Wild Goose Chase

Hi guys! How are ya? Hope the rest of your weekend was lovely and your week is off to a great start 🙂

I’m blogging from the pilot’s new laptop:

pilots laptop

We took Pinkie to get fixed and since the pilot’s laptop was on the fritz, we decided to get him a new one instead of getting his laptop fixed as well. I kind of like it and LOVE the classy maroon color- matches our TV exactly!

After spending two hours of our lives at Best Bizzle, we came back to the casa for dinner and Next Food Network Star (Team Aarti!)

The pilot had Atlanta Bread Company and I had a smoked salmon eggstada:

salmon

-3 egg whites

-smoked salmon

-dill from the garden

-gout gouda

Dessert was a shared bar of Green & Black dark chocolate 🙂

This morning, I was in a crepe-y kinda mood.

crepes

I *tried* adding protein to the original recipe and I have to say, it’s better without. If it ain’t broke….

I also had a side of insanity when I went to blog and my memory card wouldn’t fit in the new computer. I thought Sony and Samsung were friends? Apparently not. So I went on a wild good chase, with bedhead and sweats all over Valdosta until I found THIS, 3 stores and many phone calls later.

memory reader

A memory card reader. Sahweet!

The plan for the day:

-Winsor Pilates in the yoga room (my muscles are tiiiiight)

-Write

-Lunch + blog

-TURBOFIRE Fire 45 + Stretch 10

-Training two new clients

-Romantic din-din with the seksi pilot

Have a wonderful day!!

xoxo,

G

Something to talk about: What workout do you get really excited about doing?? Right now, I am loving TurboFire. I’m so stoked about every workout, especially because it feels like I’m actually taking a group fitness class. I really miss taking huge classes with 50 people screaming and having a blast, and TurboFire is doing an excellent job of filling the void. It’s also exciting because I’m doing something totally different- I’ve never really been into kickboxing before, so it’s been a fun challenge 🙂

Something else to talk about: Reader’s Requests! If there’s a topic you’d like to see on the bloggy this week, please hit me up in the comments <3

Ahhh I’m in the market for a new laptop! Mine kicked the bucket, RIP 🙁 I think I’m making the switch to the Mac world this time. My sister has one that I use frequently and lurve it.

Hmm…reader recommendations? This may not need an entire post but I always forget *something* when I pack my gym bag, maybe you could share what you pack especially if you’re going from gym to work? Also, do you have any recommendations for gym bag Brands? I desperately need a new one and would like something functional AND stylish this time that doesn’t scream “I’m going to the gym!” HAHA.

Have a great day Gina! And enjoy your date night 🙂 🙂

I get really excited about lifting back and triceps! It is my favorite. Also love some plyos and functional work – it’s more of a love/hate relationship. 🙂

Happy Monday! Glad you got the computer situation under control. Lately I’ve been excited about Pilates workouts because I notice results nearly instantly and I’m sore after every class!

A maroon computer! How fun! 🙂 This is lame, but I look forward to the workout I get at work (teaching aerobics) because I get in a great workout while encouraging and pushing other women to do the same! And it’s a way to be creative, always doing new moves and trying new things that kick their boo-tays.

  9. Heidi on July 12, 2010 at 10:26 am

I’m with you on team Aarti! She is, by far, my favorite. I could listen to her talk for hours.
I really love the BodyPump class at my gym. I feel so empowered after them!

I would love more tips for breakfast and Lunch. I know you post a ton of stuff on here but I am not a fan of the breakfast cookie or overnight oats (I KNOW, I KNOW and I call myself a loyal reader! lol ). Is there something I am missing? Also, how important is it to get vegies in at breakfast?

  12. Amy @ EdibleAmy on July 12, 2010 at 10:34 am

    • Katie @ Healthy Heddleston on July 12, 2010 at 11:24 am

I finally got a memory card reader once I lost my cord. After calling the camera company we thought there had to be a better idea to solve my problem — viola the memory card reader!!!

  22. Ashley on July 12, 2010 at 10:55 am

Maybe a reader request post topic could be about ‘Drinks’. What are some good healthy drinks to drink besides water. Also, what some drinks really mean when it says low/no calorie. We probably think they are healthy but in reality they aren’t. I love Hansen’s: they contain no artificial colors or flavors, no sodium, no caffeine, and no preservatives, and are gluten and dairy free. But am I missing something? Is this good for me? I get a little weird when I see these sorts of drinks. Not really sure if it something I could be drinking. So maybe you could post some suggestions of drinks out there that are okay to drink.

    • Fitnessista on July 12, 2010 at 10:57 am

that’s a GREAT idea for a post! thank you 🙂

    • Krystina on July 12, 2010 at 11:39 am

I used to drink Hansen’s until I realized that the diet kind was sweetened with Splenda. As a rule, I don’t consciously consume aspartame, so if you are iffy about it and drink the Hansen’s diet then then that’s something to consider.

  23. Charlotte on July 12, 2010 at 10:57 am

It’s my absolute pet peeve that from chargers, to cables, to cards, so many electronics are not compatible – it’s just a ploy to get product loyalty!

Which workout do I get psyched to do? Rollerblading! I recently purchased a pair and it’s SO much harder to keep balance than it was when I was younger, so just scooting around the neighborhood, looking silly and trying to keep my balance is a good way to keep me from taking my workouts too seriously and just have fun with them. Plus, falling is quite the humbling experience!

  24. Liz @ Tip Top Shape on July 12, 2010 at 10:57 am

I know I mentioned this in comments before but I LOVE my “So You Think You Can Dance” DVD. It still is a great workout once you’ve learned the routines (some dance dvds aren’t) and everyone is just so fun in it! I don’t know if you watch the show but the people are so energetic and it makes for a great time. So..yeah, I definitely look forward to doing that 😀

  25. Hanna on July 12, 2010 at 11:06 am

I have a reader’s request (or two)! I noticed a lot of people stay away from soy…I know this probably has a lot to do with all the GMO business, but it was be cool to see a post all about soy (why some people don’t eat it, all the goods and bads of soy, that kind of stuff!)
Also – uses for nutritional yeast! I’d love to see other people’s ideas : )

    • Heather on July 12, 2010 at 11:12 am

I love blending up some nuts or seeds with a little mustard, red bell pepper, jalapeno, nutritional yeast, sea salt and water to make a “cheesy” sauce and put it on beans, dip raw veggies in, or on kale salad 🙂

    • Chantal on July 12, 2010 at 1:11 pm

If you don’t mind my five cents about the soy issue: I think of a lot of the “problems” with soy is exactly what you said: GMOs. Because everything about them hasn’t been discovered/proven yet, they’re increasingly finding all sorts of weird side-effects and warnings. However, organic soy would definitely be the way to go for all your soymilk/tofu needs! Considering how long and healthy most asians on a “traditional” diet live (and they do live off of tofu, my 90 year old grandmother is my prime example), would indicate that a good source of soy can work wonders 🙂

      • Fitnessista on July 12, 2010 at 2:31 pm

i totally agree. the major prob i have with soy are the processed soy foods. a little organic tofu or edamame is no biggie 🙂

I’ve been looking at the exact same laptop so I’m glad the Pilot loves it! Also, TEAM AARTI! She is sooo adorable.

I want to try Turbo Fire so bad – what are your favorite things about it? I would love to see some workout videos made by you this week – your workouts are awesome and I love video! 🙂

  28. Alyssa @ bride to be fit on July 12, 2010 at 11:13 am

I’ve become Bootcamp obsessed recently! My day doesn’t feel complete without it! 🙂

  29. Amara on July 12, 2010 at 11:25 am

Love my kickboxing classes –but then the teacher is great, and we’ve got a huge great group! I’d love to see more stuff on figuring out maintenance weight. Specifically if when you add calories back in slowly (after getting to your goal), how slowly you go, if macros make a difference, weights vs. cardio for maintenance, etc. I wonder if the research is really out there, but whatever you can find would be great.

  30. Erica on July 12, 2010 at 11:32 am

Hey girl! Love the laptop- new toys are always fun. Aarti is my favorite too. I hope she wins- just adorable. Glad you’re loving the turbo

  31. Shannon on July 12, 2010 at 11:35 am

I rarely comment, but I’d love it if you could do a reader’s request post on juicing. What combinations of fruit/veggies you prefer and about the health benefits. Also, what kind of juicer you use or do you use the Vitamixalicious? I see someone else requested one on drinks, so I suppose it *sorta* fits along those lines.

  32. Krystina on July 12, 2010 at 11:35 am

I get excited over doing Hatha yoga. I try not to do it too often because it’s not much of a “work out” in terms of getting my heart rate up, but I feel SO good after doing it.

    I’m team Aarti too!

  33. Bianca on July 12, 2010 at 11:36 am

I would love some more pictures of the correct form of your strength training routines.

  35. Michelle on July 12, 2010 at 11:55 am

I so want to try TurboFire! Right now, I get excited about running and your Summer Shapeup workouts, I love how every week is different!

I like the idea of a post about how much is too much working out.

  36. Jamie on July 12, 2010 at 11:57 am

i would like to read more about how you figured out how much you should be eating — you mentioned that you slowly had to add back in calories to your diet, and I would love to know more about how to go about this

  37. Kelsey (Nourishing Noshes) on July 12, 2010 at 12:02 pm

I’m currently loving lifting weights. I bought some of Jillian’s DVDs awhile ago and they have made a reappearance in my workout routine and I’m loving it!
I have a question about TurboFire-is it mostly cardio? I’ve done the Insanity DVDs and thought they were pretty good but for some reason I had a hard time staying motivated to do them. I’ve been slacking on cardio and am looking for some new inspiration.

    • Fitnessista on July 12, 2010 at 12:05 pm

      yup its mostly cardio 🙂

  38. Anya @ Fitness & Sunshine on July 12, 2010 at 12:03 pm

I love the customizeable routines from WH Big Book of Exercises right now. 🙂

Also, I’ve made you crepe recipe before, it was delicious! I tried making crepes also with a little flour, egg whites, and protein powder and it actually worked out great. I did use a lot more whites though.

    • Dynamics on July 12, 2010 at 1:46 pm

I love, love, love the Big Book of Exercises. It is an amazing book and also a great book for beginners. There are pictures of each exercise. The cost is low which makes it affordable for most anyone. They have a woman’s version and man’s version.

I *love* going to aerial dance class, it’s the highlight of my workouts. It’s absolutely amazing for arms and abs. I come out of every class feeling like I just went through a really hard pilates class, good times. 🙂

    • Fitnessista on July 12, 2010 at 2:30 pm

  47. nicole on July 12, 2010 at 1:26 pm

I was wondering if you could do a post on weight lifting/body building, guy style (ex- arms and chest one day and legs another). I was hoping you would share some thoughts on it and maybe create a generic schedule?

  48. Sarra H on July 12, 2010 at 1:32 pm

I’m sure this is the number one question you get but: how do you burn off fat? I know it sounds like a stupid question, but I have been working out consistently and watching everything I eat. And I do feel a lot fitter, but I feel like I’m just building muscle, getting bulkier, and the fat isn’t going anywhere! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

  49. Dynamics on July 12, 2010 at 1:48 pm

I just purchased a step. Any recommendations for a beginner DVD? Or someone who will choreograph a routine for me?

    • Fitnessista on July 12, 2010 at 2:29 pm

hmmm. do you have fittv?? sometimes they have amazing step routines on there

  50. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on July 12, 2010 at 1:54 pm

Love that Pilot got a new machine when you went shopping for YOU! haha! Scott does stuff like that…he hones in on my shopping experience LOL. Hey, at least you guys are set up in style now. Gotta love the card readers too.

I own zero workout dvd’s that are currently popular, insanity, p90x, turbofire, etc…if you had to pick or do a pros/cons of them, that’s a post I’d love to see 🙂
