Keep it up all year

Boo for taking Christmas decorations down!

tree

(U of A! U of A!)

I love our tree so much! Since the pilot is pretty much gone every other Christmas, I only get a tree every other year. Iโ€™ve done a pretty good job savoring itโ€™s beauteousness for the season, but Iโ€™m going to miss it so.

To make me feel better, I had chocolate for breakfast.

bfast cookie

Usually I donโ€™t advocate chocolate for breakfast, but since I slept in, it was more like brunch ๐Ÿ˜‰

BREAKFAST COOKIE!

-1/2 cup oats

-1/2 scoop Sun Warrior vanilla

-almond milk

-smashed banana

-T vegan chocolate chips

-lots of cinnamon

-1 T almond butter

-sprinkle of foodgasms ๐Ÿ˜‰

To rewind to last night, we had INDIAN FOOD!

passage

The usual pappadum and dippers,

tandoori roti (whole wheat naan)

roti

and dal bukara, a spicy lentil dish

dal bukara

Ahhhhhmazing. Iโ€™m pretty sure I could eat Indian food every day and not get sick of it ๐Ÿ˜€

We stayed at the restaurant for a few hours, chatting with our friends, then the pilot and I hit up Targizzle for storage supplies for the Christmas stuff, then to the casa to watch a movie.

We watched The Hangover on the new Blue Ray, and I snacked on some popcorn:

popcorn

I lasted about halfway through the movie before crashing out on the couch and being carried to bed ๐Ÿ˜€

The plan for today is:

-post office (birthday package, bills)

-Bizzle for productivity and green ginger tea

-Anniversary party (our little neighbors have been married for 60 years!)

-yoga (todayโ€™s an off day, but I need to stretch!)

-taking Christmas decorations down ๐Ÿ™

-dinner (not sure what yet)

Hope you have a very happy Saturday!

Much love,

G$

Something to do: Stop by and wish my lovely friend Heather a Happy Birthday ๐Ÿ˜€

I always hate taking down the tree! This year the husband and I missed it so much, we got another (non-Christmas) tree to put in its place! haha It just looks bare without anything there:(
That Indian dish looks great! We had Indian food last night too.
    Have a great day!

Yep taking down the Christmas decorations sucks. I did it today, I liked my decorations this year, they were fun, I got a pink tree!! Your t-shirt is cool, where did you get it? It looks like I have a date tonight!! My plan for the prince arriving this year is looking like it’s moving in the right direction. Yeah!

    • Fitnessista on January 2, 2010 at 11:44 am

a pink tree?! that sounds like my dream tree!
my shirt is from victoria’s secret, it’s the collegiate pink collection.
whoo hoo! sending good date vibes your way ๐Ÿ˜€

    Hi Fitnessista,
Can you do a post (or email me) about maca? I just bought some today because I read it was good for hormone balance. However, there’s a lot of information on the internet that says it increases testosterone, which can lead to all sorts of problems for women. I’d love to know what you think. Thanks!

    • Fitnessista on January 2, 2010 at 11:43 am

      hey kim,
      here’s some info on maca:
      http://www.macaroot.com/benefits/index.html
i think it’s wonderful for you, but anything in excess is going to cause problems. i just try to have a little sprinkle every day ๐Ÿ˜€

  10. Nicci@NiftyEats on January 2, 2010 at 11:47 am

We ended up last minute not doing a tree, but all the other decorations I put up were a drag to take down. It’s a workout in itself!

  11. Lindsay on January 2, 2010 at 12:11 pm

I’m the same way! Our tree is outside this year and is super healthy in the cold air, so it’s staying up ( just lights) till it starts dying! I don’t care if Christmas is over, it’s pretty!

  12. Lee on January 2, 2010 at 12:13 pm

We watched The Hangover last night too!

  13. Susan on January 2, 2010 at 12:26 pm

Thanks Gina, I’ll check out victoria secret online for the shirt, we don’t have the store here, bummer!! I’m hoping the date will be fun. Have a great day and hope you get all your jobs done and enjoy the anniversary party.

  14. Paola on January 2, 2010 at 12:38 pm

I envied you because you put up the Xmas decorations way earlier than me, I expected you to outlast me in keeping ’em up too!!
I am going for one straight month of decorations being around: up on Dec 7th (as I said, tradition in Milano), down on Jan 6th… so I am savoring the last few days of it!!!

    • Fitnessista on January 2, 2010 at 12:49 pm

that’s awesome, live it up!!! ๐Ÿ˜€

  15. chrysta on January 2, 2010 at 1:05 pm

aawww!! I know its so sad! Im starting to take my decorations down now too and my place seems so empty now. aahh well! On to new things i guess! That is one tasty lookin breakfast cookie too girl! Love it! Have a wonderful day!

  16. Paige on January 2, 2010 at 1:28 pm

    Hey Gina!

I love your tree- I would be sad to take it down too.

I have kind of a random question for you ๐Ÿ™‚
I’ve been really interested in trying Zumba, but it isn’t offered anywhere near I live. I was thinking of buying the Zumba dvds from the Zumba website, but they’re pretty pricey and I wasn’t sure how good they were. Since you teach Zumba, I was just wondering if you had tried these dvds and if you would reccomend them? Thanks so much! ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. Mama Pea on January 2, 2010 at 1:39 pm

I KNOW! My house is SO boring with all the Christmas down now. My tree was just starting to smell good too ๐Ÿ™ I think there’s got to be away to incorporate tiny white lights into my indoor decor.

    Have a great day!!!

  18. Katie on January 2, 2010 at 1:52 pm

Yum save me some Indian food!

    Katie

  19. Shelby on January 2, 2010 at 1:57 pm

I’m so sad that the decorations are coming down! We might just leave the outdoor christmas lights up though..because we’re too lazy to take them down ๐Ÿ˜‰

  20. Jenna on January 2, 2010 at 2:01 pm

After seeing Indian food on your blog oh so much I really think it is time for me to try it soon!!!

    • Fitnessista on January 2, 2010 at 2:55 pm

yes it is! do it, haha ๐Ÿ˜€

  21. Jenny on January 2, 2010 at 2:21 pm

Taking down the decorations is definitely sad…it seems like the holidays are gone in the blink of an eye!

Isn’t great to have foodgasms over almost every meal you make? I hope we never get bored of delicious and nutritious eats!

    • Fitnessista on January 2, 2010 at 2:54 pm

i don’t think that’s possible! especially with all of the fun healthy new things to try ๐Ÿ˜€

  22. Jess @ Jessica Is Getting Fit on January 2, 2010 at 4:33 pm

Since we were gone this past week (and pretty much since the 23rd) the hubs asked me if we could keep our tree up until next weekend. I wasn’t about to argue! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  23. Lauren @ eater not a runner on January 2, 2010 at 4:41 pm

LOVE indian food, I think I could have it every day as well ๐Ÿ™‚

  24. Brittany on January 2, 2010 at 4:54 pm

I hate taking down Christmas decorations- the feeling is similar to coming back to reality after a vacation. Boo!

Indian food and The Hangover sounds like the perfect evening.

Hope you are doing well Miss Gina, I mean G$.

  25. Leah on January 2, 2010 at 5:35 pm

Im supposed to take my decorations down today, but Im kind of avoiding it. Im going to miss looking at them!
I LOVE indian food! My boyfriend isnt supposed to eat spicy foods, which was devastating to me, since now we cant go out for indian food anymore! ๐Ÿ™

  26. Lisa on January 2, 2010 at 5:39 pm

We took our decorations down this morning; I told the kiddos we weren’t going anywhere till it was done! Indian food looks scrumptious as usual.

  27. kristi (sweet cheeks) on January 2, 2010 at 6:10 pm

If it were up to me, the decorations would definitely stay up all year round. So much more festive. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  28. Gracie on January 2, 2010 at 6:28 pm

Aaaaand I’m officially craving a chocolatey breakfast cookie. YUM!:)

  29. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on January 2, 2010 at 6:28 pm

Choc for breakfast sounds good, any day to me ๐Ÿ™‚
And popcorn with choc chips…girl. I have been having a handful or more! of that for the past few months. That, and raw balls. twss! The crunchy popcorn with choc and sometimes a sprinkle of cinn hits the spot for me, always!

Got your card in the mail today…thank you!!!!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚
I just posted it! Sorry it didnt make my card compilation post but it didnt arrive til today and as luck would have it, I did that post yesterday. But I gotcha in!

  30. Vanessa (Last Night's Leftovers) on January 2, 2010 at 6:52 pm

I had to take all of the Christmas decorations at work today. So sad.

  31. elizabeth on January 2, 2010 at 6:58 pm

my family definitely keeps our tree up til about valentines day ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Fitnessista on January 2, 2010 at 7:15 pm

      will they adopt me? hahah

  32. EmJay on January 2, 2010 at 7:42 pm

We had to take our decorations down on Thursday ๐Ÿ™ It made me really sad since we usually have them up till the Epiphany at least, but we were getting a new ginormous TV over the mantel and they had to be moved.
Our tree stays up until we decide to stop being lazy and take it down, haha. It’s fake, so it lasts as long as we want it to. A lot of people don’t like fake trees, but you don’t miss the smell all that much, and there’s much less vacuuming/sweeping to be done after you take it down (fewer shedded needles).
I must try your popcorn sometime- it looks so much more scrumptious than normal, overbuttered, oversalted popcorn.
    Happy New Year!

    • Fitnessista on January 2, 2010 at 8:34 pm

i’m all about the fake trees, too. that’s what bath and body works balsam candles are for ๐Ÿ™‚

  33. Tara on January 2, 2010 at 8:40 pm

Haha I agree keep the decoration around! But I suppose that is part of what makes the holiday season so special!
I’ve never had Indian food, but glad you enjoyed it! It certainly looked yummy! Long list of things to do hope everything got done, but most importantly I hope you got the yoga in!! Hehe relaxing is soo important =] Have a nice evening <3

    • Fitnessista on January 2, 2010 at 9:18 pm

yoga is the one thing that didn’t happen :/

  34. Heather McD (Heather Eats Almond Butter) on January 2, 2010 at 9:38 pm

Oh my gosh, thanks so much for the birthday wishes sweet Gina! I love that picture of us.

I took all of our Christmas decorations down yesterday. Very sad as well. Our living room look so empty without the tree, and I miss all the white lights. Oh well, Christmas 2010 will be here before we know it, and if the Pilot isn’t around next year, you can drop by anytime and enjoy our tree with us in Nashville. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope you got everything done today. Sounded like it was a busy one.
P.S. Your roti always looks soooo good!

  35. Suzanne on January 2, 2010 at 11:10 pm

I have the plot ready for your next flip camera post…

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ou7iEXckF5k&feature=related

…think you could recruit the pilot? In the alternative, I feel like two trusting girlfriends could totally pull this off as well.

I also like the concept (and videos concerning) anti-gravity/aerial yoga. It looks like so much fun.

Have you ever tried any recipes for home-made naan? I’ve been been wanting to try/afraid of spending dough on dough that sucks/afraid that it will actually be awesome and then I won’t be able to stop making (and, therefore, eating) it!

  36. Gena on January 3, 2010 at 8:36 am

Happy New Year, gorgeous girl!!! I took my own tree down yesterday and was super duper bummed out. I’m sending you so much love in this new decade and hope to see you soon. xoxo

  37. Jessica @ Going Off Birth Control Pills on January 3, 2010 at 7:37 pm

What did you think of The Hangover? My boyfriend and I watched it New Years Day. We loved it! He picked up the unrated version which I am sure was much more raunchy than the regular. We didn’t mind though ๐Ÿ˜‰ Haha!

    • Fitnessista on January 3, 2010 at 7:49 pm

i’ve seen it before, but was happy to watch it again- it’s hilarious!

  38. Amber@theminimalistdiaries on January 5, 2010 at 2:42 pm

I get so sad taking down decorations. Luckily I have friends staying with me and after 2 days of hearing us complain about taking it down, they surprised us and took off all the decorations and took the tree out! Not only did I not have to drag that thing to the garbage – I didn’t have to go through the sadness of taking it down.
