Tamater of my dreams + giveaway

Hey everyone! Hope your humpday is treating you well ๐Ÿ˜€

For dinner last night, I broke out this treasured heirloom tomato.

heirloom

I got it a Whole Foods on Sunday because it was so beautiful, and decided it was destined for some caprese before our dinner last night.

I sliced it up and topped with sea salt and pepper

caprese

Topped mine with raw goat cheddar and the pilotโ€™s with havarti, and fresh organic basil

caprese (2)

It was pretty face-rocking amazing ๐Ÿ™‚

For dinner, we had a little Italian shrimp stir-fry thingy that I made up on the spot.

dinner

I sauteed an onion and garlic, then added a can of organic diced tomatoes, oregano, rosemary, sea salt, pepper, a splash of balsamic and red pepper flakes. Then I added in some organic shrimp, topped with fresh basil and served with roasted asparagus.

Not too shabby ๐Ÿ˜‰

The pilot had a lot of studying stuff to do last night (wah wah) so I chilled and watched American Idol and then called it a night.

This morning, I met the girls for a weights sesh (munched an apple on the way) and we dominated our core. Iโ€™m going to be sooooore tomorrow. It feels nice to know you did something ๐Ÿ™‚

After weightstravaganza, I couldnโ€™t wait to have another Cherry Chocolate Bomb smoothie (Kristen’s recipe). I made the same changes that I made the other night and it was equally amazing.

cherry

I did some work on the computer, then had a slice of millet for snack covered in a blanket of nutritional yeast and chili powder.

milet

After running some errands, I had a quick meeting with the cafe owners to go over the plans for the cafe.

I still canโ€™t believe this is really happening!

plans

The thing is, we need some help. Weโ€™ve been thinking of names for a few weeks and havenโ€™t found anything we love. (The pilot has contributed the funniest hippie sounding names he could come up withโ€ฆgoofer). I want to name for the cafe to be something intriguing, but without the words โ€œveganโ€ or โ€œrawโ€ because I donโ€™t want to scare anyone away by thinking we only serve carrot sticks. So, what would you name a high-raw, gluten-free, vegan cafe??

By leaving a suggestion below, youโ€™re giving us permission to use the name you suggest (or a variation) ๐Ÿ˜€

The creator of the name we end up using will receive a batch of macaroons and $50 worth of goodies from the health food store (think almond butter, bars, nutritional yeast, or whatever fun things you might be needing).

Weโ€™ll pick a โ€œwinnerโ€ by Friday and Iโ€™ll have the goodies out by Saturday.

I know yaโ€™ll are geniuses at this sort of thing and I canโ€™t wait to read your suggestions!!!

Iโ€™m off to train a client, then pilates and ZUMBA!

xoxo,

Gina

    How about Substance?

  13. melissa lillie on February 17, 2010 at 3:34 pm

    I have three
    1. My favorite is- “succulent” (because they are plants that retain their water- just like raw and high raw food!)
Succulent would be cool because you could have tshirts and hats made that say succulent on them and the branding could have a small little jade plant- and you could have real succulents decorating the restaurant.

2 and 3 ideas are “amour vert” OR “Green love”

    I love heirlooms…mmmm.

  14. Melissa on February 17, 2010 at 3:36 pm

    RAWR!

I know you don’t want to use the word raw…But I think you should play it up, get people pumped!

    xo

  15. michele on February 17, 2010 at 3:37 pm

The first this that came to my head was Macaroon b/c like someone else said, that is what started the whole idea. So how about “Maca-Roon”. Should peak people curiosity and still be true to what this is all about!

  16. nic on February 17, 2010 at 3:38 pm

    i like:

    b.alive
    la mano verde

    Infused Cafe… or Nude(y)

  18. LisaM on February 17, 2010 at 3:39 pm

I always thought the name “Sante!” would be really cute for a healthy cafe. It means “to your health” in french and is used as a toast during times of celebration. It just sounds happy! It also refers to being healthy but not in an obvious or off putting way.

  19. Jackie on February 17, 2010 at 3:39 pm

“Pure Goodness”, I think that has a nice ring to it.

  20. Liz on February 17, 2010 at 3:40 pm

I’ve been reading your blog for awhile now but have yet to comment, but I couldn’t help it today! Congrats on the cafe, here’s some of my ideas!

    Vida
    Uncooked Cafe
    Simplicity
    Cafe Soleil

Hopefully those weren’t repeats, so many great ideas so far!

  21. Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg on February 17, 2010 at 3:40 pm

Okay, I just asked my husband and he said, “We’ve Only Just Vegan” and “Rawsome Blossom.” Oh geez.

That is a tough one! I think having “Earth” or “Light” in the title would be good! Goddess Cafe? Garden of Good?

Oh geez– now he’s on a roll– “What about something with the word raunchy? What about Vegan Steven?” ๐Ÿ™‚

  22. Marisa on February 17, 2010 at 3:41 pm

i know you dont want the word raw in it.. but i thought Rawsturant sounded kinda cool. :] good luck!

  32. Emily on February 17, 2010 at 3:45 pm

    On Your Way

It indicates a couple different things:
    1) the personal journey that you, Gina, are embarking on. You are on your way.
    2) That you can pick up foods here as you are heading out to run errands, on a road trip, etc. Those people who are “on their way” to completing tasks a, b, and c
    3) It is a healthy restaurant/cafe. People who stop in for food are on their way to a healthy life.

    Good luck with the naming!

  33. Leila on February 17, 2010 at 3:46 pm

Love all these responses! Two words that came to mind to use were Eden (if you’re willing to use a biblical reference – would be an advantage in the South!) and True. That being said, I’m totally digging the suggestion of Groove – plus it totally fits since you’re a dancer!

  37. Krista on February 17, 2010 at 3:51 pm

WOW! You’ve got a lot of great names to choose from here!

I’m curious to know what the Pilot is studying for??? If it’s not too personal a question, that is.

I didn’t read everyone’s comments, so not sure if these were already suggested or are trademarked somewhere, but here goes:
    -Zenfully Delicious
    -In the Raw
    -Veganista
    -Unbake ‘n’ Take

  45. Annie on February 17, 2010 at 3:55 pm

How exciting about your cafe! There’s a word “Genshai” which was introduced to me through yoga and it means never treating another being in a manner that would make them feel small, yourself included. This translates to raw vegan eating for me because I think that by feeding yourself alive, wholesome foods you are respecting yourself to the utmost as well other all other earthly critters. I feel that when a person eats a raw or vegan meal, they are practicing Genshai. So, maybe Genshai Cafe? or Cafe Genshai? or just Genshai? Plus the first 3 letters mimic your name…..you will be there in spirit even when you move ๐Ÿ˜‰

  46. Elizabeth on February 17, 2010 at 3:56 pm

    The Bumble Bee
