IT’S SO FLUFFY!*

*If you’ve seen Despicable Me, which is a legendary film, then you’ll get the title reference ;)

Hi guys! How’s your day going? Mine has been pretty bueno. I accidentally deleted this post once, so this is round number two….

I went to the gym for an easy cardio sesh with new SELF mag and then munched this goat’s milk yogurt.

goat yogurt

I’ve been hankering for yogurt lately, so I was STOKED when I saw this at Whole Paycheck.

The verdict:

It was AWESOME. So creamy and not overly sweet. It was perfect.

Next, I made the vegan almond butter cookies for the giveaway winner.

Dough:

dough

Hefty cookies (each one is bigger than my hand!)

cookie

I couldn’t help but think “IT’S SO FLUFFY I COULD DIE!!!” :)

Of course, I tested one for quality assurance and moaned in foodgasmic ecstasy.

I actually haven’t heard back from the giveaway winner, so if I don’t hear anything by tonight, I’ll announce a new winner this evening.

Snackage:

green smoothie

Green-a-colada Smoothie

Serves one hungry Fitnessista

-1.5 C almond milk

-1/2 banana (use a whole banana if you want a thicker texture)

-1 C frozen organic pineapple

-1 scoop vanilla Sun Warrior

-handful of spinach

-1/8 C unsweetened shredded coconut + more for ganish

-1 t vanilla

-pinch sea salt

1. Blend all of the ingredients in the Vitamix on high for 1 minute.

2. Grab a glass straw, sip away and imagine yourself on a tropical island.

To be honest, I kinda feel like a truck hit me right now. My 5:15 appointment re-scheduled, so I’m going to take a little nap before heading back to work, and possibly purchase these shoes.

Vibram-Five-Fingers-Womens-kso-Gray-Pink Source

Not because I’m going to start running again, but because I think they’d be fun to wear around the gym ;) Does anyone else have Vibrams? Do you like them?

After work, I’m meeting some of the girls for dinner <3

See ya tonight!

G

******Happy Birthday to my beautiful, amazing Nana (I love you, friend) and to Tinkerbell (one of my clients) :)

I think those shoes are goofy. I saw someone in ‘em and thought they looked like rubber toe socks. Honestly though, I can imagine them being way too comfy to turn down. So go for it! Write a review? haha :)

I think Lindsay (Happy Herbivore) has these and wears them for non-running purposes as well. You should ask her, but I think she likes them!

I’ve heard they are amazingly comfortable. HOWEVER (big however!), a guy I used to work with at the gym had them, and when he took them off we all wanted to die! They don’t really breathe well and unless you buy toe socks, it’s hard to keep your feet dry, especially when you’re working at a gym on your feet all day. He actually had to take a little break from them and switch back to his running shoes because he thought they were growing a fungus in them! I have heard they’re comfy, and actually better for your feet because they keep your feet in a more natural position (?) (not sure if that’s the right word, but you get my drift), but OMG, they were gross after awhile. I just hope you’re prepared to scrub ‘em down every once in a while!

All you have to do is throw them in the washing machine and let them air dry :) . Super easy!

I love vibrams and have wanted them for months and months!!!!!! Alas they are always out of the size or color (or both) that i want:( To get my legs and feet use to running on a flatter surface, i only wear keds when i work out. They are nice and flat and the perfect in between shoe for anyone that wants to try it out without getting vibrams.
You definitely need to take it slow when you first switch. I went out and ran 5 miles in them and then spent all of my free time for the next week, laying on my bed with my legs on ice packs!!

I started studying the bio-mechanics behind them and it fascinated me. I bought a pair back in April in order to train for my first marathon in June. Ran Grandma’s Marathon (Duluth, MN) in them, ran the Twin Cities half-marathon two weeks later and loved them. I spent more time talking to other runners about them than I did focusing on my running. I’d love to share my experiences with them. I cannot give them a higher recommendation. All of my joint/stress issues went completely away. Take it REALLY slow when you start. First run, no more than a mile, no matter how good you feel.

My husband has a pair and loves them! The trick to keeping them from smelling- wash them in the washing machine which gets them clean but doesn’t always take the smell out. If they’re still stinky- put them in a gallon sized ziploc bag and put them in your freezer for 24-48 hours. Works like a charm! This also works for Keens and other non-porous soled shoes.

I just got a pair last week! As a runner I love the concept behind the shoes, but not to go onto barefoot running just to build and strengthen the muscles of the feet and legs. So far I like them, just have to learn to pick up my feet a bit more…..I’ve tripped a few times. =)

I wear my vibrams just around. Since I’m running collegiately I don’t want to experiment with the “barefoot” running until after i’m done competing. But I love just wearing them around because I hate shoes and my feet get to be in their “almost” natural state. Plus it’s good for the legs!

Love my vibrams! If you run in them they feel amazing, but build up slowly, went 3 miles my 2nd outing and got a stress fracture – 10 wks in a boot and running again in my reg running shoes. Hope to try again, but sloooowly!

So glad I found this recipe! I will definitely have to try it out. I made a makeshift Pina Colada
protein smoothie this weekend and it was missing something and I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. Maybe more pineapple and add some nanner? This is one of my fave things about blogging and the blog world – bloggy food creations and bloggy friends’ food creations! That and it is just supah fun! :) Thanks Gina!
