To Be Redundant…

Hi friends <3

Sorry to be redundant, but…

I had a banana with AB before my AM weights sesh (again)

banana

did the workout thang

and then had pumpkin protein oats (again).

oats

(I garnished them with goji berries instead of cacao nibs just to make them a *little* different)

I miss my Pilot so much my heart hurts. This one is never ending but more apparent when I slow down and stop for a second.

us

We call these days *miss days*, and even though I’m so STOKED to be off work, the fact that I’m not as much of a busy bee makes it more obvious that he’s not here.

How’s today going to be different than yesterday??

-I’m cooking a *REAL* dinner, that I’ll eat on a plate instead of out of the Bento box 😉

lasagna

Butternut squash and goat cheese lasagna with fall salad and roasted veggies

DANCE TRANCE tonight!!! I’ve been excited to go again since last week 🙂

-New project time! I’m writing a new book proposal. After the last one didn’t get any bites, I’m ready to try again and have a new idea that I hope will be a thousand times better. All of the Brian Tracy CDs really lit a fire under my booty to get crack-a-lackin

Thanks, Brian Tracy 😉

-I’m also excited to get some blog changes done this week (recipe and workout updates, new pages added) and am in the market for a bloggie facelift. Nothing too crazy (the format will stay the same- I’d just like it to be cleaner-looking, easier to find things and have a working RSS feed), so if any of ya’ll have an awesome web wizard, please send their info my way!

Off to work on that project, get groceries, do the cooking thang and head to DT.

See ya later today!

xoxo,

Gina

Mayjah congrats to Sara for winning the Raw Threads shirts and vegan cookies 🙂

Gina I can only imagine how much you miss The Pilot — I hope you have a nice day off of work today.

I’m excited for the blog changes and I’m sure it will look lovely when it is all done! And good luck on the book proposal! You may have heard in sales to “go for the no” because after so many “no’s” SOMEONE will say yes — the odds are in your favor at that point. Keep doin what you’re doin!

  16. CathyK on October 5, 2010 at 12:01 pm

it’s funny that you would mention missing the pilot – before i read your blog this morning, i was out for a walk and for some reason you popped into mind (?!) and i was wondering to myself how you are getting along, how much of a challenge it must be. hang in there! glad you have projects like the blog, a book proposal (not to mention work and workouts!) to keep you busy. enjoy your dt tonight!!

    • Fitnessista on October 5, 2010 at 12:03 pm

      thank you!

  17. Afton on October 5, 2010 at 12:31 pm

I am a first time commenter but have been reading your blog for a few years now and absolutely love it. I am also a military wife and hate the miss you days! It is the worst when you can’t just pick up the phone and chat on these days. After reading this I totally could relate and I hope that your day goes well and my thoughts are with you. On another note I am making your sweet potato black bean chili tonight and it smells good, I am excited to try it! Also, good luck on your book proposal I think that is an awesome goal to have.

    • Fitnessista on October 5, 2010 at 12:33 pm

thanks so much afton! it’s always cool to hear from other military wives because ya’ll know exactly how it feels.
enjoy the chili! i’m making some on thursday 🙂

So sorry you’re having a miss day.
Holy lasagna! Have you shared that recipe before? I must have it!

  19. Salah@myhealthiestlifestyle on October 5, 2010 at 12:45 pm

I can’t imagine what that would be like to be a military wife. Stay strong girl, you both are in my prayers! That lasagna looks so yummy!

  20. manda_michelle on October 5, 2010 at 12:50 pm

i’m sorry you’re missin your guy right now. not that its the ‘same’, but my guy left for a job a year ago, and he doesn’t always have cell reception, and it really really sucks. i’m from canada but can still respect what your pilot does for your country, and how brave you have to be.

also, i would buy *any* book that has the recipe for that amazing looking lasagna!!!

  21. Kristina @ spabettie on October 5, 2010 at 12:57 pm

aw, missing The Pilot. I hope this isn’t weird to say, I was actually thinking of you and him, this morning on my walk… what he is doing for our country is so important and I have so much thanks for him, and so much respect for you and your strength.

Then I got to thinking of your vision boards, and I’m going to make one today! 😀

Thinking of you today, hope your day is a Fabulous One. XO

    • Fitnessista on October 5, 2010 at 12:59 pm

      thanks! <3 i appreciate it
so awesome!! can i see it?? 🙂

      • Kristina @ spabettie on October 5, 2010 at 10:32 pm

YES !! I worked on it today, hopefully will finish by weeks end… I will show you… XO

  22. Laura @ Backstage Pass to Health & Happiness on October 5, 2010 at 12:59 pm

Aww Gina, I really feel for you. I am so sorry that your pilot has to be away right now 🙁 I have no idea what it’s like to be away from my sig. other. He lived in a different city for 3 months once for an internship, but I got to see him every weekend.
I think it’s great that you are with family during this deployment and that you’re staying productive, have a fun new job, and are making such delectable dinners as the delicious-sounding lasagna. I totally have a butternut squash at home, and think that dish may be the perfect use for it…
Hang in there and have a great day! I wish that we had “Dance Trance” in Wisconsin, it sounds really fun.

  23. Lisa on October 5, 2010 at 1:01 pm

    Stay strong girl! =)

  24. Jenn on October 5, 2010 at 1:06 pm

Hey Gina! Just wondering if you could recommend a yoga studio in Vegas? (preferably near Mandalay Bay) I just got back two weeks ago so I’m sure you understand it’s too soon to party party party AGAIN so I think I’ll make this trip a little healthier 😉 Thanks!!

    • Fitnessista on October 5, 2010 at 1:44 pm

last time i was in vegas, i did insanity in the hotel room and hit up the hotel gym once. i wish i would have scoped out a yoga studio!

  25. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on October 5, 2010 at 1:07 pm

Your book deal….if you keep on sending things, you shall get one 🙂 It’s a numbers game and you’ll get yours. It WILL happen for you b/c unlike some people who send out book proposals and their recipes are just so-so, your recipes rock and therefore, one day, with persistence, you’ll get your deal 🙂

So sorry you are flying solo. That’s soooo hard. I understand the loneliness and anxiety and mental anguish one can feel when their spouse is gone, a lot. Keeping busy helps us forget a bit but you are so right, when you slow down, you are reminded of the void. Major hugs!!!

And good luck on your bloggie makeover. I have a lady I know who’s work looks great and she’s helped me with tiny things but never a makeover but she’s super sweet and responsive!

    🙂

  26. Emily on October 5, 2010 at 1:09 pm

I found that I hated the weekends while my guy was overseas… having that much time to think about how much I missed him drove me crazy! It will be over before you know it though! And diving into a new project like a new book proposal will definitely help!

    And that lasagna sounds delish!

  27. Liz @ Tip Top Shape on October 5, 2010 at 1:14 pm

Good luck on the new book proposal! I would love to read something of yours in the future 😀 And I have definitely had pumpkin oats ever day the past week, too. It’s fall, though!! That’s enough of an excuse to OD on pumpkin, lol.

  28. Paige @ Running Around Normal on October 5, 2010 at 1:15 pm

sorry about your miss day:( I’m sure they hurt, but you do an excellent job of keeping a positive attitude.
    The lasagna looks delicious!
And I’m in the market for a new blog design too, so thanks for putting that out there!

  33. Leanne @ Simplicitlee on October 5, 2010 at 1:39 pm

When does your hubby get home?
The longest I had to ever be without my fiance was 3 weeks… it’s strange because the first week I was fine & actually enjoyed time by myself, then the 2nd week I missed him but was still okay, then on day 15 it hit me like a ton of bricks & I wanted him home immediately!

I feel sympathy for you but hopefully youll see him sometime soon!

    • Fitnessista on October 5, 2010 at 1:43 pm

      i can’t say when 🙁
      thank you!

  34. Amanda on October 5, 2010 at 1:43 pm

What time do you have to wake up for morning yoga? I am trying to find ways to get motivated to do so!

    • Fitnessista on October 5, 2010 at 1:45 pm

i wake up at 7 everyday- take the dogs out, pre-blog, have a snack and then go to yoga. it works out really well because i get to wake up more slowly and don’t have to rush down to the studio

  35. Heather (Heather's Dish) on October 5, 2010 at 1:47 pm

i’m so sorry you miss the pilate…i mean, i’m not sorry you miss him because you love him so much, but i’m sorry he’s gone. you always have us to help love and support you when he’s away though! 🙂

  36. Holly on October 5, 2010 at 3:02 pm

Aww, Gina, I don’t know how you do it sometimes. I bet it is hard being away from your hubby..but I’m so glad that you have your family around you, I’m sure that helps a lot!
I wish you the BEST of luck while writing your new proposal!!! 😀

You are very lucky to have a husband worth missing 🙂 But I am so sorry you are having a tough day. It must be crazy difficult to be away from him for so long.

  40. Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman on October 5, 2010 at 3:30 pm

I give you guys major credit. I’d go nuts if I were away from my husband that much. You guys need to have a special getaway or staycation when he gets home to catch up.

  41. Kristin on October 5, 2010 at 3:47 pm

Awww…so sorry you are having a Miss Day. 🙁

I’m not a military wife, but I am a military mom so I think I can *sort of* relate. You are definitely an inspiration and do an incredible job of staying upbeat and motivated. Sending tons of *~*~*~*heart healing*~*~*~* thoughts and wishing for a speedy return of your Pilot.

  42. Laura J. on October 5, 2010 at 4:22 pm

Butternut Squash lasagna, fall salad and roasted veggies sounds like a perfect fall dinner 🙂 I’m definitely going to give that a try soon.

So sorry you’re having a *miss day* :-/ Praying for a quick and safe return for your pilot- and lots of fun distractions for you to pass the time.

If you write a book, I will buy it. End of story. 🙂 And I’m sure there’s a lot of other people who would agree. Tell that to your book proposal peeps 😉

  43. Wendy @ Seriously Sassy on October 5, 2010 at 4:32 pm

Aw, I can definitely imagine how MUCH you miss your man. That would be so hard! I always try to remind myself that missing someone is a special blessing because it means you love that person so, so much. That doesn’t always help though, I know!
That lasagna sounds sooooooooooo good and I must try it!!! Can you please share the recipe (or maybe you did already and I missed it cuz I’m very blonde)? 😉

  44. Mary @ Bites and Bliss on October 5, 2010 at 4:55 pm

I eat the same things over and over again. Well, not *always* cause it’s good to have variety..but if ya find something that works, why change it? 😛

You could try Jennette Fulda at Make My Blog Pretty (http://makemyblogpretty.com/)
She’s got her own blog and does the web design freelance–probably would be someone good to work with who could really understand issues related to a food/fitness blog (and she’s written a book, so maybe that’s something you could talk about with her?).
