10 Days of Giveaways: Day 4 (Minted)

I love love love holiday cards. Each holiday season, I look forward to receiving Christmas cards from our family and friends all over the world. We won’t see some of our closest friends for a year or so, as military life simultaneously binds us and creates distance, so it’s fun to see how much everyone’s families have changed since we last saw them. On our entryway table, I’ll prop up the Christmas cards we receive, and always look forward to sending ours out, too.

Cards

This year, Minted kindly offered to do our family’s cards, which was great timing, as we’d booked photos with Jacquelynn Buck here in Tucson. If you’re in Tucson and looking for a photographer, I can’t recommend her enough. She does gorgeous work, got my sometimes poker-faced little lovebug to smile (at a camera!), and works quickly, which is importante when you have a little one. (She didn’t give me a discount or anything because I have a blog. She’s truly amazing and I just wanted to spread the word.)

We ordered some photos and a canvas from her, and used her photos for our Christmas card, courtesy of Minted.

Minted

They have so many beautiful options, I had a hard time deciding! In the end, we went with this “Merry and Bright” theme with rounded corners.

Merry and bright

I can’t wait for them to arrive!

Minted also offered to participate in our 10 days of giveaways with an awesome prize: two winners will each receive a $100 credit to their site. They make gorgeous holiday cards in addition to unique gifts like personalized stationary, decor, art prints, calendars and journals. If you’re gift shopping at Minted, you can use the code “HOLLY” to get 15% off holiday card orders of $150+ (10% off orders $100+) through today.

Minted products look amazing, thanks for the intro to them! A favorite holiday memory is waiting my turn for it to be “my day” to hang the ornament on our Advent Tree. This was a Christmas Tree felt applique on a burlap wall hanging that held pockets numbered 1-25. Each pocket held a miniature ornament that we would pin on the tree to count down the days. I loved it so much my mom made me one to hang in my own home and I still get a thrill from it every year. So many happy memories!

Just need to find a picture to include on our cards. I’m tempted to wait until our baby is born in February and just send Valentines/St. Patty’s day cards instead!

When I was young, I would be the designated “present hander-outt..er..” at the family Christmas dinner, and now it’s so fun to see my cousin’s children continuing the tradition!

  13. Katja on December 5, 2013 at 6:32 pm

We did a family Yankee Swap for a few years and one year a pair of Ugg like slippers was quite a hit. I thought my Great Uncle was going to cry when someone stole them from him!

  14. Meghan on December 5, 2013 at 6:32 pm

By far one of my favorite holiday memories is climbing into my sister’s bed on Xmas eve and staying up late to hear the reindeer land on the roof…No matter how old she got, my sister indulged me. & my parents always went big for the holiday…let’s just say there were definitely reindeer & sleigh sounds coming from outside when Santa came to our house! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  15. Jaime on December 5, 2013 at 6:32 pm

  18. Kristin on December 5, 2013 at 6:36 pm

One years as kids, my siblings and I woke up just after 12:00 a.m. on Christmas morning. My parents let us go ahead and open our presents and we played with our new toys for a while and then went back to sleep until morning.

  19. Grace on December 5, 2013 at 6:37 pm

Great giveaway! I’d love to try minted ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. Maria on December 5, 2013 at 6:38 pm

I love Minted! They have such fun cards and stationary to choose from. Last year when our little girl was 4 months old, I didn’t really think she cared about Christmas…she tried opening up presents with her mouth ๐Ÿ™‚ The first Christmas present she ever got was the leap frog talking dog Violet. Her eyes got SO HUGE! I was dying laughing!!! That’s a moment that will live in my mind for a very long time.

  21. Mandy on December 5, 2013 at 6:38 pm

Every Christmas we play a dangerous game of spoons with the cousins. It can get dangerous, but it is so much fun!

  22. Georgia on December 5, 2013 at 6:39 pm

One year I made turkey and dressing while living overseas for my Czech friends. Everyone got diareah. Fa la la la!

  24. Deanne on December 5, 2013 at 6:43 pm

My family never did photo cards. Now that I am married I really want to do one but the logisitcs are tricky. I am trying really hard to get our cats used to santa hats so I can take a cute photo of them in front of some lights. So far 1 is game the other well not so much. It’ll be next year by the time I get my photo at this rate.

  25. Sarah on December 5, 2013 at 6:43 pm

My Husband is into photography and takes some great pictures of the kids I’d love to put on canvas in our home. I would use a Minted credit toward one, if they have canvas.

  26. Kristen on December 5, 2013 at 6:46 pm

The first time my son saw the Christmas tree has been my favorite holiday memory so far!

  27. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on December 5, 2013 at 6:46 pm

Fave holiday moment: When my sister and I were little, we used to throw a snowball into my dad’s side of the bed on Christmas morning. (We weren’t allowed to open presents without the whole family in the living room, and he was always the slowest to get there!)

  28. melissa on December 5, 2013 at 6:48 pm

one of my favorites is going to my grandmother’s for Christmas Eve, I’m the only girl in a family FULL of boys. Two years ago they all got Nurf Guns so we spent the night attacking or hiding from each other!

  29. Melanie on December 5, 2013 at 6:49 pm

My favorite Christmas memories are spending time with my extended family.. grandparents, aunts, uncles, tons of cousins. Nothing better!

  30. Katie on December 5, 2013 at 6:49 pm

One Christmas a mouse got into our house. Our cat chased it, jumping over gifts, chasing it through the manger, and eventually tipping over the tree! A Christmas memory I will never forget.

    I love giving holiday cards!!

  32. Stephanie K on December 5, 2013 at 6:56 pm

I love getting Christmas cards and would love Minted as a nice personalized way to send out cards! When I was younger we always taped the cards we received to the closet door in the front entryway. It was so much fun to see them displayed like that.

  33. Shelby on December 5, 2013 at 6:57 pm

  35. Brenda on December 5, 2013 at 7:00 pm

Christmas Eve at my grandparents house was a tradition in my family for 24 years. When my grandpa sold the house in 2011, I was so upset. Luckily, when relocating to my hometown this summer, my husband and I noticed the house was for sale. Six months later, ‘grandma and grandpa’s house’ feels like ours. : ) We are looking forward to hosting Christmas Eve with my extended family of this year.

  36. Lisa on December 5, 2013 at 7:02 pm

My favorite Christmas tradition is cinnamon buns for breakfast Christmas morning. So yummy!

  37. Cara on December 5, 2013 at 7:04 pm

…the time I coated the snickerdoodles with cinnamon and salt instead of cinnamon and sugar. Oops. : )

  38. Beth on December 5, 2013 at 7:05 pm

I love Christmas cards! Hoping I can get ours out on time this year!

  39. Alex on December 5, 2013 at 7:07 pm

I’d have to say that my favorite holiday moment is the annual Christmas Eve service at my church. It’s so relaxing, peaceful, and happy!

  40. Kristen on December 5, 2013 at 7:07 pm

Fun giveaway! My family always goes shopping at a home and garden store that turns into a wonderland of Christmas for the holidays and one year my mom bought a sign that said Believe. As we were checking out I told the woman behind the counter that I believed in Santa Claus. Then I said “he’s right over there” and pointed to my dad.

  41. Chelsea on December 5, 2013 at 7:07 pm

One of my favorite holiday memories is baking Christmas cookies with my mom and frosting them with my family!

  44. Tess on December 5, 2013 at 7:11 pm

My favorite holiday moment is when all of our family gets together throughout the whole week!

  45. Rachel C on December 5, 2013 at 7:13 pm

Growing up my family always waited until Christmas Eve to wrap presents. Then, we would stay up until 2-3 wrapping everything. It is one of my favorite memories because we always had so much fun, and as years went by, it became a party with food, dessert and drinks. Now that we are all married and living apart, we’ve had to stop the Christmas Eve wrapping party tradition, but I still think the Christmas tree looks odd with presents under it.

  46. Rebecca on December 5, 2013 at 7:14 pm

I love minted cards and can’t wait to order ours this year ๐Ÿ™‚

  47. Abby on December 5, 2013 at 7:14 pm

We always decorate Christmas sugar cookies and my dad is notorious for pullin’ out the toothpicks to get his sprinkle-covered snowman to look a-mazing. My sister and I fight with him for the most creative. Mom – she just pulls out the glitter sugar shaker and goes to town.

  48. Cori on December 5, 2013 at 7:15 pm

Mine is getting the house to myself for 2-3 days. We don’t celebrate, so my husband goes to see family and I hang out here to take care of the house ๐Ÿ™‚

  49. Jessica on December 5, 2013 at 7:15 pm

Wow what a generous gift! I love minted…I used their site to make my mom a notebook for her job…She loved it! It would be great to win and be able to make my grandma something similar!
