Cheese n’ Carbs

Hey hey hey 😀 Hope you’re having a wonderful night! Thanks so much for the awesome feedback on the vegan mug cake– please let me know how ya’ll like it! 🙂

vies

After my chocolaty mug cake foodgasm, I decided I needed some veggies in my life, so I munched some spiralized zucchini with marinara, chickpeas and kalamata olives.

pasta

I went to TJ Maxx to buy some things I don’t really need kill some time, and then went to work for a cardio sesh (Revolving Apparatus of Death) and tonight’s training appointments.

Dinner:

quesadilla

Quesadilla with:

-Brown rice tortilla, goat gouda and green chilies

-Frijoles with more green chilies

-HOT Herdez salsa (my salsa loverrrr)

Cheesy + carbs…. so right 😀

quesadilla (2)

Dessert was a Sun Warrior smoothie (crazy awesome promo comin’ atcha on Wednesday!) 😀

I’m off to make the Pilot something to eat since he just got back to the casa and then calling it a night!

See ya in the morning- I think I’ll post another workout tomorrow so please let me know if you’d like to see a solo spin, bootcamp style, treadmill, or muscle group specific workout <3

See you soon!

xoxo,

Gina

I’d love to see a solo spin workout, I plan on doing those when I go back to teaching in 2 weeks!

Loving your blog. It’s become a daily read. I have a quick question…where can I find Garlic Gold in Canada, without the $40.00 customs fee? I’m in Montana right now and I’ve checked multiple grocery & health foods stores, to no avail. The stuff seems amazing.

    • Fitnessista on August 23, 2010 at 9:02 pm

thank you! it is amazing 🙂 we have it in my opensky store… are you staying in montana with family?? if so, you could have it sent to them and they could send it to you in canada?? i’ve seen it at publix (a grocery store) here- good luck finding it and if the online ordering isn’t going to work, let me know and maybe i can send you some!

  5. Megan @ Healthy Hoggin' on August 23, 2010 at 9:05 pm

I feel like I’ve totally forgotten about quesadillas! I need to find some of those brown rice tortillas and make that ASAP! Yum, yum, yum.

I’m always up for new treadmill workouts! Bootcamp sounds fun, too! 😀

  6. holly @ couchpotatoathlete on August 23, 2010 at 9:06 pm

I love bootcamp style workouts, so one of those would be great 🙂

I *finally* bought Herdez salsa (per your recommendation) and it is fantastic!

  7. Joelle (The Pancake Girl) on August 23, 2010 at 9:06 pm

Solo spin, please! I love spinning, but can never get to the classes at the gym.. they’re either too early or too late.

I was wondering if goat cheese melts well, and you’ve now answered that for me, woooo!

  8. Kat on August 23, 2010 at 9:07 pm

    Treadmill, please!

  9. Ashley on August 23, 2010 at 9:09 pm

I would love a treadmill work out since I am getting bored with my running as far as I can routine! Thanks for all the ideas and advice!!

  10. Kristin on August 23, 2010 at 9:10 pm

spin with music suggestions please! 🙂

  11. Jenn @ LiveWellFitNow on August 23, 2010 at 9:11 pm

Cheese + carbs = perfection! In my world that is 🙂

    Spin sounds lovely!

  12. Nicci@NiftyEats on August 23, 2010 at 9:13 pm

After trying raw spaghetti, I need to invest in a spiralizer! That dish looks great with chickpeas.

  13. Erin Hayes on August 23, 2010 at 9:16 pm

I’d love to see a good LEG workout!

I just got my garlic gold order from your promo a week or so ago….UMMM-I’m NOT sure how I lived without it for so long!! Those crunchy nuggets, the lemony vinaigrette..OMG….delish. Thanks for the awesome promo on your opensky.

Next, I have to get a spiralizer!

  14. Erin Hayes on August 23, 2010 at 9:18 pm

ps, that is, by far, one of my FAV pics of Viessa…such a beauty 🙂

  15. brittany on August 23, 2010 at 9:20 pm

boot camp kicked my booty last time so I’d like to see another one like that!

your puppy dog is sooo beautiful!

  16. LisaG on August 23, 2010 at 9:21 pm

    How about a ball workout?

  17. CathyK on August 23, 2010 at 9:24 pm

bootcamp, pretty please with sugar on it! 🙂 (or brown sugar? agave? skip the sugar…) 🙂

  18. Cate on August 23, 2010 at 9:27 pm

My vote is for solo spin!

  19. fittingbackin on August 23, 2010 at 9:28 pm

    Solo spin, please! 🙂

  22. Whitney on August 23, 2010 at 10:06 pm

    I’d say lower body workout.

  23. Tiffany on August 23, 2010 at 10:13 pm

I’d love a bootcamp-style bodyweight circuit! No weights or equipment at my home, and the weights room at the gym is scary 🙁

  24. Sarah on August 23, 2010 at 10:14 pm

I’d like a leg workout! I think I need some more variety in my current routine.

  25. Kelsey on August 23, 2010 at 10:21 pm

Hey Gina! So here’s the scoop…the company I work for has a gym on site and if we go at lunch, we get an extra 15 minutes. Set aside that extra 15 to get pretty again, I have exactly 1 hour for a workout. I’d love to get the most effective workout I can in an hour. I often feel like I wander from machine to machine, so I think a plan would help! Since I’m working on losing weight, I definitely need some cardio, but also like to do some weights and stretching within the hour as well. What I have to work with are the basics: treadmill, elliptical, stairmaster, bike, rowing machine, free weights, and a bunch of nautilus-type weight machines. What do you think?

    • Fitnessista on August 24, 2010 at 9:19 am

when i worked full time, i would altermate between cardio days and cardio + weight days, kind of like this:
mon: steady state cardio, 50 minutes
tues: upper body 30 minutes + 20 minutes HIIT training + 5 minutes stretch
wed: steady state cardio with hills, 50 minutes
thurs: lower body 30 minutes + 20 minutes HIIT training + 5 minutes stretch
      fri: steady state, 45 minutes
      sat: off
      sun: easy yoga

  26. Laura (On the Threshold of Greatness) on August 23, 2010 at 10:23 pm

I would like to steal Viesa. She’s a beautiful pup!

I always love to see workouts, like circuit/boot camp style, that I can do at home with no equipment. Sometimes, to be perfectly honest, I don’t even want to make myself presentable enough for the gym in the morning! It’s a shame, I know. 😀

Lastly, I know you love NYC and I think you should make a weekend trip Sept 17 – 19 when I’m there! I want to go to Pure Food & Wine!!!

    • Fitnessista on August 24, 2010 at 9:17 am

gahhhh! i wish i could!!!! live it up for me 🙂

  30. Chelsea @ Strawberry Sweat on August 23, 2010 at 11:15 pm

Bootcamp workout for sure. Especially one that targets the glutes, since I am the typical runner with weak glute muscles!

  31. Amie on August 23, 2010 at 11:22 pm

Dinner looked delicious! And Viesa looks like a wolf in that picture 🙂

  32. Jenn on August 23, 2010 at 11:26 pm

  37. Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter on August 24, 2010 at 12:13 am

I have gouda, chilies, hot sauce, and tortillas in the fridge. Your quesadilla is SO tempting. I just stuffed my face full of sugar snap peas, hummus and strawberries but I’m sure I could make room 😉

  38. kelsey@snackingsquirrel.com on August 24, 2010 at 12:19 am

everyone knows that when the body is craving cheese and carbs its virtually impossible to resist!! but theres definitely room for cheese in one’s life, theres a lotta goodness in it.. calcium, protein, b12 etc. all good for the muscles 🙂

    xoxo

  39. Victoria on August 24, 2010 at 12:23 am

  41. Sarah Anne on August 24, 2010 at 1:02 am

Gina! That is the MOST amazing picture of Viesa! I cannot stop looking at her! ( Just what she wants probably!) You really capture her so well!

    • Fitnessista on August 24, 2010 at 9:15 am

  42. Chelsea on August 24, 2010 at 1:06 am

First of all, LOVE LOVE LOVE that picture of Viesa!

Second of all, I also loved your last bootcamp you posted, have done it twice already! So I say either another boot camp, OR a solo spin, because I love the spin bikes, but can`t always make it to a class.

  43. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on August 24, 2010 at 1:12 am

Hey i was going to email you but i couldn’t find where to “contact you” i’ve just started Insanity over a week ago, i love it so much but my knees are suffering, their pretty sore, i didnt know who else to ask but you, is this normal? could i be doing something wrong? hope you dont mind me asking!? x

    • Fitnessista on August 24, 2010 at 9:14 am

i didn’t have any knee probs with insanity, but one of my friends did. do you strength train at all? leg strength training will help and so will stretching. if they’re really bothering you, take a week or so off and see if that helps

I have a quick question – am I the only one who has problems reading your blog through Google Reader? Since Monday, it tells me that I don’t have permission to read anymore. When I go to the blog directly I don’t have problems though…? Just wanted to check in case I missed something. Thanks 🙂

    • Fitnessista on August 24, 2010 at 9:13 am

that’s really weird- is anyone else having that prob??

  48. Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine on August 24, 2010 at 7:11 am

I loved your last bootcamp post, but I’d also love a muscle-specific one for abs!! Solo spin would be awesome as well- all your routines have been amazing thus far!!

  49. kaila on August 24, 2010 at 8:05 am

i would like to see a workout that can be done at home!

  50. Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman on August 24, 2010 at 8:07 am

Quesadillas are the best quick, easy meal when you really don’t feel like cooking. Lately I’ve been loving goat cheese and spinach on a corn tortilla.
