What I’m Thinking

-Who needs house fragrance when you have Meyer Lemon Lavender macaroons?

roons (3)

(Keep those giveaway entries coming!)

-I bought cereal, which is a rarity, because I could eat half a bowl or the entire box and feel the same. It IS delicious, though.

cereal

I chose this type because it’s gluten-free and has the word “Mesa” on the packaging. Mesa is in Arizona so I figured it was logical.

It’s almost gone.

-Every time I’m on campus passing out DT fliers and free passes, the urge to go back to school is more intense than ever.campus

I still can’t decide if I want to finish my MBA to actually use it, or just so that I *have* it.

While I’m there, people often ask me how classes are going. It’s nice to pretend I’m still a student 😉

-They say you don’t really fall in love until you have children,

but I don’t think it’s possible to love a small thing more than Bella.

-The fact that I’m going to see the Pilot again soon is making me nervous.

I’ve been dealing with my emotions by buying shoes.

(I’ll wear them ALL summer!)

-The thought of the “I haven’t seen you in more than 6 months” hug is already giving me butterflies…

Glad he’ll be back soon (hearing the buzz already). Your ending your 6 months and we are starting ours. He will be missing the birth of our 2nd baby, but it is just part of this life. Maybe little fitness babies are next for you guys! 😉

  7. Laura (On the Threshold of Greatness) on March 3, 2011 at 9:05 pm

I love that you still get butterflies from your husband! <3 I remember being so happy for both of you when he came home from the last long deployment. I bet Bella will be happy to see him too!

Can I just say that I love whatever the pilot's hair is doing in that photo!? 🙂

they had the jean ones on campus today and they weren’t as cute in person. i think i need the tan ones for sure though!

  9. Courtney on March 3, 2011 at 9:07 pm

As a fellow military spouse … I feel your angst. Isn’t is the most incredible sensation? That ball of excitement, nerves, longing, want, fear, etc. … As crazy as all of that emotion can be to handle, it is a feeling only military wives can know, and it’s one of the BEST emotions on the planet. I am so excited and so happy for you, that your pilot is coming home soon. 🙂

    • Fitnessista on March 3, 2011 at 9:08 pm

thank you! you’re right- it’s a totally unique feeling

  10. Runeatrepeat on March 3, 2011 at 9:08 pm

Retail therapy is a lot better than most other things you can do to deal 🙂

  11. Michelle on March 3, 2011 at 9:10 pm

Awww! I’m so happy for you to see him. 🙂

Random question – did the honey stingers promo go out? I didn’t get it and I was looking forward to it!

    • Fitnessista on March 3, 2011 at 9:12 pm

      i’ll forward it to you!

      • Michelle on March 3, 2011 at 9:33 pm

        Awesome! Thank you!!!

  12. Elyse on March 3, 2011 at 9:13 pm

I can’t even begin to comprehend not seeing my love for 6 months and then seeing him again. You’re such a strong woman to go through all of this and still be so in love. I can’t wait to hear from you that he is back safe and sound! It must be so hard! I’ll be praying for you both 🙂

  13. Ashley on March 3, 2011 at 9:20 pm

I’m the same way with cereal. It just doesn’t do anything for me. I’m so happy for you! You’re so strong to wait that long!

  14. Ashley on March 3, 2011 at 9:22 pm

I think the SAME thing about my dog! 🙂

  15. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on March 3, 2011 at 9:22 pm

I have been a loyal Rainbow flips wearer for about 9 years. I have bought maybe 5 pairs in 9 years. Ok more than that 🙂 But I wear them to the point they have no sole left! And they are the best, most comfy flips ever! I wear them 365 days a year in San Diego…and when it’s really cold, I break out the Uggs 🙂

I am so happy that you will get your Pilot hug soon!!!!!!

And going back to school for the sake of knowledge vs. the sake of actually “using” it? Well, either option would actually be great.

If you want to go, and you think you can do it, and would enjoy it..GO! The worst thing is that you have a degree and knowledge. how you use that degree/knowledge will never be “wasted”.

    🙂

  16. Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table on March 3, 2011 at 9:23 pm

I’m envious of those Rainbows – flip flop season is SO CLOSE!

Your dog is adorable. I’m getting a kitten this weekend and I can’t wait to have a fur baby again. Makes it a little less lonely if you can’t have your S.O. around. 🙂

  17. Ryan @ Aloha Appetite on March 3, 2011 at 9:24 pm

I still remember how nervous I was to see my husband again after 6 months. The build-up is intense!

  18. Roselyn on March 3, 2011 at 9:27 pm

I LOVE my Rainbows! So much that I got 3 pairs. Haha.

  19. suzi on March 3, 2011 at 9:34 pm

I can’t imagine what it must be like for you to go so long without truly seeing each other, I almost have butterflies in my stomach thinking about it FOR you!

I teach classes at a local University and people that are new to my classes always ask me what I’m studying or what year I’m in – it’s nice to know that even at 29 so many seem to think I’m only in my early 20’s!

    • suzi on March 3, 2011 at 9:34 pm

and when they find out I’ve been married for 6 years they really freak out! lol

  20. Runner Couple - Sara on March 3, 2011 at 9:37 pm

I am so excited for you to be able to see the pilot again soon! Retail therapy is the best medicine – that is for sure!

  21. Jessica on March 3, 2011 at 9:42 pm

I hope I have a marriage like yours when my time comes! I didn’t get the honey stingers promo either and I’ve gotten all your other ones… they don’t have them near where I live so I wanted to buy them!

    Have a great night 🙂

  22. Stephanie on March 3, 2011 at 9:54 pm

I feel your joy and excitement! Being a military spouse can be so hard sometimes. It’s more than a long-distance relationship; you know that your other half is putting his life on the line every day, and even when you’re together, there’s the bittersweet understanding that it isn’t necessarily an “end” to the distance…just a reprieve (hopefully a long one this time!). Anyway, I’m so happy that you’re going to be with your husband again soon!

  23. Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife on March 3, 2011 at 10:02 pm

AWWW that is so sweet 🙂 But that must be soooo hard. I feel for ya- and yes, it does feel good to have a Master’s and have those extra letters after your name….but ONLY if you really love what you study!!

  24. Sarah on March 3, 2011 at 10:12 pm

What a great post! I definitely have the “want to go back to school” pangs lately as well, but I don’t know if it’s bc I want to be in school and feel less stressed than working 60 hours a week, or if I really want to make a career change/pursue a Master’s in my current field. Being a grown up stinks! I’m sure the haven’t seen you in 6+ months hug will be amazing, I have butterflies for you!

  25. Sara (Miles & Manhattan) on March 3, 2011 at 10:18 pm

even I have butterflies thinking about it FOR YOU!!!! SO EXCITING!!!

  26. Maria on March 3, 2011 at 10:22 pm

AHHHHH!!! SOOO Excited for you! I know that feeling all too well and it’s such an indescribable feeling. When people would ask me if I was getting excited when my fiance came home I was reply back with “Yes and I’m really nervous!” They didn’t get the nervous part and until they’ve experienced something like this they never will. YAY for the pilot coming home! I can’t wait to read about all of your adventures 🙂

  27. Laura on March 3, 2011 at 10:47 pm

You guys are too cute in that picture. I know you can’t wait to have your best friend back 🙂 “Army Wives” is a new show on the Family Network. I thought you may want to check it out although it’s not the same military branch but may be interesting.

  28. Allison @ Food For Healing on March 3, 2011 at 10:58 pm

so exciting, i cant wait for you to see him again, makes me get butterflies!
I actually looked at the mesa sunrise today, but decided i dont eat much cereal so i didnt get it, i have kamut puffs to eat first anyways

  29. Rachel on March 3, 2011 at 11:05 pm

Don’t be nervous, be joyous. Your future’s so bright even I gotta wear shades. 😉

gahhh, I’m so excited for you! Love the feeling when they come home, there is absolutely nothing that compares! Can’t wait to read that post! On another note, love the Rainbows sandals. I have several pairs and LOVE them!!

  31. J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) on March 3, 2011 at 11:16 pm

Awww, Vella is very lovable! Our kitties are like our children, so think it’s like the same bond and love you would have for real children.

    Those macaroons look delish!

  34. Toronto Girl West on March 3, 2011 at 11:33 pm

I can’t believe it’s been 6 months since you last saw the Pilot!

That must be incredibly hard hence why I admire the grace with which you handle deployments! 🙂

As for the Bella comment – I feel the same way about my Daisy. She’s my baby through and through!

  35. Christina on March 3, 2011 at 11:41 pm

I can’t even imagine how you must feel. Best wishes and interweb hugs!

it’s going to be soo wonderful when you get to hug someone you love whom you haven’t seen in so long!!!! it’s like a crazy emotional rollercoaster! you’re happy, you’re screaming, you’re nervous!! but in the end, it’s such a high!

  38. Courtney (greeneyedrunner) on March 4, 2011 at 12:06 am

so cute! loving the rainbows-year round footwear!

  39. Candace on March 4, 2011 at 12:09 am

I’m very excited and ecstatic for you to finally reunite with your Pilot!!!

Speaking of Mesa, I am actually going to Phoenix during spring break for the first time and I’m staying in Mesa. Can you recommend some places/restaurants/sights/good eats(!!) to visit while I’m there? 🙂

    Hope the time flies!!

  40. Samantha on March 4, 2011 at 1:03 am

Your macaroon flavor sounds amazing…wish we had lavendar here on the rock!

I made 4 new flavors recently that were good too…thought I’d share. I used the base blonde recipe from Everyday Raw and added:
+Chai (1 bag of stash green chai tea + a few drops almond extract)
+Mojito (fresh mint leaves and freshly grated lemon and lime zest)
+Banana Split (slightly dehydrated bananas, strawberries and cacao nibs mixed i)
+Sweet and Spicy (hefty dose of cinnamon + few dashes cayenne pepper)

  41. Namaste Gurl on March 4, 2011 at 1:18 am

Store- bought cereal never fills me up, either. Adding protein powder, nuts, nut butter, fruit and milk definitely helps, but not as much as oatmeal, eggs, or grains for breakfast.
Yay for seeing the pilot soon!

  42. Christin@purplebirdblog on March 4, 2011 at 1:31 am

It’s so fantastic that it’s thisclose until you get to hug your handsome pilot again! I bet nothing in world compares to that feeling when it’s been so long! xo

  43. Lisa on March 4, 2011 at 1:33 am

Mmmm, I love Mesa Sunrise. Good choice!

  44. Jamie Marie on March 4, 2011 at 1:53 am

GINA! I’m am over the moon for you (that you get to see him to soon!) There are no words to explain the feeling…

“I like to see people reunited, I like to see people run to each other, I like the kissing and the crying, I like the impatience, the stories that the mouth can’t tell fast enough, the ears that aren’t big enough, the eyes that can’t take in all of the change, I like the hugging, the bringing together, the end of missing someone.”

    SO HAPPY for you guys!!!

  45. Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine on March 4, 2011 at 7:09 am

I’m soo happy for youuuuuu yay!! Are you gonna announce it a few days before or just surprise us when he gets home? Either will be fun!!

I need to buy new Rainbows, thanks for the reminder!! My last pair got ruined when I pulled the gas nozzle out of my car a little too viciously and it got little drops all over them 🙁

  46. Kara on March 4, 2011 at 7:37 am

I used to think I couldn’t love something more than I did my dog, but once I had my baby I realized that was just junior varsity level love and a baby is like major league love!

  47. Laura @ Backstage Pass on March 4, 2011 at 7:54 am

Hooray for the hug! I think we’re all so happy and anxious for you for that hug to happen ASAP.
You should totally go back to school! How many credits are you from finishing? I have my MBA or MA Communication flagged for “sometime in the next 5 years.” I have a feeling that time will pass before I know it, if I don’t hop to and enroll in a program!

  48. shannonmarie on March 4, 2011 at 7:55 am

I can’t imagine being away from my hubby for that long. You obviously have a strong relationship. You two are so cute together.

  49. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on March 4, 2011 at 8:02 am

Only a little while longer Gina!!! I stress shoe shop too… I think it’s natural and if there was a clinic it would have to be enormous!! I didn’t realize you were already working towards your MBA. I have my BBA and have been toying with the idea of eventually getting my MBA, but like you, I wonder if I really need it or if I should just do it to have it.

  50. Christie on March 4, 2011 at 8:18 am

There really is nothing quite lack that time leading up to the moment you first see each other after so long. The ritual is incredible…the shopping, getting ready, picking out your outfit, the anticipation!!! 🙂 I’m excited for you. Here at Camp Lejeune people line the fences on the highway with sheets made into signs. I just loved the whole thing. Glad he’s retiring, but those homecomings are intense and amazing memories. 🙂
