Spontaneous Spinning

Hi guys! Hope your morning is treating you well!

First things first, the winner of the Celestial Seasonings giveaway:

Erin! Congrats! Please email me your shipping info so we can get your care package on the way- I’m excited to hear your review, too!

Mayjah thanks to everyone else that entered—if you’re feeling blah, definitely seek out some tea or natural cures (a shot of fresh wheatgrass will do WONDERS).

So last night, much like my life, erred on the side of random…

Random eats:

smoothie

A PINK smoothie with strawberries, Sun Warrior and almond milk

Abundant millet bread (I went back for another slice because I’m in love) sprinkled with nutritional yeast

millet

Giant bowl o’ veg with leftover artichoke dip, red pepper flakes and Earth Balance

vegg

Hunka goat gouda… because it’s so gouda 😉

gouda

So I went to teach Zumba and we had the most people I’ve EVER had to take class.I can’t even tell you how stoked I was… until the STEREO BROKE. Ya’ll know that aerobics technology and I don’t get along. I actually stopped teaching step class because of all of the technical difficulties we had in every class. Not in a diva way at all, but my sanity just couldn’t handle it and class had dwindled away to nothing.

ANYWHO, the stereo broke during Zumba and since there was no other space we could use, I had to cancel class 20 minutes in. Instead of wasting a trip out to base –and I still wanted to get some cardio action in!- I herded everyone who could get a bike into the spin room and taught an impromptu 40 minute spin class. So random, but totally awesome. I was a sweaty beast by the end and everyone said that they appreciated that I stuck around to do some kind of workout. Fingers crossed that we figure something out for Wednesday!

On another note, some of you had a very good idea on what my crazy news is.

Here’s hint 3:

Friday I’ll reveal the big surprise.. but until then, I like hearing your guesses 🙂

I’m off to run then make lunch for my clients.. faux chicken salad with bloomin’ onion bread today.

See ya before the wive’s coffee!

xoxo,

Gina

Today’s tip: Try ending your weights sesh with one set of high reps to get an extra burn on the muscles you just worked (be careful and responsible, obvi). It will make you feel hardcore by pushing yourself at the end, and it can aid in faster results.. I’m always a little more sore when I do this. For example, next time you do arms, crank out 25 dips or pushups at the very end. Burn baby, burn!

I LOVE LOVE LOVEEEE Spinning!!!! 🙂 🙂 My newest obsession is spinning podcasts when I can’t make a class.

  2. Mara @ What's For Dinner? on February 9, 2010 at 8:27 am

Hehehehe i think I know… is it something we’ve discussed before?

  3. Erica on February 9, 2010 at 8:28 am

Ughhhhh! Hate when the stereo messes class up. Way to make it work! Your veggie arti dip mixture from last night looks so yummy! Hope you have a great day- can’t wait to hear your news

  4. Jessica @ How Sweet on February 9, 2010 at 8:32 am

Ohmigosh I totally hear you on stereo issues. For years at my gym we also had microphone issues – everytime I went to teach it was like a major panic attack. So I teach sometimes with the mike and just lose my voice. 🙂 Totally worth it!

  5. kalli@fitandfortysomething on February 9, 2010 at 8:35 am

Now you have me confused……good job going with the flow and continuing the workout.

BTW, are you better from your sickness?

    • Fitnessista on February 9, 2010 at 8:40 am

yes, so much better. thank you! <3 how are you feelin??

  6. Sara @ Activegal on February 9, 2010 at 8:39 am

My gym has issues all the time, mostly with the microphone and it always interupts class…awesome that you were able to continue the class in another way! 🙂

  7. Lindsey @ Sound Eats on February 9, 2010 at 8:39 am

    You’re working at Zaxby’s, aren’t you?!?

bahaha just kidding, how hilarious – it was on the map and I just got a kick out of the idea of Miss Fitnessista dishing out fried chicken fast food.

    • Fitnessista on February 9, 2010 at 8:40 am

      hahah, um NO 🙂

    • Molly @thevegandorm on February 9, 2010 at 9:45 am

haha I didn’t know what Zaxby’s was, so I was like, “Maybe she’s cooking/selling macaroons in some kind of restaurant?” Then I googled it, and the first thing that popped up was fried pickles haha.

      • ashleigh on February 9, 2010 at 10:17 am

LOL I thought the same thing and googled it and then figured no way! I still think the fitnessista is baking macaroons for either the health food store or the juice place??!

  8. Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg on February 9, 2010 at 8:46 am

Ugh– I hate technical issues at gym classes! I used to take a yoga class where the stereo skipped ALL the time, and I finally just stopped going– it wasn’t’ very zen 🙂

  9. kristin on February 9, 2010 at 8:46 am

i hope you are opening a bakery or something exciting like that. please please please offer some online shipping i am DYING to try your famous macaroons!

  10. Nicole @ Making Good Choices on February 9, 2010 at 8:46 am

I love spinning and I am sure the people in your class appreciated you sticking it out because I would! I can’t wait to hear your announcement!

  11. Jessica P. on February 9, 2010 at 8:53 am

Seeing Baytree Rd makes me a little nostalgic for when I lived in Valdosta! Anyway, my guess is that you’re opening a raw or organic bakery-yummy- or as Rachel Ray might say yumm-o!

  12. M on February 9, 2010 at 8:56 am

I think you’re going to be working at either a raw food place or a bakery with those lovely macaroonies of yours 🙂 All I know is those shoes look WAY better than the one’s I had when I worked at Starbucks. *ugh* can just remember the back aches!! Hope you’re over your cold by now? …I know that is totally no fun!!

  13. Haleigh on February 9, 2010 at 9:09 am

What a fun impromptu spinning class! I can’t wait to hear about the surprise. I am guessing that you will be working for a bakery or something of the like.

  14. Catherine on February 9, 2010 at 9:11 am

I stick with everyone else when I say I think you’re opening up some kind of good eats place. There’s a lot of open space on that map that could be filled with raw macroons, kale chips, raw breads/chips and other delish goodies!! Way to make things work for ya when the stereo broke too 🙂

  15. Paige (Running Around Normal) on February 9, 2010 at 9:12 am

    Sorry aboout the stereo issue!
I’m in love with Millet bread too (thanks to you!) So good with a little earth balance and cinnamon 🙂

I think you’ll be opening up your own macaroon store? Or bakery? Or working at one? Hmmm..
    Have a great day!

  16. Lauren @ Eater not a runner on February 9, 2010 at 9:16 am

Well I have no idea what your news is but I’m excited to find out 🙂

  17. laura dishes on February 9, 2010 at 9:27 am

Hmm… either you’re working at a bakery or opening a bakery… I can’t decide which one! My best guess is that you’re going to be the raw baker (Does raw baker even make sense? lol) at an existing store. 🙂

  18. Rach on February 9, 2010 at 9:27 am

Ok, I haven’t been in V-town in 3 years- so I am staring at the map going… “there is Zaxbys, there is the drive thru greasy lil biscuit place, there is the gas station, there is the steak place, the tattoo parlor…” HHMMM!?!?!? Guessing you are going to be selling some goodies outta one of those lil stores- {maybe by that day spay if it is still there?!?} a store of your own perhaps? I will so tell all my friends about it if you do!!!!

  19. AmyJoGo on February 9, 2010 at 9:32 am

My guess is that you’ll be making your trademark raw macaroons and selling them at your local health store or something similar. Aren’t those the shoes you wore at school in OKC? BTW…if you ever decide to start selling them, let me know…I’d like to buy some!

  20. Karyn on February 9, 2010 at 9:34 am

bummer about the stereo. that is 100% why i hate all things technological haha

  21. Jenn @ Livewellfit on February 9, 2010 at 9:48 am

I think you are opening your very own raw foods store/restaurant in town! We will all come for the opening! I would give anything to get out of Boston right now…freezing!

Good luck with the fauc chic salad- sounds goooood!

  22. Christie @ Honoring Health on February 9, 2010 at 9:55 am

Are you opening a bakery?? That would be so cool!

  23. Morgan @ Healthy Happy Place on February 9, 2010 at 10:00 am

the surprise invovles cooking somehow..maybe opening a store? Or maybe selling baked goods to a local store?

  24. Elizabeth on February 9, 2010 at 10:07 am

where do you get your maca? i have looked at whole foods and another store like it here in Texas. no luck- only have seen it online.

  25. Stephanie on February 9, 2010 at 10:10 am

My guess is you are opening your own raw bakery or restaurant. I hope so!

  26. Stephanie on February 9, 2010 at 10:15 am

I’m so confused though! What are you going to do when you guys have to transfer somewhere else? Franchise? HAHA, assuming what everyone is guessing is right. So awesome though if it is true!!!

  27. Teri [a foodie stays fit] on February 9, 2010 at 10:23 am

Technical problems while teaching are the worst! I’m so sorry. But you are so nice to give an impromptu spin class!

I’m guessing you are starting a raw bakery??

  28. Destiny on February 9, 2010 at 10:23 am

    Hi there Gina

I have a few more questions for you, I am currently learning how to eat healthy for the first time, well, ever. I am working out hard on the treadmill and doing weights, i have lost about 65-70 pounds and am trying to lose my last 20. Most of the loss was due to just cutting back calories and working out, then a small portion of it to weight watchers, i am trying to revamp my whole relationship to food, and although still love it, have a healthy relationship with it. I dont really know how much to eat though, i have read so many places that exercising will make you hungrier but then i read too that if you exercise on a consistent basis it actually serves as a suppressant (ugh!) How did you find out how to eat, how much to eat, without counting calories, or eating too much or too little, for the past week i have been eating 3 meals a day, and eating healthy and having good snacks, but i dont think im eating enough, i am feeling tired and headachey when i work out, and i almost passed out a couple of days ago after killing it on the stairclimber… then after talking to one of my fit friends finding that i didnt eat enough the night before but it was really late by the time i got around to eating dinner so i kinda snacked and went to bed, not hungry or anything! if you could offer any insight into this that would be great!!

*keep doing what you do, you inspire, teach, and encourage me SO much. Thank you!!

  29. Lindsey512 on February 9, 2010 at 10:27 am

Gina…I think you’re expecting a little one!! Is that the surprise? Not sure about the map hint but the other posts have to do with feeling a little under the weather. And the comfy shoes….

  30. Run Sarah on February 9, 2010 at 10:27 am

Excited to hear your news, not sure what it could be!

  31. Heather (Heather's Dish) on February 9, 2010 at 10:49 am

are you becoming a personal chef? or opening a restaurant? no matter what i’m so excited to hear about it Friday! 🙂

  32. thedelishdish on February 9, 2010 at 10:54 am

anything that involves your macaroons must be excellent news! hopefully it will involve us being able to have access to your famous macaroons…cant wait to hear the official word!

  33. Salah@myhealthiestlifestyle on February 9, 2010 at 10:55 am

Are you moving to a new place?? haha I’ll be anticipating the reveal!!

  34. Janna (Just Flourishing) on February 9, 2010 at 11:02 am

    Aw best fitness instructor ever!

BAH I want to hear your news!!!!!

  35. Melissa (MelissaLikesToEat) on February 9, 2010 at 11:03 am

Please be opening a bakery where I can order macaroons!

  36. Grace on February 9, 2010 at 11:04 am

I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one who puts nutritional yeast on my bread–the hubby thinks it’s gross.

  37. Sammi on February 9, 2010 at 11:18 am

Are you opening a bakery? Please come to Sarasota!

  38. Mary on February 9, 2010 at 11:19 am

My guess is you rented a space with a commercial kitchen so you can make your macaroons and other raw goodies in a health dept. approved place, so you can sell them both locally and more importantly ONLINE. That’s what I’d be doing, anyway!

I didn’t enter but I’m curious if the giveaway winners are now picked based on quality response rather than randomly? If there’s one I want, I need to know to prepare a lovely post!

  39. Cassie @ A Very Busy Mind on February 9, 2010 at 11:22 am

I’m totally drawing a blank. The consensus seems to involve a bakery though…that would be cool!

  40. ida on February 9, 2010 at 11:34 am

we have to wait until friday?! it’s going to be a long week:) you’ve obviously been working hard on this mystery project for a long time, i’m happy for you that it’s finally coming together.

  41. Lisa on February 9, 2010 at 11:43 am

Good way to improvise with the zumba/spinning hoopla.

  42. Amy on February 9, 2010 at 12:04 pm

Considering my sister is a pastry chef, and she has the same shoes, and you said macaroons… could it be a raw bakery in your future? 😀

  43. All Women Stalker on February 9, 2010 at 12:08 pm

I love smooothies! And sounds like you’re enjoying your Zumba classes!

  44. Katie@ Two Lives, One Lifestyle on February 9, 2010 at 12:13 pm

Hmm something to do with moving? Or some sort of new real estate>

  45. Heidi (Fighting with Food) on February 9, 2010 at 12:27 pm

I even did a street view to figure this one out. Are you going to “Steak Out” for a Cheesesteak? I do see a nice shopping center that would make a perfect locale for a bakery and some yummy breakfast cookies!

  46. Danielle on February 9, 2010 at 12:38 pm

I think you are opening up your own raw foods bakery and will be using all the cool things they taught you at your raw foods school….and the macaroons ill be available to the public.

  47. kt F on February 9, 2010 at 1:04 pm

Speaking of ‘burn baby burn!”, my obliques are killing from those saxon side bends! Nice, thanks for a new way to work them!

I’m super excited to find out what’s up!

    • Fitnessista on February 9, 2010 at 1:06 pm

yeahhhh! those saxon side bends are KILLER!

  48. Angela (The Lady Loves to Eat) on February 9, 2010 at 1:09 pm

I totally googled zaxby’s and saw that it was a chicken place ahahah! That’s for sure not it!

    • Fitnessista on February 9, 2010 at 1:24 pm

      LOL. definitely not 😀

  49. Susan on February 9, 2010 at 1:26 pm

I’m guessing a baby is on the way and that’s why you weren’t feeling well, the sensible shoes and the map of where your doctor/maternity unit is? Total guess!

  50. Kristilyn (My 29th Year) on February 9, 2010 at 3:34 pm

Good idea with the spinning! I’ve never tried Zumba before, but I love spinning. I can see how frustrating it would be to lose the music! I feel like that when I’m just running all by myself.
