Sparkly things distract me
Hey everyone! Hope you’re had a great night 😀 My blog decided to put some clothes on! Zesty sent me a copy of my header and I sent it to my internet wizard, aka Triskele, and he had it back up within 5 minutes. If you ever want to go self-hosted with your blog, I couldn’t recommend Triskele enough. They made my blog makeover totally painless and anytime I need something fixed, I can consider it done as soon as I email them- in a nutshell, they’re amazing 😀
So, I just got back from a ridiculous Zumba class and munched a dinner that Amy made for me:
She’s such a good cook 😉
I had the brown rice bowl with Nama Shoyu all over it and some wilted spinach with shallot, lemon juice, sea salt, pepper and cayenne.
Glorious 😀
To rewind to this afternoon, I took the puppen havens (aka dogs) on a walk and made some raw vegan powdered donut holes (which are in the dehydrator, uncooking away)
an omelet for lunch.
1 egg + 1 egg white with goat cheese and blanched asparagus
The rest of the asparagus with Earth Balance and sea salt, with a mini beast made of spinach, grape tomatoes and Goddess dressing (Annie’s brand)
After that deliciousness, I went to the gym to make phone calls and then did a weight workout with Jeni.
Warm up | Elliptical | 10 minutes |
Stability ball tricep dumbbell extension | 5 lbs | 3 sets of 12 on each side |
Compound 30s | 5 lbs each | 3 sets of 12 |
Bosu push ups (OW!) | Body weight | 3 sets of 10 |
Incline crunch with kettleball; arms overhead | 6 lbs | 3 sets of 12 |
Overhead press/ tricep kickback combo | 8 lbs each | 3 sets of 10 of each exercise |
Saxon side bend | 5 lbs each | 3 sets of 12 on each side |
Elliptical | 10 minutes | |
Total time: 1 hr |
After our workout, we hit up The Main Squeeze for juice (I got the usual tropical superfood smoothie with Green blend and extra spinach)
and shared a vegan cookie:
(I didn’t have a pic, so I pulled one out of the archives.. I’ve shared quite a few of these cookies with Jeni in my life)
Next, we hit up Hizzle Lizzle –that’s Hobby Lobby in layman’s terms- for CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS!!!!
I got some fun stuff, including these ornaments:
(a chocolate one for me, a plane and soccer one for the pilot, a Tucson-inspired boot and a PICKLE!)
The pilot as he walks into the room: It looks like an elf threw up on our table
Me: I HAD to get them! They’re so sparkly and pretty 😀
I also picked up these awesome garlands to put on the tree:
Later on, while he was decorating sans shirt –yes my man was putting up ornaments shirtless. You’re welcome for that image- as his chest was covered in glitter, he stepped into the light and said: LOOK. I’m a vampire!
Goofer 😉
I was so excited with how awesome the tree was looking, I errr, neglected to realize that I needed to leave for Zumba about 10 minutes before I actually started getting ready. What can I say? Sparkly things distract me 😀 So I put on my shoes grabbed my CDs and was off!
I did, however, have time to grab a snack.
Priorities, right?? 😉
1/2 Ezekiel muffin with cinnamon and maca: nature’s pre-workout superfood
It was an event that has never happened in the history of Gina: I got to the gym 2 minutes before my class was supposed to start. Horrible. I’m always there at LEAST 20 minutes early 🙁 I (hopefully) made it up to everyone—we had an awesome class.
So now I’m back at the casa, about to answer the wonderful comments on my last post, catch up on some emails –sorry if I haven’t responded to your yet, I’ll get there- and the write for a while. See you tomorrow and have a lovely night!
Much love,
G$

LOOOOVE the gorgeous decorations!! I’ve always been obsessed with sparkly decorations, haha 😀
I love the red and gold ornaments! We have 2 trees and one if covered in gold and red. So Christmas-ey.
Your husband is hilarious! I love all your decorations. Makes me want to go out and get some new ones 😉
I’ve been making my own version of donut holes but I don’t dehydrate them. I love how you rolled yours in sugar. I bet they taste awesome! Especially warm from the dehyd…yum!
it’s not sugar 😉
that egg omlet looks delish with the salad!
jenna
LOL omg, I love the vampire sparkly chest reference!! Should we ask why he knows about that?! 😉
I’m totally obsessed with sparkly things, too 🙂
LOL. i’ve made him watch the movie with me too many times, even though he comes up with new snide commentary every time i make him watch it 😉
I can’t believe you put up your tree already! I thought I was bad, hahahahaha. Now I won’t feel bad if I don’t wait till Black Friday.
You’re totally putting me in the mood to decorate for Christmas. I usually wait for the weekend after t-day to decorate but the sparkly things might have to come out earlier this year!! 🙂
fun decor… but im drooling over the donut holes!!!!!
I love that Amy’s bowl, it’s one of my favorites!
I love the decorations, I need to get in the Christmas spirit over here! And the pilot cracks me up =)

I was just telling Christian Dior that it was almost time to get our tree. We didn’t put one up last year since we were going to be in AZ. Same this year, but I want a tree!
I’m impressed that the Pilot knew that vampires sparkle in the sunlight. 🙂
Just got some maca powder today. Can’t wait to bust into it. Now all I need is some mesquite.
Please do tell me more about maca and its mystical powers…does Whole Heaven or Trader J’s carry? (I’m guessing NO for trader joe’s)
I could sure use a nice boost before hitting the gym. :/
not sure how I stumbled upon your bloggie, but I love it! 🙂
thank you! <3
I just called “Triskele” and told them about your shout out. I’m so happy you are so happy with them. I kind of love them a lot too 😉
i’m so glad you told me about them! seriously, i couldn’t be happier. they’re amazing
He he, I can’t believe you can get a pickle ornament. I want one 🙂
It might just be me on Internet Explorer 200 BC at work, but I can see a lot of code above your banner.
Sparkly decorations are my favorite kind 🙂
Ooo and I’m loving the delicious donut holes!
Your post simultaneously made me anxious that the holidays are here but also… happy that the holidays are here! AAAKKKK! I haven’t even done our wedding thank yous yet and you already have your tree up! I need to get MOVING!
P.S. I couldn’t get PB to watch Twilight with me, but he makes snide comments anyway ha!
Hi Gina!
I am going on a mini-vaca soon and I was wondering when you go away what do you do for bfast and lunch?! I know we will be going out at night for dinners, but during the morning we will be at a hotel and they have the basic cold continental bfast. And lunch will needed to be packed for the run–just something simple! If you could help me out I would appreciate it 🙂
for me, the necessities are:
ezekiel tortillas
jar of almond butter
chopped up veggies in a tupperware
apples
bananas
larabars
protein powder in a baggie
oatmeal in a baggie
endless possibilities
you can have veggies and hummus, veggie and hummus wrap, get hot water from the hotel and add oats with almond butter protein and banana, almond butter and banana wrap, apple and almond butter, larabar
hope this helps a little!
Christmas decorations look good! Seriously raw donut holes… YUM!!!
Mmmm donut holes!! Those look amazing. Gahh I can’t wait to put up Christmas decorations. I’m going to need some for my dorm!
just an fyi: i am getting lots of random HTML text on the top of your site. thought you might like to know 🙂
raw donut holes? AMAZING.
yep, apparently someone/something tried to HACK IT! but they FAILED!!! buahahahaha
i love my web hosting service.. they protect me from crazies like that 🙂
I have a pickle ornament too! (Mostly because I love pickles), but the pickle ornament is actually an old German tradition. You hide a pickle deep in the Christmas Tree after all the other ornaments were in place on Christmas Eve. In the morning the most observant child would receive an extra gift from St. Nicholas. The first adult who finds the pickle traditionally gets good luck for the whole year.”
hahah and here i am just thinking it’s so random and awesome to see a pickle ornament 😉
Sounds like an excellent workout! And nothing better than a Liz Lovely cookie for a heavenly treat!
Those raw vegan powdered donut holes look awesome! I am giving away some vegan treats on my blog if you are interested 🙂
hahahahahah I love the pilots vampire comment, that’s hilarious!
I love christmas decorations! I leave them up for as long as possible. It makes me feel so festive!=) Those raw doughnut holes look fantastic!
ME TOO!!! the longer they’re up, the better 😀
Hi Gina! Could you post a recipe of how to make one of those delish green smoothies at home? I am new to including greens in my drinks. Thanks so much!!!
1 cup almond milk
1 frozen banana
pinch sea salt
1 t spirulina (optional)
1 T vanilla brown rice protein
1 pack Stevia
cinnamon
heaping handful of spinach
😀
I LOVE YOUR BLOG..
I was wondering where you buy your Meca and Mesquite Powder?
Please let me know b/c im very interested in trying them both!
Also, what kind of weight lifting gloves do you own?
hey morgan,
i get ALL of my super foods from earth shift. they’re like a sam’s club for healthy food, but your minimum order has to be $100.. so if i need stuff, i just buy it all at once.
my weight gloves are (pink of course, haha) go fit brand 😀
I have been following your blog for over a week and look forward everyday to your info, recipes, tips, encouragement and cute humor!
Thank you for taking the time for others! I really appreciate you!
I just have one question, I have read that after a workout or run, your postmeal should be carbs and protein but no fats. So when I make the Green Monster, should omit the flax/chia or any good fats in the smoothie?
Thank you for reading and thank you for your blog =}
thank YOU for reading my little blog <3
nope, add it in!
you should have mostly protein, some carbs and a little healthy fat to keep that metabolic fire burning 😀
There’s still some weird stuff just “on top of” your banner…like code.
Amy does good eats. I think I need to study her food line and then learn how to make it myself…just for $$ sake.
we’re trying to get rid of it :/
i’ve made amy’s inspired meals before– you’re right, it’s a great way to save some dollas!
LOL you are too cute. Love all the ornaments 🙂 the pilot is hilarious with the vampire comment! Bahah
Not sure if you knew this or not, so I thought I’d share:) The pickle ornament actually has a purpose and if you know already, ignore this! It actually goes back to a German Christmas tradition where the pickle was hidden in the Xmas tree and the child who found the pickle on Xmas morning received an extra gift:)!
mmm donut holes! those look really tasty 🙂 ive never seen a powdered variation before.
Thanks so much for the tips–I will let ya know how they work out! 🙂
Ahhh yayy! <3 I LOVE christmas decorations!
those raw donut holes look AMAZING!!
