A newfound fake love
Hey hey hey ๐ How was your day? Hope it was fabulous <3
Thank you so much for this morningโs discussion on interview tips and for all of your good vibes! I thinkhope it went pretty well ๐ I had to teach a Zumba song and a weights training song for some of the other instructors and it was a lot of fun. I was a little rusty with my Zumba โitโs been a while!- but think I got back in the groove ok, and had no prob with the weights portion. Should hear for sure by tomorrowโฆ. *fingers crossed!*
The Pilot greeted me with flowers after the interview:
+ a basil plant!! (He knows me so well)
Today was crazy productive, from the interview until my late afternoon acupuncture nap. Side note: when I was first falling asleep in acupuncture, I had a dream that I was falling off a cliff and JERKED AWAKE. (Probably scared the people around me) Doesnโt it mean something when you dream that? Any dream analysts out there? ๐
Lunch was legendary.
My raw Caesar salad with capers, brown rice toast croutons and some of thisโฆ
Fakinโ bacon!!
I have pretty much hated on faux meat products for the past couple of years. The ingredient lists are scary and I think if someone wants to move towards a plant-based diet, itโs advisable to go with whole foods rather than stuff that was created in a science lab.
And then, I had tempeh bacon in LA at Real Food Daily. I blame them for this. (It wasnโt even my meal, it was the Pilotโs and I stole so many tempeh bacon bites from his fettuccini)
This morning, I had to race to Sunflower Market just to get some tempeh bacon! I read the ingredient list (which was pretty stanky), still bought it, and relished every tasty bite.
After the feast of feasts, it was macaroon-making time!!
Two flavors:
Mocha-roons
and Meyer Lemon Lavender
(I gave the Pilot a bite of dough, to which he said โThat is f-king deliciousโ) ๐
Post-acupuncture snackage:
Jalapeno-cilantro hummus + carrots and bell pepper
Itโs gym time over here, but have a wonderful night! See ya in the morning with โShow Me Your Fitโ ๐
xoxo
Gina
Something to do: OpenSky followers, check out todayโs promo in your email if youโve been looking for a nighttime moisturizer and eye cream. Iโve been using the Madara products for the past month and have felt a mayjah difference in my skin. Theyโre organic, smell heavenly and are usually very expensive, so hit up the deal if you would like ๐

Easter Desserts (They all look amazing but that black and white angel food cake is calling my name)
The Pilot is so sweet โ flowers and basil! Iโm glad the interview went well.
I have to be a nosey nelly (sneaky Suzi?) and ask what Zumba song you used for your audition/interview??
My other question is โ are the opensky promos open to Canada yet or still just the US?
Iโm sure you rocked you interview and will be getting good news tomorrow!
i went old school and did this one, with the same choreography: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJ6fypJCr0s
still just us- hopefully theyโll get on the canadian bus soon!
thank you! xo
Gotta love a Kumbia Kings Cumbia!! I love that song, donโt blame you at all for going old school.
I figured as much but thought Iโd check anyway, Iโm dying to get in on some of your promos!
i hope to be whipping up some macaroons this weekend or early this week! so excited.
iโm glad the interview went well, youโve got nothing to worry about!
I just hope i have your talent, (beauty) and luck when i have to go for interviews like that!
I know everyone has been begging for itโฆ..but WHEN do we get the ROON recipe???? My mouth is watering!!!
when i get a book deal, no matter what kind of book it is, it will be in there ๐
Hmm. Is there a petition we can sign for this book deal? ๐ The Meyer Lemon Lavender sounds so good!
I highly recommend the tempeh bacon recipe from Vegan With A Vengeance! I think itโs the same one Isa included in Vegan Brunch. Either way, itโs delicious! No skanky ingredients here. I like to add a dash of maple syrup ๐
I second this! This is exactly what I was going to write in my comment! Her Tempeh Bacon recipe is incredible and pretty easy to make. ๐ It always disappears super fast so make a double batch because if youโre anything like meโฆyou wonโt be able to stop eating it!!!
Fingers crossed for you and the new job! ๐
good to know- i canโt wait to make it!
Hereโs a website for you dream analysis. http://dreammoods.com/cgibin/fallingdreams.pl?method=exact&header=dreamid&search=fallingintro Some of the explanations made me lol.
Pilot is so sweet; I wish I had a basil plant.
I know you did great with interview! Positivity vibes coming your way. ๐
I hope you get a book deal soon, so I can get that macaroon recipe! ๐
You should do a macroon giveaway (again) and I will win ๐ They look so tasty! I havent had once since HLS last summer ๐
I usually do those twitchy-leg-jerk-almost-but-not-quite-asleep kicks during the final relaxation of a yoga class. Kinda embarrassing.
Sending positive job vibes your way lady!
I agree, Fakinโ Bacon doesnโt have the best ingredient list but itโs definitely my favorite variety of tempeh. It tastes delicious and there are so many great recipes to make with it. I love it cooked with greens as well as in BLTs. ๐
YAH for flowersโฆ..good job on the interview!!
Madara productsโฆI have used them in the past, just some samples and they do smell wonderful!
Meyer Lemon Lavender macaroonsโฆwow, bet your house smells amazing. I love lavender and in cookies or teas, itโs such a delicate, unique, wonderful flavor.
I have not had faux meat products in years. I went gangbusters on Moringstar products about 10 yrs ago and think I odโed on them. lol Glad you found something you like!
Oh wowโฆ the macaroons look amazing! *wiping drool off keyboard*
I canโt wait until Open Sky is available in Canada, although my wallet may be happier as it is now ๐
Best of luck to you tomorrow, hope its good news!
I feel ya on the faux meat thing. I have had tempeh bacon before and it is pretty amazing. You can actually make it yourself using tempeh (which by itself is less scary ingredient list) and add maple syrup and liquid smoke and cook in skillet on the stove, itโs amazing as well. Every time I see the macaroons my mouth waters.
I have hated on fake meat products too for a very long time. The only thing holding me back from a 100% vegan diet I think. Many years ago I worked out like a maniac and ate a lot of โfakeโ diet foods. Once I went to whole foods, eliminating everything processed, I totally got rid of all things tofu meat (I went veg when I was 12 back and forth). However, I do love tempeh and have recently come to find more products with better ingredient lists. I didnโt eat packaged veggie burgers for like 7 years but recently found one that was good!
Very sweet of the Pilot to bring you a basil plant, I would have swoonedโฆoh the flowers were sweet too ๐
Mmm jalapeรฑo-cilantro hummus?! Is that store bought or a recipe? It looks amazing ๐
And way to go on the interview! Hope you get it!
Iโve always wanted to make/try macaroons. You make them all the time and they look so good.
i need a lemon lavender macaroon. NOW!
Does the tempeh โbaconโ actually taste like real bacon? I imagine the texture is way different because obviously it is NOT made of porkey succulence!
i def want to live to 100 . great article. ๐
Tempeh is actually the healthiest ways to consume soy. I donโt know what is in fakin bacon, though. I donโt think we have it in Canada. I eat the Turtle Island foods kind normallyโฆ But in any case, unless the company is processing their soy using hexane (you could always phone and find out) tempeh is A-OK in my books!
Aw, Pilotโฆnice work. (Basil is the way to my heart, too, Gina ๐ )
Youโre gonna have to stop posting about the Pilot or I am gonna fall in love with him! ๐
Like others have said you could easily make your own tempeh bacon. Iโve also seen some people make eggplant bacon in the dehydrator. Not sure where I first saw it.
swoon away, my friend!
iโve made eggplant bacon quite a few times, but tempeh is totally different! definitely a more meaty texture
fingers crossed for you! how sweet the basil plant! that is the perfect good job gift:)
For some reason, the Pilotโs comment about your macaroon dough made me snort with laughter! Sometimes a well-chosen F-bomb conveys more than a thousand other words!
haha i couldnโt agree more ๐
Iโve got my fingers crossed for you Gina โ they would be the lucky ones if you were hired! You are awesome!
Falling off a cliff represents inner fears and obstacles and your fear of losing control. Hope this helps! xo
that is definitely my life right now ๐
iโve seen that bacon and have been so hesitant to try it. Looked funky, but donโt they all? hehe. I just migh have to swing by whole foods now. Thanks Gina!
Back in the day, I used to have dreams where I was falling and would wake up abruptly. It was during a period in my life when I felt like everything in my life was unsettled and I had a lot of decisions to make. Once I got my path straight, I stopped having the weird dreams ๐
that would totally make sense- everything is up in the air right now!
I love fakin bacon but hate the ingredients as well. So I made my own- in the dehydrator! It still uses tempeh, and the marinade is all ingredients youโll probably already have in your pantry. So maybe not the most natural thing in the world, but it doesnโt come from a package! ๐
Hereโs the linky: http://cookbakenibble.com/2011/03/18/make-it-homemade-tempeh-bacon/

awesome, thank you for the recipe!
Aww the pilot is such a sweetheart ๐
Aww thatโs so nice of the Pilot! Iโm so glad your interview went well. I know what you mean about feeling like youโre falling and jerking awake โ itโs so annoying and unsettling!!
ahh im jealous that basil plant looks so healthy! glad you interview went well ill keep my fingers crossed ๐
I hope you get the job!
thank you!!
Is the tempeh better than eggplant bacon? The pilot is looking like a little boy in that picture! Heโs so thoughtful.
itโs a close tie.. i think i need to make some eggplant bacon to figure it out ๐
haha he looks so cute ๐
Yay, Iโm glad everything went well in the interview! The Pilotโs so thoughtful, especially with the basil plant, haha.
ahh so nice of the pilot, thatโs awesome!
those MOCAroons look delicious! that was so sweet of your husband, basil plant!!
I love your husbands comment about the macaroons, great comment and a lovely compliment.
Oh snap jalepeno cilantro hummus?! Did you make this or is a available at the store?? ๐
SidenoteโYour blog is hands down my fave, but I can I just say I extra love it when the pilot is homeโ Your posts seem to have this high on life, Iโm madly in love feel haha which just makes it all the more enjoyable to read. You guys are too cute ๐
trader joes!!
haha thank you ๐ things are definitely so much better when heโs around
I am loving all things lemon right now. Those โroonsโ look amazing!
gotta love a guy with flowers!! ๐ hope all went well. also, what happened to the Dance Trance Tucson business you bought and were running?
still own it- weโre actually moving to a bigger studio so are on hiatus this month
yay glad to hear!! ๐
oh I hope all went with the interview, best wishes!
The pilot is too cute with the flowers and that basil plant! FYI I added a new strength workout I would love for you to see! ๐
Your roons always look like domination! I think basil plant is adorbs. I have seen the tempeh bacon around but never have ventured b/c I was nervous. Must try it now! ๐
Hi there,
I have been following your blog for a while and LOVE it. So fun! I have a question. I just received a Lululemon gift card and I have only been in one once and donโt know much about the clothing. I am a runnerโฆlots of miles ๐ And wondered if you could point me in the right direction for some shorts or a top that you think work well.
Thanks so much!
check out the run speed shorts or groovy run shorts- i like the groovy because theyโre a little long
as far as tops go, you would love the tech tank ๐
xoxo
Im sending good luck vibes love! I hope you got the job, I could not see why you would not ; ) you rock!!!
Have a great day!! xoxo <3
Tempeh bacon is the only meat imposter Iโll eat, too. Its just too tasty to pass up and tempeh is a lot less processed than other meat fakesters, such as boca burgers or tofu pups, or anything filled with soy protein isolate.
Processed meat really freaks me out too but then thereโs those few times I get a hankering for a tofurkey sammy or something in the store just sounds too good to be true for a fake meat and I try it out. Usually, I was right and it was too good to be true and I never buy it again but you live you learn!
As for those meyer lemon lavender macaroons. Oh. My. God. Sounds heavenly. You havenโt perhaps posted a recipe for that have you?
Every time I have acupuncture treatments I have that fallingndream happen! Maybe itโs common!
Iโm glad your interview went well! Ps, when my husband drops an f bomb about something awesome I made, I love itโฆ.highest compliment, lol!
