Weeks 10-13 (April 7)

Hey guys! Iโ€™mย publishing all of the remaining posts that I wrote in the last 13 weeks at once; this is the most recent one, as Iโ€™m 13 weeks today! I apologize for any confusion the pre-written posts may have caused initially. ย To avoid any more of that, I waited until theย announcement to post all of the remaining pre-written posts in bulk. I wanted you to be a part of this journey as I experienced everything, but wanted to wait to announce the pregnancy until we were sure it was relatively stable.ย

Random thoughts/things I noticed:

-Heartburn is a beast. If the old wiveโ€™s tale is true, little baby is going to come out looking like itโ€™s wearing a wig.

-Even though some parts of a second pregnancy are much easier (like not feeling like I have to read every book on the planet), some parts are exactly the same, like the worry, and praying for the babyโ€™s safety and safe arrival. The same intensity is there, and I have to same butterflies before each upcoming appointment.ย

-We finally told the family! My mom knew quite a few weeks ago -I tell her everything- and weโ€™ve also told our parents. Livi told one of our cousins about it at Disneyland -we were going to tell them anyway, and know sheโ€™s excited, so we havenโ€™t asked her to keep it a secret or anything like that- but I had to call my nana that night and tell her, too. Finally, I was able to put together our announcement packages:

Annoucement package 1 of 1

A Easter egg with a picture of the ultrasound inside, and Livi wearing a โ€œBig Sisโ€ shirt (I made the shirt by purchasing glitter iron-on paper and designing the label in Canva)

Shirt supplies

Here is the label if anyone wants to make something similar! The image is flipped for the iron-on paper, which you can pick up at Michaelโ€™s or any craft store.

Big sister

-My cuppeths runneth over. So do my jeans. Things definitely happen a little more quickly with the second one.

-Starting to feel like a semi-normal person again. I still feel more tired than usual, but not as much like I need to eat every hour or Iโ€™ll get sick. I also donโ€™t feel like a walking tired zombie 24/7, so thatโ€™s a winner. Even with how sick Iโ€™ve been, I love being pregnant. I loved it last time (like, SO MUCH) and love it just as much this time. It feels like such a special time to have your little one with you, always. This time, Iโ€™m starting to feel movement much earlier. If I have something to eat thatโ€™s particularly sweet or delicious, I feel little flutters. Best ever. I canโ€™t wait until Tom and Liv can feel the baby kick.ย

11 week belly pic:

11 weeks

Cravings:

-ACAI BOWLS. Iโ€™ve had one almost every day, either homemade or from a local spot (like Tiki Port or Cafe by the Bay). Thankfully, acai bowls are abundant here.

-Anything cold. I had some Dole Whip at Disneyland and almost cried tears of happiness. It tasted SO GOOD, and Iโ€™m not usually a huge ice cream person. I mean, I wonโ€™t kick any dessert out of bed, but if given the option, I usually choose something cake or brownie-related. Right now, I am loving smoothies, chia pudding, sorbets, and froyo. Banana soft serve has been getting a lot of love around here.

-Chips, especially jalapeรฑo or BBQ.ย

-Sandwiches. The Peopleโ€™s deli knows me now. I get the same thing every time: gluten-free bread (toasted), Veganaise, lettuce, tomato, pickles, avocado, tempeh bacon, salt and pepper. BRB, need to wipe the drool off my keyboard.ย

-Mayo. Any type of tuna, egg, or chicken salad rocks my world right now. I make it at home with chopped onion, cornichons, dill, garlic, salt, pepper, mayo, mustard, and some plain goatโ€™s yogurt to thin it out. The best.ย

-Pizza. All day, every day.ย

-Huge salads (the vegetables need to be chopped into small pieces, or they end up being neglected)

-Eggs. Eggs are my favorite food, so the fact that they still sound delicious makes me happy.

-Refried beans and Spanish rice. Yes.ย

ย

Aversions:

-Most cooked vegetables, even though I can eat them if I donโ€™t have to prepare them.

-Indian food ๐Ÿ™

-Anything heavily spiced.

-Chocolate. I KNOW, right? Thankfully, Iโ€™m coming out the other side. I donโ€™t really think this is so much of an aversion, but I donโ€™t crave sweets the way I usually do. Iโ€™m kind of โ€œmehโ€ about dessert and chocolate right now.. unless itโ€™s some type of frozen treat. Then, all bets are off. Right now, Iโ€™m all about the salty/savory.ย

-Soup. I managed to eat some chicken tortilla soup, but I canโ€™t think about it too much if it makes me gag. This one is starting to go away, too. I was craving tomato soup yesterday and it was actually pretty tasty. ย

Weight gain:

-Still 3 lbs overall. Like i said before, it feels like more. The belly looks about how it did when I was 15 weeks pregnant last time, and my legs, hips and face all look softer.ย

ย

xoxo!

The picture of Liv in the announcement package kills me – I can’t imagine what it does to you! Even though I have never had a baby and don’t plan to for many years, I LOVE reading pregnancy posts. Can’t wait to follow along <3

  9. Alicia on April 10, 2015 at 7:40 am

Congrats! Just noticed all these post today! Spending my Friday doing a little blog reading! lol

I do have a question, if I recall you had some struggles getting Prego before. Seems time wise(even though you are pretty healthy regardless) it would of happened the same time you and the pilot did the 21 day cleanse. Just wondering if you think that may of aided in getting pregnant this time around.

Or I could be off base and it is just a coincidence ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Fitnessista on April 10, 2015 at 2:36 pm

i have no idea, but definitely think it could have helped. i think the main thing that helped was that my homeopathic doctor helped me regulate my hormones and my cycle. since my cycle was normal now, and i’d been tracking it for so long, i knew exactly when it was the right time to try

  10. Emily Miner on April 10, 2015 at 7:42 am

Congrats, sweet friend! I know I’m a few days post-announcement, but just getting caught up with life now. Also, re: veggies in tiny pieces- do you have the OXO salad chopper? Best $25 ever spent on Amazon. You get a taste of everything with each bite, and I chop mine up super fine (like baby food) and eat with a spoon. It’s the best!

Im so envious of the time you have on your hands!!!

  12. Maria on April 10, 2015 at 9:06 am

Second time around is no joke with the baby bump…I’m just sayin’. Cute pregnancy announcements to your family ๐Ÿ™‚ I love the idea of a t-shirt for the older sibling.

  13. Christina on April 10, 2015 at 9:11 am

Love all your baby posts. As a mom of 2, you will notice things a lot quicker the second time around. I think it’s because your body knows what to do. So you show a little sooner, feel a little sooner, gain weight quicker.
Beware though, two takes so much time!!

    • Fitnessista on April 10, 2015 at 2:33 pm

yes, everything is happening very quickly haha

  14. Kristin on April 10, 2015 at 9:39 am

I’m just so excited to follow along with you! I’m a few weeks behind you at 6 1/2 weeks but I love seeing these updates!!

  15. Lauren @ Sassy Molassy on April 10, 2015 at 10:00 am

Aw, these posts are fun to read. At 33 weeks, it’s good to be reminded how special and exciting it was at the very beginning with this huge secret that you don’t really tell the world for a few months. ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s also fun that Liv is at the age where she understands what’s happening and is already wanting to talk to the little bean inside your belly.

  16. Kaleigh on April 10, 2015 at 10:03 am

I feel like I just binge read all these posts, when I should have taken my time.

Keep them coming! I love reading them!

  17. Genifer on April 10, 2015 at 10:58 am

I just read through all of your new family posts and seriously got teary-eyed out of excitement for you! Having your first baby is amazing in and of itself- but giving that sweet little person siblings is just out of this world. It’s challenging, of course, but to see them grow up together and love each other so much is so beautiful.

    • Fitnessista on April 10, 2015 at 2:30 pm

thank you so much <3 i can't even imagine how amazing it's going to be

  18. Cassie Vaughn on April 10, 2015 at 11:25 am

I hear ya on the sandwich cravings. I was just telling my husband that I could have a club sub every night and make my taste buds so happy!

    • Fitnessista on April 10, 2015 at 2:29 pm

a sandwich is everything right now

  19. Reghan on April 10, 2015 at 12:24 pm

I looooove sweets normally but with my son they did not sound appetizing in the first/second trimester. And all I wanted were burgers and sour candy. With my daughter I really wanted sweets (like usual) right from the beginning and that was 1 of many reasons I just KNEW she had to be a SHE. I’m guessing you are having a boy ๐Ÿ™‚ Guessing is fun lol

    • Fitnessista on April 10, 2015 at 2:28 pm

      guessing is fun!

  20. mary on April 10, 2015 at 1:17 pm

3 of the 4 bloggers I read are pregnant! You probably don’t read design blogs but these two each had very cute gender reveals–

  21. Laury on April 10, 2015 at 4:45 pm

Yay!!! Just saw on Instagram and wanted to say how happy i was for you! The old wives tale is true. Jaxon came out with so much hair. Ella was bald until she was about 2 LOL! Heart burn was a beast with #2 although my friend who’s an herbalist told me it was all the handstands i was doing while pregnant :/

Wishing you the best!!! Feel good you look gorgeous! Xo

  22. Kerry on April 10, 2015 at 11:17 pm

I think it’s a boy! I totally went off chocolate when I was pregnant with our son and normally I’m like you! All about it ๐Ÿ™‚ Congratulations, so excited to follow our journey again! xx

  23. april on April 11, 2015 at 10:28 am

i love reading these posts! i’m so excited to follow along throughout your pregnancy. i’m not pregnant, but your cravings are definitely making me crave a sandwich and banana soft serve right now ๐Ÿ˜‰

  24. Brooke on April 13, 2015 at 7:10 am

I’m 30 weeks pregnant with my first baby right now. My sweet tooth is out of control, but I made Ashley’s (from edible perspective blog) cake batter chia pudding for the second time and it is soooo good!

Now that I’m getting closer to the birth, I’m getting excited to meet my baby, but it’s also bittersweet knowing I won’t be pregnant anymore. I’ll miss the baby kicks and carrying the baby with me everywhere and getting spoiled by everyone and getting the loving looks from strangers. I’m trying to savor every moment and not worry (even though worry is what I do all day every day it seems like).

Thanks for sharing this journey with your readers <3

    • Fitnessista on April 13, 2015 at 3:13 pm

i know what you mean, and it’s how i felt before liv was born. i loved being pregnant so much and having her with me all the time! i will say, having her OUT of my belly is 1829308x better than being pregnant, as awesome as being pregnant was. so excited for you <3

  25. Sabrina @ Nutritiously Sweet on April 13, 2015 at 6:28 pm

Congrats again! ๐Ÿ™‚ I remember in the first tri, I was pretty nauseas and only wanted bagels, eggs and pizza. Dark chocolate and protein bars was so yuck (I am a Quest lover!). But then maybe around 11+ weeks, I became sweets obsessed! Donuts, chocolate cake, candy, jelly beans… you name it lol ๐Ÿ™‚ Then probably 15-16+, my normal diet is back, which is nice! I still have treats but much more rare now.

    • Fitnessista on April 14, 2015 at 8:38 am

same! now, things are kind of back to normal on the eats front ๐Ÿ™‚

  26. Ali on April 15, 2015 at 5:07 pm

Just read through all the updates ๐Ÿ™‚ Congratulations again, I love reading your accounts of your journey. I am really happy to hear that you are feeling better too! Nothing worse than feeling sick all day every day for weeks on end <3

  27. Meredith on April 16, 2015 at 4:38 pm

Congrats again on the happy news – so excited to follow along on your journey! And I LOVE that label; thank you so much for sharing it with us!!! I’m using it to make a ‘big sister’ bag for the hospital filled with games, snacks, a ‘Big sis’ button (found the template on Pinterest) and a book about being a big sis. Not that I expect Hannah to be in the waiting room the whole time, but I know she’ll have to spend some time just hanging out, so I figured it’d be something that will not only keep her entertained, but make her feel special on the day of. I’ll share a pic when its done ๐Ÿ™‚

  28. Shaina Anderson on May 6, 2015 at 6:00 am

Salty/savory was what I craved both times! So don’t believe any wives tales haha. You look gorgeous!

    • Shaina Anderson on May 6, 2015 at 6:00 am

oh, and where did you get that shower curtain?! I love it!
