(Missing that JAX beach right about now.. and my shenanigan buddies!)

Thank you so much to those of you who entered the roon giveaway!! So many fabulous entries and I always love hearing about your goals. Go after them, because in a couple of months I’m going to pick a couple of those comments to see if they were accomplished. Fun, huh? 🙂

So 99.98% of the time, I use random number generator (or random Pilot number generator), but this one caught my eye (and cracked me up), so they’re winning the prize:

What are you guys up to this weekend?

I’m working, teaching, going to my little bro’s soccer game, movie night with the girls and taking photos for my friend’s son’s science project 🙂 It should be a blasty.

Some recent eats:

sweet potato

Massive sweet tater, atop arugula, balsamic, topped with goat cheese and chives

Black bean tamale (filled with Portobello mushrooms and spinach- from Tucson Tamale Co.), with a boatload of fresh salsa

tamale

+ 3 egg whites

Smoothie (almond milk, 1/2 avocado, 1 scoop Sun Warrior, 1 scoop Standard Process dairy-free, blueberries) + tea to take to work:

smoothie

Perfection 🙂

I’m on the prowl for a gorg dress to wear when I see the Pilot again– no luck so far. My friend Michele and I will probably be dress-hunting this weekend, but if you’ve seen any incredible dresses lately, please feel free to link it up in the comments section!

Have a beautiful Friday and I’ll see ya this afternoon. <3

xoxo

Gina

Something to talk about: The last “first date” you went on. Where did you go? Was it disastrous or amazing?

Speaking of dates..

Today’s tip: Make a date with your foam roller!!! Take just 5 minutes out of your busy day to roll around on the roller. It hurts so good, will protect your muscles from getting injured, and (bonus) helps with cellulite. Need some foam rolling tips? Check out *this post*

How funny…I’m literally having anxiety about what I’m going to wear when I see the hubby for the first time after 7 months. I’ve already bought 3 dresses. J Crew outlet had some cute springy ones…if you are into them!

  2. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on March 4, 2011 at 10:48 am

Haha love the poem!! This weekend I’m doing another spinning training course, this time through Schwinn, which is a program with a really great reputation. I’m using it to work towards my goal of being a better spin instructor (because there’s always room for improvement, right!?)
Your sweet tater looks so good…. might have to make myself one of those this weekend too!

  3. Julie on March 4, 2011 at 10:49 am

    J. Crew has some great springy dresses right now…and I’m not just saying that be aide I work there!

    • Fitnessista on March 4, 2011 at 10:54 am

you work there??? i think j crew would be even more dangerous than working at lulu. j crew owns me haha
the only bummer is that i have to buy petite there because the reg dresses are too long- the selection is usually smaller

      • Julie on March 4, 2011 at 11:51 pm

The money I make disappears quickly. I can always justify buying tons of stuff, once I’ve bought everything I “need” we get a new roll out. Haha I would love to switch you jobs for a week…I’d love to do some damage at lulu!

        • Fitnessista on March 5, 2011 at 12:30 am

sounds good- let’s arrange a little temporary job swap 🙂

  4. Mandy (theamazonprincess) on March 4, 2011 at 10:49 am

I almost picked up a foam roller yesterday at Target, but decided I should wait and get an even better one. Do you have one on your OpenSky that you like? 🙂

  5. Natalie @ Will Jog For Food on March 4, 2011 at 10:50 am

My last first date was about a year and a half ago, when I met my hubby! We met through e-harmony, so I wasn’t 100% sure who he was. But he called me that afternoon and told me he sliced his had cleaning a cup and his hand was all bandaged up. So I looked for the bandage and found him right away 🙂 We had the best time! Talking and hanging out at the bar. It ended up being a 6 hour long 1st date.

    • Fitnessista on March 4, 2011 at 10:51 am

i love that story 🙂 my first date with the pilot lasted 4 hours

  6. Leanne on March 4, 2011 at 10:50 am

I need to find TWO cute dresses. 😀 One for my rehearsal dinner & one for my stagette!

  7. Jackie @ Baking Charms on March 4, 2011 at 10:51 am

Umm so the “first date” I was ever asked on was with my current boyfriend! The other guys I dated before him, well we already knew each other so those don’t count 🙂

Good luck dress hunting! I’ve been doing the same for when I see him (tomorrow!!) but it’s supposed to rain. Pants it is…

  8. Felicia (A taste of Health with Balance) on March 4, 2011 at 10:53 am

i love my foam roller, i can’t believe i went so long without one! its helped tremendously! i cant wait to see what dress you get and when you two finally see each other 🙂 so exciting!

  9. Valerie @ City|Life|Eats on March 4, 2011 at 10:54 am

My last first date was a long time ago – it was with my now husband in 2005. And we got married in May 2006. Crazy how quickly time goes by. It was an nice first date, though we went to a movie and there was a power outage, so some might call it a disaster. In hindsight I should have known he would be my husband considering how comfortable I felt with him.

  10. Ashley on March 4, 2011 at 10:54 am

I don’t think I’ve ever really had a ‘date.’ Me and boyfriend just kind of happened there was no preemptive dating. Maybe prom? I’m not sure, that’s a really good question.

  11. Ashley on March 4, 2011 at 10:56 am

so jealous of the ‘roon winner, but i gotta admit that response was clever & funny!

  12. MMiller on March 4, 2011 at 10:59 am

I had to laugh about what to wear when you see the pilot! It brought back some funny memories! When my husband was gone for 6 months I was also very concerned with what I should wear to see him! But in my case…He left when I was almost 2 months pregnant and he came home when I was almost 8 months! I was HUGE! So I picked the outfit that made me feel thinner! It didn’t really matter…I was quite different than when he had seen me last!

  13. Allison @ Food For Healing on March 4, 2011 at 11:02 am

    lucky winner!
dress shopping, yay, cant wait to see what you find.

that sweet potato looks awesome, i was thinking today that i need to buy some and make something for supper soon.
i never really went on any dates.
this weekend my family is getting together for my dads birthday.

  14. Michelle on March 4, 2011 at 11:07 am

oh man that tamale looks amazing. I want one nooooowwww! 🙂

Have you tried Anthropologie for a dress? They’re a little a pricey but usually have amazing spring dresses!

  15. Parita @ myinnershakti on March 4, 2011 at 11:10 am

My last first date was with my current bf years ago!! We had been hanging out for awhile, but finally went to the movies on our own. It was the day I realized I really liked him. I remember walking into the theater with butterflies in my stomach! I’m so excited for you and the Pilot to see each other. Yay!!!

  16. Sarah Jayne on March 4, 2011 at 11:11 am

    that sweet tato looks phenom!!!!

the best feeling ever is anxious/nervousness over a “date” with your significant other. so so glad the other half of your heart will be home soon 🙂

I really really love this “mullett” dress…business in the front/sexy party in the back!!

  18. Tracey on March 4, 2011 at 11:23 am

I went on a blind date the other weekend and knew right away we weren’t a match. I couldn’t have been more unattracted to the poor guy. Unfortunately we’d already planned to go bowling after dinner (way too much planned for a blind date), so when I offered twice to split the check…he told me I could just pay for bowling. Anyone been bowling in awhile? My jaw about hit the floor when the cashier said, “$42.37”!! What?! That was a definite waste of money. 🙁 Oh well. On to the next one! Still searching for my pilot. 😀

  19. courtney @ cupcakedynamite on March 4, 2011 at 11:27 am

those tamales look DELISH!! good luck on your dress search! that anxiety must be crazy – you’ll definitely find something amazing. 🙂 I’m sure the pilot would be just as excited to see you in yoga clothes. 😉

  20. Ryane on March 4, 2011 at 11:28 am

At the beginning of last summer, the stars realigned and an ex boyfriend of mine and I had started talking again. After a couple conversations after seeing each other out and about, we finally set up a day for us to have our “last first date”. We went to the beach (which I guess isn’t a typical first date location but since I wasn’t nervous being in a bathing suit with him… haha), I grilled out dinner in my backyard and we brought wine and watched the sunset downtown. Even after being apart for 2 years, we both agreed it was the most comfortable we’ve been with the same person 24 hours straight.

So happy for you and the pilot! I am loving the dresses Express is stocking right now, but I’m sure you’ve checked them out already!

  21. Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter on March 4, 2011 at 11:37 am

I’m going on a triple date tonight! What’s really great is everyone knows my difficult eating habits (I’m “sensitive” to SO many foods), and my date even asked me if the place we’re going will be ok with my stomach. 🙂

  22. Katie on March 4, 2011 at 11:41 am

I miss you TO PIECES!! it was so fun to hang out with you , your my soul sister for sure ; ) I better get to see you again soon, Im thinking a trip out there in the summer to hang out would be sweet!

I hope you find a dress!!! Im sure you will have some luck, I have to say I LOVE you in red but any color will look amazing on you ; )

And my first date I already told you ; ) I did forget to mention ours lasted long, Mike almost choked on a huge piece of sushi, lol, and we got kicked out, we closed the place down , didnt realize they were closing we were having too much sushi and wine and talking!

    Love ya girl! xoxo

  23. Colleen @ The Lunchbox Diaries on March 4, 2011 at 11:44 am

My last first date was almost five years ago – and it was with my fiance! We had met at school through Greek life and were friends for several months before he asked me to come over for a home cooked meal. I was a freshman and had been complaining about missing “real food” (aka NOT dining hall food) so he made this delicious chicken dinner. It was so cute 🙂

  24. Nicole on March 4, 2011 at 11:51 am

My last first date was with my now husband! It was love at first sight! (and it was a blind date)In 7 days we will be married for 7 months! We went for sushi!

    • Katie on March 4, 2011 at 12:01 pm

Nicole I had to comment, so awesome!! My fiance and I fell in love on our first date too blind date too , and it was sushi we had as well!!!! We are getting married this june! Congrats on 7 months being married soon!!!

  25. Meghan on March 4, 2011 at 12:01 pm

Ooo the foam roller! Whenever I use it I invariably hear John Mellencamp’s ‘Hurt So Good’ playing over and over in my head. It helps with the pain tolerance 🙂

  26. Brittany on March 4, 2011 at 12:01 pm

The last “first date” I went on was when I was 17, with my now-husband 🙂 Dinner and a movie. I talked way too much, but I guess he didn’t mind. He told me a few years later that after that date, he told his best friend that he was going to marry me. Pretty outrageous for an 18-year-old, no? Seven years later, turns out he was right!

    • Shareece on March 4, 2011 at 12:49 pm

I just have to say I love this experience you had! I think it’s amazing when people ‘know’ right away. 🙂

  27. Ash on March 4, 2011 at 12:11 pm

      um YES

  29. Kaytee on March 4, 2011 at 12:39 pm

My last “first date” was both distastrous and amazing. I was meeting up with the guy for drinks with a big group of his friends. I ended up waiting for-ev-orrrr for them to get there because one of the girls was taking a long time to get ready. So by the time he got there, I was sort of cranky but tried my hardest not to let it show. After a few drinks, he asked me if I wanted to go for a walk downtown, which was really nice. It turned out to be the right decision I guess because we’re moving in together in about two months. 🙂

I’m glad to know I’m not the only one freaking out about what to wear when we’re reunited with our guys! I’ve already bought three potential dresses for Ranger School graduation next month. (Two of my three came from Macy’s and one from H&M.)

  30. Maria on March 4, 2011 at 12:43 pm

My last first date was to a Chicago Cubs game with my now fiance. They were playing the Milwaukee Brewers (my hometown). We had awesome seats, he was definitely trying to impress 🙂 Since that date, our seats have just gotten higher and higher up! haha! I still enjoy the games though.

  31. Shareece on March 4, 2011 at 12:46 pm

Haha, good choice picking that poem, so funny!! You’re going to find the perfect dress, no worries!

  32. Dana Marie on March 4, 2011 at 12:51 pm

re: dresses- Zara usually has cute dresses for decent price –

  33. Kelly F. on March 4, 2011 at 12:51 pm

Lulus.com always had adorable, affordable dresses and shopbop.com has amazing dresses, but a bit pricier :(. I LOVE dresses, and would wear them every day if I could!

    • Fitnessista on March 4, 2011 at 1:31 pm

love dresses too- it’s so much easier than putting together an outfit 🙂

I went on a first date last night!!! It was wonderful…but disastrous in one way — I TOTALLY TRIPPED and completely wiped out, flat on my face. I am STILL reeling from embarrassment, but thankfully the guy was really sweet and helped me laugh it off. Yay!

    • Fitnessista on March 4, 2011 at 1:30 pm

oh no!!! i’m sure he’s forgotten about it by now 🙂

  37. Ruthiey on March 4, 2011 at 1:04 pm

It might be a little too dressy for what you’re thinking, I know you’d look great in this color.

Oh lord, I need a serious date with my foam roller (and a masseuse) pronto! I did something funky to my knee the other night during Lifeforce Fitness when the instructor was having us sprint in place, do mountain climbers and jump rope for 5 min straight. My knees and the attached ligaments are not too happy about that right now. We’ll see how my 17 miler goes this weekend. EEEKS!

  42. Erica on March 4, 2011 at 1:31 pm

My last first date was with my husband and it lasted 8 hours! We went bowling, to the movies, dinner and to Santa Monica beach. It was definitely epic and amazing – and here I am 9 years later – an Air Force Wife and mom to an 8 month old.
As for a homecoming dress, I would recommend anything from Anthropologie, I seriously love their dresses.

  43. Megan @ Healthy Hoggin' on March 4, 2011 at 1:34 pm

My last “first date” was with my hubby– nearly 6 years ago! Holy cow. We actually went to college together, but didn’t start dating until the summer after we graduated. In fact, it was the 4th of July, and he took me to a rooftop to shoot off fireworks with some friends! Sparks flew…. literally. 😉

  44. Cassidy Hogan on March 4, 2011 at 1:46 pm

  47. kate on March 4, 2011 at 2:14 pm

I just left Forever 21 (even though 21 seems like it was ages ago, unfortunately) and they had THE best dresses! Super cute! And a dress oddly enough they had the same dress I just bought at a local boutique for like 1/3 the price. Go figure….
And although not my last first date, one of my first dates was with this guy (who is still a friend) who took me to the movies. Not a big deal except he knew I worked at the movies and got in for FREE! Can you say EL CHEAPO. That romance never really took off, clearly.

  48. Juliette @ Finish Your Broccoli on March 4, 2011 at 2:16 pm

H&M has some CUTE stuff in. BCBG is a little more expensive but they are my go-to brand for dresses!

Question: where’d you get that smoothie container? I want it!

    • Fitnessista on March 4, 2011 at 3:21 pm

bcbg always has gorgeous dresses! it’s from tj maxx- hoping to get them in my opensky store

  49. Joanna on March 4, 2011 at 2:22 pm

Check out The Blue Door Boutique on Facebook for a dress. It is a small boutique in Columbus, Georgia. They post their new arrivals EVERY DAY and have great prices. You just comment on the photo or call the store to order and they ship it to you. LOVE IT!

    • Fitnessista on March 4, 2011 at 3:20 pm

The tamale looks awesome! I bet the portabello filling is awesome. Mmmmm, makes me want to make something like that.

Taking pics of your friend’s son’s science project..interesting!

Dress shopping…I KNOW you will find something awesome to wear. And I know you are a great shopper so you’ll find something…Nordstrom Savvy department, Bebe, BCBG, Express, Limited, H & M, F21,depending on budget, those are some of my dress shopping places.

I think it’s awesome how you always want to get dressed up for the Pilot after he’s been gone, too 🙂
