The Honeymooners

Hey everyone! How are ya??

beach

Hope your day is off to a great start 🙂

Last night, we had a blasty exploring the resort and surrounding area.

Our first stop was the beach.

me

The water here is SO WARM! I’m usually a giant chicken and haaaate cold water, but I can actually see myself swimming  doggy-paddling around in there 😉

It’s pretty exciting because there’s actually a reason why we’re here in the Bahamas- it’s our HONEYMOON 🙂 That’s right, almost 3 years after being married, we’re finally going on our honeymoon. Better late than never, eh?? When we got married, the original plan was to take a low-key trip to Vegas (since our wedding was ginormous), but the pilot ended up having to be at work for training that Monday. Ever since then we’ve either been moving, or the pilot has had military schtuff, so the fact that he got to take some time off and vacay with me is pretty baller 🙂

pilot

For dinner, we went to one of the casual restaurants that faces the ocean and is on the sand, so you can dine barefoot.

We had some delicious wheaty bread:

Share a tuna cobb salad with no cheese:

I munched the Ahi tuna, which came with a papaya and pineapple salsa and bok choy:

The pilot chose the tempura sea bass and asparagus:

It was pretty glorious, and a sweet deal is that the resort is all-inclusive so we don’t see a bill for our eats and drinks while we’re here. (I’ll tell ya’ll where we’re staying on Tuesday)

We laid in a hammock: (where I could very easily spend the rest of the week)

(My feet are the ones on the right, heh heh)

Did the late-night swim thang:

And the resort had a lovely 10pm CHOCOLATE BUFFET and wine tasting. This was definitely a moment where I was like, “Where am I??? These people want to give me chocolate and wine at 10pm?? Whoever decided to do this is a genius… that’s all I have to say.”

The pilot and I shared these little plates of joy:

chocolate

and it was foodgasmic. Our favorites were the fudgy brownies with raspberry on top and the chocolate and marzipan with macadamia nuts on top. YUM.

We came back and called it a pretty early night since we were tired from traveling.

The plan for the day is:

– Insanity (Core Cardio and Balance)

– Breakfast

– Beach/Pool

– The Art of Shell Painting (for real! haha)

– Bahamian Line Dancing (yeahhhhh)

– Weights

– Fancy Schmancy Dinner

See ya later today with some pics <3

  5. Jordana on May 12, 2010 at 9:47 am

Looks like so much fun for you!! My husband and I went to Lake Tahoe for our honeymoon. It was awesome because we are native Floridians and it was neat to go somewhere other than the beach. We are actually thinking about going back next month for our 5 year! Have fun and watch out for Sharkies!

  6. Jessica @ How Sweet on May 12, 2010 at 9:48 am

Aw! Happy honeymoon! We actually went to Vegas for ours. 🙂 Enjoy!

  7. liz on May 12, 2010 at 9:49 am

For the shape up – maybe a combo of at home, at gym, and even outside?
I just got back from my honeymoon in Spain on Saturday (so sad it’s over). Have an amazing time!

  8. Lindsey (silly runner) on May 12, 2010 at 9:49 am

We’d love to go to Italy! We’ve been planning our honeymoon before we even plan the wedding. It’s fun to dream about getting away for a while and we’d love all the good food and wine in Italy.

Hope you have a great time!

  9. Jenna on May 12, 2010 at 9:49 am

Awww, how amazing Gina! I am so happy for you two right now. Live it up and have a blast. 🙂

  10. Daisy on May 12, 2010 at 9:49 am

We honeymoooned in Napa Valley and it was glorious! Wine, bubbly, good food and a very “adult” atmosphere.

  11. Joy on May 12, 2010 at 9:49 am

How fun! Happy honeymoon! I hope you and pilot have a great time.

  12. katherine on May 12, 2010 at 9:50 am

Happy Honeymoon!! Sounds like you’re going to have a BLAST! We went to Santorini, Greece for 10 days on our honeymoon. I was actually just rereading the journal I kept while we were there and now I’m dying to go back. There’s really nothing better than spending some time with your beloved away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Enjoy!

  13. Runeatrepeat on May 12, 2010 at 9:52 am

Love it! Congratulations on your honeymoon 🙂 The food looks fabulous!

  14. bobbileigh on May 12, 2010 at 9:52 am

I am glad you said you would tell us on Tuesday as I was going to ask because we are currently trying to decide where we want to go and we know we want somewhere in the bahamas or hawaii. It looks amazing!

  15. Lauren on May 12, 2010 at 9:53 am

This looks amazing.I can’t wait to find out where you are staying. I’m getting married next April and we’re scouting HM destinations. We’re totally looking for all-inclusive!

  16. Stepfanie on May 12, 2010 at 9:54 am

I’m so happy for you two. Enjoy your honeymoon, Gina! I am right with you on the doggy paddling. I can swim enough to save my life, but that’s about it!
My boyfriend and I are talking marriage–mostly honeymoon. We want to hike the Inca Trail and tour wine country in Argentina. Enjoy the Bahamas. I’ve never been there!

  17. Ali on May 12, 2010 at 9:55 am

We went to California for a week followed by a weeklong Mexican cruise…it was AWESOME. Because of the Army we haven’t spent that much time together since high school! (Funny: My husband won’t say it but I know he is baffled that after our week of Cali beaches and then cruise – my favorite part, the day I talk about at least once a week, was our day at Disney:-)

  18. Kara @ Kara's Marathon on May 12, 2010 at 9:59 am

Happy honeymooning!! We went to Disney World for four days after our wedding, but our plan has always been to do a “real” honeymoon once the husband finishes his Ph.D. program. He defends his dissertation this July, and we’re heading to Hawaii in late August/early September!! 😀

    • Lindsay on May 12, 2010 at 10:22 am

We did the same thing- 4 Days at Disney it was great though! We just did a second honeymoon the same week a year later (last september).

  19. Ashley on May 12, 2010 at 9:59 am

So exciting that you finally got to go on your honeymoon. It’s FREEEZING in NY so I’m very jealous you are at the beach. I would love to go to Bora Bora, Tahati or The Maldives for my honeymoon!

  20. Nicole @ Making Good Choices on May 12, 2010 at 10:01 am

We went to nevis for our honey moon on the off season. We stayed at the four seasons which was basically empty. It was incredible! I always love at home workouts for your shape ups 🙂

  21. kirsten on May 12, 2010 at 10:01 am

Oooh, you should do a whole wedding post! I would love to see pics of you as a bride! 🙂

my honeymoon is going to be in October (I got married in February) I cannot wait!

  22. Maura on May 12, 2010 at 10:03 am

Ohmygosh, Gina! I’m so jealous. That looks great. Hope you are having a fabulous time. As for the summer shape up, I’d love to see a variety of gym, at home/outside workouts. I can get bored easily so I like to switch it up during the week. I’m looking forward to the Summer Shape Up!! Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

  23. LindsayK on May 12, 2010 at 10:07 am

We’re actually leaving for our honeymoon right after our wedding in 17 days! We’re going to Turkey, so excited!

  25. Katie H. on May 12, 2010 at 10:14 am

Happy honeymoon! You two are too cute. My husband and I went to Kauai for our honeymoon last month and it was amazing. Hiking, scuba diving & beaching it up… it doesn’t get much better! Have fun girl 🙂

  26. Christi on May 12, 2010 at 10:15 am

How fun!! My husband and me will be married six years in September and have never had our honeymoon either. I’m hoping to have one before our 10 year anniversary! Hahaha!! I am so happy that you’re enjoying your honeymoon and I can just see how in love you guys are. So sweet!! Have fun!!!

    bon voyage!

  28. Lindsay on May 12, 2010 at 10:21 am

Enjoy your honeymoon! The Bahamas are beautiful! My husband I went on honeymoon 3 months after our wedding – we went to Disney World and had the most amazing time. We had planned it all so that we did a Disney Honeymoon gift registry and it was great because we got this honeymoon bag and our friends could give us gifts towards our honeymoon. Disney really was the most magical place for a honeymoon and we were treated to a number of free glasses of champagne and vegan desserts. The only down fall to our honeymoon is that we could only afford to go for 4 days (we had just moved and I was just getting into the working world after graduating from university) so we took a second honeymoon last September – a 6 day cruise to Jamaica, Key West and the Cayman Islands.

Hope you have an amazing trip!

  29. Kirby on May 12, 2010 at 10:22 am

Awww enjoy your honeymoon! So cute. We were supposed to go to Mexico for our honeymoon but swine flu scared us away, so we went to Key West instead and absolutely LOVED it. I’d go back in a heartbeat.

For summer shapeup, you should do a mix of at-home and outdoor workouts! Who wants to be in a gym in the summer??

  30. Kim @ Eat and Be on May 12, 2010 at 10:23 am

    Enjoy your honeymoon. Looks fantastic!
We went to Italy…with my parents and sister for our honeymoon. ha! It was actually really fun to be with family as we live far away from them so we have lots of “couple” time at home.

i would love to see some at-home workouts in your upcoming workout planning.

    thanks!

  31. Sana on May 12, 2010 at 10:25 am

Better late then neverr!!! Have a BLAST!

  32. Andrea (Sweet N Green) on May 12, 2010 at 10:26 am

Wow, so beautiful! Love the wine and chocolates too..looks delicious.

I’m excited for the summer shape up! I’d love to see some workout moves that I’d be able to do anywhere, work or home. Maybe some body weight routines? Whatever you decide, Can’t wait!

Have fun on the rest of your vacay!! So glad you got to take us all with you 😉

  33. Beth @ Beth's Journey to Thin on May 12, 2010 at 10:30 am

Looks amazing!! And you are definitely right – – better late than never!!

  34. Lisa on May 12, 2010 at 10:30 am

    Congrats on your honeymoon!

I think at-home workouts would be best because it’s the summer…I hate being stuck in a gym when it’s sunny outside. At-home workouts you can do in your backyard in the sun :-).

  35. Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman on May 12, 2010 at 10:32 am

Gorgeous! A belated honeymoon is better than none! We went to Anguilla and it was awesome!

  36. Therese on May 12, 2010 at 10:34 am

Awww! Congrats on finally getting your honeymoon!!! That resort looks amazing!!!

I’m not married but I’ve always wanted to go to Fiji for my honeymoon. Years ago I saw a photo of a boat floating on what looked like NOTHING because the water was so clear and I immediately had to know where this photo was taken. It was Fiji and I’ve wanted to go there ever since! 🙂

  37. RhodeyGirl on May 12, 2010 at 10:34 am

AWWWWWW! I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU GUYS TO FINALLY HAVE YOUR HONEYMOON!!!!! The water looks fabulous! Enjoy your time there!

    P.S. Love the sandals!

  38. Heather (Heather's Dish) on May 12, 2010 at 10:35 am

oh man, you guys are going to have the BEST time! our honeymoon was on Maui, and we were 99% certain we were going to sell our return tickets and just live there. can’t wait to see more of the trip 🙂

  42. kara on May 12, 2010 at 10:37 am

We went to the Bahamas on our honeymoon too!!! And from the looks of your pictures, we stayed at the same place! Enjoy, we did!

  43. jenny on May 12, 2010 at 10:40 am

we went to italy for our honeymoon… amalfi coast and tuscany for two weeks. ahhhmazing… for a workout, since summer involves lots of travel a home-slash-outdoor shape up would be *baller*!! enjoy every second of your honeymoon!

  44. Courtney (Pancakes & Postcards) on May 12, 2010 at 10:41 am

That´s amazing! I want my honeymoon to be somewhere I have never been before, somewhere where we can do the beautiful beach thing AND crazy outdoor stuff like trekking or rock climbing or hiking. Maybe Indonesia! I would have said Thailand but I just booked a flight there so I will want to do something different 🙂

  45. Jess - The Domestic Vegan on May 12, 2010 at 10:44 am

Wow!!! What a fabulous vacation. Enjoy it!

  46. Amanda on May 12, 2010 at 10:44 am

Have a great rest of your trip!!

I have never participated in any of your shape up series, but am interested this time around!! After my half-marathon at the end of May, I’d love to get into some strength training/toning workouts. I think it’d be really great to just have a write up of those (i.e., lunges/abs/arms) and then some freedom on the cardio side (insert 45 mins of chosen cardio here). Like you’ve said before, I’m a cardio queen, but when it comes to strength, I’m semi-clueless (and sick of the Jillian Michaels dvd!!)

  47. Kelly on May 12, 2010 at 10:46 am

Aww yay for finally going on your honeymooon!! I want to go somewhere tropical, like Hawaii or a Mediterranean cruise or something.

  48. Erin (Travel, Eat, Repeat) on May 12, 2010 at 10:48 am

Wow, looks like you are truly in paradise!

  49. Colleen on May 12, 2010 at 10:48 am

Make sure you tell the staff you’re on your honeymoon – sometimes they’ll throw in some fun UPGRADES!! 🙂

We went to Myrtle Beach for our honeymoon :\…we were poor college students. It was fun though, and I slept like a dream the whole time, I guess wedding planning was more exhausting than I thought! I have a feeling we’ll take a much better honeymoon next year after I finish school! Six years isn’t too late, is it? LOL

  50. Malorie on May 12, 2010 at 10:48 am

My husband and I went to the Bahamas for our honeymoon too! We stayed at the Sandals resort in Nassau. It was amazing! I hope you having a great time!
