30-minute Barre Booty Workout Video

This is an at-home barre workout you can do anywhere! This workout is lower body focused and only takes 30 minutes. All you need is a countertop or sturdy chair to hold onto for balance.ย

Good morning, friends. I hope that you found some peace this weekend. Mine was filled with a lot of reflection and some solid action planning with the Pilot as we continue to listen, learn, and read about how I can better support my BIPOC community. Iโ€™ve also found some new fitness and social media accounts that I’m looking forward to sharing with you in Friday Faves. In the meantime, Iโ€™ll be offering up some of the content I had previously planned, including todayโ€™s workout video, a Fatherโ€™s Day gift guide, and a new recipe.

Iโ€™m coming atcha with an all-new barre workout today. Thank you for all of the awesome feedback on the videos Iโ€™ve been posting lately. I can’t walt to film with Grant again one of these days, but for now, the olโ€™ tripod is getting me through.

For todayโ€™s workout, I wanted to do a lower body burner with some cardio blasts. One of the best things about barre is that it targets some of the smaller and often neglected muscles that can have a huge impact on function, like the glute medius, abductor and adductor muscles, and piriformis. By keeping these muscles strong, it can help to protect us when we do more traditional strength exercises, cardio workouts, and plyometrics. It can also help to prevent pain in our low back and our knees while providing support to the pelvic floor. So.many.good.things. I feel like I can squat and lunge all the livelong day, but barre has a way of zoning in on the weak lower body musculature that really needs some love.

And by love, I mean deep burning and shaking. Heh.

I hope youโ€™ll join me for this one! Itโ€™s only 30 minutes and is a fun and challenging combo of strength work with some cardio blasts. My booty was so sore after filming!

Woooweee, that was a good one! Definitely a burner! I’m new to barre and have really enjoyed your workouts. I probably do your Total Body Barre (from 2018) weekly and appreciate that I can do it in the privacy of my own home because I am not nearly as graceful as you!

A question for you: I have always been a cardio person and this year have been taking strength and stretching a lot more seriously and doing it regularly (I turned 40 and figured better late than never!). While I read everywhere that strength won’t add bulk on women, I definitely find that my clothes are tighter across my chest, butt, and thighs. Scale has gone up, which I am ok with as I am hoping I am adding muscle and I feel stronger which I like! I’m really not doing anything hardcore, but doing strength 3 times a week. I listened to your podcast with Bethann Wagner and she mentioned this as well (I really love your podcast btw and need to write a review there!). So, is it more common than they say that women might gain some size (not just weight) when starting strength training? Any insight would be helpful!

hi! i’m so happy you’re enjoying the barre workouts!
yes it is common to increase mass a little when you first start strength training. i feel like with new strength work, sometimes the muscle increase will happen before fat loss. it’s absolutely possible for the scale to go up while you build muscle! i would pay attention to how you feel. adding strength training has so many benefits (like protecting your bones and increasing your metabolism) so i would absolutely stick with it ๐Ÿ™‚ xoxoxo

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply! Iโ€™ll stick with It for sure. ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of your barre workouts–this was a great reminder to find some oldies. Love them, and loved this one, too!
