Gina: Navy finds

Besides department stores, which will always be staples that I love, Iโ€™ll go through store phases. I think itโ€™s just that I like knowing I can go into a certain store, find something I like, and then leave.

First it was Express (gotta love those mailer coupons)

then Banana and J Crew

currently LOFT and Francescaโ€™s Collection (with a little H&M in there).

I did something very out of the ordinary for me this week: bought quite a few things from a store I havenโ€™t shopped at in years. Old Navy.

I have a weird history with Old Navy. When we first got one here in Tucson (I was in high school), I loved it. I worked throughout high school and really appreciated the low prices, along with the clothes at Forever 21. I realized that all of my clothes from both stores would quickly fall apart and moved on to Abercrombie land, where I eventually started working to take advantage of the sweet discount. Anyway, I never really went back to Old Navy. Shopping at any of the malls in Tucson can be a little bit of a rat race -over the weekends, a lot of people drive up from Mexico and buy, buy, buy- and just peering through the windows as Iโ€™d walk by, well, just the sight of the crowds would give me a panic attack.

Recently, a friend came over and was wearing a super cute top, so of course I asked where she got it.

Old Navy.

I checked the website to see if the shirt was available and was blown away by how many cute, affordable styles they had. ON seems to have changed a lot (and from what Iโ€™ve heard, the quality isnโ€™t fantastic but itโ€™s better than it used to be), or maybe Iโ€™ve just been missing out, because I picked up a few fall staples:

Recent finds

Not too bad, huh? 20% off, free shipping and $166 (including tax) for everything. Weโ€™ll see how much of it fits/what I like when it gets here, but the good news is that I can brave the store and return/exchange if I need to.

It was fun crashing the party over here- I love to post about good shopping hauls every now and again ๐Ÿ™‚

Whatโ€™s your current staple store? Find anything amazing lately?

xoxo

I feel like Iโ€™ve had a similar relationship with ON! I used to buy their stuff and then hated the quality, but this year I needed some button up shirts and stumbled onto their website because of a discount coupon I had received and realized I liked a lot of their stuff! I find that they run pretty big and some things are a flop but for the most part I like their stuff

i usually mix up loft, jcrew, express, gap, h&m, etc, but I have just discovered francescas because one opened 10 minutes away from me in the cutest little outdoor shopping area!! I am obsessed with how inexpensive the clothes are and they often have great deals!!! I love their jewelry too and find that so much of it looks like the stella & dot stuff, but it is 1/3 of the price! definitely new favorite place for fun tops, dresses and jewelry ๐Ÿ™‚

    Definitely Gap.
I love love love it. I think I buy atleast 80% of my clothes from there, haha.

I really like Old Navy! I havenโ€™t shopped a lot lately because of grad school sucking our money away!

I always forget about Old Navy too, and some of there things are okay. I would never buy their pants bc they stretch out but skirts, some cheap tops, some sweaters, and socks and purses are good! Oh and I like their workout shorts that are knockoffs of nike.

They have great basic tees and tanks. And their maternity jeans are great. I have like 6 of their vintage v-neck tees that I wear regularly!

I actually love ON too and I think the quality has gotten a LOT better. I adore their Rockstar jeggings. I have them in the dark dark blue and people constantly ask me what brand they are because they look like designer jeggings.

But I have found you do have to be picky and canโ€™t expect everything to be cute.

Our closest Francescaโ€™s closed.. so sad.

I work at home, so I live in exercise clothes and Iโ€™ve found that the Gapโ€™s Gap Fit line is really nice. Their leggings especially are nice and thick and hold up well. And since The Gap has tons of sales, I can get them at a fraction of the price of other high end yoga clothing stores. I also really like their 1969 jeans. I tend to stick to The Gap and Jcrew for online orders since I know my size but I did recently brave an Old Navy sweater. I stopped buying from Old Navy a few years ago since the quality was so bad, but I was swayed by this particular sweater, which looked adorable online. Weโ€™ll see how it looks when it gets here!

I basically quit ON years ago because of the quality. Then when I was โ€œcryingโ€ on the phone to a girlfriend about O ruining all her good clothes at school, she told me to go to ON. I discovered quickly that for around $150, I could get about 10 -12 weeks worth of school clothes for O with some pieces lasting much longer, and others suffering death by finger paint. Pre-K is hard on clothes. Basically, the stuff is cute and not trashy, and when you only spend $5 to $10 on itโ€ฆ you donโ€™t care about finger paint.

Thereโ€™s this anorak that I really want from there.

I was in an Express phase at one point too.

Nice finds! Iโ€™m digging the skinnies and that gorgeous blue top. Iโ€™m headed out of town tomorrow for a little shopping trip and am excited for my very first visit to Francescaโ€™s. ๐Ÿ™‚

Victorias Secret has some awesome clothes and they always have a promo or something going. Theyโ€™re my staple for sure. Although, I have a fair share from Old Navy.

For maternity you canโ€™t beat ON. Their prices are great and since you wonโ€™t be wearing them for any length of time the quality doesnโ€™t have to be impeccable.

I need to stop into Old Navy sometime soon. They also have great finds for the summer when youโ€™re looking for dresses. And of course, I LOVE Francescaโ€™s!

I just bought a bunch of stuff from ON, too โ€” gotta love their 40% off sale and coupons for $15 off! ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. Emily on October 20, 2012 at 11:52 am

I tend to shop a mix of BR, Zara and Mango. I also go to H&M for randomness and seasonal top ups, but never for anything I expect to last long term (makes me feel sad for the environment just typing that, but itโ€™s true for right now). My last good buy was a pair of Gap jeans for ยฃ12.74 down from ยฃ45! I pretty much happy-danced the whole walk home.

Iโ€™ve been pleasantly surprised by Old Navy lately too! They had some really cute short sleeve blouses there this summer and I like them so much I got 2!

  18. Elle on October 22, 2012 at 5:56 am

The clothes on ON site look cute but I find the clothes really, really big. Even fit most of the times. But I think when the clothes do fit, you can get some really great deals. A lot of my friends love their flip flops, cheap and last a long time!

I just went to Old Navy this weekend- for the first time in at least a year! I canโ€™t help but get drawn into their commercials- so I figured- might as well try it out!

They used to have such boxy clothing. Howeverโ€ฆ I was so pleasantly surprised. I tried on quite a few things and ended up walking out of there with a chambray shirt (on my wish list forever!) and a long sleeve belted dress that fits like a dream (not on website only in stores right now). Iโ€™m talking the type of dress you want to LIVE in because itโ€™s so flattering..

Such a coincidence that you posted about this and I didnโ€™t see it until after I went! ๐Ÿ™‚

PS- If that chambray top doesnโ€™t work try out the plain one in stores- the plain jean one is fitted and lays really nice. I tried on a colored one and the fit was horrible. Surprised that they vary that much. Oh and also a short sleeved dress I saw online I got on clearance in the store- Fyi ๐Ÿ˜‰
