Pilot Dolittle

Hi guys! Happy Saturday! Iโ€™m so happy you liked the Readerโ€™s Request gym bag post– mayjah thanks again to Brittany for the idea ๐Ÿ™‚

I never thought I would have a parrot on my arm this lovely Saturdayโ€ฆ.

me

Gotta love random squadron events at Wild Adventures, a theme park here in Valdizzy (yes, Valdosta has a theme park!).

wild adventures

Before leaving, we each had bfast- cereal for the pilot, smoothie in a bowl topped with raw cacao cereal for me.

smoothie

Iโ€™ve never tried smoothie in a bowl because I like to drink my smoothies rather than slurp them out of a spoon, but the cereal topping made it more feasible. Even still, the pilot was like, โ€œwhy are you eating your smoothie?โ€ โ€ฆ I gave up on the spoon after about 5 minutes and drank it out of the bowl with a glass straw ๐Ÿ˜‰

When we got to Wild Adventures, our squadron was greeted with a BBQ lunch, so I munched a Larabar from my purse.

Then, we saw the animals ๐Ÿ˜€

Meet Pilot Dolittle.

pilot (2)

Heโ€™s like a bird whisperer– they LOVE him!

We walked through the animal exhibit, which is conveniently located on a swamp. I always fear that an alligator is going to jump out and grab me.

swamp

Animals in captivity make me sad, but I still appreciate their cuteness and took some pics so yaโ€™ll could see them.

It was insanely hot, which is why I didnโ€™t want to go in the first place, but it was a lot of fun to walk around. Also, the pilot promised me Indian food dinner if I went with him ๐Ÿ˜‰ He knows how to bribe me.

us

Our last trip to Wild Adventures is *here* ๐Ÿ™‚

Well weโ€™re off to run a few errands and Iโ€™m going to do a lil yoga podcast before the Indian dinner feast.

Hope youโ€™re having a wonderful weekend!

xoxo,

Gina

I don’t really like going to zoos either — the animals are so beautiful and it is sad to see them in a cage (no matter how big the cage is!).

Those parrots are just beautiful! I love that the animals love the Pilot — animals really love my husband too — dogs, cats, anything they flock to him!

The birds are gorgeous! HOw fun!

Cute birdies! Yep, it definitely looks like they have a natural kinship with the pilot! ๐Ÿ™‚ Did he talk while you were there ( the red parrot)?

    • Fitnessista on August 21, 2010 at 3:47 pm

yeah and he could WAVE! it was so cute!

I’m a “slurper” too! Unless I freeze the smoothie, thus creating a sorbet type dessert.

Cute parrots, sounds like a fun time! Looks like that one bird was takin a big ol chunk of pilots face!!!

My family and I go to Wild Adventures a lot (the water park mainly b/c yes it is HOT). I read your blog all the time and know you live in Valdosta but it never clicked until I saw this post about Wild Adventures. I live in a small time about 45 minutes away from Jacksonville. So cool to finally make the connection.

Aww, seeing those beautiful birds make me miss my pet parrots back at home even more! And the smoothie in a bowl looks good but I think I’d be too impatient to eat it that way often lol.

  7. LisaG on August 21, 2010 at 5:35 pm

    Did you ride any rollercoasters?

    • Fitnessista on August 21, 2010 at 5:57 pm

      um… no ๐Ÿ™‚ i’m a big chicken

      • LisaG on August 22, 2010 at 2:41 pm

I like the Swamp Thing rollercoaster that has the 12 ft alligator under it. And the traditional wooden rollercoaster.

Looks like it was a fun day! The Pilot looks so comfortable with that parrot on his shoulder.

I’m headed out for my own Indian feast tonight as well – enjoy the roti!

Looks like you had fun ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m with you on being scared around swampy areas. I’m always scared to death a snake is going to slither up and bite me!

  13. Karyn on August 21, 2010 at 6:06 pm

when i was little i looked forward to the zoo trip my family would take every fall. i think i’m glad i don’t go anymore because i’d probably be a bit sad to see animals in captivity and that would ruin my childhood memories! but you two look way cool with parrots on your shoulders

We had a “mini Safari” back at my hometown and I used to LOVE going there. They would even let you sit in the car and drive around and the lions would just be a few meters away, walking around.

I’ve driven past Wild Adventures numerous times but never been. And I love theme parks.

  16. Whitney on August 21, 2010 at 7:07 pm

hahaha. I’ve eaten a green monster out of a bowl ONCE with oatmeal on top and the hubs said the same thing. I haven’t done it since…it didn’t quite make sense.

  17. Sana on August 21, 2010 at 7:10 pm

  19. Cindy on August 21, 2010 at 8:47 pm

I love all your pics! Your husband is adorable and you guys are such a cute and loving couple ๐Ÿ™‚ I also feel bad for the animals when I go to the zoo, but a lot of the time, it’s because of these zoos that they are still alive so try to keep that in mind! Hope the indian food was good ๐Ÿ™‚

Awwww cute! Glad y’all had fun! Growing up in Nashville we always drove through Valdosta on the way to FL each summer. I always wondered what that amusement park was like. And now I know what I was (not) missing. Hahaha!

Such cute pictures!!I actually have a thing with birds – I don’t like them. They’re so gross and dirty! Yuckkkkk

    • Fitnessista on August 22, 2010 at 10:34 am

i don’t like them either- they’re too much like dinosaurs!!

  23. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on August 21, 2010 at 11:37 pm

So glad that you guys had a great time. One time I posted pictures of Skylar at an easter bunny petting zoo and the vegan police came out in full force to tell me what an awful parent I was for taking her, and an awful blogger, for posting. Sigh. I wish you none of that icky b.s.!!

On lighter matters, I hope your indian feast rocked!!! And that you two kids have a faboooosh Sunday!

Awww I just love you and the pilot! I don’t like seeing animals in captivity either. It makes me super sad to see tigers and lions and such especially.

  25. Kimberly on August 21, 2010 at 11:53 pm

I get sad when I see animals in captivity too. It always makes me feel better to remember that the zoo’s are there to help the animals and educate people so that the animals do not become extinct.

What really angers me is people who try to keep wild animals as pets. This type of situation almost never ends well and then the animal has to be removed and only a few places can take them or they have to be put down.

I think those parrots were flirting with your man Gina! lol ๐Ÿ™‚

  26. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on August 22, 2010 at 8:25 am

Haha I’m sure the Pilot could talk you into doing almost anything by bribing you with Indian food! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  27. Tyler Ramey on August 22, 2010 at 9:48 am

Is that Larabar not the bomb.com?!?!?! Love it. I am FINALLY back in the blogging world, sista. We are in Hilton Head Island and I thought about you last night as I munched on some delicious Cajun shrimpies! <3

In the first picture of Pilot with the bird on his shoulder, he reminds me a lot of my BF, who is a USAF aircraft mechanic, lol. They have very smiliar smiles ! Or maybe noses or something, lol !
