Time to [Foam] Roll with it

Hey everyone! Happy almost-Friday 😀 Any fun plans for this weekend???

I have something fun for you! 😀

The OpenSky promo I’ve been telling ya’ll about….

this is for all the people out there who need a foam roller in their life.

file_56_21.png

As you guys know, I’m a foam rolling fanatic, ever since my IT band started bothering me with the spinning/running/Zumba combo. I have a deep and profound love for the foam roller- we spend quality time together every night 🙂 The foam roller is an amazing tool for relieving sore muscles. It does the exact same thing a massage would do for a fraction of the cost.

So for those of you who don’t own a foam roller yet, from now until tomorrow night at midnight, they’re on sale for $16 (instead of $20!) in my Open Sky store.

*I paid $25 for mine –and it’s shorter.. I actually like the big ones better (TWSS)- and would do it again in a second. I use it all the time!!

Shipping is $6.99

Here’s the kicker:

– We need at least 10 people to order one in order for the discount to apply – not worried about that!

– We only have 90 total – this I’m worried about!

So act fast, my friends! A foam roller would also make an awesome gift for an active friend or relative 😀

Happy shopping!    <—- Click to get your foam rolling shopping action on 😉

In very happy and wonderful news,

INDIAN IS OPEN AGAIN!

I could wait to continue our Wednesday night tradition of Indian feast after Pilates and Zumba.

The restaurant is under new ownership, so while the menu was different, it was technically the same 🙂

*Note: All pics were taken with the Crackberry- I left my memory card at home :/

IMG00106-20100317-1943

They brought out the standard chips and dippers (pappadum and chutney)

IMG00107-20100317-1950

I liked the new pappadum better. It was crunchy, light and not as greasy as it used to be. The chutneys were about the same… I love the green one 😀

You’ll never guess what I ordered:

IMG00108-20100317-1958

The standard (or “The Gina”). Baigan Bhartha with tandoori roti.

I devoured it and it was beautiful 😀

The only thing I didn’t like quite as much was that this baigan bhartha was a tad greasy. I mean, I wouldn’t kick it out of bed or anything, but the greasiness was a turn-off. The spiciness however, was perfect.

Indian is back, baby. Lurve.

Well I’m off to meet the girls at the gym for weights, make some macaroons (I still owe Bethany hers and some for Kilee as well) and then apply for our passports. I think our Europe trip may actually be happening?!

See ya this afternoon <3

Gina

I have never had Indian food…STILL! I am slowly entering that phase by eating naan every day. Worth it. 🙂

  2. Beth @ Beth's Journey to Thin on March 18, 2010 at 9:32 am

Ohhh I love Indian food and haven’t had it in so long! Looks delicious.

  3. Tyler Ramey on March 18, 2010 at 9:37 am

I will have you know that my blogger pal Ashlie (thevegster.wordpress.com) and I will be eating Indian tomorrow for lunch, and I will totally be inspired by you as to what to order. What do you typically get, and what is it made of?!?! I am going to be popping my Indian cherry (that sentence is wrong on so many levels) and I need the help of the sista! Never had it, but so stoked!

    • Fitnessista on March 18, 2010 at 9:48 am

      hahah!
i love baigan bhartha (obv) — eggplant with tomato and spices
i think you’d like the channa masala (you like chickpeas, right??) and you definitely have to get some naan 🙂
      enjoy, you’ll love it!

      • Tyler Ramey on March 18, 2010 at 9:49 am

I love Chickpeas!!!! Hmmmm….maybe I should get both, to accurately taste test…right?!?! 😉 Is the naan whole wheat, or do they even offer that?

        • Fitnessista on March 18, 2010 at 9:59 am

          yes, you need both 🙂
ask for the tandoori roti (it’s the whole wheat naan), which is the one i get 😀 all of the other types of naan are made with white flour

  4. Jessica on March 18, 2010 at 9:38 am

We went for Indian a few nights ago, and it’s sooo good. I could eat a lot more of it than I do.

    • Fitnessista on March 18, 2010 at 9:47 am

i could have it every day 🙂

  5. avery on March 18, 2010 at 9:38 am

I always assumed you took your pictures from your phone.
How do you upload your pictures to your computer without taking up so much memory and time?
Crazy question, but I’ve wondered lots!! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on March 18, 2010 at 9:47 am

no, i use an actual camera.
i just pop the memory stick into my computer and the pics upload.. it’s actually slower doing it from my phone because i have to email them!

  6. Jenny on March 18, 2010 at 9:43 am

So I went to the lunch buffet one (read: one!!!!) time … i felt like i was ready to burst! Full term food baby:)

  7. Jessica @ The Process of Healing on March 18, 2010 at 9:48 am

Yay for the Europe trip! You have probably said, but where are you going? I’m going to Ireland in June and I’m dying from excitement at this point – we planned the trip about 1 1/2 years ago and it seemed so far away and now it’s almost here!

I have never had Indian before but it sounds great!

  8. Kelly on March 18, 2010 at 10:00 am

Oh man obsessed with my foam roller. It hurts so good, literally!

      that sounds GLORIOUS

  13. Danielle on March 18, 2010 at 10:08 am

I had no idea you had your own online store! I think I need the foam roller in my life…p.s. kinda off topic, but CVS takes really good passport pictures lol

    • Fitnessista on March 18, 2010 at 10:15 am

really??? good to know! i think v-town has a cvs.. i’ll have to check it out!

  16. Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman on March 18, 2010 at 10:12 am

My love for my foam roller runs deep. Oh does it hurt, but my IT bands appreciate the hearty massage. I’ve never had Indian either. What a wuss. I think I’m due to try it soon!

  17. Emily N on March 18, 2010 at 10:15 am

Absolutely LOVE Indian food like nobody’s business. My favorite is the palak paneer. I make a vegan one for my SO in the slow cooker, using tahina to make the spinach creamy and tofu instead of the Indian cheese. Then I get Paneer from Whole Foods and put it in my portion. Wonderful!

  18. La on March 18, 2010 at 10:20 am

Ok, this is going to sound ridicuous but I cant fogure out how to add an item to my cart on opensky. There simply isnt a “purchase” option for me!

    • Fitnessista on March 18, 2010 at 11:09 am

it’s not working right now- can i give opensky your email address and they’ll email you once it’s up and running again?

  19. Shannon on March 18, 2010 at 10:24 am

Like La, I’m having trouble adding the foam roller to my cart 🙁 I feel like my computer illiterate parents!

    • Fitnessista on March 18, 2010 at 11:09 am

      the cart is broken… already!
can i give the open sky peeps your email address? they’ll let you know when it’s fixed 🙂

  24. Carrie on March 18, 2010 at 10:43 am

Can you write more about your struggles with the IT Band? I struggled with my left knee last summer and started strengthening and stretching and it totally went away. However, this year, my right hip has been bothing me for 6 months! I have been foam rolling and stretching and some strengthening when I can, but it is killing me…:(

    • Meg on March 18, 2010 at 2:26 pm

I second the requests about a post on your IT band struggles. I don’t know what I should be doing to strengthen it, and I am not sure how to use the foam roller to the best of its ability so I really get at the issue. Any help/demos, etc would be great! I’m thinking a how-to video?!?! 😉 You rock Gina!

  25. Karyn on March 18, 2010 at 10:49 am
