Baby K’tan giveaway

It’s been quite a day over here.

Liv hasn’t had a single long nap –I’m scared for what tonight will be like because when she naps well, she sleeps well and vise versa- she’s on outfit change #4 and I’m on #3. We’re still trying to get her to have one long nap in the pack n’ play, and while Tom can get her to fall asleep on her own, I fail miserably. He puts her in the pack n’ play swaddled, stares at her until she starts to close her eyes and walks away. I do the same and when I walk away, she screams bloody murder. I’ll pick her up, pat her and “shhhhh,” put her back down and she wails. After two tries, she ends up in the Moby or Baby K’tan.

Since I didn’t know what types of baby carriers/wraps would work best for us, I researched like crazy and ended up buying the organic versions of the Moby, the Ergo and Baby K’tan. I haven’t used the Ergo with the infant insert yet –Tom loves it- but the Mody and K’Tan are staples.

carriers

I love them both, but think the design of the Baby K’Tan is much more user-friendly. Instead of being a gigantic piece of fabric that you have to tie and twist a certain way (I had to watch a few YouTube video how-tos), it consists of two large loops held together by a small loop + a support wrap.

baby ktan

I also prefer the Baby K’Tan because it’s easy to put on in public. With the Moby, I’ll have to tie it before I leave the house for wherever we’re going, and if Liv is in the stroller or carseat, I just look like I’m wearing some kind of ninja wrap. I can put the Baby K’Tan in the diaper bag to wear or remove easily. The stroller is more functional, but for quick shopping trips, friends’ houses and parties, the Baby K’Tan or Moby work extremely well.

When a Baby K’tan representative saw this photo of Liv snoozing in her favorite spot,

ktan

he kindly offered to do a giveaway for a lucky reader. The winner can pick any Baby K’tan carrier in a fabric/color of their choice- it also makes an awesome gift for an expectant friend.

Two ways to enter:

1. Leave a comment with a funny story about when you were a baby (or about your kiddos)

2. Tweet “I want to win @babyktan from @fitnessista “

The lucky winner will be chosen tomorrow (Tuesday, 3/13) night at midnight EST.

We were in a store, very crowded and my husband F**rted. Big smelly one. I think it embarrassed him so he turned around and said Dynamics how could you!!! Our darling daughter looked at her dad and said…”Daddy, you poo poo your pants?” Gotta love the honesty of young children.

  2. Sarah on March 13, 2012 at 12:28 am

This would be great! I just had a baby on 2/23/12 and she is the light of our lives! I guess our funniest story so far is introducing her to our husky. Her eyes get so big when he gives her a “kiss” on the top of her head or her toes!

  3. Susan on March 13, 2012 at 12:31 am

It would be so great to win this for my friend who’s expecting her first little girl in the summer!

At my first birthday party, the two-year old daughter of my dad’s best friend decided that she would be the one to blow out my birthday candle before “Happy Birthday” ended. We caught it on film, and since we are still friends to this day I always have to check with her if it’s okay that I blow out my own candles on my birthday (jokingly of course…)

  4. DD on March 13, 2012 at 12:34 am

My 3 year old niece: “Aunt DD, why aren’t you married?”
    Me: “Because I don’t have a man.”
Niece: “Well, you need to get one.”
Me: “How do you suggest I do that?”
    Niece (totally serious): “Hunt.”

I would love to try it out! A recent funny story about my toddler: he’s potty trained but we still do the wiping for him. One day when he didn’t want to take a nap, I heard him yelling “wipe own butt, wipe own butt” and sure enough I walked into his room to find him doing just that. I’m just glad he was neat about it!

  6. lisampls on March 13, 2012 at 12:50 am

i’m the oldest of four girls, my parents have more than one picture of me “helping” my sister out of her exersaucer by her neck. hey, i was only trying to help! 😉

  7. Stephanie M on March 13, 2012 at 12:51 am

I would LOVE a Baby K’tan! I’m expecting a baby boy in May!

And my sort of funny story: My mom said that when I was a toddler, I decided I didn’t want to eat raw carrots. When I finally did, she was rejoicing! And then she found little piles of chewed up carrots around the house…..

  8. Rori on March 13, 2012 at 12:53 am

So fun! I was the youngest child, and my mother left me in the crib while only 3 months old with my 3 & 4 year old siblings playing in the room. When she came back my siblings (who were not to fond of this noisy, attention getting blob that was me) had completely covered me in my crib with books. I was buried. When my mother un-earthed me and seen that I was unscathed asked my siblings why they had done that. They responded innocently, “baby wanted to read.” 🙂

    • Rori on March 13, 2012 at 12:56 am

Ok. I wrote that on my phone and didn’t proof read. Obviously a mistake. I swear I have some grasp of the English language in real life……sorry about the typos. Especially ‘my mother seen’. Oy. 😉

My best-friend is expecting and I would love to give her this as a gift! A funny story of myself as a baby was once my dad walked in the bathroom to me holding my moms lipstick looking like a clown. I seemed to think I had lips all over my arms, legs, and face.

  10. Christina Marie on March 13, 2012 at 1:04 am

When my dad called from the hospital to tell me I had a baby brother I promptly hung up on him… apparently I really wanted a sister!

  11. Katie on March 13, 2012 at 1:05 am

I’m 28 weeks pregnant and would LOVE to try the K’tan!

My funny kid story is that when I was around a year or so old, my mom put me down somewhere in a store and found me soon after chewing gum out of the carpet of the store. She always teases me about it because we weren’t allowed to eat any sugar when we were kids and I have a horrible sweet tooth now! Apparently it started early!

  12. Katie on March 13, 2012 at 1:06 am

    Also tweeted!

  13. Samantha on March 13, 2012 at 1:07 am

When I was around a year old, my parents had kept me up past my bedtime because we were expecting dinner guests and wanted us all to eat together for some reason. About halfway through the meal apparently I just up and face planted into my mashed potatoes. It made quite the scene (in a good, funny way) but I dont think my parents ever tried to change my eating times after that.

I’m expecting next month and have a moby but would love a baby k’tan as well! A friend has one and loves her (for the exact same reason you mentioned) and I’d love to win!!

  14. Allison V. on March 13, 2012 at 1:26 am

Would love one for number 2! My daughter started making this funny face to get our attention when she is eating. She scrunched her nose, squints her eyes, and smiles all while eating. Makes us laugh every time and now she does it whenever we say ‘nose scrunch!”

  15. Nicole on March 13, 2012 at 1:37 am

Well, my funny stories are yet to come, but my one year old daughter loves to walk around the house with her winter jacket and hat on, and she sits in the toy box and reads to her doll. I have it on video because it just melts my heart!

  16. Sarah L on March 13, 2012 at 1:37 am

One hot day my mom was sitting on the front step, but had left my four or five month old brother an arm’s length away in the cool, air-conditioned house. I came outside to sit with my mom and slammed the door shut before she could stop me, locking my brother in the house alone. Luckily, my dad was already on his way home from work and my brother was completely content lying on the floor. I still remember peering in at him through the front windows. It’s a good thing he couldn’t crawl yet!

  17. Shaina on March 13, 2012 at 1:37 am

Aaah stop it with these amazing giveaways!! (I don’t really mean stop it – please don’t haha – but this is amazing.)

My funny story is actually about my little sister (who is now 22). I’m hoping to have some funny stories about our own baby here in about 2 months but this is probably the best one right now (and I personally remember it so I LOVE it):

My sister had one of those Fisher Price plastic bikes she used to ride around the house. One night when my Mom was cooking dinner, my sister (3 at the time) was riding around on in the kitchen, honking the little horn and goes “beep beep! Move over asshole!” HA! Gotta watch what we say around the babies. 🙂

  18. Sarah L on March 13, 2012 at 1:38 am

    I tweeted about the giveaway.

  19. Melissa on March 13, 2012 at 1:51 am

Would love one!!! I have the Moby wrap but am still super intimidated by it! 7 ft of fabric is extremely overwhelming, even after watching YouTube videos. I have been dying for a Baby K’tan! Funniest things about both of my sons has been their burps. So LOUD. everytime I feed my 4 week old in public people stare in amazement when I burp him. It cracks my husband and I up. My 4 year old was exactly the same. They sound like full grown men. I love it 🙂

  20. Elizabeth on March 13, 2012 at 2:06 am

This is so great–I’m expecting a baby in 6 weeks and the Baby K’tan is on my wishlist!

Obviously I don’t have a baby story to share yet, but I did have a funny baby dream the other night. I dreamed I was at a friend’s house and she was preparing to help me give birth. First she stuck an acupuncture needle in the top of my skull to numb my arm. Once the arm was numb, she gave me a shot in the arm that put me to sleep. When I woke up, I had delivered my baby, and I felt fantastic! No pain, could move completely, and I had a beautiful perfect baby to show for it. If only it worked that way in real life…

  21. Suzanne C. on March 13, 2012 at 2:09 am

Hmmm I “pet” a bumblebee that landed on my shimmery bathing suit. My mom wasn’t quick enough to stop me as I stated, ” I’m not going to hurt it so it won’t hurt me.” needless to say I remember feeling something soooo soft before being stung in the palm of my hand! I was about 5.

  22. amanda m on March 13, 2012 at 2:12 am

ive been reading your blog for years but never comment :/…lets just say i could REALLY use a K’tan 😀 the funniest thing my 5 month old has done to date has to be the other day when she was grabbing at our chihuahua and doing her version of petting her. I always say “niceeee puppy” and “be niceee” ..as im saying this she grabs the pups ear, pulls and coos “naaa”!! Im not sure im getting the message across quite yet 😀

  23. Pam on March 13, 2012 at 2:29 am

I’m a military wife living overseas and our moby wrap was a lifesaver when we were traveling when our son was young. Now we use the ergo all the time, and I already have a ktan on my wishlist for baby #2!

The funniest thing as of late from my 14 month old was this morning, when he turned me to mush by laying on my chest, picking up my hand, and using it to rub his head! It was so precious, but less so when I found out his real motive: distracting me while he reached over to pick the ipad up off the end table!

  24. Rebekah on March 13, 2012 at 2:44 am

I’d love to try the K’Tan! And I love reading all the funny stories in the comments.

When I was little, my mom and I were playing hide and seek with my younger sister. My mom found me, but could NOT find my sister anywhere. She started freaking out because she thought my sister had gone outside but finally found her under one of our end tables, asleep behind a stack of magazines.

  25. Katie B. on March 13, 2012 at 3:03 am

What what! Would love a baby K’Tan over here! I’m 16 weeks preggers, so no funny baby stories JUST yet, but living overseas and having my doctors appt. in another language, I would say MOST things are funny. Particularly the day the Dr. told me to drop my drawers and then left the room while I stood there for about 10 minutes no clue what was going on. She walked back in and looked at me like I was some weirdo perv, when really I just did exactly what she asked me to do. Apparently I missed something along the way!

  26. Kathryn on March 13, 2012 at 3:11 am

I have an 8 wk old daughter and I swear she is taunting our dog (who loves her but isn’t allowed to lick her yet). If he is nearby, her arm always ends up right in front of his face, swinging around while we warn the dog to stay away:)

  27. tiffany on March 13, 2012 at 3:36 am

when i was a baby my mom would be in public holding me on her front, and apparently i’d try to grab a “snack” through her shirt. what can i say…when you’re hungry, you’re hungry! 🙂

  28. Alison on March 13, 2012 at 3:52 am

When I started out in my big-girl bed and my mom told me I wasn’t allowed to come in my parents’ room after they put me to bed, I just lay there and cried, “IIIII doooooon’t liiiiiiike thiiiiiis!” but apparently I couldn’t bring myself to disobey and leave my bed. I was a very obedient child — let’s hope my son follows suit!

  29. April on March 13, 2012 at 4:27 am

I have a hard time putting my son to sleep, too, and my husband usually can do it without too much of a problem. I’m guessing it’s just because they are smelling the leche?

Here’s our funny story: whenever we ask our son a question, he’ll answer with the standard, “no” or “okay.” (never yes, for whatever reason.) Lately, though, he’s just been saying, “no-kay.” This usually means no, but sometimes I think he actually means okay, and other times I think he means, “no, okay?” Still figuring it out 🙂

  30. Lisa on March 13, 2012 at 4:59 am

WOW!!!! Awesome give away…I would love the K’Tan. Never tried a baby carrier with my first, who is now 3. 🙂 But, love how convienient it looks…I’d like to give it a whirl 🙂

Funny baby story…hmmm..tough one, since everyday my toddler seems to say something funny( she has become quite the diva). Well, one day my daughter could sense that I was quite upset/frustrated with something( I’m allowed…37 weeks over here with baby #2) and …she looked up at me with the sweestest voice and said “Momma, just relax”. What?!? Kinda put things in perspective 🙂

  31. Shelby on March 13, 2012 at 5:11 am

I just found out about this from my mom actually…when I was little, around 4 or 5, I would wake my mom up on Saturday morning by pressing her nose like a button! Ha! It makes me laugh to think about her waking up like that and seeing me standing there.

    Awesome
    Giveaway!

  32. Christine on March 13, 2012 at 5:27 am

My friend’s son is THE cutest. He’s two. My friend always says “hey buddy” when he gets home – it’s their thing. So at dinner one night with both sets of grandparents, friends says “hey Matt, what does Daddy always say to you?”. Matt, so proud if himself puts his utensils down and quite loudly says “F***” lol. Whoops!

I’m due in 4 month sandal so looking forward to having these kind of moments! The Moby scares me but I would love to win a Baby K’Tan!

  33. Janeen on March 13, 2012 at 5:35 am

I have a now 5 week old boy and at 2 weeks, my friend visited us with her 7-year-old son. When my infant had its first crying jag in her son’s presence he said “don’t make him cry again, I can’t hear myself think.” Truth, out of the mouth of babes.

I’d love the k’tan for those crying jags when my husband and I can’t hear ourselves think! (and maybe some happy times too)

  34. Rachel on March 13, 2012 at 5:42 am

I had boy/girl twins 4 months ago and love them so much. They constantly crack us up with their funny facial expression and very different personalities. I can’t wait for the years to come as their personalities really shine through!

I’m not really sure of any funny stories of me, but I’m expecting our first child and I can’t wait to ‘look back’ on all the precious things that our baby does! 😀 Thank you for the giveaway!

When I was 2 and my brother was a few weeks old, I really wanted to play with him. My mom said she had him laying on a blanket on the floor by the kitchen while she cooked dinner. She said she turned around and he was gone, blanket and all. She turned the corner and I was pulling the blanket with him on it into my bedroom and said, “I want to play with my baby brother.” 🙂

What a great giveaway! We’re expecting our first on July 21 and these carriers sound awesome. A funny story has actually just happened. One of the seventh graders I teach was telling me how excited she was about the baby because I could bring him in. When I told her that he wouldn’t be here while she ass my student, she responded “How long does it take to make one of those anyway?”

  39. Amber L on March 13, 2012 at 6:43 am

This is an awesome giveaway! I’ve had my eye on one of these or a moby. I just keep going back and forth. Only about two months until she is here!!! Funny story…I’m not sure of when I was a baby, but according to my mom, when I was 6 and just started first grade, I snuck one of her lipsticks to school. It was one of those little red and white sample ones. I went to the bathroom and put it on with one of my friends. We went back to the classroom like no one would notice. Apparently I had it all over my lips and around my lips like a clown. Haha. My teacher called my mom immediately. What a little sneakster I was!

I’m due in two weeks and just washed my Moby Wrap — starting to feel overwhelmed by all the fabric — must watch some videos!

Anyway, in one of my college nutrition classes we were asked to bring in fun food related baby picture (like one with spaghetti all over us or something like that)… and then the rest of the class had to guess who it was. Well everyone was guessing the BOYS when my picture popped up! Hahah, i was surprised.

  42. Kristin on March 13, 2012 at 6:50 am

    This is a great giveaway!

I don’t know about when I was a baby, but I remember a picture from when I was little where I had batman stickers all over my face. I can’t figure out why I thought that was a good idea, but I looked pretty proud of myself, haha.

  43. Katie on March 13, 2012 at 6:56 am

I am 12 weeks pregnant and would LOVE a Baby K’tan for when my little one comes!

Here’s my funny story: When I was pretty little I went to a doctor’s appointment for a regular check up. My mom held me so I was sitting up on the examination table, and while the doctor was up close and personal checking my eyes, ears, nose, etc. my little kicking legs got him right in between the legs- HARD! My parents told me that it was hilarious and the doctor actually had to leave the room for a few minutes to compose himself. LOL!!!!

  44. Jess G on March 13, 2012 at 7:06 am

When I was very little, I climbed out of my crib and went into the kitchen, curled up on my dog and fell asleep. My mom panicked looking for me and found sound asleep on Beau’s belly!

I feel the same way about my Moby and would love to try an alternative!

  45. ashley on March 13, 2012 at 7:08 am

When I was born, the doctors went to hand my dad the scissors to cut the cord. But because I was flailing my arms, I ended up swiping the scissors from the doctors hand. I was premature (only 4lbs) so my mom said that the first time she saw her baby girl, she was waving scissors around that we’re as long as she was! This is totally true. I could not make this up!

My aunt is pregnant with her third baby. This one was a surprise. Her youngest (at the moment) is 10 so she doesn’t know all the new baby things. I would love to give her this.

  48. Angie on March 13, 2012 at 7:21 am

My daughter was born 11/12/11. She is now starting to laugh and smile. Her funny story would be she is trying to roll over. She is so determined you can see her get frustrated as she attempts to roll over and she will sigh to herself in frustration!!!

  49. Sara on March 13, 2012 at 7:33 am

My daughter last week had green grapes and tomatoes for lunch. That afternoon at snack she tells me that she wants red grapes, I was thinking how smart she was to know that grapes come in red and green even though the red grapes look purple, but I explained to her that we only had green grapes right now and got her some of those. Well, for dinner I made a mexican plate for her including red cherry tomatoes and she says “yeah!, red grapes”.

We are expecting our little guy in June – but I have a sister that is 18 months younger than me. My mom tells a story of waking up early one morning to hear me in my sister’s room telling her where to place her feet in order to climb out of her crib. It was all very cute, until she heard, “don’t worry, if you fall, I will catch you!”
