Stichfix #3

was a HOME RUN.

I wasn’t planning on blogging about my most recent box -I figured two was a perfect amount of posts to showcase the types of things I’ve been getting- and then I opened it.

It’s just too good.

Photo

I really feel like my stylist KNOWS me. Of course, I have no idea who she is in real life, but I can still picture us at the mall together and grabbing a juice afterwards. Creepy? Maybe.

Whenever I have a fix scheduled, if I know it’s been shipped, I’ll excitedly check the website to see what they sent me. I saw the description “Kahlo tank” and immediately thought that maybe they had sent me a tank top with Frida Kahlo’s face on it. Very few people know this in my life -I think I may have mentioned it once on the blog?- but I’m obsessed with Frida Kahlo. Her work is beyond incredible, I love her story, the movie, everything. I also have visions of decorating our house in antique Mexican furniture, bold colors and Dia de los Muertos style skulls everywhere. But then, no one will come over (and it would probably freak Livi out), so maybe I’ll have to wait until our retirement house ๐Ÿ˜‰

Needless to say, the tank did not have Frida Kahlo’s face on it, but it was my favorite piece out of the most recent fix.

(warning: mediocre self-timer pics ahead)

Fix3 1 of 1

I have a penchant for stripes and especially adore the embroidered neckline- it will be a staple with skinny jeans or crops.

The next piece is this amazing jacket:

Fix3 1 of 1 4

The brand is BCBGeneration and at first I thought the color may be a little bright for me. (I’m a weenie when it comes to bright colors and intense patterns.) I put the jacket on and it didn’t feel too flashy at all. The fabric is soft and light, and it gives it a different spin by wearing it open instead of zipped and belted.

I also received this black shirt:

Fix3 1 of 1 2

(a beautiful combo of delicate detail and chiffon)

and the gorgeous squares necklace.

Fix3 1 of 1 3

The necklace will match a lot of outfits and I think it will look especially cute under a collared shirt.

In the fix was also a cobalt shirt with a tie neck, but I wasn’t quite sure how often I’d wear it, so I sent it back. I have one cobalt shirt and I’ve worn it onceโ€ฆ to see the zoo lights and meet Harry Potter with Livi.

Zoo halloween 7

(she looks so little in that pic!!!)

So there ya go: my most recent fix! ๐Ÿ™‚

If you’re curious about more Stitch Fix details, I explained it thoroughly in my past two posts:

Fix #1

Fix #2

What style or trend are you especially loving right now? I love that Pantone’s color of the year is emerald- it’s a color I rarely wear and I feel inspired ๐Ÿ˜‰ Are you a Stitch Fix subscriber (or anything similar)?

xoxo

Gina

I love stichfix. There was one shirt in my last fix that I wasn’t a huge fan of and it didn’t fit great, but it was cheaper to keep the whole box then it was to keep everything minus that shirt. My first box wasn’t great, but it really does get better with every box.

  2. Sarabell on January 25, 2013 at 7:09 pm

I am too cheap for Stitchfix but I love to see other peoples’ fixes! =]

  3. Avery on January 25, 2013 at 7:10 pm

I thought the same thing about emerald! I think tangerine (was that last year?) was a little tough to pull off on my freckle fair skin. Emerald seems like it’s flattering on a lot of people and lends itself well to some great color combos. I’m on a mission to find a nice emerald boyfriend style cardigan!

The tank is PERFECT. I love it — super jel!

  5. Calie on January 25, 2013 at 7:23 pm

Wow! I’m definitely seriously thinking about giving this a go! Is this an expensive venture or reasonably priced?!

    • Fitnessista on January 26, 2013 at 1:01 am

i think considering the convenience factor, it’s very reasonable. higher than mall prices, but much less than boutique.

  6. RachelG on January 25, 2013 at 7:37 pm

I just signed up and can’t wait for my first fix to arrive! Stupid excited. ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Kelli on January 25, 2013 at 7:57 pm

Those are super cute and you look great! I’m also wondering what the price range is on the boxes?

    • Fitnessista on January 26, 2013 at 1:00 am

it depends on the items. shirts (for me so far) have been about 60, the sweaters are in the 60-100 range, pants i got were 80. it really just depends on what they send, but you can specify a price range when you sign up

  9. Danielle on January 25, 2013 at 8:01 pm

Love that tank! Fingers crossed it’s in my next fix!

  10. Nicole on January 25, 2013 at 8:12 pm

      Same here!

      • Katie on January 26, 2013 at 10:52 am

Ditto! I would love to see EVERY fix!! (idk if that sounds creepy?) it’s just so interesting to see what other people get… it’s kind of like being in on the surprise ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. Coleen on January 25, 2013 at 8:44 pm

I just got my first one yesterday. I was so excited about everything in it. It was kind of creepy for the little amount of information that I gave them that they picked perfect things for me. I am usually pretty cheap with my clothes and have no sense of style. I didn’t even think it was that expensive. I wanted to wait to see what I got but now I am spreading the word. I can’t wait for my next one already.

    • Fitnessista on January 26, 2013 at 12:59 am

it always feels like christmas is coming ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Casey on January 25, 2013 at 8:45 pm

Ooh you can tell us who makes the tank? I must have it! Haha. Looks gorgeous on you!

    • Fitnessista on January 26, 2013 at 12:59 am

thank you! the brand is THML

  13. Maria on January 25, 2013 at 9:31 pm

I got my first fix just a few hours ago and I’m already sitting here wearing the scarf from it ๐Ÿ™‚

The sizing was a bit off for my first fix, so I’m hoping they can work on that and I can update my profile a bit. I did love though that they pulled things that I wouldn’t normally pick out for myself and some of the pieces were SO unique!. Cannot wait for the next one!

    • Fitnessista on January 26, 2013 at 12:58 am

that’s what i love the most: the convenience in addition to the chance to try totally new things! glad you’re loving it too ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. Maryz on January 25, 2013 at 9:40 pm

Got my first ‘fix’ yesterday! Love it…sizing was a little off but the colors and style were awesome!

  15. Melissa on January 25, 2013 at 10:02 pm

Thank you! For turning me onto stitch fix. I Am on #2.

Love your pieces. I think I need to as for that necklace …. So my style!

  16. Mallory on January 25, 2013 at 10:19 pm

Yes…please tell me the brand of the Kahlo tank? I’d love to request it…SO cute!

  17. Bek @ Crave on January 25, 2013 at 10:20 pm

This looks awesome and what I’d need- sometimes I need a good kick up the butt to wear something..and all that effort to take it back might persuade me haha

  18. Lauren on January 25, 2013 at 10:33 pm

Where is that beautiful necklace from? I’d love to be able to find it for an event I’m attending next weekend ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Fitnessista on January 26, 2013 at 12:51 am

i don’t know what the brand is :/ i’m sorry! where are you located?

  19. Natasha on January 25, 2013 at 11:05 pm

Question, the stitch fix website says each price point average is $75…is that meaning your box of five items costs an average of $375?! I love the idea of this but am curious because I can’t spend anywhere near $375 a month on clothes for myself!

    • Fitnessista on January 26, 2013 at 12:48 am

not from what’s i’ve experienced. the prices (especially for the shirts) are a little high, but usually in the 50-60 range from what i’ve had so far. in this past one, all of the tops were under that, except for the jacket which was a bit of a splurge (it’s bcbg)

      • Natasha on January 26, 2013 at 7:14 am

Thanks for the response! I think I need to give stitchfix a try!

  20. Emily on January 25, 2013 at 11:56 pm

    I am patiently wait-listing for my first Stitch-Fix … someday …!

You know how every region/city has its own style and feel? Since I moved recently I’m still figuring out the vibe of SF. But I never go without a scarf; I have one in every color and it always makes whatever I’m wearing pop just a wee bit ๐Ÿ™‚

And I loooove Frida! There’s a small exhibit at the SF Museum of Modern Art, and I could spend the whole time in that room.

    • Fitnessista on January 26, 2013 at 12:47 am

omg i would love to go there!

  21. shelly on January 26, 2013 at 7:42 am

I’m glad that you shared your Stichfix box, I love seeing what they send you. I am very intrigued by this service.

  22. Anna on January 26, 2013 at 7:57 am

So, I signed up way back when you did the first post– I think the end of Novemeber– and I still haven’t gotten anything? I’m ok with waiting if it’s just a waiting list thing, but I’m worried I accidently deleted an e-mail from them or there was some kind of mix up. Has anyone else been waiting that long?

    • Katie on January 26, 2013 at 10:54 am

You should send an email to their contact email address asking what the deal is… I had to do this to give them a little “nudge” after I was tired of waiting for a few weeks. My invite was delivered like 12 hours after I did that.

  23. Ashley on January 26, 2013 at 8:07 am

This seems like a great idea ! Having a stylist without having to leave the house, genius! I’m thinking about trying it, but was curious, what is the average price of an item in the box?

  24. Karissa on January 26, 2013 at 1:34 pm

Hi Gina! I stumbled across your blog and have become a regular reader- I myself am actually in the AF, and so is my fiancรฉ. I am a pretty active person and really interested in fitness and healthy eating and I love LOVE your perspective on things- it is such a great balance and is really encouraging to read about! (I’m trying to revamp my eating and fitness routine and reading your posts is really helping me! ๐Ÿ™‚ )

I love the idea of a stylist like this, I’ve never heard of it! ๐Ÿ™‚ I am actually terrible with fashion, so your posts on this stuff is SO helpful to read! ๐Ÿ™‚
    Have a great day!

  25. Grace @ PracticingGrace on January 26, 2013 at 4:07 pm

The striped top is gorgeous on you!! I should probably invest in this. I’m just nervous I’ll want everything I get each time ๐Ÿ˜‰

  26. Sami on January 26, 2013 at 8:16 pm

Hi Gina! Please keep posting about your fixes; I love seeing what you get in yours. I have just received my second fix (I used your referral link back in December and mentioned it in a note – I hope you got credit for it.) I love it so far; it’s so exciting opening it up haha and they really do a wonderful job. Could you please mention the name of the BCBGeneration jacket? I’d like to see if I can request it, it looks great!

Looking forward to the Winter shape up as well ๐Ÿ™‚

  27. Sara on January 28, 2013 at 11:30 am

Hey! I love love love that tank! Do you happen to have a link for where it can be found online? I googled “THML Haklo Tanl” and can’t find it! ๐Ÿ™ Thanks.

  28. Sonia the Mexigarian on January 28, 2013 at 3:15 pm

I really like that first top you have on. And the red jacket. I LOVE colors. As an artist I paint with a lot of bright vibrant colors, especially in my Dia de los Muertos work. ๐Ÿ˜‰ And you could definitely hang some day of the dead work in your house. There are many non scary works of art that depict the day. Check out: http://fineartamerica.com/art/paintings/dia+de+los+muertos/all some very family friendly paintings there and some scary ones. lol

    • Fitnessista on January 28, 2013 at 3:24 pm

omg, i want all of them! thank you for the link

  29. Tracy on February 5, 2013 at 12:41 pm

I’m finally signing up for my first Stitch Fix after hearing so many good things about it… Just out of curiousity when choosing fit, were you choosing figure flatting/semi-fitted or loose tops? The opinions are a bit overwhelming, and I want to make sure I make the right choice. I’m looking for tops not really tight, but contours the body and possibly a little flowy…

  30. Haley on February 6, 2013 at 6:23 pm

I just got my first Fix and it was super fun! Please keep showing us your fixes!!
