Halloweekend + things of lately
Hi friends! Howโs the morning going? Hope you had a wonderful Halloween weekend and enjoyed some fun festivities.
It feels good to be back in blogging action. ๐ Iโm so happy you enjoyed the guest posts (thank you again to Kyle, Jess and Kristen!), and thank you for hanging in there while I took some time to rest and recover. I spent most of last week in the hospital -we were there Sunday at 4am and finally got to leave Wednesday evening- and it feels SO good to be back home. While itโs nice to have others taking care of you, especially when you have wonderful nurses and doctors around, thereโs something magical about sleeping in your own bed. โSleeping.โ I mean lying horizontally for a short amount of time. ๐
The past few days have been filled with appointments and are starting to settle down a bit. I was really excited that we were home for Halloween, and it ended up being the perfect mix of low key and a lot of fun.
Livi was Fawn the fairy (one of Tinkerbellโs friends)
and P was a wee Minnie Mouse.
I was a mummy (get it? muaha. ignore, unless you thought it was funny), and the Pilot wasโฆ a Pilot? Weโll step it up a bit next year.
Madre is here!!
We headed to Betsyโs annual Halloween party. As usual, there was a ton of amazing food, and we all had dinner before taking the kiddos out to trick-or-treat.
P and I made it down the street before it was time to head back for her dinner. Iโve been trying to take it easy over the past week, as my legs are still a little weak and noodle-y, so I didnโt want to overdo it. We came back home, and I watched Ghost in the glider while feeding her. Random: did you know that Fitz from Scandal is in Ghost? I never put that together until last night, and was like โomg itโs Fitz!โ He looks so little.
Some eats:
Oatmeal bowl with the Trader Joeโs super grain mix, Brewerโs yeast, almond butter, cinnamon, berries, drizzle of maple syrup + elixir of life (aka coffee)
The meal I had almost every day in the hospital:
Hot bar! Rotisserie chicken, salad with zucchini, beets, hummus, kale, and potatoes + kombucha and fruit
Edible Arrangements:
SO GOOD. (Thank you, Jess!) The chocolate-covered pineapple bats and ghosts were a wise idea, indeed.
This morning, weโre hanging out around the house and thinking of walking around by the beach. Hope you have a great day and Iโll see ya later this afternoon with a new recipe.
xoxo
Gina
Family page updates coming soon: the birth story + adjusting as a family of 4 <3
So happy to hear you guys are settling in at home! I love the Fawn the fairy costume by the way. We’re big Tinker Bell fans at my house.

Oh my gosh that Minnie costume is so adorable!
Yay to being home!!! I remember with each one of my (3) kiddos going stir crazy in the hospital and just wanting to be home!
Liv is a beautiful fairy! And baby P is soooo cute!
Haha! The first time I ever watched Scandal, I said “hey! That’s the guy from ghost!” lol
Happy to read your little family is getting settled in ๐
So happy to see you out & about ๐
Livi’s costume is so pretty & the wee minnie mouse is adorable ๐
Love the Halloween costumes – too cute. Also, you look great – you may not feel that way, but you look happy, healthy, and well-rested!
thank you! definitely feel like a walking zombie, so that’s very sweet ๐ xoxo
So much cuteness here! I’m glad you’re home resting and recovering. I swear you look like you already lost all the baby weight!

Both the gals look fabulous in their costumes – and I love the braids in Liv’s hair!!! I am amazed you’re back up to posting already however I’m loving seeing the baby pics and hearing how you are all adjusting to a family of 4!
The edible arrangement looks amazing. I love chocolate-covered fruit and if it’s seasonal and cute – so much the better!

Your guest posts were ON POINT, Gina. Loved them all. ๐
thank you, friend! i enjoyed them, too!
Congratulations on being home and the cute minnie! Fitz from Scandal…had not placed him from Ghost, but as soon as I read it, I could picture him! Cool to know! I am catching up on Grey’s Anatomy now and Jake from Scandal is in Season 6! (I think that’s the season I’m watching)
oh no way! i haven’t watched grey’s in way too long
Iโm impressed that P dressed up when she was, what, three days old??? Youโre on top of it, Gina! Liv looked adorable, as per usual! Seriously, you have an adorable kiddo, and I cannot wait to see if P resembles her.
the funny thing was i bought the costume thinking she’d be about 2 weeks old when she wore it. i had no idea she’d arrive a little past her due date ๐
Adorable outfits for the girls…. adorable ๐
thank you!
I can’t believe you went out trick-or-treating! I definitely didn’t have the energy for that the first week postpartum.
oh, i did like 3 houses haha
when my friends mom got pregnant she told her husband that she had the Egyptian flu. She was going to be a mummy!! Love looks so cute and P is just way to adorable!!
I love Liv’s costume! And her hair was super cute too! Glad you guys had a good Halloween!
Looks like a great weekend! Liv’s costume is so beautiful! ๐
Such a fun Halloween as a new family of four!!
Funny, whenever I see a commercial for Scandal (I don’t watch the show) I think, “That’s the bad guy from Ghost!”
I literally said the exact same thing when Ghost came on, such babies! Had a dream I was dating Patrick Swayze last night so obviously have not been able to let it go,
that is amazing
Glad you got out for a little walking–fresh air and light movement with a newborn always feels good! Looking forward to reading your birth story!
Cute! Cant wait to read the birth story, but I can be patient! No rush to you, enjoy it all ๐
So happy you’re back! I’m very impressed you’re back to blogging already! Where did you get your shirt? It is freaking adorable! Actually your mom’s shirt is cute too. I was like “Oh! I love her shirt!” “I love her shirt too!!!” ๐ LOL! Your kiddos are too adorable in their little costumes. Here’s to a great November!!

Congrats on the baby girl Penelope! My youngest daughter’s name is Penelope (she’ll be 2 this week!) and my oldest daughter nicknamed her Nelpe. “Nell-pea” so…LOVE the name!! She’s beautiful!
so so cute ๐ thank you!
I’m so impressed you are back to blogging. My lo is 8 weeks and I still can’t even get my laundry done during the day. You are a rock star.
oh laundry is a hot mess over here haha
The girls look adorable!! Grab all the zzzzs you can, especially while your mom is around-Grandma’s are the best!
Fun fact! One of the episodes was named ” Molly, You in Danger Girl”
I never even thought of adding brewer’s yeast straight into my oats, duh! Thanks for the idea! ๐
