10 Days of Giveaways: Day 4 (Minted)

I love love love holiday cards. Each holiday season, I look forward to receiving Christmas cards from our family and friends all over the world. We won’t see some of our closest friends for a year or so, as military life simultaneously binds us and creates distance, so it’s fun to see how much everyone’s families have changed since we last saw them. On our entryway table, I’ll prop up the Christmas cards we receive, and always look forward to sending ours out, too.

Cards

This year, Minted kindly offered to do our family’s cards, which was great timing, as we’d booked photos with Jacquelynn Buck here in Tucson. If you’re in Tucson and looking for a photographer, I can’t recommend her enough. She does gorgeous work, got my sometimes poker-faced little lovebug to smile (at a camera!), and works quickly, which is importante when you have a little one. (She didn’t give me a discount or anything because I have a blog. She’s truly amazing and I just wanted to spread the word.)

We ordered some photos and a canvas from her, and used her photos for our Christmas card, courtesy of Minted.

Minted

They have so many beautiful options, I had a hard time deciding! In the end, we went with this “Merry and Bright” theme with rounded corners.

Merry and bright

I can’t wait for them to arrive!

Minted also offered to participate in our 10 days of giveaways with an awesome prize: two winners will each receive a $100 credit to their site. They make gorgeous holiday cards in addition to unique gifts like personalized stationary, decor, art prints, calendars and journals. If you’re gift shopping at Minted, you can use the code “HOLLY” to get 15% off holiday card orders of $150+ (10% off orders $100+) through today.

Here’s how to enter:

Mine would definitely be the fact that I used to try to suck on batteries as a toddler, and spent hours chasing the big box of spare ones my parents kept around on Christmas morning– totally ignoring my presents! Haha! And no– dont worry, my parents did not encourage me at all haha

I don’t think I can pick just one holiday memory!! I think it is incredible that to this day, any time I smell evergreen, I immediately am transported to my family’s home in front of the Christmas tree!

    Thanks Gina!

my favourite holiday moment was about 6 years ago. My brothers christmas present, I didn’t have it under the tree. And when we were handing out all the presents, I went and grabbed it. I was bringing it over to him and “tripped” the box went flying, and SMASH. Everyone looked TICKED. All you could hear was the glass breaking. I kept apologizing while he opened the box. I got him a gift card that year. I just added some broken glass secured in bags to pull this prank on him. It was awesome. My sister looked like she was going to hurt me though haha.
    Good times.

I would love to win this! would be amazing 🙂

On Christmas morning, even at this age, my parents make us wait on the stairs while they get the tree ready and turn on the lights and video camera. All the presents need to be arranged just right from santa!

  30. Amanda B. on December 5, 2013 at 5:54 pm

Favorite holiday memories include baking with my grandma and falling asleep on the couch in front of the Christmas tree at night. I just love the glow from the Christmas lights.

  31. Megan on December 5, 2013 at 5:56 pm

I love having the Christmas tree lit up — and the other twinkle lights we have around our house lit up — every night. It adds a touch of magic, I think.

  32. Amanda on December 5, 2013 at 5:56 pm

My favorite holiday moment is actually every Christmas Eve. It’s my favorite day of the year with all the anticipation and cheer in the air. Most people are joyful and my family has a few great traditions we share on that day. Happy Holidays!

  33. Katie M on December 5, 2013 at 5:56 pm

A favorite holiday moment is seeing the look on my parents’ or siblings’ faces when I managed to find the perfect gift. It’s that look of “wow, I’m so excited, this is awesome, how did she know?…” It’s a rare occurrence, but when it happens, it’s priceless 🙂

  34. Beth E. on December 5, 2013 at 5:58 pm

Each year, we have a White Elephant party the Saturday after Thanksgiving and we call it “Thanksmas” as we celebrate both Thanksgiving and Christmas while everyone is in town. One year, there were 3 lottery tickets passed around. I had a lottery ticket that my cousin took from me during the white elephant. She scratched it and won $500!! Everyone screamed. I was a leeetle upset that I didn’t still have the card in my hand, but nonetheless was it exciting!

  37. Jenny on December 5, 2013 at 6:02 pm

My favorite holiday moment is Thanksgiving weekend. Thursday is filled with food, football and family. and then Friday is christmas day! we traditionally get our tree (from a christmas tree farm!) and spend the day decorating and eating thanksgiving leftovers. It could not get better than those two days for me!

  44. Kate on December 5, 2013 at 6:08 pm

My favorite Christmas memory is of Christmas Eve. My parents would throw an awesome party for our neighbors and then we would go to Midnight Mass. I can’t wait until my daughters are old enough for us to do the same!

  45. Iris R. on December 5, 2013 at 6:09 pm

A mortifying and hilarious holiday memory was when we were opening presents a few years ago. We open presents at night, and because my nephew was only three, it quickly got past his bedtime. He’s always been into superheroes and that year he received tons of different costumes – naturally he had to try on all of them. Thanks to the late-night grumpies, coupled with a holiday sugar crash, my nephew started to throw a tantrum. We were all ignoring his fit, so as not to give him attention, but that ended up being hard to do when he dropped the pants to his Darth Vader costume and started peeing all over my parent’s Turkish rug. Whoops! It was kind of hard to scold him, since we were all laughing hysterically.

    Also, cute holiday cards!

  46. Sarah on December 5, 2013 at 6:12 pm

My favourite part of the holidays is always family coming together! My family lives very far apart, all over Canada and the US. When I get to be with everyone I love most, its a special moment! 🙂

  49. Emily on December 5, 2013 at 6:17 pm

Ah I would love this! The last few times I’ve ordered prints and cards from a different site they haven’t turned out well, and I was wondering what a good alternative would be. I’d be so happy to try out one that you’re so enthusiastic about!
