042: all things plastic surgery with Betsy Kleiger
In todayโs episode, Iโm chatting with my BFF Betsy Kleiger from Flab but Fab all about plastic surgery. We donโt hold anything back, and talk about breast augmentation, lipo, tummy tucks, mommy makeovers, breast explants, and answer your questions from Instagram.
Itโs a juicy episode and I hope you love this one!
Hereโs what we talk about:
– Why plastic surgery isnโt for everyone
– Our experiences with plastic surgery (mommy makeovers, breast implants, tummy tucks, etc)
– How to find a great surgeon
– Weird things that have happened
– Non-permanent options, like Botox
– Recovery tips
and so. much. more.
A note:
Itโs important to be in a good mental space before you get any type of plastic surgery. Know that getting a physical attribution โfixedโ isnโt going to fix any insecurities, turmoil, or heal any grief you may be experiencing. I also fully believe that you can be at a place where you love yourself, love your body, but still have some things youโd like to change or fix. They donโt have to be mutually exclusive. We both have a โyou do youโ attitude when it comes to plastic surgery, so I hope you listen to this one with an open mind.
Iโm sharing an episode about plastic surgery because itโs a very popular option for aesthetic and functional purposes. I wanted to share our experiences and also give tips for picking an awesome, safe surgeon and recovering in a safe way. Also, I have to admit that it was super fun to gab with my best friend for a while. ๐ (Youโll be able to see why we complement each other so well. Weโre opposites but in the best way.)
A little bit about Betsy if you havenโt met her yet:
Iโm a busy mom of two crazy, adorable boys. I am a mom of an ADHD/ Anxious child, which in itself constantly presents me with unique curve balls! I work hard every day to fight my own anxiety and body acceptance issues, while striving to be the best mom, friend, wife, version as me possible. My intention with my blog is to give you 100% real Betsy, the good the bad, the flab, and the fab. And in turn, you can give yourself 100% realness too. Because, honey, it is OK to be exactly who you are! My mission is to build a safe community for all of us women to live our truth even if itโs not always pretty!

Thank you for this! I broke my nose about 8 years ago and have been struggling with my desire to get a nose job and go back to my “previous” nose, but felt like that wasn’t feminist or removed my support of the body positivity movement. This really helped make me feel that it was totally ok to want to return to my previous nose, and that I can love myself while also wanting to fix the bump that makes it incredibly difficult for glasses to sit straight across my face!
i think a lot of people feel this way! <3
i've wanted a nose job for at least 15 years - i've broken my nose twice. but i figure at this point, i've had the bump for so long, might as well keep it haha
xo
Omg I love reading/listening/talking about plastic surgery so this episode was fun to listen to. I love Betsy! Thanks for being so open about this topic, I loved it.
betsy is amazing! so happy you enjoyed it ๐
Hi! Great episode! Just a heads up, being board-certified means that the doc has successfully completed an ACGME-accredited residency and/or fellowship program in the specialty they are practicing ๐ Not all residency and fellowship programs are accredited and depending on the specialty it may or may not matter… but obviously for plastics, it does!
thank you for letting me know! i knew it was critical but wasn’t sure of the exact requirements
*Completed the residency/fellowship successfully and also successfully passed the board exam(s).
Betsy is hilarious, but obviously knows her shit about plastic surgery too. I loved this conversation!
If you’re going to incorporate these as blog content, you should really provide a transcript.
This was a fun episode to listen to! It was fun to listen in on your conversation – I could definitely tell that you two are BFFs ๐
Finally got the chance to listen to this one. I really feel like Betsy is the fun, non-judgmental friend that we all need ๐ Thanks for the fun convo!
she totally is! so happy you enjoyed it ๐
