This week…

1. I had another reminder that things in my brain sometimes do not translate well to real life.

pizza

That would be a teff flour tortilla “pizza” with marinara, artichokes, gout gouda, oregano and… sardines. I covered the entire thing in hot sauce.

And no, it wasn’t good at all. I was green in the gills (literally. baha) all night.

pizza (2)

2. Quite a few baller workouts went down, played on the laptop in the living room. You really can work out anywhere 🙂 {Our DVD player is in the POD… along with my life}

turbo

<3 TurboFire

3. I really need a haircut. Things are getting out of control over here.

hair

4. The Pilot flew quite a few times this week. I hate it because I worry about him, but kinda love when he comes home smelling like jet fuel.

pilot

5. Kindness always wins. <3

6. I’m a little nervous to teach a salsa class tomorrow…. if you have any fun top 40 music ideas that I could use for salsa –it’s fun to switch it up from Latin all the time- please let me know! (So far I have “I want you back” by Michael Jackson and “Tonight Tonight” Hot Chelle Rae)

7. Mara gets here TONIGHT! We’re going to have a blasty this weekend 🙂

mara

I’m off to get a haircut and then to work for a couple of hours- see ya with a Family post (or a Fashion Friday) around lunch 🙂

xoxo

Awww, I love Mara’s blog! I hope you two have loads of fun. Can’t wait to read about it <3

(PS. You handled that negative commenter beautifully. I'm glad you aren't letting such things get to you…[or at least I hope you aren't!] pregnant ladies deserve to be stress-free balls of happiness <33)

    That “pizza” looks delish!

  3. Ash @ Good Taste Healthy Me on July 8, 2011 at 11:16 am

Your hair is so long but looks healthy. Do you have to straighten it?

    • Fitnessista on July 8, 2011 at 11:22 am

      yes, it’s super wavy!

      • geetha on July 8, 2011 at 11:28 am

        • Fitnessista on July 8, 2011 at 11:30 am

  4. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on July 8, 2011 at 11:16 am

I hear ya on the haircut, I need one too! The teff pizza sounds good in my head too, but I’m glad you tested it! Have a lovely time with Mara!

  5. Brigid of Vegging out in T-Town on July 8, 2011 at 11:17 am

Hey, I have that purple shirt from Express! 🙂 For what it’s worth, the pizza sounds good to me, too, minus the sardines. I hate when what’s in my head doesn’t translate to actual kitchen magic.

  6. Jackie @ Baking Charms on July 8, 2011 at 11:17 am

I can’t put off my haircut any longer, either. I hate when it gets unmanageable but I’ve been super lazy about it since moving.

    Have a great weekend!

  7. Sara K on July 8, 2011 at 11:18 am

That pizza does look delicious despite what you said haha. Ugh I need a haircut too, my split ends are outta control (but I feel like they always are!)

  8. Katelyn @ Chef Katelyn on July 8, 2011 at 11:18 am

Hahaha I toootally thought you had put chia seeds on top of that pizza! Oooooh jet fuel….they should sell that stuff like armani for men 😉

    • Fitnessista on July 8, 2011 at 11:21 am

  9. kim on July 8, 2011 at 11:18 am

yes, end of the month!!! wahoo!!!

  11. Laury @ thefitnessdish on July 8, 2011 at 11:21 am

hahah I took the same pic of myself to caption how bad I needed a haircut but decided not to post it because my long longs are even more out of control than THAT! (pregnancy makes it THICK and LONG and I haven’t had it cut since December…really bad)

Green to the gills….hahahahah oh boy.

    Happy Friday!!

  12. Valery R on July 8, 2011 at 11:21 am

I LOVE LOVE LOVEEEE your doggie! So adorable! 🙂

  13. Ashley @ Thefitacademic on July 8, 2011 at 11:22 am

It’s funny how something can LOOK so good (the “pizza” looked yum), but be so gross. The sardines and hot sauce sound a little out of place when you describe it ; )

    • Fitnessista on July 8, 2011 at 11:24 am

haha i have no idea what i was thinking, but it sounded SO good at the time. it was hard to post the pics haha

  14. Olivia on July 8, 2011 at 11:23 am

This just made me look at my own hair and realize that I need a cut too- more so then you, your hair still looks great!

  15. Jacqueline@smartsolitude.com on July 8, 2011 at 11:26 am

Don’t cut too much off, it’s pretty long 🙂

    • Fitnessista on July 8, 2011 at 11:29 am

i won’t- just need the dead ends cut off 🙂

  16. Mandy on July 8, 2011 at 11:30 am

LOVE Turbo Fire! 🙂 Can’t get enough of Chalene!

Some songs I love in our Zumba/hip hop class are Shake Your Pom Pom by Missy Elliott, The Way You Love Me by Keri Hilson (um.. the edited version), Girls on the Dance Floor by Far East Movement, Give Me Everything – Pitbull & Neyo and Rump Shaker 🙂

We have been doing JLo’s On The Floor and Good Hit, too!

I could go on and on 🙂 Have fun teaching!!!!

  17. Cait's Plate on July 8, 2011 at 11:33 am

Gaahhh – that pizza looks SO good!

  18. Laura on July 8, 2011 at 11:36 am

I still need to buy Turbofire! My house right now is too small to move in, seriously. I don’t think home workouts were very popular in 1890. 😉 BUT I could use them at my mom’s who is just a few miles from my place, fo sho!

My coworker, Jaime, just walked by and saw the picture of you above. He said, “wow!” 😀 Apparently your long, wavy hair is H-O-T!

    • Fitnessista on July 8, 2011 at 11:43 am

      aww! 🙂

  19. Jenna on July 8, 2011 at 11:45 am

    • Fitnessista on July 8, 2011 at 11:57 am

      thanks girl 🙂

  20. Kara on July 8, 2011 at 11:45 am

ohhh i’m so nervous to start turbofire soon. i downloaded it (illegally, shhhhhh) and am sort of patiently waiting for my sister to finish burning it onto dvds for me. i’m excited but scared!!! it sounds so awesome but i’m worried i’m going to embarrass myself.. ya know, in front of.. myself.
also, love the hair annnd love the purple shirt in the last pic!

  21. Gina @ Running to the Kitchen on July 8, 2011 at 11:46 am

I love your long hair! It’s been almost 4 months since my last haircut but mine is much shorter and is in that awkward “in between” phase. Not sure what to do with it!

  22. Hillary on July 8, 2011 at 11:51 am

    The pizza LOOKS delicious!

  23. Sarah for Real on July 8, 2011 at 11:51 am

Oh I love the smell of jet fuel! My dad was a pilot in the Army and the smell of jet fuel on his green flight suit was so comforting to me as a kid. I still have the most vivid memories of that smell when I’d give him a big hug when he got home from work.

  25. Yolie @ Practising Wellness on July 8, 2011 at 12:06 pm

You’re right about working out anywhere, you can get some of the most amazing workouts with just your body weight, a yoga mat, and a DVD of some kind! Plus a bit of self-motivation! It’s amazing, and I love how accessible working out can be when you put your mind to it! 😀 Dude, I hate it when that happens, you have this idea of something tasty in your head and it flops. Ah well! You win some, lose some 😉 Good luck with your salsa class! I totally get nervous before teaching yoga too, so sending you lots of supportive “you can do it” vibes (not like you need them, but still). Take care! xyx

  26. Meg @ One Love Meg on July 8, 2011 at 12:12 pm

I need a haircut too. Lately I’ve been noticing far too many split ends for my liking. 😛

  31. RhodeyGirl on July 8, 2011 at 1:06 pm

Oh I miss teaching salsa SO much!

There are a bunch of Michael Jackson songs that work… and if you can find a fast version of Hotel California I always liked using that.

  32. Namaste Gurl on July 8, 2011 at 1:09 pm

I’m sorry your tortilla pizza was a no go; wishing you a better week ahead!

  36. Emily @ Sweating Sugar on July 8, 2011 at 1:35 pm

I wish my hair looked like yours on a bad day! I always love trying your recipes but I won’t be trying your sardine pizza thing. You can’t win them all right?

  37. kaila@healthy helper blog ! on July 8, 2011 at 2:00 pm

Okay it might be weird but I actually like sardines on pizza….lol! Guess everyone just has different tastes!

    • Fitnessista on July 8, 2011 at 3:27 pm

i thought i would love them! not quite :/

  38. Cait @ Beyond Bananas on July 8, 2011 at 3:06 pm

You look so seductive in the picture of your hair… love it!

    • Fitnessista on July 8, 2011 at 3:26 pm

haha if seductive equals sleepy, that was how i was feeling 🙂

  39. mi-an on July 8, 2011 at 3:12 pm

i would devoured that sardines pizza! 🙂 honestly. just got my bangs and hair trimmed last week…much needed! btw, what shampoo and conditioner do you use? my sis in law uses kerastase but so expensive!! right now i have organix ..

    • Fitnessista on July 8, 2011 at 3:26 pm

i change my shampoo and conditioner every time i run out so my hair doesn’t get used to it. it’s been rotating through pureology and halo lately

  40. Melissa @ Live, Love, & Run on July 8, 2011 at 3:17 pm

Hey, I’m feeling you on the hair front, my friend. LOL My hair is literally down to my waist these days…and getting a cut and color (going darker!) is my “reward” in 4 weeks. I almost feel bad for my locks. I’ll have to post a picture of them on my blog…they look great, but they need some TLC. Yours, though…they’re beautiful! Why do anything to them!?

Been there done that on the “this sounds good, but didn’t taste so great” concoctions. We can’t be successful 100% of the time, right? 🙂

  41. Danielle (Shrinking and Studying) on July 8, 2011 at 3:35 pm

Haha, that pizza LOOKS good… I hate when you invent a really good looking meal and then it tastes like poo! 🙁 Maybe anchovies are more of a pizza thing for a reason? I don’t think I’ve ever had anchovies or sardines!

I think your hair looks super nice! Do you color it or is that your natural color? Mine is super wavy too but it takes FOREVER to straighten so I usually end up wearing it up.

My boyfriend and I have been thinking about getting a Shiba puppy! That’s what Vies was right? I just love her, she’s so adorable!

    • Fitnessista on July 8, 2011 at 3:51 pm

i used to color it, but it’s been a while!
yes, vies is a shiba and she’s amazing 🙂

  42. Yaara on July 8, 2011 at 3:39 pm

That pizza does look good–and it sounds good too–I guess what’s in our heads doesn’t always translate to reality. I watched “Take the Lead” last night–loooved!! Your should check out there soundtrack from amazon–for some reason it’s not on itunes–there’s some great latin/hip-hop stuff I think you’d like for Salsa. A fave of mine is “Feel it” by Black Eyed Peas.

    • Fitnessista on July 8, 2011 at 3:51 pm

i haven’t seen that movie in way too long! thanks for the tip 🙂

  43. Errign on July 8, 2011 at 4:36 pm

I had protein pancakes for breakfast – so good as usual! This time I subbed half and half applesauce & water for the milk because I didn’t have any – awesomeeeee.

  44. Steph on July 8, 2011 at 4:36 pm

My advice is to get your hair cut again right before the baby comes. Because once your sweet baby is here, you won’t have time to do that sort of thing for quite a while! I didn’t get a haircut or get to paint my toes until my son was about 9 months old. Yikes!

  45. Ash on July 8, 2011 at 5:12 pm

my hair wishes it was your hair 🙂 sooo gorge.
i made such a random observation in this post: neither you nor Pilot are wearing wedding rings but you are very happily married! do you guys normally rock it that way? if so, just wondering the thought behind it!

I love it long and slightly wild looking 🙂 Pregnancy does a body good when it comes to hair growth, huh! 🙂

That pizza LOOKS great. Especially with the artichoke hearts. <3 them. I'm sorry it didn't turn out so well. Do you think the sardines ruined it or just it was fail in general?
