Family: Weeks 23-25
Past pregnancy #2 updates:
And here we are at 25 weeks!
Random thoughts/things that I noticed:
-I am thankful for my ability to pick things up with my toes. If I drop something and it’s too heavy for my foot to grab, I debate if it’s “worth” bending over. Most of the time: not worth it.
-My allergies are a red nightmare. I sneeze no less than 20 times a day, and I’m sure I’ve mentioned this on the blog before, but I don’t have what you’d call a “delicate, ladylike” sneeze. Some people are like, “Chu” sweetly into their handkerchief, and I double-over yelling, “HUZZAHHHHHHHHHHHH” as my body convulses. I’m pretty sure our light fixtures rattle. So I walk around, sneezing my face off all day, which kind of hurts with the belly. (I started taking raw manuka honey each day as a remedy, which has helped significantly since I started last week.)
-I’ve been having some intense round ligament pain. It seems ok during day-to-day activities, but if I’m walking for more than a few minutes, my right hip and lower stomach start to cramp up. I’ve been wearing my maternity support belt often, using PT exercises Jess sent me (thank you, friend!!!), and visiting the chiropractor.
-Baby is still breech -it’s still early to be concerned- but when I was at the hospital this week for heart palpitations, they did an ultrasound. I asked the doc if he’d mind checking my placenta’s location, and he said it looked like it’s well out of the way. My 28-week ultrasound will be the one to verify, but that was reassuring to hear!
-It feels SO. GOOD. to have sports bras that fit me. I finally went last week to Target and picked up three, and also got this lulu tank (<— on sale right now) in a larger size. I feel like a new person. I will be going back for more of these, especially since I like to sleep in sports bras. The fabric is so dreamy soft and bonus: I can breathe in them. In normal clothes, I sometimes feel a little weird and self conscious, and then in a bathing suit, I just own it. It’s funny how things change around when you’re pregnant.
-Pregnancy dreams continue to blow my mind. The latest crazy one involved me being late to teach a BODYPUMP class, and my boss (who’s amazing) was like, “No big deal, just get there when you can.” I got there late, the stereo wasn’t working, and it was a beach BODYPUMP class so everyone was in the ocean. We had to take breaks during class for shark warnings. I don’t even know.
Cravings:
Fruit and cheese. I told the Pilot that I could each hard goat cheese (any type!) and fresh fruit all day and I would be happy.
Soft pretzels with nacho cheese. Even though my stomach doesn’t love gluten, I’ve shared one of these per week for the past couple of weeks with Liv.
Workouts: I’ll be writing a workout recap post (similar to my first trimester one), but for now everything feels good, but I’m definitely starting to slow down. I’ve still been teaching barre, Spin, BODYPUMP and Zumba, in addition to my own workouts (yoga, walking, TRX, strength, occasional Crunch Live or Beachbody workouts). Spin has been the most challenging, and my maternity leave sub friend will be taking over in a few weeks.
Weight gain: Probably 19-20 lbs. I’ll know today when I go to see the midwife.
Aversions:
Mexican food? Apologies to my culture, but it doesn’t sound the best right now. I think it’s because I go way spicy with the salsas, and everything has been giving me heartburn lately.
A lot of food doesn’t sound as great as usual, but I think it’s because I’m starting to feel really uncomfortable with positions and round ligament pain. I’m hoping this is just a thing and blows over quickly.
Belly button status: It’s long gone! It will be interesting to see if we head into outie territory.
Looking forward to:
-Doing the nursery switcheroo! I think I’m going to go with a mermaid theme to go with this little beach house. The space is pretty small, but I’ve found some fun ideas on Pinterest. I already have a feeling that Liv will want to redo her room, too (especially if she sees mermaid bedding coming in), so if she decides she wants a bit of a revamp, I think I’ll do the two birds with one stone type thing.
-My mom coming to visit! I’ve missed her so much.
-IDEA in a few weeks! Even though it’s right before my teaching schedule will start to wind down, I’m excited to get new tips and techniques for my classes (and to share on the blog) so I can come back with even more tools and info after maternity leave. 🙂
Keep growing little beeb!
Does the manuka honey address certain types of allergies in particular? Curious because while I don’t have the cough I have constant nasal congestion and am always looking for something better than an OTC medication or spray.
it can help with seasonal allergies, and it can be really helpful if you find local honey (since it will be relevant to where you live and the allergies you may be experiencing). i just got the dr. manuka raw brand from whole foods
The baby bump is so cute in the swim suit — where is the suit from?
thank you! target 🙂
Can’t wait to meet you finally at BlogFest! 🙂
yayyyy so excited 🙂
Have you tried coobie bras? They are THE BEST to sleep in! Super comfy and soft.
no! off to google…
That dream sounds crazy! I love the idea of a mermaid nursery!
You look great! I hope you start feeling better soon!
thank you, lovely!
Hahah I love hearing weird pregnancy dreams. I hope I look as bangin’ as you when I’m pregnant!
You look gorgeous! I think your little one definitely had a growth spurt the last few weeks … what a cute bump! Oh gosh, I totally feel you on the bending over thing. It’s reallllly not fun when I’m holding Hunter, and he thinks it’s funny to drop something and then proceeds to throw a fit if I don’t pick it up for him. Stinker. 😉 Your BODYPUMP dream made me laugh out loud. Pregnancy dreams truly are some crazy stuff. I find it interesting that Spin has been the most challenging for you as it (or RPM for me) has actually been my favorite pregnancy workout (at least so far) … I think because I’m able to modify and lower my intensity easier. I actually have been finding BODYPUMP a lot more challenging these days. It makes me super out of breath and wears me out quicker!
thank you so much, friend!! yes, the bump is just going to be out of control from here on out 🙂 is it hard for you to carry hunter around? i try to carry liv above the bump, but it’s still uncomfortable. it makes me sad! i think spin is so hard because it feels weird with the belly. i like that i can take it easier, but it would be better if i didn’t have to touch the handlebars 😉 bodypump is definitely getting more challenging. clean and presses. yikes. hope you are feeling well!
It’s definitely getting more difficult to carry him around! I’m carrying the baby pretty low, so that actually helps a bit so that I can hold him above the bump, but we are working on making him walk more. I know what you mean…it makes me sad too! That makes sense about spin. Have you tried raising your handlebars? I’ve started doing that and it helps a bit. But, everyone carries differently so you just have to do what feels right. 🙂
Gina, it has been such a joy to watch you continue to grow during this pregnancy! You continue to look beautiful and healthy. Also, I never knew that pregnancy affected dreams! How funny! Hoping for a healthy last 15 or so weeks. <3
You are rocking that bikini! Adorbs!!
thank you, friend!
Gina! You look absolutely beautiful! That suit is so cute!
thank you, lovely friend!
That bathing suit is adorable, especially with your bump. Curse you Target for leaving Canada *shakes fist*
I had to laugh at your sneeze description.
thank you, friend. i’m sad for you that target left! can you ship there?
No! Isn’t that awful? They should have at least opened it up for online shopping for us when they left but now we are completely Target-less unless we travel.
I was obsessed with soft pretzels with nacho cheese during my most recent pregnancy, too. My baby is now almost 6 months old. Good luck to you!!
love that so much! they seriously sound like the best thing ever
I’m 24 weeks and I couldn’t agree more- the round ligament pain, the dreams and the allergies oh my!
hahah we’re right in there together 🙂
Body Pump in the ocean, can you imagine?! Ha! (well i guess you did imagine 😉 )
You look gorgeous, Gina! And you’re rocking that bathing suit like a BOSS!! 🙂
I need to get some new sports bras too, mine are getting too tight and getting pretty uncomfortable. the boobs are way bigger for this pregnancy than my first, but can’t complain about that i guess, hehe.
So funny, I’m loving Mexican food right now. But pretzels with cheese sauce sound amazing too.
I’ve been having crazy heart palpitations lately too, mostly at night, they started about a week ago (I’m 31 weeks now), so I feel better knowing I’m not the only one! You look great 🙂
You ARE owning that bikini!! Looking great mama!
Those Target sports bras are my favorite. I have them in several colors!
thank you, friend!
You look great! You are my pregnancy, keep it fit and real inspiration! 29 weeks!
wow, thank you lovely!
You look so great! I wish Liv’s pajamas came in my size :). seriously splurged at LuLu last weekend, I’d rather buy fitness clothes over normal these days… even though I work in a office. Lol
I was having some heart palpitations as well at our 20 week appointment. I read online that it was completely normal and it didn’t come with any other effects. It’s getting harder for me to hold my almost 3 year old, but I have her wrap her legs around my front and “help mama”. She’s a good helper but it also makes me sad that she’s getting so big 🙁
You are so glowing! <3 <3 <3
A mermaid nursery will be so cute!!!
you look fantastic in a bikini! keep rocking that bump 🙂
love the idea of a mermaid nursery – so fun and creative! (especially since the little mermaid was one of my favorite childhood movies :))
I would love if you did a round up of your favorite baby products/recommendations!!!! We need to register soon and there are SO many different brands, etc. that I would love your opinion. 🙂
