Sparkling Lemonade Iced Tea

Sparkling lemonade iced tea is a refreshing drink to cool off with as we head into these warmer months. It’s sweetened with Stevia, so you can enjoy a sweet drink without the sugar rush.

I had an amazing weekend with amazing people, and Iโ€™m also wicked sore from teaching on Saturday. My biceps are killing me! I guess thatโ€™s what two classes full of booty poppinโ€™ and crazy arm movements will do to ya.

Breakfast:

breakfast

Egg scramble with 2 eggs, chicken and salsa + a brown rice tortilla for pinching

Since last weekโ€™s lunch date with the Pilot at Create Cafe, Iโ€™ve had their sparkling Stevia lemonade on the brain.

Create Cafe stevia lemonade

It was SO refreshing, not the least bit bitter and tasted like summer in a glass. I guess I have another reason to go their more often…along with the crazy good sweet potato fries with curry aioli.

Sparkling Lemonade Iced Tea

Iโ€™ve been wanting to make a new summer drink for a while and thought it would be fun to add a little twist on Createโ€™s version by doing a tea lemonade.

Super refreshing and maybe a little caffeine buzz, plus a dose of antioxidants.

Hope you enjoy <3

Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 bags, tea of choice (I used ginger but black, green or fruity tea would be delicious, too. You want the tea to be STRONG since the sparkling water will dilute it)
  • 3 C hot water
  • Stevia to taste (or you can use honey if you prefer), optional
  • 12 oz sparkling lemon-flavored water (or less sweetener and lemon-flavored Stevia, which is what I did)
  • 3 lemons: 2 juiced, 1 sliced

Instructions

  1. Add the tea bags to the hot water.
  2. Sweeten with honey or Stevia to taste.
  3. Add lemon slices and lemon juice.
  4. Allow tea to steep for 15 minutes.
  5. Place in the fridge to chill overnight.
  6. Before serving, add the sparkling water and more sweetener if necessary.
  7. Drink out of a cute glass ๐Ÿ˜‰

ingredients

sparkling iced tea lemonade with stevia

(theyโ€™re called Babushkups and stack inside each other! I love them)

*This would also be lovely with some mint or berries mixed in

Looks like a new summer staple. When itโ€™s toasty out, I make sure to hydrate with lots of water โ€“ infused with berries and herbs is a fun way to switch it up – and I also love ice cold kombucha and eegeeโ€™s in the summer.

Have a great day and Iโ€™ll see ya later with my review of the advanced TurboFire DVDs ๐Ÿ™‚

xoxo

Gina

        • Fitnessista on May 14, 2012 at 12:38 pm

          • Jaime on May 14, 2012 at 1:09 pm

Do you sing it like the Olivia cartoon theme song? That’s what I do to myself every time I read about her on your blog!

I loveeee lemonade – thank you for this recipe! I hate ones that are loaded with sugar. I can also put in Starbucks’ passion tea bags with this to make my ultimate favourite summer drink, passion tea lemonade!

  7. jaclyn on May 14, 2012 at 12:25 pm

How much stevia do you use?

    • Fitnessista on May 14, 2012 at 12:28 pm

      i used maybe 4 servings? 1 serving is like 1/64 of a t, so 1/16 t?

  8. Julie @ Running and Riley on May 14, 2012 at 12:25 pm

Yummy! That tea looks delicious! Or rather, that Sparkling Arnold Palmer. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Love the quote at the bottom, so utterly true.

    LOVE the quote!!

That stevia lemonade looks wonderful! I could go for a glass right now. I’m trying for no caffeine all week so I need something else to drink, ๐Ÿ™‚

Can’t wait to read how the adv TurboFire DVDs are. I have the regular ones and am ready to try them out and see how they are.

    Looks like a great dirnk!

Yes- I LOVE that workout inspiration. So true. I’m travelling right now, and trying to get some good movement in- but am definitely missing normal workouts! It’s amazing how different your body feels, and how much less energy I have!

  13. Irina @ Chocolatea Time on May 14, 2012 at 12:36 pm

As a Russian I grew up with traditional Matryoshkas (they were wooden dolls that stacked inside one another) so I can totally appreciate the awesomeness associated with them. I personally own measuring cups that are similar to your Babushkups and I adore them!

  14. Patti @ This Starts Tonight on May 14, 2012 at 12:41 pm

Thanks for the recipe. I shall be the envy of the actor compound. Actually, my castmates will just steal it from my fridge, I’m sure. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  15. Lindsey @ Sound Eats on May 14, 2012 at 12:49 pm

Ooh, I’m inspired! Whole Foods has some delicious sparkling water flavors (like Mint, Raspberry Lemon…). I could totally do this with the Raspberry Lemon sparkling water, and a soft berry-flavored herbal tea. Yum!

  16. Frannie on May 14, 2012 at 12:52 pm

I totally bought that same tea with the intention of making some kind of juice-tea concoction. Thanks for the recipe. I’ll totally use yours!

  17. Emily @ Glitz Glam Granola on May 14, 2012 at 12:54 pm

From your pictures it looks like you had a wonderful Mother’s day!! And I’m very excited about this sparkling lemonade- it sounds delicious! I love sparkling drinks anyway and am also obsessed with tea so it sounds perfect!

Looks so good!! ๐Ÿ™‚ Great idea, love it.

  23. corrie anne on May 14, 2012 at 1:26 pm

That looks like an AMAZING summer drink.

  24. Beth on May 14, 2012 at 1:47 pm

This drink sounds delicious! I’m also a fan of ginger tea. Instead of adding sparkling water, though, have you heard of the Twist ‘n Sparkle (they have it at Williams-Sonoma)? It carbonates any liquid, so I would brew the tea and then cool it overnight. Next day, add some “sparkle”! No more watered-down drinks!

  25. Liz @ Tip Top Shape on May 14, 2012 at 2:14 pm

Love that drink!! Summer must really be here now!

  26. Chelsa on May 14, 2012 at 2:19 pm

Summer + tea = refreshing day! All you need to go along with that one is sunglasses. Thanks Gina!

  30. Lisa on May 14, 2012 at 3:23 pm

That drink looks perfect for the summer! Oh my goodness, I need to go out and get myself some zevia and ginger tea. I love lemonade, but have only tried making it with lemons, water, and stevia. This sounds much better.

  31. Ashley @ Sweat for Sweets on May 14, 2012 at 3:33 pm

Eeee I have the same babushcups as you! They are SO adorable. Sometimes I find myself afraid to use them since they’re so delicate & have to be hand washed! They bring so much happiness into my day, though! ๐Ÿ™‚

  32. Brigid on May 14, 2012 at 3:49 pm

Great idea on the beverage! My diabetic husband gets sick of just drinking water, so I may give this one a whirl for him.

I think I may need to get out the turbo fire DVDs for cardio tomorrow!

Do you just pick the DVD you have enough time for? Or do you do them in some sort of order (I take a circuit training class 4 times a week).

    • Fitnessista on May 14, 2012 at 11:44 pm

you can follow them by the schedule they provide with the set or do your own thing
i usually do my own thing based on my teaching schedule and time restraints

  39. Julie on May 15, 2012 at 2:11 am

The sparkling tea lemonade looks fantastic. It sounds like an Arnold Palmer!

Sweet potato fries = my downfall.

And I need to buy some brown rice tortillas – I miss the taste of them.
