Impulse Buyer

Hey everyone! How’s your day going?

Mine has been pretty good- it’s RAINY today! I lurve it 🙂 I especially lurve it because I haven’t watered my herbs since last fall and magically some are still alive- I’m going to re-plant after our tropical vacay. Thank you for all of the vacation tips!

This afternoon, I snacked on some of the usual suspects:

smoothie

A smoothie, minus the glass straw since they’re both in the dishwasher.

Fruit bowl:

fruit

Apple, banana, strawberries and cinnamon

and I picked up this lovely impulse buy while I was at Targizzle buying other stuff I don’t need laundry detergent.

Organic mascara 🙂

My cousin sent me a text saying “have you seen this mascara yet? It’s organic and has a LEAF on the end!” and when I told her I was in Target, I just went ahead and bought it. Destiny, right there. I’ll let ya’ll know what I think 🙂 Have you picked up any fun new beauty products lately??

Well I’m off to train clients and then coming home for dinner and GLEE!

Have a great night <3

Gina

Something to talk about: I had a fun conversation earlier with some tweeps about meeting people in unexpected places. As ya’ll know, I met the pilot at Starbucks, and while I was doing some computer work there today, I tweeted:

How did you meet your significant other?? I love fun, romantic and weird dating stories 🙂 If you’re unattached, have you ever met a boyfriend or girlfriend somewhere unexpected?

Awww I love your little love story!! I have never met a “date” out in a public place!

Ryan and I have been together for 8 years (WOW!) and we have been friends for about 15! I was friends with his best friends sister 🙂 We would hang out all the time and he was just “ryan” to me. Then years later (after a nasty breakup with my last bf) he called me up to take me for dinner. The rest is history!

I had no idea he liked me for all those years when we were just friends!

You must tell us how this mascara is. Anything natural is always better!

    Have a great night!

I just bought some eye makeup remover made by the same brand at Target! I’m a sucker for organic-looking packaging. 😀

I was friends with my husband in college, but we didn’t start dating until after we graduated– right before he was planning to move to Los Angeles! Two weeks before he was scheduled to move, I realized I was crazy about him, and he canceled his move for me!! Right then and there, I knew he was the one!

I met my Fiance on the internet when we were 15. We just chatted as long distance friends n were still chatting at 18. We both realized we might have more than friend feelings for eachother. We met and decided we did and carried on a long distance relationship for a year. Almost 4 yrs ago he moved here for me and ironically enough next month I will be moving back to texas for him.

    • Fitnessista on May 4, 2010 at 4:27 pm

whoa, that is such a crazy awesome story!

  12. Lindsay on May 4, 2010 at 4:30 pm

We met when I moved in right across from him in the same apartment complex. Little did I know that we were BOTH trying to figure out ways to run into one another. The night I finally pulled it off I got flustered and cut my hand on a retaining wall in the parking lot. As I was trying to hide the cut he asked me out! We’ve been together ever since and are getting married next year! The funniest part is that I still have a scar on my hand as a reminder of where we started. 🙂

    • Emily N on May 4, 2010 at 4:52 pm

      That’s really cute!

I met my husband at the gym! Imagine that. Technically, however, I met him over 20 years ago when I was best friends with his sister. Fast forward to 2006 where we meet again, through his sister, when I ran in to her at the gym. Last year, on May 14, we got married in Jamaica (speaking of tropical vacations)!!

  14. LindsayK on May 4, 2010 at 4:34 pm

I actually met my guy at a pub six years ago, believe it or not. Neither of us are (or even were) big drinkers/partiers – so I always tell people that it IS possible to meet your future love at a bar! We’re getting married in three weeks 🙂

    • Kelly Michelle on May 4, 2010 at 4:39 pm

      awww congrats on the wedding!

  15. Lin on May 4, 2010 at 4:35 pm

My husband and I met at church… but it wasn’t a church either one of us belonged to. We were each just visiting because we each had a few friends there (who didn’t know each other). He was from New York and I was from Montana. It was pretty much love at first sight. In 8 months we were engaged and 3 months after that we were married in that same little church! We have now been married for 12 years and are still crazy about each other. [^_^]

  16. Kelly Michelle on May 4, 2010 at 4:39 pm

so remember those cauliflower dolmas you made? Right this moment I am munching the bestest thing ever. I made the filling from those and made it into the consistency of a spread. Then I toasted half an ezekiel pita and layered it w/ hummus, tomato, greens, mustard, and topped with loads of that spread. It is so so so so so good. Not quite raw but soooo delicious. I also envision it in a giant veggie wrap.

    • Fitnessista on May 4, 2010 at 4:44 pm

      whoa that sounds GLORIOUS

      • Kelly Michelle on May 4, 2010 at 5:21 pm

i’m soooo jealous you are going to the bahamas! i need a vacation, but it’s on hold until later this year…
i met my guy 7 years ago in the dorm cafeteria. i was sitting alone at a table, and he and his roommate asked to sit with me. i thought he was sweet and adorable, but i was incredibly shy and didn’t ask for his info.
A year later, i joined my sorority softball team and low-and-behold, he was our coach. Didn’t take long before we were an item 🙂 It was meant to be!

We met leading a church summer camp for Jr. Highers. No one else laughed at our jokes, except each other, that was our first meeting. 1 year later, after me pursueing him heavily, we finally started dating. 3 years later marriage, 6 years later, we still crack each other up.

what a fun love story! i saw your tweet earlier actually, but i dont have any crazy story. my boyfriend was the first person i met at college, but we didn’t start dating until march of my last semester! not that cool, but still funny to think about!

I met my hubby at a 70s party in college. He wore this hideous blazer and I thought he was a big loser. We have been happily married almost 2 years!

  23. melissa lillie on May 4, 2010 at 4:57 pm

A friend introduced me to my boyfriend. She knew NOTHING about him except that he ran and road a bike and lived in her neighborhood. She tried to get us to meet for at least 6 months until one day I said “If that guy has the nerve to meet some girls friend he does not know- I would gladly meet him” We met and have been dating since then. We moved in together last weekend.

As a single girl in the city; I love hearing these! I need to hear more success stories especially since my mother just called to tell me that the marine fleet was in town doing a demonstration in a local park and “I should maybe just wander by and look interested” Um, thanks Mom! Please keep YOUR success stories coming 🙂

  25. Julie on May 4, 2010 at 5:03 pm

No hubby for me yet but I can remember one interesting dating scenario.

I met a guy in a liquor store near Niagara Falls when I was 19 – (I was from PA – anyone else in the northeast flock across the border to take advantage of the lower drinking age?). Ends up we actually were both going to school in Pittsburgh and dated and hung out on and off for years. Haha.

Pretty much all other boys were picked up at bars or through mutual friends.

    Love these stories.

  26. kelli on May 4, 2010 at 5:06 pm

haha I always do that go to a store for something and leave with a lot more than I came with 😛 Well I have not met my husband yet (or have I and I do not know it) So I can not say..no boyfriends in my past. But it is so cool to say you met at a random place..or if its someone from your past you didn’t think you would marry!

  27. Hanna on May 4, 2010 at 5:10 pm

I met my boyfriend (of 2.5 years) at the gym that i worked at! His parents were members – he had just moved to my city and was using their membership for a day when i met him – i knew his parents before i knew him! : )

I LOVE the Physicians Formula Organics stuff! I use the tinted moisturizer and bronzer. The mascara smudges a little for me, but my skin is oily and it’s hard to find mascara that doesn’t smudge (because I can’t afford Diorshow anymore :(!)

I met my husband while travelling in the Galapagos Islands! I was backpacking in Peru (doing MAchu Picchu, etc.) and he was in Ecuadour on business. We were seated at the same dining table on the boat that you take for a week around the Galapagos Islands (off the coast of Ecuadour). All of us at the table exchanged email addresses and went our separate ways. I sent him an email when I returned to Milwaukee and he to Houston, saying how fun it was to meet him. One long distance date lead to another and 5 years of marriage has passed. We still travel all the time, in fact we are in Malta for 3 months living with his parents at the moment. You never know when you are going to meet someone!!

Oooh I think my story is *kind of* interesting so I will share… I met my boyfriend during my senior year of high school – he was drumming during a talent show and I pointed at him and said, “I want THAT ONE.” A piece of meat, he was/is! Ha! We dated until we went off to college, breaking up at the beginning of our freshman year (not on bad terms, just wasn’t going to work b/c we went to different schools). Well, we got back together about a month ago, during our senior year of college – sort of strange, yes? But it’s glorious 🙂 and we are happy!

I met my significant other in my running group. He’s a cyclist who wanted to start running a bit (and possibly meet a girl). About two months after he started showing up, we started dating. He stopped running and we’ve been together ever since!

We met in law school. I actually posted the full story on my blog today, because it’s our anniversary.

I was a bitch to him the first time we met because he was in my seat at lunchtime, but then I facebook friended him when I realized he was hot and he liked my boobs in my FB picture and accepted. True story.

I met Andy in a pub at a mutual friends leaving drinks. He wound up crashing on my couch and we stayed in touch and it went from there… to nine and a half years later 🙂
As for fun beauty products, I bought a summer color nail varnish in bright yellow. I had all these doubts about it and thought, well, it’s not very sophisticated is it? Then I decided that was no fun! 🙂

One of my good friends had been trying to set me up with her boyfriend’s roommate for years. I kept on politely declining, not wanting to be on a blind date. Two years ago, I went to a birthday party with my friend and her boyfriend. She introduced me to K and i immediately wanted to know more about him. She said that this was her boyfriend’s roommate who she had wanted to set me up with forever! Since that night K and have been together! And i later found out that K didn’t want to go the birthday party that night, but went anyway. so i really think it was *fate* making perfect timing for us.

i met my fiance (D) through a mutual friend (let’s call him Bob). i had been seeing someone else and was complaining to Bob about him, so Bob said, you should really go out with my friend, D. i of course refused immediately, hating set ups. Bob insisted he would not set us up unless he really thought we would be good together, so after some emails with D and cajoling by Bob, I agreed to go out for dinner with D (blind date!!!). we’ve been together ever since, and just before our 3 year anniversary, we got engaged, and we are getting married next September.

I love our meeting story- it was at a Halloween party in college. My “costume” was Girl of Your Dreams: a little nightgown (it was college, give me a break ;)), holding a teddy bear, and ballet flats. This cute guy I’d never seen before came up to me and asked what I was supposed to be and I replied “The girl of your dreams!” 3.5 years later… here we are!

I met Kyle at a funeral for some Guy I didn’t know. I went with someone else for moral support and was sitting next to Kyle. He was by himself and I remember looking at him and thinking “I could totally fall in love with this Guy” so I scooted over grabbed his hand and without saying anything he held my hand back. 7 years later and a baby on the way, we’ve been inseparable since that day.

I love that mascara, works just as well as my old favorite brand. After learning the horrors carcinogens in most makeup, I’ve been phasing into organic beauty products. I <3 their line of mineral powders too!

I once dated a guy I met tempting at a paper factory. I wasn't really suited well for the job but we ended up going out for year.

I met my husband in college, we were friendly, I was actually trying to help him date my roomate and he was trying to help me date this boy he was friends with. I had no idea that I had feelings for him but I knew I was really drawn to him for some reason. On my 20th birthday we were at a party (drunk haha) and he kissed me. I told him to wait while I spit out my gum so I could “really” kiss him haha. We have been together ever since then and got married this year on my birthday, exactly 5 years after that first night.

  46. Jennie {in Wonderland} on May 4, 2010 at 5:30 pm

I met my boyfriend at Disney World.

I worked in the Canadian pavilion at Epcot and he worked in the UK pavilion. I was actually training on my first day at the job, wearing heeeee-dious culottes and a lumberjack shirt and he strode up in his capris, knee-socks and billowy pirate shirt. Oh, Disney. He looked like a tall Harry Potter and was soooooo cute with his Welsh accent and glasses. He said hello to the girl who was training me and completely ignored me when I giggled and eyelash batted my way through a “Hello”. He says now that he didn’t even realize I had spoken, bahahaha.

    True love.

We eventually spoke – when he stopped by as a ‘guest’ and asked me to hold his camera bag and UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES put it on the ground. I put it on the ground. He says he knew right then that I was the one. 😉

We were best friends for a month and then we hung out during Mickey’s-Not-So-Scary Hallowe’en party at Magic Kingdom. That night, we went back to my apt to eat pizza and watch TV — we were both soooo nervous — and as we were sitting on the couch, a mile apart, he reached over… and took my hand.

    I’ll always remember that.

Siiiigh. It’s been almost four years and we’re still together. I love him and the fact that he still loved me, even though I was a lumberjack. <3

I met my hubby on a BLIND DATE that was set up by my FATHER! I was living in PA and planning a vacay to FL to visit Dad & he told me about “a friend” he wanted me to meet. We ended up spending the whole weekend together! (Dear Dad wasn’t so thrilled he didn’t get to spend much time with me though.) 5 months later we were engaged, then I moved to Florida so we could start out life together! It’s been nearly 6 years since I moved across the country for him and we’re coming up on our 5 year wedding anniversary this summer!
