a better Bella

What a fabulously lazy Sunday

We slept in and then met up with the fam at Millie’s Pancake House for breakfast.

millies2

It’s pretty much the spot for brother’s breakfast, so the boys go there often, but I haven’t had a full meal there in years. Millie’s is a cute little place, and I love that they had their Christmas decorations out.

millies

I enjoyed a small orange juice, veggie cheese-less omelet, potatoes, and the toast was donated to the hungry Pilot across from me.

omelet

I have to give props to the Pilot- not only did he make me dinner (again) last night

sweet potato

(sweet potato on the grill with black beans and goat cheese, on a bed of arugula)

but he sat through Breaking Dawn, and even kept the sarcastic (hilarious) side-commentary to a minimum.

Breaking-Dawn-Movie-PosterSource

We shared a popcorn and sat in the very last row, the last two seats in the theatre –it was cccrrrraaazzzyyy!

The verdict? I really liked it, but always set my expectations fairly low when it comes to Twilight movies. Look at the books- the story is inventive and intriguing, but written for teens… not vampire-lovin’ preggy cougars (although I’m such there are a lot of us out there, haha).

After the movie, we came home to our own Bella… who has more than one facial expression

bellaboo

She knows she will always be > Twilight Bella

Lots to do today!

I love Sundays.. the perfect mixture of lazy and productive. I’m about to test out my new Shark steam mop (wahoo!), and then a tour of the hospital.

Have a happy Sunday!

xoxo

Gina

Something to talk about: Team Edward or Team Jacob? Or… Team No-thank-you?

Today’s tip: Friendly Sunday reminder to plan out your workout and meals for the week! If you’re celebrating Thanksgiving on Thursday, mark it as a treat day, but include some light activity or a turkey trot somewhere in there, too. Bonus cardio: Black Friday Shopping! I can’t wait.

I gotta say Team No Thank You. I’m a Buffy fan myself, so I’d much rather Spike or Angel 😉

  2. Kate on November 20, 2011 at 3:23 pm

Kirsten Stewarts acting is so bad. But your comment made me think of this histerical image.

      that cracked me up 🙂

    • Kristin on November 20, 2011 at 11:11 pm

I totally agree, I just sit there and cringe because Alexis Bledel would kill that role and I think how great the movie would be then.

  3. Lauren @ Ultra Lauren on November 20, 2011 at 3:26 pm

No teams but I enjoy the books and tolerate the movies.

Have fun with your mop 😉 I got the swiffer wet jet last week and really like it but the steam mop sounds good. Ok, enough mop talk.

haha Team-No-Thankyou!! Sounds like a great day!

  5. Haley @ Fit, Young, and Fabulous on November 20, 2011 at 3:35 pm

I can’t wait for Black Friday Cardio!! Already mapped out my plan of shopping attack! SO excited!! (:

  6. Silvia @ skinny jeans food on November 20, 2011 at 3:37 pm

Hey, for completeness’s sake there is also Team Kirsten and Team Polygamy….. haha. “Jacob” is a gorgeous looking man and “Edward” is a James Dean reincarnation. Unfortunately, both does not make up for the toe nail curling bad acting and all the heavy white make-up… (Nevertheless, I watched twilight on TV last night).

  7. Kristi @ Sweetly Fit on November 20, 2011 at 3:38 pm

black friday will most definitely count as exercise. I’ve got a huge list to tackle!

  8. Cindy on November 20, 2011 at 3:40 pm

LOL @ Bella having more than one facial expression!! Hopefully she doesn’t sigh and flutter her eyelashes all the time like Twilight Bella. Although, it would be amusing to see your Bella do it! 🙂

  9. Amy on November 20, 2011 at 3:47 pm

I hear you Gina, regarding Sundays, my routine is to get up, have coffee, get my sunday paper………..watch football and get some stuff done aroud my place, if I didn’t on Saturday…………:)
Today was different in that I went to Starbs for a skinny pep mocha latte, pretty good……………and then to Trader Joe’s, for great food finds, I love the candy cane green tea, so much! Salmon burger is great and fresh asparagus, then to the cheese secton………….well, you get it……….I had a great time:)

I’m totally team no-thank-you. When I took my adolescent lit class in university and the first movie had just come out, we had to interview tons of teenagers about their reading habits and it was “twilight this” and “OMGBELLA that”…it totally turned me off to the series in general!

  11. lauren alysse on November 20, 2011 at 3:59 pm

I am team edward all the way.

your pilot-made dinner looks great! you may have inspired me to get sweet potatoes so i can recreate myself! 🙂

  12. China on November 20, 2011 at 4:01 pm

    Haha, I’m team Vampire Diaries!

  13. Ali on November 20, 2011 at 4:17 pm

It looks as though you have had a lovely morning so far! I just got out of bed :p. I am 100% team Edward, Jacob is way to needy and clingy. And desperate. Boo.

  14. LisaM on November 20, 2011 at 4:21 pm

Team Edward except when Jacob is shirtless.

  15. Laura @ She Eats Well on November 20, 2011 at 4:23 pm

I am on team No Thank You, even though I saw the movie. I just think that Kristen Stewart is quite possibly the worst actress ever…she looked mad/upset when walking down the aisle. Can’t she smile!?

  16. chelsea on November 20, 2011 at 4:24 pm

Team Edward until Jacob takes his shirt off <3

  17. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga on November 20, 2011 at 4:25 pm

Team Edward or Team Jacob? Or… Team No-thank-you? <– I have never watched any of it and it's all a foreign language to me. But glad you and Pilot had time together at the movies. That's the best.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend! 🙂

  18. Caroline on November 20, 2011 at 4:26 pm

Oh man, Twilight is such a guilty pleasure, but I’m going to wait to see it until the crowds thin out a bit. I’m team Jacob (minus the creepy imprinting on a baby businesss. I think Stephanie Meyers just wanted to make him less desirable so people would root for him less.)- Edward is too controlling. And Tayler Lautner is just so pretty!

  19. Allison on November 20, 2011 at 4:26 pm

i’m glad you put Team No Thank you in there haha because thats the team im on forsure
this Sunday hasn’t been too lazy for me! went out this morning to the gym and did a 5K, 1minute3seconds away from a new PR… dang!
    Have a great day

  20. Hillary on November 20, 2011 at 4:29 pm

Your comment about Bella having only one facial expression was priceless. And spot on!

Just returned from the movie, and I had my own snarky side commentary going, too. Pilot and I would get along great : )

  21. Diana on November 20, 2011 at 4:38 pm

Haha I actually haven’t gotten into the the twilight series…not because I’m above it BY ANY MEANS but just because I haven’t gotten around to it…I’m sure I’d be addicted if I did!

That being said…I can already tell your Bella is most definitely the better Bella! 😉

  22. mary on November 20, 2011 at 5:04 pm

Team Anne Rice (and/or Buffy) here.

My 5th grader tells me it’s all Team Peeta or Team Gale at school now. Hunger Games.

I hope you like your Shark better than I like mine. My floors feel clean after but I think plain old mopping is easier and actually picks up more dirt, so I rarely pull it out.

    • Fitnessista on November 20, 2011 at 8:26 pm

i think it’s awesome for maintenance, but will still do a monthly deep clean

  23. Lindsey on November 20, 2011 at 5:05 pm

I think I have been swayed to Team Edward after this last movie! The movie was about how I expected it to be, like you I never have high expectations 😉 I think the last movie will be the best though!

  24. Leslie Wingate on November 20, 2011 at 5:05 pm

My hubster sat through it too. Way to go, guys! That breakfast looks great!

  25. Kristen @ Chocolate Covered Kristen on November 20, 2011 at 5:19 pm

Wow – no snarky Twilight comments from the pilot! I’m impressed. The bf said he’d go if I REALLLLLY wanted him to, but he was so miserable during New Moon (and made fun of it and fell asleep) I told him not to worry… esp since he doesn’t yet know he is being dragged to the Muppets.

  26. kirsten on November 20, 2011 at 5:20 pm

team edward, jacob got way too creepy stalker around book 3.

    • Fitnessista on November 20, 2011 at 8:25 pm

right? and then becomes infatuated with… a baby
      i just don’t really understand

  27. Emma on November 20, 2011 at 5:30 pm

Team Don’t Care/No Thank You. Twilight is poorly written and gives girls such a bad message… I seriously hate it, hah hah.

  28. Courtney on November 20, 2011 at 5:36 pm

Totally team Jacob.. but I had to laugh when I saw a pic online that said “Team guy who almost hit Bella with his truck” (in the first one) LOL!!

  29. Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie on November 20, 2011 at 5:59 pm

Team Edward all the way! I loved that movie! But wait, you a cougar? Wouldn’t that mean you were 40, single, and hitting on 20 year old dudes? I didn’t know there was another definition for cougars!

  30. Errign on November 20, 2011 at 6:00 pm

“who has more than one facial expression” – BAHAHAHA 😀

  31. Ashley on November 20, 2011 at 6:13 pm

not a fan. however, a trailer just came out for another ‘young adult’ novel-turned-movie and i am SO EXCITED!!!
    http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/lions_gate/thehungergames/

i’m glad you’re taking the hospital tour! i really hope we can catch up this weekend!!! (viesa wants to wish you guys a happy thanksgiving!)

    <3

    • Fitnessista on November 20, 2011 at 8:24 pm

did you read the books? i haven’t wanted to read them for whatever reason
and yes please!! let me know when you’re free. i’d love to catch up and give vies a big hug 🙂
      xoxo

  32. Christie on November 20, 2011 at 6:17 pm

I loved it too! But it actually wasn’t “written” for teens. Stephanie said she didn’t intend it to be for teens, but given the subject age, and other factors, 🙂 the publishing house wanted in teens. What a nice hubby you have though. 🙂 Mine did the same, though he had to front while we were there.

  33. britta on November 20, 2011 at 6:20 pm

    Team Jacob!!! 100% 🙂

  34. Tara @ Sweat like a Pig on November 20, 2011 at 6:29 pm

Oh dear, definitely neither! I never bothered to read the books and I watched about 30 minutes of the first movie before turning it off… I’m not really into vampire stuff haha

  35. Linda on November 20, 2011 at 6:53 pm

Team Edward all the way. I’m going to see the movie next weekend since I didn’t have time this weekend…can’t wait! We just got a cockapoo puppy and named her Bella – love that name!

  36. Sara on November 20, 2011 at 6:54 pm

I’m on team ‘Bella needs to resolve her attraction to guys that could turn life-threatening if you get them too angry or turned on’. The Bella character is such a weak, drama addicted female and.. does she ever smile?. She needs to get a career and go into therapy. IMO. 😀

    • Fitnessista on November 20, 2011 at 8:23 pm

      amen to all of this

  37. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on November 20, 2011 at 6:55 pm

The inside of that restaurant looks so cute and homey – like a grandma’s house or something!

I’m not really a Twilight fan, but I saw the first two movies out of curiosity. I’m not gonna lie, I kind of want to see the others too. 😛

    • Fitnessista on November 20, 2011 at 8:22 pm

it IS grandma’s house 🙂 haha

  38. Tracy on November 20, 2011 at 7:25 pm

Team No Thank You! While I enjoyed all the books, I’m just not interested in the movies. Too much hype maybe?

  39. Laura on November 20, 2011 at 7:48 pm

    Team Peeta!

I did enjoy the movie though. I kinda wish Kristen Stewart didn’t look like she needed to poop when she was walking down the aisle. My mom went with us and she hasn’t read the books. She was not prepared for the birth scene.

  40. Meg on November 20, 2011 at 8:14 pm

    EDWARD 😀 forrrrrrrrr sure

  41. mi-an d. on November 20, 2011 at 8:19 pm

    definitely team no thanks!

  42. Kat on November 20, 2011 at 8:19 pm

Team No Thank You, unfortunately! But I’m giggling at “vampire-loving preggy cougars”. I work at a romance publishing house where we essentially cater 50% of our total output to pretty much that demographic 🙂

Sometimes, a sexy vampire just sucks you in!

    Wait, was that a pun?

    Happy Sunday to you!

    • Fitnessista on November 20, 2011 at 8:22 pm

haha everything about this comment = amazing

  43. Joelle (On A Pink Typewriter) on November 20, 2011 at 8:37 pm

Oh my gosh, Millie’s looks so cute!!

I never thought to grill a sweet potato! That sounds like a genius idea. I also never thought much about Twilight haha not my cup of tea. 😉

  44. Laury @ thefitnessdish on November 20, 2011 at 8:45 pm

Ugh I can not wait to see it Tues night! I read the book 3 times and am totally a major momma cougar. I drool over Jacob but Edward makes me heart swoon!

  45. Paula on November 20, 2011 at 9:28 pm

Lazy Sundays are the best! It seems like I always end up being super productive on days that have nothing on my to-do list. Taking off the pressure of having to do something makes it so much easier!
I’m on team no-thank-you for Twilight, but I’m all about the True Blood vampires!

  46. Lena @Fit on the Rocks on November 20, 2011 at 10:26 pm

I am definitely Team No-Thank-You lol, but to each their own! It’s just not my thing because I firmly believe that vampires should burst into flame in the sun, no glitter 😛

  47. meghan@ struggle muffins on November 20, 2011 at 10:29 pm

Grilled sweet potater with bb’s and goat cheese? That sounds beyond amazing.

Lazy/ productive Sundays are equally amazing. I love when I cross things off my To Do list on a Sunday but don’t get all antsy pants when I’m too tired/ lazy to do it because there’s a whole bunch of days left for me to be productive.

Oh and I’m on Team No Thank-You, though I love love loved Interview with the Vampire as a youngin. Brad Pitt as a vampire? Don’tmindifIdo 😉

  48. Kristin on November 20, 2011 at 11:13 pm

I was a team Edward in the books, but in the movies I’m a team Jacob hands down. The werewolves are just hotter in the movies! I liked Breaking Dawn more than the rest of the movies, it seemed less awkward for some reason.

  49. Heather @ For the Love of Kale on November 21, 2011 at 7:31 am

I can’t revel in Twilight with you, sorry Gina! So, I am a member of Team No Thank You. Wah wah wah. 😉
