Lovely Lemons

(Take that title how you want to, haha)

Hi friends Smile

How’s your day going?? Hope you’re having an amazing Saturday.

It’s my last day at work today, so I have to say “see ya later” to some lovely lemons.

lulu2

I am so, so grateful that I got the chance to work with such talented, uplifting and motivational girls (and dudes). I’ve grown a lot since I started at lulu, started to really get ahold of what I will make happen in life, and am crossing my fingers to transfer when I move- I have a second interview when I get there. (The whole “why I’m moving” story will go up Tuesday morning, and yes, I’m going to Tucson)

So as sad as I am to say “see ya later”, I’m so thankful for the experience and all of the friendships I created Open-mouthed smile

Last day of work food:

snacks

Breakfast cookie dough cereal + a Sun Warrior shake (promo was delayed until early this week- sorry guys, I can’t wait to order some too!)

+ THESE

collard

Raw collard wraps from Café 118. Erin’s looked so good last night that I ordered some to-go to take to work today, since I’m not able to cook right now.

collard (2)

They were REDONK. Crunchy, spicy, sweet, lovely. Just like the ones we had at 105degrees in Oklahoma (where I went to raw culinary school).

This morning’s workout was pretty chill- I read People Style Watch on the elliptical for 45 minutes. It was a good way to wake up and clear my mind- there’s a lot to do this weekend!

Hope you guys have an awesome Saturday and I’ll see ya soon <3

xoxo,

Gina

Men’s fragrance model? What on earth does that mean?? Sounds interesting, whatever it was.

My very first job was as a cashier at Walmart. It was awful. I also worked the shoe section at Belk, a southern department store for the Christmas season one year. That’s about it for me and retail 🙂

    • Fitnessista on December 4, 2010 at 4:26 pm

i was the girl who spritzed fragrance on a card in front of the counter and gave it to people as they walked by and talked to them about the fragrance. it was a contract job and a lot of fun

  2. Madeleine @ Stepping to the Bright Side on December 4, 2010 at 2:48 pm

In high school and parts of college I worked in a prom and pageant dress boutique in South Carolina… LORD do I have some stories from back then… since it wasn’t a chain, rules were pretty lax and the owner/boss was so funny- a total gossip queen!

  3. Jordana on December 4, 2010 at 2:50 pm

I totally worked at Vicki’s too! I worked there at Christmas-time and we had to give hand massages to random mall walkers to showcase our lotions. It was the worst!!!

  4. Julia on December 4, 2010 at 2:57 pm

Why are you unable to cook right now? I worked at Macy’s and loved it!

    • Fitnessista on December 4, 2010 at 4:26 pm

because i’m afraid to, and am in the process of packing everything

      • Brittany on December 5, 2010 at 2:19 am

This Is sad.. I’ve Been in your place before so I know how your feeling. hang In there 🙂 hopefully you can explain a little more in your tuesday post 🙂

        • Fitnessista on December 5, 2010 at 9:09 am

          thanks girl <3
the whole story will be up on tuesday

  5. April @ Crazy Fabulous Life on December 4, 2010 at 3:02 pm

Awww, you all look like a fun bunch 🙂

  6. Heather on December 4, 2010 at 3:18 pm

I worked / currently work at VS too!! I love it!! I currently also work at Whole Foods which is near my college’s campus. During prom season I work at a prom and pageant boutique which is super fun. I love being able to see all the dresses and try all of them on 🙂 Those lettuce wraps look uh-maze-ing (possible recipe recreating coming?)

    • Fitnessista on December 4, 2010 at 4:26 pm

i’ll totally do the recipe for them 🙂
if i worked at whole foods, i would have no money

  7. Krystina (Basil & Wine) on December 4, 2010 at 3:23 pm

Wait, Cafe 118 has take out?! Oh my God, I’m going to go broke.

    • Fitnessista on December 4, 2010 at 4:25 pm

yup just order it to go!

  8. The Pilot on December 4, 2010 at 3:27 pm

I’m glad you had such a good time at Lulu. I know Tucson’s going to be great. Love you so much!

  9. lori on December 4, 2010 at 3:29 pm

I worked at VS and Bath & Body Works. VS was fun, but I didn’t like how much they wanted us to push the angels credit card – we were told to ask customers about it 3 times before giving up! haha…I would be very annoyed if someone did that to me! lol. Bath & Body was a lot of fun, very light hearted. I always spent so much on the semi-annual sales! 🙂 Yes, this male fragrance model thing sounds interesting….
Those wraps look delish! I’m so envious of all the vegan/raw restaurants you get to go to 🙂 I’m in a pretty small town, so there’s not a lot of options.

    • Fitnessista on December 4, 2010 at 4:25 pm

i LOVED selling the angel’s credit card 🙂

My only retail experiences were at Starbucks and the cafe at Barnes and Noble… i freaking LOVED starbucks, but I think it was the coffee, not so much the retail experience. It was such a rush to make 8000 drinks in 20 minutes and know I brightened people’s days.

    big hugs!

  11. Holly on December 4, 2010 at 3:41 pm

My only retail experience is Target. I’ve worked at 3 different stores and it was the same everywhere! I have worked practically every position in the store, except for the executive ones. I hope to never have to work retail again, or at least at a Target, even though the discount is helpful!

    • Fitnessista on December 4, 2010 at 4:24 pm

i forgot to mention target! i worked there for 2 months, haha

  12. LisaG on December 4, 2010 at 3:45 pm

What goes in those wraps?! MMMM. I would have to buy something if I went in that store, y’all are so cute. That’s the idea right?

    • Fitnessista on December 4, 2010 at 4:23 pm

      you stop that 😉
shredded cabbage with a spicy almond butter sauce, carrots and avocado!

  13. Rebecca on December 4, 2010 at 3:50 pm

I worked at Old Navy. Sooo bad!

  14. Amanda (Eating Up) on December 4, 2010 at 3:56 pm

I worked at Limited Too and then a local jewelry and accessories shop–that was my favorite job!

  15. Ashley on December 4, 2010 at 4:02 pm

    Those wraps look freakishly delicious

    • Fitnessista on December 4, 2010 at 4:23 pm

      free? no. discount? yes.

  18. mm on December 4, 2010 at 4:32 pm

I worked at Barnes and Noble for a year right after I got married. I had quit my corporate job and moved across the country to be with the husband, and was trying to figure out what I wanted to do next. I loved it!! I’m a big reader so I spent most of my money on books, but I had a great time there. 🙂

  19. Jessica @ Dairy Free Betty on December 4, 2010 at 4:37 pm

I would LOVE to work at Lulu!!

I have done lots of retail.

    Sports store
    Lush
    Essence (an aromatherapy store)
    Roots (yummy clothes)

I liked retail!! I would be an awesome lululemoner, but the closest one is 4 hours away, which is a bit of a commute!!

  20. Eileen on December 4, 2010 at 4:39 pm

Good luck on your move back to Tucson. Nothing like home! I miss living in AZ too, especially since it is cold and snowy here. You can take the girl out of AZ, but can’t take the AZ out of the girl! Soak up some sun for me.

  21. Kim on December 4, 2010 at 4:56 pm

I’ve never worked in retail but I do a lot of retail therapy! Best of luck on your move!

  22. Alana on December 4, 2010 at 4:58 pm

I worked at a boutique that sold Sevens, Citizens and Juicy jeans. I spent every SINGLE paycheck on jeans. It was bad/AMAZING. And I worked at baby Gap and Gap Kids. I was in charge of catching mothers who were shoplifting onesies into their baby carriages. The emotional scars are almost fully healed.

    • Fitnessista on December 5, 2010 at 9:13 am

      hahaha!! wow

  23. Emily on December 4, 2010 at 5:15 pm

Great news re. Tucson! I’m surely going to really start salivating over your food from there!!! It’s a beautiful place 🙂

  24. salah@myhealthiestlifestyle on December 4, 2010 at 5:36 pm

I worked retail at a teen store in the lubbock mall, I think working at lululemon would be 400 times better than my experience working retail there!! haha

  25. Carolyn on December 4, 2010 at 5:45 pm

I am excited you are coming back to Tucson. Confident you’ll be pointing me in the right direction on some great eats and sights! I hope everything goes smooth during the transition.

  26. Amy on December 4, 2010 at 5:46 pm

At first I thought the text on the first photo said “Happy Hotdogs From Santa’s Helpers” – couldn’t figure out what that meant! LOL.

  27. rebecca lustig on December 4, 2010 at 6:06 pm

i worked at a tcby! i learned a lot about owning your own franchise and how hard it can be. and how difficult and complicated people get with their fro yo. haha

im sure there were a lot of emotions today, but its nice to remember that it’s just a ‘see ya later’ 🙂

  28. Toni on December 4, 2010 at 6:08 pm

I wondered what type of cup you use for your Sun Warrior shake. It looks like a good seal, and insulated?

    • Fitnessista on December 5, 2010 at 9:12 am

yup! it’s a glass protein shaker my friend got me at tj maxx

  29. Tracy @ Commit to Fit on December 4, 2010 at 6:18 pm

I have worked at lulu too and loved it! I learned so much and would totally work there again. My only retail experience, thus far.

  30. Amber L on December 4, 2010 at 6:24 pm

My retail past includes: Limited Too, Bath & Body Works, and American Eagle! I wish there was a Lulu around me. The clothes are so nice. I’m glad you had a great experience working there!

  31. Nicole P on December 4, 2010 at 6:43 pm

I worked as a cashier at bi-lo (loved it) and I worked at Yankee Candle (that was the job from Hades). It was great to smell the wonderful scents but at the end of the day I felt like I had run 10 marathons (somehow I got stuck moving the entire store around all the time, it was the holiday season). Now Victoria’s Secret sounds like the job for me!

  32. Cassidy on December 4, 2010 at 6:54 pm

I’m working at a chocolate store in the mall. It is awesome and we get all the samples we can eat… so, so dangerous.

  33. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on December 4, 2010 at 6:54 pm

I’ve heard some horror stories about working retail, but Lululemon sounds like it is such an amazing place to work! I hope you get the job in Tuscan. 😀

  34. ashley nicole on December 4, 2010 at 7:11 pm

i worked at LOFT and bevello, a local boutique! lulu sounds like a BLAST though!

  35. Averie (LoveVeggiesandYoga) on December 4, 2010 at 7:20 pm

Oh the raw wraps look great and I am glad you feel you’ve grown so much…it feels like such a short time (on the outside looking in, feels like just yesterday you started there!) and I am so happy that you feel you’ve grown and blossomed…and now…you’re moving on! To Tuscon! Congrats!

I think based on how close you are with your family, how your heart just seems light and carefree when you post from there…I can only imagine how happy you are to be going there!

And working retail…yep. Lots of mall jobs in h.s. and early college.

  36. Cassie @ A Very Busy Mind on December 4, 2010 at 7:21 pm

No retail jobs for me. I was *thisclose* to working at The Buckle, but I wasn’t pushy/stalkerish enough to make (force?) sales. I don’t know if it was just that location, or all Buckle stores, but they were big on pushing the sale, and I just wasn’t comfortable with it.

Can’t wait to hear about your Tucson plans, Gina. You’re a strong little lady. I’m sure the pilot being gone and the up-in-the-air way your life must feel sometimes has got to be tough. You handle it like a champ. <3

  37. Aubrey on December 4, 2010 at 7:26 pm

I didn’t know there was a lulu here in Tucson??

    • Fitnessista on December 5, 2010 at 9:11 am

  38. Adriana on December 4, 2010 at 7:30 pm

    why can’t you cook?

  39. Annie D @ Annie's Simple Life on December 4, 2010 at 7:53 pm

UGH I’ve had my fair share of retail. Hubby works in corporate retail- that’s a bunch of fun…….. meh…..

  40. CathyK on December 4, 2010 at 8:02 pm

i currently work retail and I LOVE it. i’ve been at the Running Room (over 100 stores in Canada and Minnesota) for 5.5 years, the longest i’ve ever held one job! it’s totally perfect for me: it’s not like work when you get to just talk about a favourite hobby! and christmas season is the best – so fun to help people choose christmas presents…and not have to pay for them yourself!
glad you learned so much from your lulu time, gina! have a great weekend!

  41. RhodeyGirl on December 4, 2010 at 8:03 pm

I’ve never worked in retail! I did work in 2 ice cream shops though, and later as a hostess at a restaurant that is still one of our favorites in RI! I loved the hostess job because I got to dress up, flirt with the cute boys (I was in high school) and eat delicious dinners late night!

  42. Rachael on December 4, 2010 at 8:03 pm

I actually can’t take Christmas music anymore from so many years listening to it while working retail. My own list includes Barnes and Noble, Victoria’s Secret (where I got to measure my science teacher’s bust. Awesome), Anthropologie and one very odd science store in Soho that sold raccoon penis bones, among other things.
    Good luck in Tucson!

  43. Whitney @ Whitinspired on December 4, 2010 at 8:35 pm

I worked at JcPenney, Bath and Body Works and Bed Bath and Beyond. I absolutely loved Bed Bath and Beyond. You got the most amazing employee discounts!

  44. Nicki A on December 4, 2010 at 8:45 pm

Gina, I’ve been reading your site forever but never commented. I’m a Tucson girl too, now living in Phx, but I just wanted to wish you the best and from what we all read, you have your head on your shoulders and will do what’s right for you. Trust your heart 🙂 And good luck with the move. Get Eegee’s for me!!

    • Fitnessista on December 5, 2010 at 9:11 am

      thank you!!!
i will definitely get an eegee for you 🙂

  45. Laura J. on December 4, 2010 at 8:46 pm

I worked at Charlotte Russe when I was in college and I currently work for J.Crew as a Personal Shopper and loooove it 🙂

So exciting that you’re going back to Tuscon! Good luck with your 2nd interview 🙂

  46. Kiran on December 4, 2010 at 9:06 pm

Omg! You are actually moving 🙁 I still owe u roti. Come over if you can before leaving?

    • Fitnessista on December 5, 2010 at 9:10 am

i’ll try! things are so crazy, i’m so bummed we might not get to have a roti party 🙁
      come visit me in tucson?

  47. Danielle on December 4, 2010 at 9:40 pm

I work part time at Loft right now (amazing discount – I use most of my paycheck to buy clothes to wear to my office job) and I worked at a scrapbooking store through high school.

    • Danielle on December 4, 2010 at 11:21 pm

if you don’t mind me asking, how much is the discount?

      • Fitnessista on December 5, 2010 at 9:10 am

        it’s very generous

      • Danielle on December 5, 2010 at 7:54 pm

50% off plus extra coupons for another 40% or 20% off if you hit your sales goals 🙂

  48. Ashley @ the fit academic on December 4, 2010 at 9:46 pm

I’ve worked at a Smoothie Shack, a Kay’s Jewelers, Bealls & Petsmart. Petsmart & Smoothie Shack were actually really fun (but then, I was just a teenager making a little spending money at the time). Congrats on the move to Tucson! So exciting!!

  49. Joanna on December 4, 2010 at 10:18 pm

I used to work in retail! I worked at the Abercrombie outlets and Sanrio, the Hello Kitty store. It was bittersweet. Some days were fun because of the interactions with random folk, and then there were days that were sucky, because of interactions with random folk… hahah.

    Those Collard wraps look DIVINE!

  50. Heather (Heather's Dish) on December 4, 2010 at 10:20 pm

i’ve never really worked in retail and don’t really think it would be my thing…well, unless you count Starbucks, then yes 🙂 and i did love working there!
