Baby K’tan giveaway
It’s been quite a day over here.
Liv hasn’t had a single long nap –I’m scared for what tonight will be like because when she naps well, she sleeps well and vise versa- she’s on outfit change #4 and I’m on #3. We’re still trying to get her to have one long nap in the pack n’ play, and while Tom can get her to fall asleep on her own, I fail miserably. He puts her in the pack n’ play swaddled, stares at her until she starts to close her eyes and walks away. I do the same and when I walk away, she screams bloody murder. I’ll pick her up, pat her and “shhhhh,” put her back down and she wails. After two tries, she ends up in the Moby or Baby K’tan.
Since I didn’t know what types of baby carriers/wraps would work best for us, I researched like crazy and ended up buying the organic versions of the Moby, the Ergo and Baby K’tan. I haven’t used the Ergo with the infant insert yet –Tom loves it- but the Mody and K’Tan are staples.
I love them both, but think the design of the Baby K’Tan is much more user-friendly. Instead of being a gigantic piece of fabric that you have to tie and twist a certain way (I had to watch a few YouTube video how-tos), it consists of two large loops held together by a small loop + a support wrap.
I also prefer the Baby K’Tan because it’s easy to put on in public. With the Moby, I’ll have to tie it before I leave the house for wherever we’re going, and if Liv is in the stroller or carseat, I just look like I’m wearing some kind of ninja wrap. I can put the Baby K’Tan in the diaper bag to wear or remove easily. The stroller is more functional, but for quick shopping trips, friends’ houses and parties, the Baby K’Tan or Moby work extremely well.
When a Baby K’tan representative saw this photo of Liv snoozing in her favorite spot,
he kindly offered to do a giveaway for a lucky reader. The winner can pick any Baby K’tan carrier in a fabric/color of their choice- it also makes an awesome gift for an expectant friend.
Two ways to enter:
1. Leave a comment with a funny story about when you were a baby (or about your kiddos)
2. Tweet “I want to win @babyktan from @fitnessista “
The lucky winner will be chosen tomorrow (Tuesday, 3/13) night at midnight EST.
xoxo
What a great giveaway! I’d love to win as I am 5 months pregnant and due this summer with my first!
When I was little, I’d argue with my parents to stay up past my bed time. They never let me (as I needed a LOT of sleep as a child) but told me I could stay up as late as I wanted on the weekend. Without fail, Friday night would roll around and I would be out cold by 7 pm… even earlier than my week day bedtime! 🙂
My son’s first word- BooYeah!
The first time we gave Amelia (now 4 months) a bath I wrapped her in her blanket and carried her up to her room. She was so cute and cuddly I decided to let her hang out in the towel and play a bit in my arms. Big mistake! She decided to give me a nice little gift…a very loud bowel movement! I would have been mortified of it wasn’t so hilarious!
I also tweeted!
Would love to win a K’tan wrap for our new baby due in may. Shay is 23 months and we are starting her potty training. Got her undressed this morning, she sat on the potty, got up walked to the door, squated and pooped on the floor, she was so proud to not have gone in her diaper… so cute, gross, but awesome.
My baby is due soon, if I don’t win the k’tan I’m going to have to buy one asap! When I was a baby, I had a stuffed monkey named Zip, he was my favorite. I don’t know WHAT I was thinking b/c my mom brought Zip over the other day and he is so scary looking, like something out of Planet of the Apes! Definitely will go into storage instead of being passed onto my baby…:)
I just found my five year old in the dryer drum trying to speak Spanish… quite amusing. Thanks for a great giveaway.

Thanks 😉
My baby is due 8/4/12! When I was born my family thought I looked like a monkey because I had a ton of hair on my head and still had the little baby hair on my skin. Oh my. I never heard the end of it.
Thank you for doing this giveaway… I would love to win a baby K’tan for my 3 month old!
When I was 3 years old, I told my mom that I didn’t want to go to Sunday school anymore. My mom was worried that something had happened, so she asked me why. My extremely serious answer?
“All they talk about is Jesus, Jesus, Jesus”… my mom nearly died of laughter. She tells that story often.
I can’t wait until my daughter can talk and tell me all of the funny things going on in her head. 🙂
Oh! I would love to get this. My baby is due in early August. A funny story from when I was a kid- my parents were looking to buy a house and were working with a realtor. He bent down and said something, like aren’t you cute? I said, “I’m not cute. I’m a door bell!.” We still joke about it.
I am due Sept. 9 and would love to try the Baby K’tan! When I was almost 2, my parents put my Christmas present in my crib before the sun rose on Christmas morning. We were stationed in Germany, and my gift was a stuffed animal baby lion (Steiff brand from Germany). In the dark, I felt the lion and described all the parts – “Soft ears, soft tail” etc. And then I declared that it would be named “Soft Lion.” Let’s just say that Soft Lion still holds a special place in my heart – and only after I got engaged to my husband at 26 did I stop sleeping with it!
When I was a baby, I “urrped” (read: threw up) on everyone so much that no one in my family ever wanted to hold me. I probably had acid reflux or something before they started diagnosing that sort of thing in infants. It was bad enough to earn me the nickname “Elizabeth Urp” from my aunt, and my mom resorted to keeping a cloth diaper tied around me in a futile effort to protect my clothes. Old ladies passing by me in the stroller would whisper, “I wonder what’s wrong with that child that she’s got a diaper tied around her neck!”
When our oldest was a baby (about 8 months old), my husband sat down on the floor next to her with his shirt off. She stared at him for a little bit and then decided to grab on to his nipple! She pinched pretty hard and he let out a loud yelp! Well…………. of course she started crying and got scared. For the next 2 years she CRIED any time she saw a man with their shirt off!
Would love to win as we are expecting a new little one in a couple months! Thanks for the chance!
I would love to win this!!!
Here’s my story:
I have an older brother and a younger sister (I’m the middle child). One time, my older brother and I found a brown smudge on the carpet. We realized it was not just a single smudge, but a whole trail of brown. We followed the trail up our stairs (thinking of ourselves as detectives) and into our younger sisters’ room. Come to find out…the “treasure” at the end of this investigation was an overflowing poopy diaper that she had removed and smashed into the corner where the wall meets the carpet. My brother and I were overjoyed that we’d solved the brown trail “mystery.” Not sure my Mom was near as thrilled ; )
My sweet four month old just discovered his older “sister”, daisy the Rottweiler 🙂 he lays on the ground and she licks his cheeks and mouth while he laud and laughs. It’s soooo cute and his giggles crack me up
We love trying different wraps and I’ve been wanting a mesh ktan for the super hot Florida summer!
I would love to try a K’tan! My first is due in May. I don’t really know any funny stories from when I was a baby, but I *was* completely bald until I was two and people apparently thought I was this weird gigantic infant for a long time…
Gina, I’ve been reading your site for a while now, and I love it! I just found out that we are expecting and I know we would put this to good use. Thanks!
K’tan Give-away- I am an identical twin and when my sister and I were 2 years old, my little brother was born. Of course my mom bought everything in bulk including cases of diapers. One day while she was nursing my brother, we had gotten all the diapers out of the the boxes and onto the floor as well as the baby powder and I had eaten a tube of A&D ointment. From then on, we were corralled when we played and not just put in our room. Although this wasn’t the last bit of trouble we ever got into!
Great giveaway! Not too many stories I can remember but when my fiance first saw pictures of me as a baby he thought they were all of my brother!! He still thinks I looked like a boy as a child haha
When I was 1 1/2 years old I thought my newborn little sister would like to read a book with me. Apparently, said book was heavy, and I whacked her in the head with it… according to my mom, there were a lot of instances where I thought I was helping-and I was NOT. : )
Were expecting in 2 months; this would be amazing plus your reviews were very helpful.
I don’t know how funny it is to my sister but when I was a toddler I would sneak into her closet and color away using it as my coloring canvas. Took a while before anyone made the discovery and she was left with my artwork.
Would love to win this!! My due date is tomorrow — wish me luck! — and I’m not even close to being ready!
I was adopted when I was two, so I don’t have any baby stories. But one funny story from when I first arrived: my older sister (who was also adopted) wouldn’t let me touch any of her stuff. I have a funny picture of us using her arts and crafts table, and I am standing on a chair with only the tip of my paint brush touching the paper. Apparently, she said I could paint with her if I “didn’t touch anything”!
How adorable is Livi! I’d love to carry our anticipated addition around!
Funny Story: We recently took my 4 year old to eat Mexican for dinner. After we left our local spot my daughter asked to go to the Disney store. As a quick answer I said “but Jade you do not have any money to go to the Disney store.”. Jade opened up her poodle purse, counts 8 dollars and declares she does have 8 dollars for the Disney store. Shocked I asked where she got the 8 dollars? “Well Duh Mom you left it on the table!” (yes she jipped our poor waiter for his tip!)
lets just say my youngest who is almost 18 months is a boob man. I can’t go anywhere without him “honking” them or blowing raspberries on them!!
When I was a baby my parents loved stars wars and would ask me, “What is worf?” and taught me to say “worf is a clingon” in my little 2 year old baby voice!
whoops! I meant star trek
The other day in Ross there was a man with a cowboy hat on, and I’m not quite sure where my 2 year old got it, but she started to pretend to use a lasso and say “yee haw!” to the man, over and over. I was so red faced and also couldn’t stop laughing. You never know what they will say!
For about a year when I was 3, I insisted on wearing a wig with long black hair (from a halloween costume) every time my Mom took my out in public. When I would catch people staring at me I would tell my Mom, “see…..they think this is my real hair.” I still have a ton of pictures with me wearing that long black wig.
would love to win one for our little one due in august! my 6 year old was so adorable today, he said he wanted to vote for who the next president will be and when i told him he couldn’t vote until he was 18, he was so disappointed. it was so cute!
We LOVE our Moby but I feel the same about the ninja wrap issue so a K’tan would be wonderful!!! :). My funny story wasn’t necessarily when I was a baby but when I was about 4 years old. It was summer and we were at a family function and I had been running around with my cousins. My mom stopped me and told me I had white stuff all over my forehead. As she was cleaning it off I proceeded to tell her that I put deodorant on to keep me from sweating. My sisters still don’t let me live it down…
When I was young I talked a lot. So much that when my dad would go to take a shower, I would keep talking outside the bathroom the whole time. He said he would turn off the water and still hear me talking even though he had warned me that he wouldn’t be able to hear me. I could also never stay in the spot my family told me to sit (for example: if they were hanging clothes outside and told me to sit on the couch until they came back), because I always had to follow them to tell them my thoughts.
My favorite thing to call my brother when we were younger was “Doedoe” (pronounced doughdough; don’t know how to spell)! I never wore pants/shorts- heaven forbid. My parents have a priceless video of me when I was about 4 with hand on hip, frilly dress swaying in the wind, eyes closed screaming out DOE-DOE, followed by an eye roll. Funnier seen than read!
Expecting a little girl this July and would LOVE one 🙂
When I sarted to walk my father was terified that I would run into the corner of some furniture or have something that would fall on me. He converted one of the spare bedrooms into my own my own playroom, but he covered EVERYTHING with cushion of any kind. The whole room was set to protect me from any harm, but little did it help as I still found a way to hurt myself, haha!
I hope I am not too late to enter. I just found out that I am pregnant! I can hardly believe it myself, but I definitely would love a baby k’tan for my little one. I don’t have a funny story to tell, just my good news!
WONDERFUL news! so thrilled for you! <3
Ooo I would love to win the ktan!!
One night, when my brother was about 2, he woke up while everyone was asleep, climbed onto the kitchen counter and somehow managed to get his head stuck in the paper towel dispenser that hung from the bottom of the cabinets! My mom woke up to him calling for her… “mama! I’m stuck! I’m stuck, mama!” He is 28 now and still hasn’t lived that one down!
Shoot, if only I’d waited a few more days – just ordered K’tan from Amazon. Should be here tomorrow. I hear they work well for newborn twins. 🙂
I am 28 wks pregnant with a five year old. My kids are already fighting, lol! My son thinks its absolutely hilarious to lean on my stomach so his sister will try and kick him off…He thinks feeling her kick is the greatest thing ever. As a side note – my favorite your kid did what story would have to be the time he got in trouble at day care (he was three) for dumping plastic bugs into the fish tank in his classroom. His answer to me? Mom…..they were hungry…fish like to eat bugs…..this kid has logic down cold already – his teenage years are gonna hurt!
Would love to give this K’Tan to my sister-in-law who is about to have twins and has been on bed rest for the last FOUR months! She is my idol for not going stir-crazy, but I know she is stressing over how she will juggle two little ones (these are her first babies). At least this will help her physically juggle both and give her a set of free hands!
My grandma came to visit me when my second baby was born to help out. One time, when I was busy trying to nurse a newborn, I heard my grandmother trying to persuade my 2 year old son to put down his toys and come eat his lunch. At one point in their discussion I heard, “I will make you a deal, grammy. I will eat my lunch if you promise to tell me a story about 100 years ago, when you were small.” Luckily, my grandma has a good sense of humor (and appreciates a good deal).
I would LOVE this carrier for my newborn baby girl! My family always used to call passing gas a “skunko”. I was five years old and swore that was the proper word for gas. In gym one day it started to smell really bad and I blurted out “someone skunkoed!”. Everyone looked at me like I was crazy and the teacher laughed. Only later did I realize it was a made up family word 🙂
When I was 6, my mom brought me to a Madonna concert. I was so excited because I was such a big fan, but because we all know how risqué Madonna is, my mom had to cover my eyes! It was only for a song or two, but it felt like forever back then!
Thanks for the chance to win. I’m due in June and this would be great to have.
I tweeted – https://twitter.com/#!/DailyDisneyFix/status/179716605301895168
Oh I’d love to win the baby carrier! I’m 28 weeks and just doin the registry thang.
This is more of a toddler story but when I was 2 or 3 I was in church and I had little snack. Sharing is important for little ones so I asked the priest “Hey God, would you like some tic tacs?” Quite loudly while shaking the box. 🙂
I would love to win this–little one due in 2 weeks and with 2 other kiddos, the sling would be great to tote the baby to the park and such with the other two. My mom like to tell the story that after my baptism, the priest was holding me to take pictures when he made a sour face and pulled me away to see that I had “soiled” his garments as well as my baptismal gown.
I am pregnant as well, and love reading your shannanigans about your little bundle! It is quite useful since this is my very first pregnancy, I have learned a ton from your posts already! I would love love to win the Ktan, since I have no baby stuff yet!!! ahhh
Kasia (chicago)
I think it is so funny how when I first met my husband, he did not want to have kids, and now we have 3 of them and he slowly is thinking about another one next year!
There’s a picture of me when I was little naked covered in flour in the kitchen. I don’t remember it but I guess I decided to get into a little mischief.
I would love to win the Baby K’tan! I used to fall asleep in weird places/positions. My parents have pictures of me aroud age 2 asleep on top of my brothers wrapped birthday gifts. To this day, I can sleep anywhere!
I was a really good baby, but when I was about 15 months, my parents said I became a total stinker! I would go from the kitchen around the corner and pull out the baby-proof plugs out of the electrical outlets…and then peek into the kitchen to see if they were watching! They said I would just die laughing if they caught me! Also, the second they put me to bed, I would hop over the side of my crib and come back out! My mom said I never got hurt because I was “such a roller!!” 🙂
I had my baby girl 3 weeks ago and i love my moby but a k’tan would really come in handy. My 4 year old got to be a part of his baby sisters birth, we were originally going to have him come in the birthing room after the baby came out so he could help clean her up and help daddy cut the cord but he decided that he wanted to come in sooner because he heard me being so loud. As soon as my MIL brought him in i got the urge to push so he got to see the whole thing and all i remember hearing was him screaming “yay thats my baby sister coming out of my moms china!!”
