AB Dip with a Twist

Hey everyone! Sorry I’m a little later posting today- it’s been go go go all day 🙂 Finally time to chillax a little. I loved reading your comments on the last post– it’s comforting to know that I’m not only one totally freaking out about the oil spill, but heartbreaking that we have to think and worry about it in the first place.

I hope you’ve had a fabulous Friday <3

bella

After teaching bootcamp this morning, I did my own weights + cardio workout before my training appointment.

I chugged some Vega after my sesh for protein powahhh:

When I got back to the casa after work, I really wanted to try a sweet omelet like my friend Heaby was raving about yesterday.

In the skillet, I cooked up:

-1 egg + 2 egg whites

Then filled the omelet with:

-1 T strawberry jam

-1 serving of Bucheron goat cheese

-foodgasms

omelet

H!#@* hd%&ds*#&@*(.

For real.

So, ya’ll know that I don’t blog all of my meals. It works really well for some people, but notsomuch for me. With how much I snack, it would get to be a little OCD and ya’ll would see a lot of random bites and almond butter covered spoons.

Confession: I am a pathological almond butter dipper– I do it almost every day 🙂

ab

See the jar on the left? It’s mine and mine only. (Note: If I’m going to bake with almond butter, it comes from a separate jar… my jar is full of Gina germs)

Sometimes….

I’ll toss some vegan chocolate chips into the jar:

ab jar

And scoop out bites with a spoon so each bite has almond butter and chocolate chips:

I know, right??

It’s an excellent little treat 😀

Today, I also enjoyed one of my favorite juice creations before hitting up Target, Publizzle and our sorry mall.

Wheatgrass, apple and ginger

juice

Ahhhhmazing.

Some fun news:

I’LL BE IN CHICAGO THE WEEKEND OF THE HEALTHY LIVING SUMMIT! 🙂

I don’t have a ticket yet, so if any of you have a hook-up, please let me know. If not, I’ll be there to meet everyone, chill and shop. I can’t wait!

Have a lovely night <3

Gina

Something to think:

“When you’re experiencing peace, it’s coming from within you, you’re ‘doing’ peace. And this is true of anything else you might be looking for. Love, happiness, contentment, well-being come from within. Nothing external needs to change for you to have what you want…..If you want to be happier – be happier. If you want to be more relaxed – relax. If you want more friends – be friendly. Sounds simple. It is.” Cheri Huber

I’m exactly the same with peanut butter and Nutella (my secret, evil addiction). I really should make my own Nutella so at least I can feel a little better about it. 🙂

P.S. *Great* idea about the chocolate chips!

  2. Rachel @ WOW on June 18, 2010 at 6:08 pm

Great, awesome, amazing idea with the chocolate chips! I don’t know if I could handle it, though. I might just eat the whole jar.

Chicago’s the best city in the whole wide world! That’s where I’m from 🙂 and luckily I get to escape Valdosta for 3 whole weeks to visit my family. But I won’t be there for HLS!

BTW, when I come back, I’m going to try that “Cullen” juice creation at The Main Squeeze. I just love that you call it that!

So awesome that the Healthy Living Summit is in Chicago AND you get to go! I just moved to Chicago this summer, and let me tell you, the weather is crazy! It will be 90 degrees in the am, then storm, drop to 60 degrees, etc…all within a day. I don’t know if it will be the same in Aug, but let’s just say that you’ve been warned:)Besides the weather though, there could not be a more fun place to be in the summer. Every weekend there are different festivals (food, art, music), plus lots of pretty parks, great restaurants…and shopping! I hope you like it!!

  13. Jenny on June 18, 2010 at 7:42 pm

I love the quote, and I love, love, love the almond butter and chocolate chips!

  14. Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter on June 18, 2010 at 7:47 pm

Haha almong butter and chocolate chips sounds like a magic combo!

  15. Olivia on June 18, 2010 at 7:48 pm

Yum AB with chocolate chips= heaven!!

Would you consider doing just one full day of eats? I’d be curious to see how you keep your energy levels up between your workouts, training, and teaching.

    Thanks!

    • Fitnessista on June 18, 2010 at 7:53 pm

maybe on one of my more organized days 🙂 with the exception of the stuff i post on the blog, it’s pretty hodge podge and scattered

  16. A Teenage Gourmet on June 18, 2010 at 8:07 pm

Gina, YOU AREN’T ALONE. . . I think everyone here is guilt of AB & PB dipping . . . frequently. 😉 Many of my friends and I have discussed this matter. 😀

  17. Christina @ A Beautiful Mess on June 18, 2010 at 8:28 pm

I loooooove eating AB straing outta the jar :O) In fact the vast majority of my AB consumption occurs on a spoon and sometimes my fingers!

Awesome, you’ll be in my hometown! I don’t have a ticket either. Hopefully i’ll see you around town!

  27. Lindsay on June 18, 2010 at 10:44 pm

I live in the chicago area and I was also not able to get tickets to the HLS event so maybe a group of non HLS people could meet up at one of the MANY malls in the area. I know that there is a Seasons 52 in the Area that I am sure all bloggers would love to meet at!! 🙂

Hey, this is not relevant to your post, but judging by your dashboard, I believe your new wheels are made by none other than Bavarian Motor Works. Am I right?

    • Fitnessista on June 19, 2010 at 11:14 am

i think you would be possibly correct 😉

  32. Laura @ Backstage Pass to Health & Happiness on June 18, 2010 at 11:43 pm

Fitnessista! You should totally be granted a VIP pass to the summit.
If not, I am totally planning to come to Chicago on Thursday and am planning an Indian / Nepalese dinner! There’s a great restaurant about 8 blocks from the hotel. Their Baigan Bharta is off the hook!

    • Fitnessista on June 19, 2010 at 11:14 am

will you indian again?? i get in on friday afternoon but don’t leave until sunday night

Nice ride. I knew it. 🙂

Healthy Living Summit. Ok this sounds sooo bad…but..I have heard those things can get a little, ummm, catty. I think you’ve been to a few already so you probably know more than me since I have been to none. I can’t believe I typed this but ya know, just wanting to get the scoop on all that estrogen in one room 🙂

    • Fitnessista on June 19, 2010 at 11:13 am

hahah i have never been to one before, so we shall see…

      • Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on June 19, 2010 at 1:19 pm

Well have a ball! I know you will. If nothing else, Chicago has FABULOUS shopping! I grew up there and lived there before I left for warmer climates! If you need any shopping 411, you know I can chat about that all day long 🙂

haha i’ll definitely be hitting you up for shopping tips 🙂

  35. Romy on June 19, 2010 at 6:03 am

Wow, you go to the Healthy Living Summit? Great 😀 I hope you will post about it!!! I’ve heard about that, it has to be very informative 🙂 I’m too far away so I can’t go 😉 Have Fun!!!

I have to keep my nut butters out of eye sight, semi-hidden in my cabinet 🙂

  37. Rosey Rebecca on June 19, 2010 at 8:25 am

I love dipping everything in PB. My boyfriend tells me I eat too much of it. I tell him that he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. I win.

  38. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on June 19, 2010 at 8:29 am

That sweet omelette sounds really interesting. But anything with goat cheese and you know it’s gotta be good! 😉

  39. Gracie @ Girl Meets Health on June 19, 2010 at 8:58 am

YAY! Can’t wait to meet you in Chicago! That city better be prepared for some major blogger craziness 😉 Just kidding…but not really… 😛

  40. Stacie on June 19, 2010 at 9:23 am

So glad I’m not the only one who takes dips into the nut butter jar on the regular. My weakness is Naturally More PB though. Ever try it?

    • Fitnessista on June 19, 2010 at 11:12 am

YES. that stuff is ridiculous! nutritional stats are awesome too

  44. Cassie @ A Very Busy Mind on June 19, 2010 at 10:39 am

Awwww that picture of Bella is precious!

Ooooooh I’m a nut-butter-jar-dipper myself. I swear the stuff is laced with cocaine…I can’t stop!

  45. michele on June 19, 2010 at 10:46 am

I am the same way with peanut butter. Love almonds, but love peanut butter more than almond butter. I also spread pb on dark chocolate all the time.

On another note, I don’t know if you realize that it is more than just germs in the almond butter jar when your saliva gets in there. It is bacteria and it starts to grow and decompose the food. I never double dip anymore and store food away. Even if my kids bit a banana or larabar etc. I alway break off the bit piece. It is really sceevvy.

    • Fitnessista on June 19, 2010 at 11:12 am

hahah ok. i’m forever traumatized now 🙂

    Hi Gina,

So thrilled to hear that you will be in Chi- unfortunately I too am looking for an extra ticket- I was on 5 minutes after the tickets went on sale and wasn’t able to secure one. Any chance there will be events for we non “Healthy Living Summit” goers. I have been a long time reader and I truly appreciate and respect all that you do. Hope to meet you soon!

  48. Krista (kristastes) on June 19, 2010 at 3:12 pm

  49. maggie on June 19, 2010 at 3:46 pm

wow, what a relief! i am not the only one who does that! seriously, i do the same thing with my AB jar, ABC rocks!

  50. Natalie @cinnamonbums on June 19, 2010 at 4:16 pm

oh my goodness i do the exact same thing with almond butter… the entire day… and i have multiple jars of almond butter too – for baking and for eating! i love scraping the sides of the jar for that extra almond butter haha
