Tamater of my dreams + giveaway

Hey everyone! Hope your humpday is treating you well ๐Ÿ˜€

For dinner last night, I broke out this treasured heirloom tomato.

heirloom

I got it a Whole Foods on Sunday because it was so beautiful, and decided it was destined for some caprese before our dinner last night.

I sliced it up and topped with sea salt and pepper

caprese

Topped mine with raw goat cheddar and the pilotโ€™s with havarti, and fresh organic basil

caprese (2)

It was pretty face-rocking amazing ๐Ÿ™‚

For dinner, we had a little Italian shrimp stir-fry thingy that I made up on the spot.

dinner

I sauteed an onion and garlic, then added a can of organic diced tomatoes, oregano, rosemary, sea salt, pepper, a splash of balsamic and red pepper flakes. Then I added in some organic shrimp, topped with fresh basil and served with roasted asparagus.

Not too shabby ๐Ÿ˜‰

The pilot had a lot of studying stuff to do last night (wah wah) so I chilled and watched American Idol and then called it a night.

This morning, I met the girls for a weights sesh (munched an apple on the way) and we dominated our core. Iโ€™m going to be sooooore tomorrow. It feels nice to know you did something ๐Ÿ™‚

After weightstravaganza, I couldnโ€™t wait to have another Cherry Chocolate Bomb smoothie (Kristen’s recipe). I made the same changes that I made the other night and it was equally amazing.

cherry

I did some work on the computer, then had a slice of millet for snack covered in a blanket of nutritional yeast and chili powder.

milet

After running some errands, I had a quick meeting with the cafe owners to go over the plans for the cafe.

I still canโ€™t believe this is really happening!

plans

The thing is, we need some help. Weโ€™ve been thinking of names for a few weeks and havenโ€™t found anything we love. (The pilot has contributed the funniest hippie sounding names he could come up withโ€ฆgoofer). I want to name for the cafe to be something intriguing, but without the words โ€œveganโ€ or โ€œrawโ€ because I donโ€™t want to scare anyone away by thinking we only serve carrot sticks. So, what would you name a high-raw, gluten-free, vegan cafe??

By leaving a suggestion below, youโ€™re giving us permission to use the name you suggest (or a variation) ๐Ÿ˜€

The creator of the name we end up using will receive a batch of macaroons and $50 worth of goodies from the health food store (think almond butter, bars, nutritional yeast, or whatever fun things you might be needing).

Weโ€™ll pick a โ€œwinnerโ€ by Friday and Iโ€™ll have the goodies out by Saturday.

I know yaโ€™ll are geniuses at this sort of thing and I canโ€™t wait to read your suggestions!!!

Iโ€™m off to train a client, then pilates and ZUMBA!

xoxo,

Gina

    Salud

  2. Tyler Ramey on February 17, 2010 at 3:00 pm

    “Cafe Fraiche” (French for Fresh!)

  3. Diane on February 17, 2010 at 3:02 pm

I love Feast-such a cute idea! Maybe in Spanish to reflect your roots? (I don’t know the word though haha)

I know “pure” is “puro” (okay no I don’t, Google helped haha) which sounds cool too.

Also, maybe “Detox Cafe” or something like that-I think people are always intrigued when they hear about detoxes and purifying their body and stuff.

Darn I wish I had something really creative but I think everyone else has got it!!

  4. Lindsey on February 17, 2010 at 3:02 pm

How about “Verde” or “Cafe Verde”… It means Green in Italian so it sounds pretty while also being appropriate ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. seriously on February 17, 2010 at 3:02 pm

It looks as though someone already suggested Fresco. I suggest Almond, Salud or Good Eats as names for Cafe.

  6. rachael on February 17, 2010 at 3:02 pm

My suggestions are Pure Elements or Shine

  11. Christina on February 17, 2010 at 3:04 pm

Also maybe something to do with a healthy lifestyle?
    Lean? LeanMachine?

I know you said you didn’t want to include vegan or raw, but “R.A.W.” can stand for “real and wholesome”

sorry if i repeated anything- there are so many comments!

  12. Lyndsey on February 17, 2010 at 3:04 pm

I have two ideas that jumped int omy mind. Definately different from the others:

    The Smiling Cashew
    and
    Curious?

Hope you come up with an amazing name!

    • Fitnessista on February 17, 2010 at 3:10 pm

smiling cashew!!! how cute is that?!

      • Astrid on February 17, 2010 at 9:10 pm

Glad you like it! I love cashews and they look like little smiles. Plus, lots of people make raw treats with them. You are awesome, though, Gina, I am sure you will pick out the perfect name for your place!

Verdura or Ortaggio (Italian for vegetable, cooked or growing, respectively)
Mangia (Italian for EAT!) [Mangia Fresco would be eat fresh, Mangia pulito would be eat clean]
    Noce (Italian for nut)

  19. Anna on February 17, 2010 at 3:08 pm

What if you call it 40 degrees since that the raw foodism usually includes primarily unheated food, or food warmed to a temperature less than 40 ยฐC???

  20. Anna on February 17, 2010 at 3:08 pm

Some combo of the words feast and beast- you use them a lot! And beast definitely does not make people think of weak, lame, blah food.

  21. Adrien on February 17, 2010 at 3:08 pm

I think you should name it “Bliss Cafe”

You want something short so people can just simply say, ” You want to head to bliss for lunch?”

    you know?

    • Fitnessista on February 17, 2010 at 3:10 pm

      ohhhhh! yeahhhhhh ๐Ÿ˜€

    • Erin Alexandria on February 17, 2010 at 3:56 pm

That seems a popular name as there’s already a raw cafe in Texas named Bliss Cafe
http://www.blissrawcafe.com and there’s also one in New York.

      Good thinking though!

  22. Jackie on February 17, 2010 at 3:09 pm

I like the one namers – Fresh and Pure or Puro are great.

What about something that denotes rawness – “Food for Life”

You’re going to find an amazing name and have tons of customers!

  26. Katy T on February 17, 2010 at 3:09 pm

    How about..
“Zest” (zest for life, orange zest, zesty flavors)
    “Sprout” (growth, alive, hope)
    “Pure Zest”
    “Essence”
“Simplicity” (kind of like the famous Serendipity in NYC)
“True Cafe” (true to the food, true to yourself)

  27. Fergie on February 17, 2010 at 3:10 pm

What about Green Halo? I was just looking at your post on shampoos ๐Ÿ™‚ you could even have a green halo as part of your sign.

  28. Marian on February 17, 2010 at 3:11 pm

    My suggestion:

    Mistica

    Mystique en espanol! ๐Ÿ™‚
Especially with the accent over the first i, which I can’t figure out how to do.

  29. Jennifer on February 17, 2010 at 3:11 pm

I like a simple, one word name like Sustain, or Fresh (I kow that’s been suggested…) how about “Goodness” as in oh my goodness and as in good for you…

    Green Bakery
    Simple Treats

  33. Jerilynne on February 17, 2010 at 3:13 pm

The only thing I could think of is “Delicious.” Can’t you just hear the conversation:

    “Where is lunch from?”
    “It’s Delicious.”

I would eat there. Well, I would eat there no matter what you name it!!

P.S. I also love that you sometimes buy foods just because they’re beautiful. I’ve done that! That’s a sign of a true foodie right there =).

How about The Macaroon or Cafe Macaroon – as in what started the whole idea…

  41. Bethany on February 17, 2010 at 3:17 pm

My suggestion: GROOVE. (Gluten-free Raw Organic Original Vegan Eats) Because when you’re feeding your body right, don’t you just feel like you’ve hit your groove?

    • Fitnessista on February 17, 2010 at 3:30 pm

      AHHHH! i love it!

  42. Carolyn on February 17, 2010 at 3:19 pm

I absolutely LOVE Secret Garden…one of my favorite books! What about Liberte’ or Libertad which mean Freedom in French and Spanish, i.e. freedom from processed food. Liberte’ Cafe’

  43. melissa on February 17, 2010 at 3:19 pm

    How about….
    The LONG LIFE CAFE
    CAFE LONGEVITY
    CAFE ETERNAL
    AMAZING EATZ
    CAFE VIVO or CAFE VIVA

  44. Elizabeth on February 17, 2010 at 3:20 pm

I love this question! And I also love the responses…I have long called one of my sister’s failing projects her “fakery bakery” (seriously girl, go out and get it or quit whining), and I’ve actually been to places with some of these names. Most of them were super hippie-dippie, and not in a good way…and it’s very hard to recommend “The Weirdoname Cafe” to others ๐Ÿ™‚

I love Caitlin’s idea of “One”.

On your behalf, I’d like to veto “Feast” and any other names that are already taken by relatively popular American restaurants (confusing for people who are foodies, sets you up for potential legal issues, and also difficult to market). (Can we tell by now that this topic has something to do with my career?) I’d also like to veto anything like “Origins” that’s already the name of a prominent brand, even if it’s non-food, because let me tell you how I’m not going to eat at “Head and Shoulders Cafe”.

And finally, my contributions, some of which are more awesome than others. I agree that a single word is good, because your tagline can always be “A natural foods cafe” or “Raw, Vegan, Gluten-Free Goodness”, or “Foodgasms by the pound.” Keep it simple ๐Ÿ™‚ The name should inspire the feeling that you want people to have from eating your food. List o’names:
    Heart
    Shine
    Plenty
    Valor
    Vim
    Verve
    Flourish
    Bold

The plans are looking great- how exciting! Also – nice job on the yummy shrimp dinner – sounds great!

  46. Allison on February 17, 2010 at 3:21 pm

I was thinking “Gineva.” It would be a play on your name (obviously) and a reference to Geneva, the “Peace capital” of the world and the place where countries have met to forge new pathways to behave more ethically and diplomatically.

    Cocina Casera
