Things that go “smack” in the night
The other night, while I was feeding Livi, I heard an intense SMACK into one of our living room windows.
“Wake up! I heard a noise!”
I went into the bedroom and shook the Pilot, who sleeps with earplugs in (thank goodness he didn’t have to fly in the morning), and he woke up, grabbed the gun and immediately started creeping around upstairs, trying to see what could have caused the sound. After checking all of the windows downstairs and peering about, he came back to say that he couldn’t see what could have caused the noise. I tried to explain to him that it sounded like a hand smacking against the windows, and it was weird because I heard it so clearly and our bedroom is upstairs.
That’s because it happened to one of our tall windows…
My nana was over the next day to hang out with Livi while I went to training and said “A bird hit your window!”
And sure enough, on one of the windows is a distinct bird print.
“Isn’t it beautiful?”
“Yes, the print is amazing, but makes me sad to think a dead bird might be outside.”
The Pilot couldn’t believe it when I showed him the bird print and looked around outside for the evidence… no dead bird. Weird, huh??
I hope he lived…
On a happier note, here’s a picture from yesterday’s morning snuggle sesh.
Sweet girl <3
We had a great day yesterday, and she finally got to meet her Aunt Michele, who’s here from Valdosta. Her family is from Tucson, too 🙂
I got to meet her little guy.. and kiss his cheeks.
Dinner was one of the classic combos we enjoy over here, cooked by the Pilot aka the man who defends the house… from birds 😉
Salmon, veg and baked sweet potato.
You can’t go wrong 🙂
This morning, Liv and I are off to check out the mommy gym on base –you can take your babies or kids in with you, and there’s a play area and TV- and run some errands before Tom’s fam gets here tomorrow.
Hope you have a wonderful day!
xoxo

Ah! That’s crazy about the bird!! ps. Have you ever gone shooting w the Pilot before? My bf (also USAF) wants to take me, but I’m kinda scared bc I personally have never been around guns.
yes, and i was SUPER freaked out at first. ended up absolutely loving it, and it made me more comfortable having guns in the house. it also made me feel much more comfortable when we lived in north carolina and he was TDY a lot.
you are seriously glowing in that photo of you and livi snuggling. i would have never guessed you weren’t getting any sleep at night. i had to invest in all of the anti-dark-circle solutions i could find!
thank you! i’m exhausted to the max, but really, really happy <3
That’s a nice picture of you!
Some people need to calm down about the gun. Just because you aren’t familiar with something in your lifestyle doesn’t necessarily make it wrong. It’s perfectly normal to own a gun. It doesn’t mean you’re nut job or that you are accidentally going to shoot the baby. Really people.
didn’t know TOMS have ballet flats! Ordering a pair ASAP!
I was babysitting for my neighbor one time and a little bird flew into their sliding glass door! Then the dog tried to eat it but thankfully just picked it up and brought it to me haha. I thought the bird was dead at first but then after I petted it the bird woke up and laid in my hand for awhile until it flew away 🙂
whoa!!
That photo of you and Livi is absolutely lovely. I look at it and it makes ME smile. It totally makes me want a baby.
Sean and I are total wusses when it comes to noises at night. Once when we were staying at his parents’ place when they were out of town, we both heard a noise and debated who was going to go downstairs and check it out. Sean eventually grabbed a baseball bat and checked the house out but he never saw or heard anything after that first noise. We still don’t know what it was but things like that happening at night totally creep me out.
