Fashion Worm

Hi friends! Happy Saturday! How’s your day going?

I had A NIGHT last night.

image

The Pilot and I were talking on the phone, and I was Googling celebrity style tips (love copying celebrity fashion). Next thing I knew, I horrible worm was attacking my computer :/ The Pilot and I worked together for 3 hours to get the worm off, download new anti-virus (the worm wasn’t letting me open ANY programs!) and get it all fixed.

Lessons:

-I’ll never use Mozilla again

-I’ll follow the directions when my anti-virus tells me to update

-Will Google celebrity fashion stuff from my phone

In the whole process, I learned that my computer has over 400,000 files (168 were corrupted and are now fixed)!! Insane in the membrane.

This morning, Bella and I slept in, enjoyed some b-fast (the quinoa cereal I told ya about the other day. Gave it another try = still nast) and then I was dominated by a Pilates class at the gym.

pilates

I haven’t taken Pilates in forreeeevvvverrrr and boy oh boy did my abbies feel the burn.

It’s funny because when I started the little blog, I was totally a Pilates  girl. I hadn’t discovered studio yoga (studio yoga is often > gym yoga) and practiced Pilates a few times a week. Today, I was really excited to take my favorite guy’s class here in Tucson (the one who I would see after a night out with friends… and black feet), but he wasn’t there 🙁 The other instructor was excellent, and it felt so good to stretch and get in some great toning work.

Snackage was a protein muffin.

muffin (2)

These are more like a soufflé than a muffin. Very soft and light from the egg whites, but very unique and delicious. I think they’d be a thousand times better with some chocolate chips thrown in 😉

When they cook up, they expand like crazy too- I thought it was going to overflow.

muffin (3)

This afternoon, I’m going to see my madre so she can fix my eyebrows (they’re looking a little rough… and unibrow-ish. Hawt), and heading to a friend’s house for taco and Brad Pitt night. 😀

Have a lovely day <3

xoxo

Gina

PS. The POD arrived in Georgia today! The Pilot is in the process of going through everything and said he’ll send me some summer clothes I have in there. I love him so much 🙂

Something to talk about:

Are you more of a Pilates or Yoga Fan?

Ready for another Summer Shape Up this year? I’m still figuring out the deets, but let me know what types of workouts you’d like to see!

Sorry ab out your worm fiasco! I was wondering what browser you use if you don’t use Firefox? My company’s tech people always say I should never use Internet Explorer because of the virus/worm issue and recommended firefox. Do you use Chrome? Or something else?

Glad everything could be saved 🙂

right now i’m using internet explorer… do you think chrome is a good idea? mozilla was what gave me the worm :/

      • Dynamics on April 23, 2011 at 5:27 pm

IE is WORSE than Firefox. Try Chrome. I hear it is a much better option. It is definitely better than IE!!!

      • Tamar on April 28, 2011 at 12:20 am

Chrome is the best! Definitely use chrome. It’s a good idea to keep IE on your comp because there are a couple of websites that Chrome can’t access, but it’s a great browser. Sorry, I’m a computer geek. 😉

        • Fitnessista on April 28, 2011 at 12:40 am

i’m using chrome now! good to know you’re a fan 🙂

  2. Jenny (Fit Girl Foodie) on April 23, 2011 at 5:16 pm

I haven’t done either since I weight train but I hear pilates is quite the workout. Sorry you had a nasty virus 🙁 I use mozilla so now I need to remind myself to do all the updates!

  3. Jessica on April 23, 2011 at 5:21 pm

I like them each for different reasons. Yoga always lets me feel more centered and stretched out, but pilates really hits my abs hard every time I do it. So it’s a tie. Isn’t it fun when everyone wins?

  4. Errign on April 23, 2011 at 5:28 pm

I use Chrome & I’ve never had problems, but I’m not sure which browser is best. I just Internet Explorer..

In terms of summer shape up, I’d love to see outdoor activities on there – running, hiking, whatevs! 🙂 I’m sure it will be totally fab whatever you come up with!

    • Errign on April 23, 2011 at 5:29 pm

oops, supposed to say hate internet explorer.. 🙂

  5. Sana on April 23, 2011 at 5:31 pm

Poddd! I can’t wait till you get your cute clothes back! Yeahh my ex was a comp nerd, I give him my lappy whenever it’s having a fit!

  6. Crystal on April 23, 2011 at 5:34 pm

I started doing pilates over 6 months ago- and I hated it at first because I am super flexible by design, pilates was so hard for me!! Now I love it… I love yoga lots- which I should since I’m a teacher 🙂 I would have to say that I love them both pretty equally at this point. I have only done mat pilates, and I’m really looking forward to checking out the cords and whatnots.. Looks pretty scary, but could be fun!

  7. Ilana on April 23, 2011 at 5:46 pm

well, I’m a Pilates instructor so I might be biased, but Pilates really makes me feel centered and all over just WELL – yoga sometimes leaves me feeling frustrated.

  8. April on April 23, 2011 at 5:51 pm

Super excited to see another shape up. I have been following the WSU 2011 and its AWESOME. I am on the second round of it (I took a break in between weeks and did classes everyday at my gym). These shape ups are awesome. I have lost 16 pounds since January….this blog is a huge help!!

  9. Amanda on April 23, 2011 at 5:51 pm

I’m surprised Firefox gave you trouble – I’ve used it for years without trouble. I would probably try Chrome then…
For the Summer Shape Up I would love to see some killer leg workouts. I know you can’t spot reduce but my thighs need some extra (extra) attention 😉

  10. Becca on April 23, 2011 at 5:54 pm

I would really like to see some treadmill and/or ball workouts for beginners. I am just starting to train for a 5k and I am having troubles getting the motivation due to shin splints. I hoping there is some sort of a workout that I can do that doesn’t always involve running but will help with the stamina part of it too!!! Thanks!

    • Kimberly on April 24, 2011 at 6:56 pm

I second Becca…something for beginners using treadmills and/or ball workouts would be great! Any tips re: avoiding shin splints would be very appreciated. I really enjoy your blog!!

  11. MMiller on April 23, 2011 at 5:58 pm

I will NEVER use IE! I ONLY use Mozilla Firefox! IE is really a pain!

Glad you got it all fixed in a few hours!

  12. caitlin on April 23, 2011 at 6:07 pm

Boo on the worm 🙁 hate viruses.
I am Pilates all the way! I am a pilates instructor and swear by it! I do love corepower yoga though, hot yoga rules! Happy Easter 🙂

  13. Tara @ trulysimplebits on April 23, 2011 at 6:26 pm

I’ve always liked pilates more than yoga. I feel like I get more of a workout with pilates. That being said – I’ve only taken a few yoga classes and I’m sure there are many out there that would kick my butt any day 🙂

  14. Heidi on April 23, 2011 at 6:28 pm

Oh no 🙁 I have some kind of virus on my computer right now too. Ugh, it is so frustrating. I know Mozilla is better than IE, but I’m pretty sure Mozilla is the cause of my problem too. I used to be so techy, but now I can’t even get rid of this thing 🙁
I bet that “muffin” is awesome, I used to make something similar all the time. Now I’m totally craving one.

  15. Kari on April 23, 2011 at 6:46 pm

I would love to see shoulders and arm exercises on summer shapeup! I agree with others that chrome is the best!

  16. lisa on April 23, 2011 at 6:58 pm

    Gina,
Have you ever tried Quinoa Flakes for breakfast– they are at Whole Foods. I think you would like them.
Sorry to hear about your computer troubles!
    lisa

  17. Joanne on April 23, 2011 at 7:03 pm

I think pilates & yoga complement each other really well. A routine that includes both feels great for my body 🙂

For summer shape-up I’d love to see some more “non-traditional” workouts with lighter weights and toning movements – maybe Pilates or Tracy Anderson inspired! I’m getting a little tired of my weights/cardio routine, so something to mix it up a bit would be fun.

  18. Babs on April 23, 2011 at 7:08 pm

ICK on the worm! I had one last year and it fried my dang computer! Grrrrrrr
Wish I had the money for a MAC:(

Regarding workout: I have tried both but get more out of Pilates. Yoga is lovely but I just can’t get into it. I feel like a yoga fail because EVERYONE in Austin is nuts for it:/. It’s kinda..dull for me. Pilates, I work up a sweat and feel my core work!

Feel free to throw some burpee broad jumps for good measure:)

  19. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on April 23, 2011 at 7:40 pm

I have only used Mozilla/Firefox for the past 5 years..but I am also running a Mac so the worming situation I think is a bit less than on PCs..not sure. I dont have any issues with Firefox but have heard great things about Chrome. I just havent taken the plunge since FF seems to be working fine for me.

The major issue I have is blogging time…it SUCKS on a Mac. I dont want to install: Windows and pay for it, Windows Live Writer, AND install software to make my Mac run like a PC but everyone raves about WLW sooo much that I am so close to being tempted. I just dont want my machine even slower!

Computer issue suck girl. Glad you are back in biz!

  20. Samantha on April 23, 2011 at 7:41 pm

I love both! but for different reasons. Yoga is great for clarity and Pilates I feel the burn! When lazy or traveling I definitely lean more towards Yoga for the simplicity.

  21. Sara @BakingandWine on April 23, 2011 at 8:02 pm

Aw, don’t blame firefox. I love it! Blame those dang celebrity gossip blogs. They’ve gotten me too.

Did you use Rkill and Malwarebytes? That’s what I’ve used to get rid of the worm, but I keep using firefox.

  22. Tami on April 23, 2011 at 8:04 pm

As a triathlete I have a hard time working In Weight training when I am in the middle of our training (may-oct) I am doing this workout now it’s a little “leg” heavy but I do love it. http://www.healthontherun.net/the-core/

Between the swim, biking and running and yoga 3x each a week it can be difficult to even know what to do to…..

  23. emma on April 23, 2011 at 8:12 pm

I have recently fallen in love with yoga…..it’s like therapy and harmonises everything! Yay for the POD…i remember when you first posted about that – such a cool idea 🙂 How about some dance-toning moves…..like ballet Barre exercises or floor barre moves – great for the old leggies

  24. Lisa on April 23, 2011 at 8:39 pm

Glad the Pilot got a hold of the pod. I love when I pull out summer clothes that I forgot I had.

    • Lisa on April 23, 2011 at 8:41 pm

What Easter festivities are you doing?

  25. Kristin on April 23, 2011 at 8:48 pm

Sorry about the worm, that is no good. I like using chrome, it seems to have some built in security more so than Internet Explorer. I’m totally a yogini, although pilates is a good workout, I enjoy the full spectrum of yoga. With yoga there are so many different styles and kinds, plus I love the mental side of yoga and I have gotten more into the philosophy side lately and that makes it just that much more amazing.

  26. mi-an on April 23, 2011 at 9:06 pm

    I’m a yoga fan!!!

  27. chelsey @ clean eating chelsey on April 23, 2011 at 9:10 pm

There are a lot of nasty viruses going around on computers these days. The one I always get is the one where it says it’s going to “download files” and the screen that shows up actually looks like a desktop screen and then corrupts all the files.

  28. Stacy @ LoveDiscoveryGratitude on April 23, 2011 at 9:18 pm

lol well I teach Pilates, so definitely that. But I would love to get into yoga more. 🙂

  29. Ashley (Feeding Ashley) on April 23, 2011 at 9:20 pm

Ooh sorry bout the worm. I’m a firefox girl so maybe I should change that. I’ve never taken pilates,so I guess I’m a yoga fan. Can’t wait for summer shape up!

  30. sarah on April 23, 2011 at 9:36 pm

I teach Lotte Berk classes (i.e. barre classes), which combine elements of mat Pilates and yoga with ballet barre moves. I take vinyasa and Bikram yoga, and Pilates apparatus classes. I personally think that traditional Pilates mat classes are really boring, but I love to use the Reformer, chair, tower, etc…give those a try if you can!

  31. Jerri on April 23, 2011 at 9:52 pm

Sorry to hear about your virus. I had that same issue a couple of months ago and my genius BIL got me through it.

In case you don’t remember, I am the one who sends you good-looking vegan recipes when I find them. And since I just discovered something gloriously delicious- dark chocolate dreams- I was looking for recipes using it and found this nice-looking pancake recipe…and then of course, thought of you. Here ya go…

Ahh I got a horrible virus a few months ago that crashed my computer, its the worst thing I feel like my entire life is on there… im definitely a yoga girl!

  33. Holly @ The Runny Egg on April 23, 2011 at 10:46 pm

Ugh, computer problems are the worst!!! I’m glad you got it all figured out though.

I am so ready for a sumemr shape up — I was just thinking about what I want to do once I run my marathon in June.

  34. Nicole @ Fresh & Fit on April 23, 2011 at 10:58 pm

Oh no! I use mozilla! Is it bad? Should I not use it?

  35. Deb (SmoothieGirlEatsToo) on April 23, 2011 at 11:11 pm

Worms suck in insect and computer forms- glad it’s fixed.

By the way- are you using the Extra Dark Hershey’s cocoa powder for the muffins? makes all the difference in the world. perhaps I better mention that on my post! 🙂

  36. Ahzahdeh on April 23, 2011 at 11:16 pm

I would LOVE a summer workout!! I live twenty minutes away from the beach. I need to be ready ASAP!

  37. Cait @ Beyond Bananas on April 23, 2011 at 11:29 pm

Yikes – it is definitely scary when worms and virus attack your computer. How nice of the Pilot to help you through it for all those hours. Of course he would do that.. you’ve made it clear of how great of a guy he is!

  38. Kristina on April 23, 2011 at 11:37 pm

Sorry to hear about the worm on your computer – glad you were able to fix it. What anti-virus software do you use? I recommend ESET Smart Security – its a complete package and automatically updates everyday. I’ve used it for years now and have enjoyed secure protection without issues.

  39. Chelsea M on April 24, 2011 at 12:15 am

So sorry about the virus, those things can be so frustrating! The protein muffin looks so tasty and filling, how do you make it?

    • Fitnessista on April 24, 2011 at 10:53 am

      it’s deb’s recipe: smoothiegirleatstoo.blogspot.com

  40. Lissi on April 24, 2011 at 5:06 am

I would love to see an abs workout. Maybe a post on flax and it’s benefits, I keep hearing so much about it’s benefits. Thanks!

  41. Paul Biggar on April 24, 2011 at 6:18 am

Hi Fitnessista, Mozilla employee here. Can you elaborate when you say “mozilla was what gave me the worm”? We’re very security conscious, and would love to hear more about this.

    • Fitnessista on April 24, 2011 at 10:54 am

      hi paul,
it was more my fault than mozilla’s- i was using a version that needed to be updated and got attacked. it still wont let me remove mozilla from my computer. i’ve used mozilla for years without any problems- this was the first time

  42. Colleen @ The Lunchbox Diaries on April 24, 2011 at 7:39 am

For the summer shape up, I love to see some great back/shoulder exercises (that might be good for an August bride in a strapless dress 😉 )

  43. Tracy on April 24, 2011 at 7:47 am

LOL that “insaine in the membrane” comment made me laugh out loud!

  44. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on April 24, 2011 at 7:50 am

Yikes, sorry about the virus. 🙁 But at least you got it all fixed!

I would love to see some ab workouts for summer shape up. It’s the one area of my body that I just cannot tone up! 😛

  45. Leslie on April 24, 2011 at 9:37 am

SOrry about the virus! We had one just a few months ago and ended up just buying a new ‘puter!

I am definitely more of a yoga girl than pilates, BUT I haven’t really given pilates a try. I’m happy to stick with my yoga for now. And I LOOOVE my studio hot yoga! I haven’t found a gym yoga that stands up to it!

  46. Christine on April 24, 2011 at 1:04 pm

Pilates all the way! Especially pilates on the reformer. Incredible workout!

  47. Cassiopeia on April 24, 2011 at 1:36 pm

So glad you got your computer fixed! And yay for the POD arrival! Aren’t useful men great?! =D

I used to be more of a yoga girl, particularly Bikram, until I got told in no uncertain terms to STOP by a physiotherapist and a rheumatologist, as I have Hypermobile Joint Syndrome with associated benign pain, and so have all the flexibility and none of the stability needed for Yoga. Basically I can stick my leg behind my head, but it aint good for me! So now I have to do Pilates, which I enjoy but find hard to stick to. It’s just not the same as my old hardcore Yoga fix!

    Xxxc

  48. Gina on April 24, 2011 at 3:36 pm

O I can’t wait for your summer shape up! I am in need of a new routine! I love workin my legs and I really want to get some killer abs which I have never had. I don’t like super complicated ab work outs though. I’m just looking forward to what you come up with.

  49. Christin@purplebirdblog on April 24, 2011 at 4:07 pm

I used to love Pilates more, but yoga totally stole my heart! 🙂

  50. Keri on April 24, 2011 at 7:06 pm

omg LOVE pilates!! My mom and I take both reformer and mat classes together. I like yoga too, but I am def a Pilates girl!
