Millet Frenzy
Hey everyone! Hope your day is going well <3 Any fun plans for this weekend??
Thank you SO much for the awesome feedback on the egg puff post! Per your requests, Iโll definitely make a b-fast cookie how-to next week ๐
With my egg puff last night, I had a salad beast:
And my beloved millet:
(with Polaner and Earth Balance)
Itโs a millet frenzy in the blogworld right now! So glad those of you who have tried it enjoy millet bread as much as I do ๐ A little while later, I had some unpictured spelt cereal because I was still feeling snacky.
This morning, I woke up ridiculously early to meet with my Lifestyle Challenge group at the gym. This weekโs challenge is to remove processed foods from their diet (each week, we add on a new goal to their lifestyleโlast week it was including cardio, strength training and water). We had an AWESOME discussion about processed foods. I just love chatting about white starches, glutamates, high fructose corn syrup and artificial colors and flavors. Good times ๐
Before leaving the casa, I munched a raw superfood bfast cookie
-1/3 C oat groats (processed in the food processor)
-1/2 scoop vanilla Sun Warrior
-1 T almond butter
-almond milk
-cinnamon and maca
-1/4 T chia seeds
-sprinkle of goji berries
-1/2 banana
-foodgasms
After meeting with my group, I hopped on the elliptical for an hour and then came home to pack.
Now, weโre ON THE ROAD to Orlando!
We stopped at Main Squeeze before heading out and I had a tropical superfood smoothie (with 1 scoop Sun Warrior and 1 t spirulina that I err, had in my purse in a baggie) and antioxidant blend.
Bella has been lap-hopping the entire time ๐ (Viesa is at the kennel โshe loves it there- because she tried to eat my auntโs yorkie) and I slept for an hour with my mouth wide open (embarrassing).
After driving for a while, I was ready for a Bizzle break, so I grabbed a Refresh tea:
And some snacks.
Bizzle is really starting to impress me with their snack choices:
Dried organic mango and a raw granola bar!
Check out the first ingredient:
MILLET! Letโs just say I was a fan ๐
Iโm off to keep the pilot company (because heโs my hero and is driving the whole way there) but Iโll see you from Orlandy. Weโre hitting up the Expo, mall (I hope!) and a glorious dinner.
xoxo,
Gina
Is spelt a whole grain?
I am loving millet bread sooo much. I throw a bit of cheese on it (smoked cheddar or goat) and set i under the broiler. It is so amazing.
Good luck and enjoy the race!
have fun in orlando! have you ever been to food for smile?
its super cheap deliciosa healthy vegan food sold out of a truck in the UCF area. i’m not sure if it’s open on weekends, but all of my hippie friends who live in the area live off of it!
Love that you carry protein powder in your purse! ๐
Looking forward to the breakfast cookie how-to!
Millet bread is terrific! I recommend it to many gluten free clients.
I would have LOVED to be a fly on the wall of your Lifestyle Challenge group discussion.
This month on the blog, I’m challenging myself to avoid preservatives, chemicals, mutant ingredients and freak-of-nature fats. If it doesn’t have a mama and doesn’t grow in the ground, I’m not eating it.
I’m sure your advice would have been helpful!
Yah! Have so much fun on your trip! I’m also on a little weekend get away with my (helicopter) pilot. We are hitting up Oregon wine country. Can’t wait for some tastings tomorrow. Have a safe trip!!!
I love that bar! I tried it on my last road trip, on my way to Canada!
Millet certainly is taking over the blogs! I’m always intrigued by your millet bread. I hope you had a safe trip to O-town ๐
i haven’t hopped the millet train yet, maybe i shall.
I would love to see how a bfast cookie is made, i am curious to try it sometime.
Looking forward to the breakfast cookie how-to!!!
What a fun weekend! My husband always drives the whole way too. We are lucky girls!
Have a great time in Orlando!
good luck at the race, can’t wait to hear about it!
Bella is sooooo cute!!
I also tried millet bread after hearing you rave about it. ๐
Have fun in Orlando! Good luck with the race!!!
have a great car trip! and no pictures of you sleeping with your mouth open?! haha ๐
I saw that raw granola at Starbucks, how was it?
Have a blast in Orlando and GOOD LUCK!
haha, i carry protein powder in my bag too! it came in handy the other day when i met my best friend for coffee on a whim. unprepared, we searched our cars only to find one packet of NuNaturals in mine and one packet of truvia in hers–not enough to sweeten two coffees!! Then I remembered my powder and traded her my scoop of syntrax nectar cappucino for her packet of truvia… heaven. and that is why we’re best friends ๐
I wonder if there’s anyone else in this world with Spirulina in their purse… mahaha I love it ๐
Sounds like a not so bad car ride. And I agree – although pricey, the snacks at Starbucks are impressive!
Totally agree about starbucks. I got and loved that same granola bar there a few weeks ago.
I haven’t tried Millet bread yet….must do it soon! Have a great trip!!
Good luck at the race!
Hi Gina~

I saw those snacks at Starbucks too! (I’m assuming Bizzle = Starbucks haha). I’m really impressed ๐
I always end up sleeping with my mouth wide open on car rides…it never happens anywhere else!
What kind of dog is bella? She is so cute!!
I always see your millet bread with nutritional yeast and want to try it. I’ve been looking EVERYWHERE for millet bread, but I can’t find any. Where do you buy yours? Is it by the other breads? Good luck this weekend!

What is the brand of millet bread that you buy? I really want to try it!
I bought one of those bars yesterday when I stopped at Starbucks for some tea! I got the goji berry flavor. I’m saving it for today’s afternoon snack. How was the blueberry one? Good luck on your half marathon!!! Enjoy Orlando ๐
I’m heading to Whole Foods today and I WILL buy some Millet bread!!
I must say that I’ve been intrigued by millet bread after reading about it on your blog and others. I’m going to have to get some!
Have fun in Orlando, and good luck at the race!
Will you please do a post that recaps what you discussed with the group that you worked with this morning? I would love to get your information and opinion on processed foods! Thank you ๐
have a fun road trip and weekend. and get some good shopping in!
I can’t wait for the breakfast cookie how to!!!
I’m clueless about millet…why do you like it so much and what are the health benefits? I’m trying to slooowly cut out processed foods, too. It’s crazy that I used to eat Lean Cuisine meals every day for lunch. As soon as I looked at the sodium (which wasn’t soon enough), I stopped! I have a ways to go though. Do you ever “cheat” and heat up a frozen meal when you’re crunched for time?
