Man Fashion

Is it just me, or do men have it really easy in the fashion department?

Put a pair of designer jeans on him, along with a button-up shirt, nice shoes and what do you get?

Rico Suave.

Ok, so not all men are as fashionable as my Pilot love,

perez-hilton-fashion-disaster1 Source

{love Perez so much, but the above was a major โ€œoh noโ€}

but he also lets me pick out clothes for him ๐Ÿ™‚

He does a great job of finding good things on his own, but will almost NEVER shop for himself. Even if weโ€™re at the mall, standing in front of J Crew and Iโ€™m begging him to go in and pick out a shirt with me, heโ€™s like โ€œmeh. Iโ€™ll come back.โ€ No you wonโ€™t.

So Iโ€™ll just pick things up for him.. and he wears them ๐Ÿ˜€

Some combos that never fail:

Athletic

lululemon all the way. He was really hesitant to try the brand (how non-manly does lululemon sound? The name alone scared him) but once he tried it and realized that itโ€™s actually comfy, high-quality stuff, he became a fan.

(He especially loves the tees and shorts. Bonus accessory: the monkey on his back. Haha)

Casual

Polo shirt or button-up (J Crew), twill shorts (Banana Republic) and leather flip-flops (Aldo)

or graphic tee, patterned shorts (both Express) and leather flip flops

pilot

Nicer: the above mentioned outfit. Button-up, dark wash designer jeans, nice shoes

Nice: slacks, button-up, tie, nice shoes and socks + jacket (optional)

And thatโ€™s pretty much it.

If only life were that easy for girlsโ€ฆ buuuuuut we have WAY more options as far as clothes go, so we win ๐Ÿ˜‰

Does your man care about fashion? Does he let you pick out clothes for him?

My boyfriend never goes shopping for himself but will wear almost anything I buy him. Sometimes I wish he put a little more effort into his appearance…. but in the end, it usually means I get to do twice the amount of shopping!

The pilot is a good sport for letting you feature him in a post like this! I should let my husband read this post as after looking at Facebook photos last week, I told him, “I really should just throw away all your clothes.” Why is he so happy wearing the same clothes from high school!? He needs some serious style advice!

Our hubby’s dress VERY alike. Mine is very well dressed and has been since before I met him- I feel SO lucky too! He wears lulu and looks awesome in it!

He also loves getting dressed up, you don’t have to talk my guy into looking fancy! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m so grateful for that!

  4. Emily on July 27, 2011 at 11:25 pm

Omg I bought my fiancรฉ lulu sweat pants and he never takes them off! Lol he ended up just going back and buying more!! I’ll have to get him to try the shorts next ๐Ÿ™‚ u can never go wrong with lulu, I swear!

Men have the EASIEST fashion options! My boyfriend gets away with a V-neck and jeans for every occasion! Not fair ๐Ÿ™

My Love is WAY more stylish than I am. He dresses really well, and he helps me pick clothes! I am really really bad. I will wear a t-shirt and yoga pants all day everyday.

I wish I could just pick up clothes for my guy….. he’s picky. At least he let me dress him for an interview!

  9. OntarioGirl on July 28, 2011 at 5:18 am

My husband has t-shirts and polos with his company logo on them and that’s pretty much what he wears all week with jeans haha I have to admit I do find it kind of sexy because he’s the boss and there’s just something about that ๐Ÿ˜‰ Other than that I make sure when we go shopping that I suggest nice shirts, polos, button downs, patterned shorts etc and I make him get them or else he would be so clueless!!! He would do the same thing and say “oh I’ll come back later” and never would. Thankfully they have us! lol

Haha…men totally have it easy…plus no make up and hair hassles too! Just easy hotness, lol! ๐Ÿ™‚ xyx

My hubby is a fashionista…er fashionister? ๐Ÿ™‚ He has way more fun dressing up than I do and takes more sartorial risks. For casual looks he’s all about the polo shirts or button downs with jeans and khaki pants or shorts, but for fun he tends to throw in cowboy inspired, preppy inspired, or sort of tweedy English prof type stuff in the winter (and obviously not all at once). And somehow it all works. Of course he does have it easy b/c if he buys something classic, it’s going to last for a million years. In fact, he has some beautiful suits that his dad outgrew and gave him. No fair!
But I think the reason he can get away with some bolder looks is that when he gets something new, it’s usually a really nice piece. (He’s not as addicted to “disposable fashion” as I am.) It also helps that since he’s a non-standard size (he’s 5′ 5″ and muscular with big shoulders and a tiny waist) so he gets the pick of the litter at thrift stores. Again, so not fair! ๐Ÿ™‚
All in all though it’s great to be married to a fashionable man b/c it inspires me to step up my game and also b/c I trust his taste and can ask his opinion about my outfits. ๐Ÿ™‚

My hubby is a fashionisto, too! Luckily for me, he likes shopping and has very good taste, so I usually don’t have anything to worry about – except when he comes home from from the Nordstrom sale, for example, with more things than me – that’s just not fair!!!

You do a fantastic job dressing your man. I created a monster with mine. When we first started dating several years ago he dressed terribly and didn’t care about designer anything. After being around me for too long he is worse than I am. He’ll only shop for himself at high end department stores like Nordstrom or Saks. He owns 2 pair of the same Gucci sandals in different colors which is ridiculous to me and he’s begun collecting expensive watches. What have I started!?!

    • Faith @ For the Health of It on July 28, 2011 at 9:43 am

Haha, I turned mine into a label whore too! I’ve always been one, but I started introducing him to some of the nicer things (and even some of the high-quality mid-price brands like j.crew and polo) and he’s sunk, hook line and sinker!

  14. Natalie @ southern fit foodie on July 28, 2011 at 9:59 am

I totally agree – men have it SO easy! It’s like everything fits them just right… that must be nice haha. Daniel can pick out some pretty good stuff on his own, but much like the Pilot, he would rather me get it for him. I don’t ever tell him what to wear, but he will often ask me what I think would look good for the occasion. What type of designer jeans are those in the top picture???

  15. kirsten on July 28, 2011 at 9:24 pm

My husband is really bad at dressing himself. He came out of our bedroom the other day in brown shorts and a brown shirt of the same exact shade, I was like please change now! He will wear anything I buy for him which is great, he just needs some direction on what to wear with what ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. Laurie on July 29, 2011 at 10:27 am

Your husband is so good looking! Lucky!! Your baby will be so gorgeous (in a boy way ๐Ÿ™‚ ! ) Great choices on the outfits!

  17. Sonia (the Mexigarian) on July 29, 2011 at 5:05 pm

The closest my hubby gets to fashion is his board shorts and his tattered old 49ers Jersey. I swear he wears that every single day. It’s his comfy home attire. He buys jeans and simple plaid shirts from Old Navy or Target and that’s about it. I got him a guayabera last year as my wedding gift to him and. . . . he as yet to wear it :\

  18. Dominique on July 31, 2011 at 2:02 am

The BF has always been a jeans and t-shirt kind of guy. It makes him totally swoon-worthy when he gets dressed up for a wedding or special occasion. He’s tall (6’2) so he pretty much looks good in anything. I think so, anyway.

  19. Jessica on August 1, 2011 at 2:11 pm

My husband never shops for himself! I will buy him outfits every month or so. It’s very easy to pick things out for him. He looks amazing in just a plain tshirt and jeans.

I agree with you! Men have it soooo easy when it comes to fashion!

  20. Emma on August 2, 2011 at 5:19 pm

I wish my boyfriend would let me pick his clothes out for him!! I could dress him so cute! (Not that he does too bad of a job on his own, but ya know, always room for improvement and all that! ๐Ÿ˜‰ )
