pm

lol, when i started writing there was only one comment!

  41. Jessica on February 17, 2010 at 2:51 pm

What about some variation of a play on the type of food/location of the cafe.

Is it near or on a park and you could do a play on “greens”? What about
    “Cafe on the Green” or
    “Gina’s on the Green”

Might not work based on the proximity, but thought it was cute!

  42. Melissa Strickland on February 17, 2010 at 2:51 pm

I like “Tierra” because of your affinity for the Spanish language, because it expresses the plant-based foundation for the meals you will be preparing and selling and also because it just sounds fresh and hip ๐Ÿ™‚

  43. audrey w. on February 17, 2010 at 2:52 pm

the veggie patch or soaked. idk why but soaked makes me think of raw foods, haha.

    Macaroon Market
    Sweets ‘n’ Beets

I really like the suggestions ‘Secret Garden’ and ‘Nourish’.

I was thinking of ‘Brio’ ( to have spirit/life or liveliness), or I also thought of ‘Equilibrio’ (as in a balanced way of eating).
