Welcome Back, Warrior

Hi guys! How are you? Happy INDIAN FOOD WEDNESDAY! Who’s celebrating? 🙂

Sorry that the blog was MIA this morning. She was feeling a little grouchy and anti-social, but she’s back now 😉

Guess what else is back??

sun warrior

 Sun Warrior!! My protein lovahhhhh.

I’ve been out for about two weeks and let me tell ya, it was a loooooong two weeks 🙂

I may have ripped open the package, danced around in happiness and enveloped my pack of protein in a sweet embrace.

sun warrior (2)

Hahah.

(I wonder what Bella is thinking in that picture.. she judges me)

This morning’s bfast was a twist on the old fave.

cookie cereal

Bfast cookie dough cereal!

I made a bfast cookie, sans the smashed banana, and added extra milk, goji berries and 1/2 sliced banana. It was like eating cookie dough cereal! Loved the crunch from the cacao nibs and goji berries, too.

Bootcamp was pretty fun today- lots of arm work, cardio blasts and running.

Snack:

Fruit and peppermint tea

fruit

Millet + AB and apricot preserves

millet

The plan for the day:

-Work on an article and newsletter thingamabob

-Petsmart (for a backseat hammock so Vieserton’s fur doesn’t get everywhere… she hasn’t been in the new car yet)

-Making pizza (my first brush with EGG PIZZA—BBQ chicken pizza for the pilot)

-TurboFire

-Back to work!

See ya later this afternoon with a reader’s request post on healthy drink options 🙂

xoxo,

Gina

Hahaha is that a self timer photo? Love it!! Bella’s got some glowing eyes there too.

    • Fitnessista on July 14, 2010 at 12:52 pm

yes and it took about 10 tried before it worked, haha

  3. Nicole @ Geek Turned Athlete on July 14, 2010 at 12:44 pm

You are so funny with your protein! Mine is traveling across the ocean now with our household goods. I’m trying to wait patiently, but it is getting hard. Since we haven’t officially signed for our house yet, I have no address to order more! Being stuck in limbo with no gluten free protein powder is no fun! I hear you!

  4. Lynette on July 14, 2010 at 12:45 pm

I have tried the egg pizza recipe shown in Oxygen magazine. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t all that good either. Basically egg whites with unsalted tomato sauce, ricotta cheese and pizza seasoning.

  5. Anne @ Your Kind o Salad on July 14, 2010 at 12:45 pm

I love a white pizza (no red sauce) topped with sauteed spinach, shaved parmesan and an egg; you will love it! Enjoy!

  6. Marilou @ Mostly Healthy on July 14, 2010 at 12:45 pm

Egg pizza? Emm no. I had pizza with an egg based crust but to put actual egg on it … Wait? Isn’t it the same?? haha

I love a FULL veggie pizza. Nothing grosses me out more than pepperonni 🙁

  7. Bianca @ Confessions of a Chocoholic on July 14, 2010 at 12:45 pm

Egg pizza with shaved asparagus, parmesan or pecorino cheese, and truffle oil = yum!

  8. Michelle on July 14, 2010 at 12:46 pm

Egg does not belong on a pizza.
    There I said it.
    But…
The new oxygen mag has an egg pizza recipe. The egg white is the “crust”. I made it but added 1/2 cup oats, italian seasoning, chives, onion and took it for a ride in the magic bullt. I wanted to spice it up and make it less egg-y (not my fav flavo). It was pretty good!

  9. allison @ livingoneday on July 14, 2010 at 12:48 pm

love the photo!! and i love cracked eggs on pizza!! must have spinach or broccoli and cheese. no sauce 🙂

  10. A Teenage Gourmet on July 14, 2010 at 12:48 pm

    1) I made your chocolate cherry bomb protein ice cream — amazingness!! (I don’t have/ use protein powder though. I’m thinking about changing that)

    2) Indian food <33

    3) I have made egg pizza myself. Egg & bacon pizza . . . It was the best pizza I've ever eaten. (Go to Eggs On Sunday, it's a blog, for the recipe)

    4) I have a Barney Butter giveaway on my blog today if you're interested! 🙂

  11. Carrie on July 14, 2010 at 12:52 pm

EGG pizza? You have my attention.

  12. Ilana on July 14, 2010 at 12:53 pm

haha I’m having a very Gina-esque day today … I got my shipment of Sun Warrior the other day and although I havent broken into it yet (protein powder kiiiiindaaaaa freaks me out) I’m contemplating what kinda protein shake I want to make for after my first ZUMBA class 🙂 i think I need an “I’m a Fitnessista” tshirt haha

I have no clue what egg pizza is?? guess I should read some of the comments. is it pizza using egg as the crust, or is it pizza with eggs on top?? or in the crust? sounds good either way

    • Fitnessista on July 14, 2010 at 3:35 pm

sounds like an AMAZING day 🙂

  13. Jessica @ How Sweet on July 14, 2010 at 12:53 pm

I have had fried eggs ON pizza – it is really delicious!

  14. Courtney @ Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life on July 14, 2010 at 12:54 pm

I’ve had breakfast pizza, if that counts?
My favorite pizza is made on the GRILL with tomato slices, fresh basil, mozzarella, & roasted veggies. YUM! 😛

  15. Laura on July 14, 2010 at 1:14 pm

hahahhaha! That pic made my day 🙂 lol. Question- have you ever tried the chocolate sunwarrior? I looove the vanilla, but I was wondering how the chocolate is? 😀

    • Fitnessista on July 14, 2010 at 1:19 pm

i’ve never tried the chocolate because i figure if i want a chocolate smoothie, i’ll add a scoop of raw cacao powder to the vanilla

  16. Kelsey (Nourishing Noshes) on July 14, 2010 at 1:18 pm

I’ve heard such great things about SunWarrior Protein powder! I like how its vegan! Does it mix well? Is it reasonably priced?

And since I’ve become vegan I cant remember the last time I had pizza! I’ve been dying to find a restaurant near me that serves Vegan Pizza! I think it would be fun to try.

    • Fitnessista on July 14, 2010 at 1:19 pm

it mixes beautifully, but is expensive. worth every penny in my opinion though 😉

  17. Lauren @ BIOCHEMISTA on July 14, 2010 at 1:21 pm

Ahhh! I can’t WAIT for my SunWarrior to arrive!!! I’ve been checking the mail everyday!!! 🙂

I have a really good skinny margarita recipe if you want it 🙂

That is an AWESOME Action Shot of you! Either the Pilot has a great trigger finger or you are super skilled w/ your self timer. I dont use mine…I am jealz of that pic. Plus my sony camera (don’t have a DSLR) isn’t that quick on the trigger…I always miss the shot by like 1/10th of a second. Anyway girl, glad you got your protein on 🙂

    xo

Yay, your blog is back 😀

I’ve never had egg pizza, but would be willing to try it out.

  20. Ana on July 14, 2010 at 1:31 pm

I just started reading your blog and I adore it (and you, of course 🙂 I was wondering if sometime you could do a post on toning thighs? I saw your awesome glute post, and know you’d help me out tons. As an ex-soccer layer with muscular thighs, I’m looking for advice on especially toning the outer/inner muscles to look leaner. Sometimes it’s so hard to find pants that fit right!

    Thanks!

  21. Paige (Running Around Normal) on July 14, 2010 at 1:32 pm

That picture is hilarious! LOL Love that you mentioned it took you like 10 times. I can totally see myself doing the same thing.
I’m not sure I’ve even heard of egg pizza??

  22. Carrie on July 14, 2010 at 1:38 pm

I made Egg pizza with egg whites as the base, topped with 1/4 cup smashed white beans, topped that with tomato slices and mozzerella cheese and basil. pop under broiler until bubbly. it was delish!!! My fiance also like it and requested one for a snack 🙂

That picture of you and the protein powder is AWESOME. I don’t think I could jump that high! lol

I’ve never had egg pizza but it sounds intriguing. My favorite pizza is just plain old sausage but it has to be from Vito and Nicks. You probably don’t know what Vito and Nicks is (may be a local thing) but their pizza is so thin and crisp it’s like eating potato chips.

  25. Katie on July 14, 2010 at 2:01 pm

I noticed your peppermint tea looks a little creamy. Do you mix something in it? I’ve heard vanilla creamer is really good with peppermint tea, wasn’t sure if you had tried anything different with it. I love it plain, but would love to try it other ways.

    • Fitnessista on July 14, 2010 at 3:34 pm

i just put a little almond milk and stevia 🙂

  26. Jessica @ Rawtumn on July 14, 2010 at 2:02 pm

Yay for protein powder!! =P I’ve never had egg pizza before but I’m excited to see what you come up with! I honestly just like plain ole cheese pizza best, lots of sauce and a little bit of cheese though! I think most would have it the other way around. lol

  27. Mia on July 14, 2010 at 2:03 pm

Mmmmm! I love egg on my pizza! My last one involved a whole wheat/flax crust (homemade) topped with a schmear of roasted garlic, caramelized onions, sauteed spinach, then an egg. After the pizza comes out of the oven I like to finish it off with a bit of fresh grated Parmesan cheese (the real stuff you can buy at W-paycheck!), cracked black pepper and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for some spiciness! So good!

I think goat cheese or sauteed baby mushrooms like cremini, shitake, or portabello would be nice too.

  28. Allison @ Food For Healing on July 14, 2010 at 2:27 pm

i love a plain ol’ vegetarian pizza with green peppers, mushrooms, onions and fresh tomato on top. can never go wrong! Definitely haven’t tried it with egg though

  29. Naomi (onefitfoodie) on July 14, 2010 at 2:28 pm

    egg pizza…I am intrigued!

  30. Alycia @ Fit n Fresh on July 14, 2010 at 2:35 pm

Love that pic of you with your sun warrior! lol too cute! And I’ve never had an egg pizza before? I’m intrigued. Can’t wait to see how yours turns out! (:

  31. Megan (Braise The Roof) on July 14, 2010 at 2:53 pm

I have mixed emotions about egg pizza. I’m not a huge fan of super runny yolks, so I’ve never felt compelled to order that option at a pizza place. I’m impressed that you’re making two different kinds of pizza- that’s some motivation you’ve got, girl!

  32. Anya @ Fitness & Sunshine on July 14, 2010 at 3:31 pm

Hmm I’ve never had egg pizza but I LOVE pizza! 🙂 I like it especially with whole wheat crust, artichokes, spinach, and onions. Yum yum!

  33. Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman on July 14, 2010 at 3:32 pm

No egg pizza for me. I have a weird thing with eggs and can only eat them certain ways or else I get nauseous just thinking about them. (No, I’m not pregnant.) My favorite pizza is nice and simple: tomato, mozzarella, basil. Wood fired = even better!

  34. Katie on July 14, 2010 at 3:34 pm

I just got my Sunwarrior a few days ago-love it! It mixes really well and isn’t chalky. Thanks for the Opensky promotion!

  35. Emily (A Nutritionist Eats) on July 14, 2010 at 3:37 pm

Hmmm, I love eggs on pizza! I made a duck confit pizza with arugula, egg and parm (it is a good pizza to have some greens on)that was amazing – I know you don’t do duck but still 🙂

That picture of you with the sun warrior literally made me bust out laughing. You’re like a child on christmas morning!! I’ve never had egg pizza but I looooove eggies, so maybe I should try it? I love pizzas with lots of veggies and goat cheese. Mmmmm goat cheese. I’m much more an extra sauce and little cheese person. I love pizza sauce!! I also really like pineapple on pizzas.

    • Fitnessista on July 14, 2010 at 7:20 pm

I’m a day late with this comment on yesterday’s blog: The Bistro may not have good food but they have good taste in art. The art you ridiculed was by Marc Chagall. You might want to look him up on Wikipedia so you don’t embarrass yourself again.

    • breakingsilence @ Freshman -15 on July 14, 2010 at 6:44 pm

      Um, harsh much?

Never had an egg pizza, but it sounds interesting. I’ll have to try it sometime.

Slightly off- topic- any possibility of selling Mung Bean Pasta on your OpenSky store? Can’t find it in my Whole Foods so far and would really like to try it.

  45. Ellen@FirednFabulous on July 14, 2010 at 6:54 pm

That mid-air shot is PERFECT! How the heck did you do that and why is your hair always so darn shiny?! (hehe, don’t be scared, I’m just jealous.) I’ve never had egg pizza myself, but I’ve seen it on other blogs, and it always looks good. Onions and mushrooms are my go-to toppings, and sausage when I feel like an extra treat!

  46. fittingbackin on July 14, 2010 at 7:35 pm

I’ve had pizza with eggs on top – is that the same?!

LOVE the pic of you in mid-air – fabulous, so glad you got your goods!

My favorite pizza is probably tomato and mushroom with lots of basil and mozzarella!

  47. Jessica on July 14, 2010 at 7:51 pm

What’s a back seat hammock??? I try and take my boxer with me in the back seat of my beemer and well its never good. Hair goes everywhere (like you said)…maybe I need what you are getting? Lemme know whatcha find! 🙂 Thanks!

    • Fitnessista on July 14, 2010 at 9:19 pm

it’s from petsmart and it covers the entire backseat and back of the seats. it was 69.99 but it will keep viesa’s nails from puncturing the leather 🙂
