Jessica Valant is the founder of Jessica Valant Pilates. Sheโs a physical therapist, fitness instructor, Pilates teacher, and mom of two. She has her own membership site and also provides free YouTube and Facebook workouts for her audience. She recently co-founded Momentum Fest with the husband, and itโs this weekend in Denver! I loved this episode so much! I have a 1 yr old and dealt with both DR and pelvic floor issues postpartum. You guys are right – no one talks about it, and it can be SO isolating and a little scary! PT helped me so much, and I believe all mamas should check it out after having babies. Thank you for opening up the dialogue on these not-so-fun, but so common, issue! Canโt wait for more episodes!!
This episode definitely hit home with me! At my 6 week postpartum appt my doctorโs midwife told me you couldnโt get ab separation unless you had a c section (what??) so I just jump right into a mommy boot camp class and did all the ab stuff they were doing. I finally got referred to a PT for help but they donโt have anyone who specializes in womenโs health PT in my area so it wasnโt very helpful. Iโm having more success using DR safe YouTube videos now.
This is all so true! Thank you for getting this info out there. My OB dismissed me at my 6 week appt when I asked about DR. I finally saw a women’s health PT when my little guy was about 9 months and I had a 3 finger separation. I have been trying to keep up with my exercises. I think it is very slowly but surely getting better. How long did it take you to feel like you were “healed”?
