The Goods

Hi everyone! Happy almost-Friday! Hope you’re having a glorious morning 🙂

Who celebrated Indian Food Wednesday?

I did, as my morning snack 🙂

When I stopped at Whole Foods for a lovely green juice:

juice

(green apple, lemon, parsley and spinach.. she was a little heavy-handed with the lemon, but it didn’t stop me from chugging it after yoga)

I just “happened” to meander past the hot bar and saw my favorite soup: dal saag!

dal saag

It has lentils, spinach and is supah spicy. I love it 🙂 Kind of a random mid-morning snack, but it’s what I was feeling and it was SO delicious;)

Some other eats of late:

souther

My favorite Amy’s meal!

southern

A thousand more dark chocolate Dove eggs – they’re just so good but I think I *may* finally be egged out.

Panera dinner:

panera

1/2 Mediterranean salmon salad with no cheese and 1/2 veggie sandwich on wheat with no cheese. I ended up eating the wheat baguette and just munched the veggies out of the sandwich portion.. I like my bread but didn’t see a reason to have 3 servings of the stuff with dinner. The baguette won the bread battle because it was wheatier, seedier and crustier 😉

Per some requests…

The clothes I’ve purchased over the past couple of days:

goods

The pink shirt and 2 pairs of heels are from Forever 21 and the blue, black, white shirt, shorts and black skirt are all from Express. I also grabbed some beauty products, gifts and accessories, but didn’t feel like un-bagging them to snap pics 😉

I’m off to Israel’s spin class (yessssssss) and then going to do some weights. After that, it’s time to park my booty at Beefcake and Noble (aka Barnes and Noble) and get some work done and get back to your lovely emails 😀

Have a wonderful day <3

Gina

When you hit up the mall, what’s the first store you make a beeline for?? I always hit up Express, Forever 21, Victoria’s Secret, Williams-Sonoma and Crate and Barrel 🙂

Also, would ya’ll be interested in another Summer Shape Up? If so, I was thinking of launching it in late May.

Hey G$, here’s a question for you… I need to bring a healthy dish over to my in-laws because my MIL isn’t feeling well. Cooking healthy at home is easy, but doing the potluck or freezer meal thing is more challenging! What would you bring? Or a better question is, if someone was to deliver a meal for you and the pilot, what would be good options?

    <3 enjoy vacay!

    • Fitnessista on April 8, 2010 at 10:29 am

the sweet potato and black bean chili with vegan cornbread would be GLORIOUS (on the “cookbook” tab at the top)
or a spinach and goat cheese quiche with a greek salad (i’d google a recipe and make it without crust and use goat jack cheese instead of gouda)
or butternut squash and goat cheese lasagna (cooking light online)
quinoa confetti casserole (eat, drink and be vegan)
hope you find something that will work!

      • Elizabeth on April 8, 2010 at 2:58 pm

you’re the best! and now your friends know what to bring you guys if you’re ever under the weather! 😉

        • Fitnessista on April 8, 2010 at 5:08 pm

haha that would be AMAZING! 🙂

  2. Andrea on April 8, 2010 at 10:24 am

Cute clothes, you make me want to go shopping. I would love another summer shape up!

  3. Andrea on April 8, 2010 at 10:26 am

I’m jealous, I live by several whole foods and none of them have a juice bar. Your juice always sounds so delicious!

Cute clothes! I love anthropologie, I also LOVE BCBG, that place is my weakness lol

I’m definitely up for the summer shape up!

  4. Maura on April 8, 2010 at 10:31 am

Hi Gina! I’ve been reading your blog for a while (lurker-guilty!) and just wanted to say Hi. I found your Summer Shape up from last year and would LOVE to see a new one for 2010! The 2009 version is so helpful! Oh, and I always hit up J. Crew, Ann Taylor Loft, Banana Republic, and VS. Now I just need the income to support my rather expensive habit haha

    • Fitnessista on April 8, 2010 at 10:33 am

whoo hoo for stepping out of lurkdom! HI! 😀
and i feel ya on the expensive habit… haha

  5. Carrie on April 8, 2010 at 10:36 am

Oh! Your clothes make me so excited for summer! I usually try to hit up the Ann Taylors, Banana Republic and maybe Express (even though I’m boycotting them because half the stuff I own from there is falling apart, even if I just bought it *eye twitch*).

I have a question. How do you hold it together on the weekends? LoL, what I mean is, I do so well with my eating during the week because I’m on a schedule, but when it comes to weekends, I feel like I fall apart. I either overeat, don’t eat enough or am totally off balance for those 2 days. How do you maintain the social aspects of the weekends without blowing your eating habits?

    • Fitnessista on April 8, 2010 at 10:47 am

      hey carrie,
usually on the weekends i’ll have a treat night, where i eat whatever the heck i want. for the rest of the weekend, i try to stick with my usual “gina style” of eating. it doesn’t always work out that way, but i definitely make an effort to eat like i would any other day

  6. Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter on April 8, 2010 at 10:37 am

I would LOVE to see a summer shape up 🙂

and I most definitely hit up Nordstrom, Express, Charlotte Russe and VS. What glorious stores 🙂

I would like to see the workout move of the week back!

    • Fitnessista on April 8, 2010 at 10:46 am

me too! i need to get back into that 🙂

  8. Evey, "Don't Fight the Apple, Eve" on April 8, 2010 at 10:38 am

The goods look awesome. I haven’t done any of the other shape-ups but definitely want to start.

  9. Erica on April 8, 2010 at 10:47 am

I go directly to Urban Outfitters!

I’m currently doing the winter shape up and it’s going really well! I’d love a new summer one!

  10. christina on April 8, 2010 at 10:52 am

oh gosh i want that pink shirt from forever 21 so bad! i almost bought it the other day!

  11. Christina on April 8, 2010 at 11:01 am

I always park at Macy’s and start in there. They have everything!

  12. Amanda on April 8, 2010 at 11:08 am

    Summer shape up please! 🙂

  13. Eira on April 8, 2010 at 11:09 am

I did your winter shape-up and thanks to you I’m actually starting to get more toned, so I’d love a summer shape-up 🙂

  14. Kelly on April 8, 2010 at 11:10 am

    A Summer Shape-Up sounds FABULOUS!

  15. Kelly on April 8, 2010 at 11:13 am

Oh, I always go to Ann Taylor Loft and Banana Republic. I also wander through Crate and Barrel looking for something perfect. We still have a bunch of gift cards from C&B from our wedding (almost 2 1/2 years ago), but I’m really bad at deciding what I want to use them on. I want it to be something good, but not too bulky since we’ll probably be moving in a year or so.

  16. Ellen on April 8, 2010 at 11:17 am

A summer shapeup would be awesome because um, I blinked and bikini season was HERE. So not ready for it! There aren’t any malls here in NYC, but when I’m out shopping, I usually hit up Zara, Urban, Gap and American Eagle. They all have cute, good basics!

  18. Tara @ mealsfromthemitten.blogspot.com on April 8, 2010 at 11:27 am

Those shoes are adorable! Love them.

  19. claire! on April 8, 2010 at 11:30 am

I’m a jcrew girl at heart (the sale section more often than not, they usually have great sales), and always have to hit up Nordstrom Rack (the nordstrom outlet – heaven on earth).

CUTE shirts!!! Also LOVED your headband from the other day.

    • Fitnessista on April 8, 2010 at 11:36 am

      ahhhh i love nordstrom rack!

  20. Jessica @ The Process of Healing on April 8, 2010 at 11:30 am

I LOVE those heels!!! And those are seriously my favorite stores too! Forever21 is my absolute favorite. And I also like American Eagle.

That’s my favorite Amy’s dinner too!!!!! As a southern girl, it comes pretty darn close to the real thing!

  21. Tara on April 8, 2010 at 11:31 am

Summer Shape Up PLEASE!!! My motivation is way down the drain, and this would definitely get me back in the gym!!!!

  22. Mary @ What's Cookin' with Mary on April 8, 2010 at 11:38 am

Your clothes are SO cute G! I really need to go get a few new things for summer…

My favorite Amy’s meal is the mexican bowl YUM

The first store I go to I always Nordstrom… What can I say, I’m addicted. Then Express, then crate and barrel/ William Sonoma 🙂

    YAY! Almost Fri 🙂

  23. Bethanie on April 8, 2010 at 11:49 am

I love Urban Outfitters and Old Navy for basics. But honestly, I rarely shop…I am too poor. 🙁 I have such serious life envy (of yours) right now!

    • Fitnessista on April 8, 2010 at 11:53 am

don’t have life envy! i promise my life is totally different than it seems on the blog
and i sold some training packages last week so i’d have shopping and food money this week <3

      • Bethanie on April 8, 2010 at 12:01 pm

haha! yes, i know..it is just hard…..and you seem to have it all together, all the time and i am a big hot mess!

        • Fitnessista on April 8, 2010 at 12:06 pm

          i promise that i’m a hot mess many a day 🙂

  24. Katherine on April 8, 2010 at 11:50 am

I would love another summer shape up! I’ve been on a great workout kick (just signed up for my first 5k!!!) so the added motivation would be awesome!

I’ve commented a few times before, but I don’t think I’ve ever told you that you’re awesome! I absolutely love your blog and look forward to reading it everyday.

    • Fitnessista on April 8, 2010 at 11:53 am

thank you so much, katherine! what a lovely compliment 🙂
      xoxo

  25. Lindsay on April 8, 2010 at 11:51 am

Definitely interested in a new Summer Shape Up!! I’m actually following the old one right now (on week 2), since I’m trying to get into a habit of doing strength training!

  26. Catherine on April 8, 2010 at 11:52 am

Williams-Sonoma is totally my achilles heel! In NYC we don’t exactly have malls, but instead whole blocks of just store after store so I usually end up stumbling into some little boutique because I love unique finds 🙂

    • Fitnessista on April 8, 2010 at 11:54 am

haha nyc is evil like that 🙂

  27. Kady @ Livin, Lovin, Learnin on April 8, 2010 at 12:04 pm

A Summer Shape Up would be great! I started doing the Winter Shape-Up a few weeks ago and it’s kicking my butt into shape and giving me so much motivation! I LOVE IT!

I’ll be training for a 10K throughout June, so maybe I could just start late.

  28. Amy on April 8, 2010 at 12:09 pm

Ooh la la I might have to go shopping at Express and Forever 21 today! I haven’t been to either in forever, but from the looks of it, I might want everything!

  29. Ashley on April 8, 2010 at 12:16 pm

I love Charlotte Russe and Crate and Barrel. Everytime I walk in Crate and Barrel I always discover stuff that I “need” that I didn’t even know I needed, though lol It’s evil.

  30. Allison @ Food For Healing on April 8, 2010 at 12:21 pm

i’m not much of a shopper, I guess mostly because i have ZERO money to my name.

Summer Shape up would be a fantastic idea! You help motivate people and give some sort of structure to our lives haha

  31. Hanna on April 8, 2010 at 12:24 pm

yes to the summer shape up! that would be awesome!

  32. Stina @ Girl Can on April 8, 2010 at 12:30 pm

I would love a summer shape-up. I’m a newer reader so I haven’t done one of your shape-ups yet. They seem wicked awesome!

    • Fitnessista on April 8, 2010 at 12:41 pm

      hi stina!
welcome to my little blog 🙂
i’ll definitely be doing a summer shape up!

  33. Katherine on April 8, 2010 at 12:34 pm

I was just thinking I need to do more weight training. Please do a shape up!
Would you ever do a spring one? I need to start ASAP! 🙂
    Katherine

    • Fitnessista on April 8, 2010 at 12:40 pm

      hey girl,
i usually do them in the winter and summer- but if you’d like to start now, there are quite a few workouts under the workout tab at the top of the page 🙂

  34. Kim on April 8, 2010 at 12:40 pm

    LOVE those brown shoes! Nice!

  35. Emily B on April 8, 2010 at 12:40 pm

yes, yes, yes!!! to another summer shape up. love your workout suggestions.

  36. Jessica on April 8, 2010 at 1:07 pm

Love that it was Indian Wedneday, and really love the shoes! Great purchases!

  37. fittingbackin on April 8, 2010 at 1:08 pm

I’m interested in summer shape up!!

I always hit up Macy’s, Forever, H&M, Anthro and Ann Taylor loft!

hehe I’ve had too many girl scout cookies lately! eek!

  38. Tyler on April 8, 2010 at 1:27 pm

Dark Chocolate Dove Eggs!!! Omg, I have those, too, and they are so addictive!

Love all your new clothes!! Very cute 🙂

  39. Donna Porter on April 8, 2010 at 1:34 pm

I say heck yeah to Summer Shape Up! I don’t like to shop for clothing for myself…I need to lose weight and haven’t worn shorts in about ten years…just don’t feel “pretty” in them.

  40. Ash Bear on April 8, 2010 at 1:40 pm

Heck yes i’d like a shape up. You know I haven’t been in Express in ages but these shirts make me want to go back. When I was in college and needed interviewing clothes I LOVED their Editor pant in long!
Question for you, i’ve shed 5 lbs so far and have 5 more to go (at least) and last year’s clothes are starting to fit again. But, my upper thighs are just not cutting it with my shorts. Other than spinning and running (which i’m already doing) do you have any suggestions for that tough to get area? I know 5 more lbs will help and “target training” doesnt really work but i’m open to ideas:)

    • Fitnessista on April 8, 2010 at 5:10 pm

i’d say definitely stick with the spinning and running, maybe add in some pilates or yoga?? i find that they help “lean out” legs 🙂
working on coming to nyc in august!!! 🙂

  41. Donna on April 8, 2010 at 1:51 pm

Hands down, Forever 21 is my favorite…and Wet Seal…I could so drop a fortune in both places.

  42. Kristin (Cook, Bake and Nibble) on April 8, 2010 at 2:01 pm

That soup looks delish, that is my FAVE Amy’s meal, Panera’s multigrain bread is amazing and those clothes are so cute!

What fun it looks like you’re having!!

    xo

  43. Jenna on April 8, 2010 at 2:08 pm

I head straight to J Crew and Banana. I find that Banana has a lot of modern ‘classic’ pieces that you can mix and match with just about anything.

    I heart Panera’s baguette’s!

  44. Diana on April 8, 2010 at 2:11 pm

I usually go to Fnac, it’s a huge store with music, movies, books etc. I’m a huge geek yes 😀

  45. Jessica on April 8, 2010 at 2:50 pm

At the Mall my #1 stop is Anthropologie!!!! Also Williams-Sonoma. They have fun cooking classes, too!

  46. highonhealthy on April 8, 2010 at 3:05 pm

Summer Shape Up? Heck yes. Please. Haha, I definitely need it.

Cute new clothes and shoes! Some of my favorite stores are Mariposa, Le Chateau, TNA, anything with cute sale items.

  47. s on April 8, 2010 at 4:00 pm

yesss to the summer shape-up. i’m still kinda doing the winter one, haha.

  48. Kristin on April 8, 2010 at 4:41 pm

Most definitely to the Summer Shapeup!! 🙂

  49. andie on April 8, 2010 at 4:56 pm

can you please do summer shape up! earlier would be better because im wearing a white dress for graduation on may 30th so howbout early may????

    thanks!

    • Fitnessista on April 8, 2010 at 5:07 pm

i would but we’re going on vacation :/

      • Fitnessista on April 8, 2010 at 5:07 pm

maybe do the workout from last year’s summer shape up in the meantime??

  50. Blair on April 8, 2010 at 5:15 pm

I would love another summer shape-up! I’ve been using the HTP strength training plan you created for Caitlin and the results have been great, but I’m on week 7 or so and it’d be fun to mix up the moves a bit. I’m not very good with creating my own ST programs so I really like having a plan laid out for me!
