Baby K’tan giveaway
It’s been quite a day over here.
Liv hasn’t had a single long nap –I’m scared for what tonight will be like because when she naps well, she sleeps well and vise versa- she’s on outfit change #4 and I’m on #3. We’re still trying to get her to have one long nap in the pack n’ play, and while Tom can get her to fall asleep on her own, I fail miserably. He puts her in the pack n’ play swaddled, stares at her until she starts to close her eyes and walks away. I do the same and when I walk away, she screams bloody murder. I’ll pick her up, pat her and “shhhhh,” put her back down and she wails. After two tries, she ends up in the Moby or Baby K’tan.
Since I didn’t know what types of baby carriers/wraps would work best for us, I researched like crazy and ended up buying the organic versions of the Moby, the Ergo and Baby K’tan. I haven’t used the Ergo with the infant insert yet –Tom loves it- but the Mody and K’Tan are staples.
I love them both, but think the design of the Baby K’Tan is much more user-friendly. Instead of being a gigantic piece of fabric that you have to tie and twist a certain way (I had to watch a few YouTube video how-tos), it consists of two large loops held together by a small loop + a support wrap.
I also prefer the Baby K’Tan because it’s easy to put on in public. With the Moby, I’ll have to tie it before I leave the house for wherever we’re going, and if Liv is in the stroller or carseat, I just look like I’m wearing some kind of ninja wrap. I can put the Baby K’Tan in the diaper bag to wear or remove easily. The stroller is more functional, but for quick shopping trips, friends’ houses and parties, the Baby K’Tan or Moby work extremely well.
When a Baby K’tan representative saw this photo of Liv snoozing in her favorite spot,
he kindly offered to do a giveaway for a lucky reader. The winner can pick any Baby K’tan carrier in a fabric/color of their choice- it also makes an awesome gift for an expectant friend.
Two ways to enter:
1. Leave a comment with a funny story about when you were a baby (or about your kiddos)
2. Tweet “I want to win @babyktan from @fitnessista “
The lucky winner will be chosen tomorrow (Tuesday, 3/13) night at midnight EST.
xoxo
I can’t remember any funny stories..but I would love to win this and give it to my friend as a gift! She has been trying for years to get pregnant and never could. Last year her doctor told her that she wouldn’t be able to have a child so they stopped trying. As luck would have it, she got pregnant this year and is expecting a baby boy. She couldn’t be more happy and I’m so happy for her! I know she would love the Baby K’tan.
Our baby is a week old so we’re still learning. My hsband has been great with everything but diaper changes (he’s waiting on the cord to fall off) which is fine with me. So I’ve been on diaper duty.
I have been changing my baby’s clothes a few times a day because I thought he was sweating on his back. I was kinda worried. Well, the other night I took a shower and my hubby was holding the baby and felt something wet leaking onto my baby’s back. He discovered I was putting the diaper on wrong. There are these flaps that I wasn’t getting all the way down around the diaper. My poor baby had been peeing and leaking on himself!! I felt AWFUL! All is well now.
Most of the funny/crazy baby stories growing up are about my older brother. He was a climber, always into everything. When I was born, I became a prop. If I was in my swing, he would push it as hard as he could and try to run under it. If I was in the playpen, he would run across the room and do a somersault in. All this, and he was only 15 months older than me. He could also escape from his crib at a very young age, so my mom just had to take the side down, rather than have him climbing over it.
With #2 on the way I would love to win this!
When my now 2.5 yr old son first home from the hospital. We were deaperate to get him to sleep that first night. Thinking the he must be missing the sound of the womb we stood there blasting the womb sound on the sound sleeper. It sort of worked in the our son slep. MiHowever, it was so annoying that we couldn’t sleep.
This looks like the ultimate mom saving accessory! My favorite memory when I was a young toddler was standing over the vents in church and letting the air blow up our dresses into “bells.” My sister went through a “no undies” phase where my mom would put them on her and she would sneak them off. Then she stood over the vents one morning panty-free and it was too strong and blew her skirt straight over her head!

We’ve got our first little one coming in June; this would be great to win! My mom has been sharing stories about my own first few weeks, and says that she loved to sing to me. Apparently I would only accept the show tunes though, preferably Julie Andrews.
Sleeping was always hard for me (still is!). My mom would kiss my brothers and I goodnight and I would lie there so still until they went downstairs and turned on the TV. I would sneak into the living room where I could just barely watch the TV and stay up WAY past my bedtime watching TV. It was great until my mom found my candy wrappers in my favorite hiding space….
So my parents set up a trap. They left candy in that spot each night (I though it was GREAT) and on the second or third night, they busted me out. They then put a bell on my door so they knew when I opened and closed it.
My mom still laughs hysterically when she tells the story, and my husband thinks it is just hilarious. Me? That’s so me. 🙂
My little sis is due with baby girl #2 in about 10 weeks and I would love to be able to win the Baby K’tan for her!
The most recent funny story I have involves my niece (she’s 3). I was shopping with my sis and her and we all went to the bathroom together. My niece went in the stall with my sis and after she went it was my sis’s turn and my niece yells loudly, “Are you pooping in the potty, Mommy? Good job!!”
She was so embarrassed but everyone else thought it was adorable 🙂
I am 8 weeks pregnant now and I would love a K’tan! My Dad tells me that when I was a toddler her heard me walk by and say “These effin’ shoes are killing me!”
My baby is due April 5th, but I’ve already made quite a bit of progress so maybe any day if I’m lucky! I’ve been thinking about getting a baby K’tan and still haven’t done it. I’d love to have one!
No kids yet, but I’d love this for when we do have a baby! I like this story about my niece. The second time I went home with my husband to see his family (we weren’t engaged yet) my 4-year-old niece Lizzie asked my husband if he was going to marry me. He kind of said something like “We’ll see” and she said, very sassily, “I KNOW that’s gonna happen.”
We are hoping to have a little one soon and I have been so blessed and encouraged by your family posts. Thank you! The funny story my Mom always tells about me is when I was so excited to take a bath that I hopped in the tub while the water was still running, clothes, shoes, and all!
Last week, I spent 20 minutes trying to figure out how to wear the Baby Bjorn. Ours is the fancy one with the back support, and there are so many straps and things to click together…I stood in front of the mirror while my 6 week old baby and dog watched and I think they were laughing on the inside!!! Eventually I gave up and just carried the baby around the house. Please, please, please pick me….i would love to THROW this Bjorn out the window and begin to actually spend time wearing my baby and not trying to decode straps, cicks, etc!!!!
It would be great to win one of these. A friend of mine is expecting her second, in addition to her one year old.
Her baby is so sweet, such a tease to my husband who has baby fever. She’ll watch him so closely but if he goes to pick her up or approach her, she shakes her head and says ‘no’. And then grins the cheesiest grin ever. He’s super determined to get on her good side now.
My sister-in-law just gave birth to baby #2 last month and I would love to give it to her!
Funny story about niece #1. When she comes to visit Aunt Bert we always paint toe nails. Last time she was over I asked which toe she wanted done first she replied “the roast beef”. Apparently she has been doing the this little piggy song on her toes with mommy and daddy!
My friend is pregnant and has a four year old daughter who asked, “Mommy, how do you put the baby’s pajama’s on at night?” haha She said she tried to think quickly and responded with something like, “Well, when the baby is in my belly it just stays naked.” Her daughter was a little confused that someone would be naked all the time, but seemed satisfied with the answer. 😉
Ooooh, I would love to try the Baby K’tan, it looks amazing!!!
I am due in July with my first, and my sister is due in August with her 2nd…my 3 year old niece swears mine is a boy and hers is a girl. We don’t know what my sister is having yet, but when we told her ours really was going to be a boy she started singing, “Aunt Callie’s having a girl and Mommy’s having a boy, all my dreams are coming trueeeeee!” 🙂 lol
er…flip that. haha, “Aunt Callie’s having a boy Mommy’s having a girl..”
pregnancy brain 🙂
I am 25 weeks pregnant with #3 and have have little luck babywearing with the first 2 but would love to try the K’tan with #3!
One of the most memorable, funny things my kids have done is when we were in Boston on vacation last summer, our 3 year old daughter ended up naked in a fountain (much to our horror and amusement).
I would love to win the baby ktan for my friend Amber who had a baby last week.
My favorite kid story is from one of my co-workers. When we ask her three year old where her baby brother came from, her response is, “Mom picked him up at Macy’s!”
I’d love to win this for my sister-in-law (also wife of a pilot–my brother–who is currently on deployment).
When I was a toddler, my parents taught me the correct anatomical names for “boy” and “girl” parts and explained everything to me. I proceeded to walk around in public declaring “I have a vagina! Do you have a penis or a vagina?” I did it to a waiter in a restaurant–loudly–and my parents had to sit me down and explain that it wasn’t appropriate to speak about in public. haha
I would love to win this!
My best story from when I was a little one was my dad got mad at my mom one day and said “Rene’ you’re pissing me off!” becuase I was a sponge at that age, I walked around the entire house yelling “Rene’ you’re pissin me!” My parents thought it was hilarious and made up right away 🙂
I have a dear friend pregnant with her first papooska and I would love to win this for her!
Speaking of papooskas, that is what my mother called me and my little brother when we were babies. She told me it was Eskimo for baby. Come to find out a couple years ago that she totally made that up!
Great giveaway!! Love your blog, Gina!
I used to be a horrible napper. Every time I’d wake up, I would scream and cry. My parents called me “Screamin’ Meme.” To this day, I’m still a horrible napper!
My husband and I are ttc and I would love a baby k’tan for when the time comes! When I was little I took my hot pink barbie blush and completely covered my family’s yellow lab with it. She was such a sweetheart and didn’t mind at all, but she looked pretty ridiculous all the same!
Since you mentioned clothes changes today, it brought to mind a story (although a disgusting story) about our first child, Allison. Not 3 days after coming home from the hospital, I was changing her diaper on our couch (thankfully, a hand-me-down we weren’t planning on keeping long term), and as I was switching the diapers, her little toosh became an actual hose of baby poo, ALL over me and ALL over our couch. It was the craziest and most disgusting thing I have ever seen. My mom and I couldn’t help but laugh – what else can you do in one of those situations??
I would LOVE to win the Baby K’tan to use for our fourth child, due at the end of August!
I’d love to win one of these bad boys- I’ve been curious to compare it to a Moby! A funny story from my three year old- we were out to lunch and I took a sip of his juice. Usually really well mannered, he yelled (very loudly) “No juice for you, OLD LADY” which caused the entire restaurant to start laughing!
I’m like you, researched and have tried every carrier – except the K’tan. My girl is two months old (1/11) and I like to carry her in the Ergo, my husband likes the Bjorn and I WANTED to like the moby. I loved the idea of having her close and snugly but I felt I could never get the fabric the right tension. While I like the Ergo it’s too bulky when I’m just trying to get stuff done around the house. I would love to win the K’tan!
I couldn’t ever get the hang of the Moby. Never tried the K’tan, but did use side pocket slings (like the kangaroo pouch things). I’ve been known to lay a baby down asleep in the sling a time or two and leave them like that in the pack ‘n play. 🙂 I’d love to win this and give it to a friend.
This would be awesome to win, I’m almost 10 weeks along now, and have been researching all kinds of baby equipment including carriers.
When I was a toddler my parents left my sister and I with a babysitter, when they arrived back home they asked where my sister was, and I told them she was in the back “reposing” my parents had no idea what it meant (it means resting) and apparently I had heard it while watching Cinderella.
Woo! I’m 16 weeks along and I would LOVE to win this.
When I was a toddler, I loved singing, and would pretty much sing all the live-long day. My parents had one of those handheld tape recorders, and we have tapes of me singing all sorts of songs – Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Old MacDonald, the ABCs… it is the cutest thing ever – Even though it sounded more like a high-pitched whining than actual singing. 😉
I hope my kiddo’s a singer too. Need to carry on the legacy!
I’m 18 weeks along and would love to give this a try…it looks wonderful!! I don’t really knwo if Ihave any funny stories about when I was a baby but my mom said I would fall asleep ANYWHERE at any time (no matter how many people were trying to stimulate me) and I slept through the night almost immediately….gosh, I hope I am that lucky *fingers crossed*
I would love to win this for baby #2 due in September! I could not find a wrap I liked with my first baby. A funny story (not so funny at the time) with my son was when he was 8 weeks old. We took him to a basketball game and he had a diaper explosion. Poop everywhere!! And being the newbie mom, I did not pack an extra outfit—rookie mistake I will never make again! So, we changed his diaper and wrapped the poor kid up in a blanket, and he was essentially naked the rest of the game! Embarrassing!
I have a friend that is due this summer and I would love to win this for her!
My story is from years ago when I was babysitting a family friends 3 year old boy. I was sitting on the couch and he ran up to me, poked my “Britney” immediately smelled his finger and said “eewww, stinky!” I kind of laughed it off but was still kind of weirded out. When I told his parents they thought it was hysterical. I’m pretty sure he learned it from his father – he looked pretty guilty as I told the story. Just goes to show how easily influenced little kids are. The dad probably had no clue that his kid was watching him do this to the mom!
I also tweeted 🙂
My daughter is 18 months now and doing very cute/funny things on a daily basis like pretending to breastfeed her dolls or putting them in time-out:) just you wait Gina, they get more and more fun as time goes on! I would love to win this giveaway for the next one! Thanks!
I’m 3 years older than my sister so obviously we didn’t start talking at the same age but for both of us, some of our first words were “lotion” (“shoshun”-me, “lo-lo”-my sister) and “licorice” (“lick-toe-lick”-both of us). Very strange but I guess since our Mom had a little bathtime and lotion ritual for us every night, we heard the word lotion a lot and our Dad has a couple pieces of licorice after dinner every night still today!
I’m 6 weeks pregnant with our first and have heard great things about the K’tan! I would love it!
Funny story about me as a toddler….my parents were car shopping and signing the papers while I was playing quietly in the corner. I ended up putting a small rock up my nose and had to go to the ER to get it removed!
*My son is due at the end of May!*
-Funny story: When I was a little girl, we lived in England (my dad was in the AF) and my mother liked to decorate with cute, cottage-style furniture. My little sister and I had this neat little wooden tea table and chairs that had horses painted all over the seats. My father claims that he came home from work one day, and a 4 year old me was sitting on the couch. I didn’t get up to greet him. He then walked into our play room to find my sister, and upon entering he saw a small towel laying over the seat of one of our cute chairs. I had (ALLEGEDLY!) pooped on the chair and covered it with a towel. I do not remember doing this, and have even thought that maybe my dad made it up… but I was a strange child. I denied it then, and I deny it now. The best part is that he told that story to my husband the day we got married, so now my husband makes, “little pink chair” jokes. Kids are weird!
I am 8.5 weeks preg and a K’tan is on my list of must haves! Winning this would make me SO happy! My sister actually has 5 kiddos and their most recent funny event included 2-year-old Fin announcing, “I have a WEENIS!!!” at church during a moment of silence. I can’t wait for that craziness in my own household! Haha.
I have a 6 month old and speaking of clothing changes, yesterday we had a doozy of one! He just started solids and there is a definite change in what’s in the diaper after that and lets just say there was way more out of the diaper than in! All I could do was laugh and clean up the mess!
Ok, I am due in 2 months and was about to order this on Amazon so I will hold on so that maybe I will win!
My funny story is that my mom tells me when I was young and people would ask me what my name was, I would make up crazy names and tell the people that was my name. She says I would do it with a straight face and it was usually some old lady like name that she does’t know where I got it from!
My daughter is not quite at the point of saying funny things yet (can’t wait for that), but she still cracks me up all day long. Her new favorite thing is ripping off any extra articles of clothing that she can (socks, hats, sunglasses) and throwing them as far as she can – sometimes I notice and sometimes I don’t. The other day, we were shopping at Publix, and a lady tapped me on the shoulder holding 2 socks & a small stuffed animal and said, “Your daughter is sneaky. Everytime you turn around to grab something, another item comes flying out of the stroller!”
Baby #2 will be here in late August, and the k’Tan is on my “must have” list this time around!
tweeted! 🙂 <3
My son cracks me up on a daily basis! He’s 15 months and this morning he got his cup stuck in his chair and he kept saying ‘oh no!’

We are hoping to have a baby soon…and this would be an awesome head start! 🙂
When I was a little girl I used to wear my new shoes to bed! I would take a bath, put on my pjs, and put on my new shoes before I hopped into bed!! My mom was always so worried my feet would get too sweaty, and would sneak in at night and take them off me. So weird, I know. What can I say, I love shoes!! (Although, I definitely don’t wear them to bed anymore!) haha
When I was three a teacher asked me: “What do you want to be when you grow up?”. I said “a granny”, but she didn´t like it…
My little guy is just barely 2 weeks old. I know this sounds gross but so far I think our funniest moment was the first diaper blowout. It really surprised me and I was laughing and yelping at the same time!
I am due with my 4th child Sept 2012 and would LOVE a K’tan! I have a 5 year old and 3 year old twins, all girls, we are super excited about having another baby 🙂 A funny story about my twins when they were about 1 year old I found one sleeping with her bum in the air and long and behold her sister was sitting right on her watching a movie. It was so funny! If I could post a pic I would show you!!
It is said, that when I was around two, my mother had me dressed like a little frosted cake in the front of her shopping cart on a particularly busy day. I turned around, waved through the crowd and shouted in my sweetest baby voice, “Out da way, muderf*@*kers, I tumin’ fru!” Never a large family gathering is had without the story being retold.
I am 6 months today and I would absolutely LOVE to win one of these carriers because I have been told that they are the BEST out there! I want to keep my little girl close to me when she is born and this is the perfect way to do it and get as much bonding time as possible!
