Summer lovin’

(the title will make sense in a second haha)

Hi friends! Happy Monday! How was the weekend? I hope you had a great one. Ours was so.good. It wasnโ€™t anything super out of the ordinary, but filled with lots of friend time, family time, and the best food. Thatโ€™s really all you need, right?

Avocado toast

Friday morning, I had some avocado toast for breakfast and ended up taking the day off from the gym. Katie and I were filming 4 workouts on Saturday, so I wanted my legs to be fresh! The girls had school and requested their favorite place ever for dinner: Sweet Tomatoes. My brother Kyle is my favorite person to invite to Sweet Tomatoes (โ€œYeah, I love eating buffet lunch food for dinnerโ€) but it was just us girls and my nana. We went over to my momโ€™s house and spent the evening chatting while the girls played in the play room.

Saturday, I made the girls French toast, we headed to the park, and later that afternoon was filming extravaganza. New workouts headed your way here on the blog and the olโ€™ YouTube channel! It was so much fun to shoot with Katie and Grant and I hope you love the new workouts. My legs are wicked sore this morning and Iโ€™m doing that nice sore swagger walk.

Saturday night was a fun adventure.

When I asked Liv if she wanted to go to the Greek festival, she said, โ€œGreek? Like what do you mean?”

โ€œItโ€™s a festival celebrating the culture of people from Greece. So thereโ€™s music and dancing and great food.”

โ€œGreece? You mean Danny and Sandy will be there?!”

โ€œNo, not Grease. Greece. Like the country.”

And then she and P started singing โ€œSummer Lovinโ€™โ€ and were very confused about what was happening until we got there.

Greek festival

Even though Danny and Sandy did not make an appearance, they loved the festival. They have artisan booths and crafts, tons of food + drinks, music, a kidsโ€™ corner with a rock wall and jumping castles, and live performances. The food was even better than I remembered. We shared a meze platter, chicken, rice, salad, pita, vegetarian grape leaves, baklava, and the two of them shared a gyro. They were so cute sitting at the table enjoying their gyro and bites of the different foods for at least a half hour. Then we hit the stage where they had a DJ and danced on the dance floor with a bunch of the other kids, all wearing glow sticks. Needless to say, they both crashed on the drive home and we had the best sleep weโ€™ve had in a long time. Apparently I just need to give them a bunch of delicious Greek food and a 2-hour dance party before bed each night.

Sunday was church and brunch at Commoner.

Menu

It was my first time trying out Commoner for brunch and the Return of the Mac was everything I could wish for. It was egg whites with poblano and veggie sausage, tomatoes, and a simple salad with creamy dressing, avocado, tomato, and butter lettuce.

Commoner brunch

The rest of the evening was spent finishing up some work deadlines and getting ready for the week. I also grabbed a copy of the new Chrissy Teigen cookbook at Target and am stoked to try some recipes for dinners coming up. (I planned PaleOMGโ€™s shrimp chowder for dinner tonight.)

The most exciting thing on the agenda is decorating for Halloween today! ALL of our Halloween decor was packed up and stored (wah) so Iโ€™m going to make a trip to Home Goods for a couple of pumpkins and you know, whatever else happens.

Have a happy Monday!

Greek Festivals are the BEST! The food, the pastries, the Greek dancers! Sounds like a super fun weekend!

That exchange with your daughter was hilarious. I love Grease and Greece!

A bit of a letdown that Danny & Sandy weren’t there, but still sounds like a ton of fun!
