Anybody heard any good jokes lately?

Hi everybody!

 pilot

You’ve got the pilot here. I hope this finds you well. I’m doing pretty good but of course I’ve noticed a little bit of discontent in your usually cheerful reading and I was hoping to talk to you guys and shed a little light on a couple things so you can focus once again on what you love – living happy and healthy lives.

Guys/girls, I don’t know if you know this or not, but my name’s Tom. I’m telling you this because history’s taught us that people with single syllable names have always been a reliable voice of reason. Stop thinking of names from history and just consider a little of what I have to say 🙂 I think you’ll find from reading this and past pilot posts (PPP’s) that I like all of you guys and that I’m genuinely humbled and thankful every time I get to talk to such a large group of intelligent, passionate folks. So no hard feelings about any of this stuff, right? Come’on – you wouldn’t be mad at a guy named Tom, would you? Stop thinking of Tom’s you don’t like and please, continue reading.

You all have probably got to know my wife Gina (a.k.a. the Fitnessista – fun fact: pronounced like “fashionista” in case you thought you had been reading fitness tips from your “sista” 😉 ). So you probably know she’s a loving and caring person that probably actually over thinks her postings so she doesn’t offend anyone. She takes so much pleasure in seeing you guys happy whether or not that’s a result of the tidbits she offers up on here. I can tell she’s extremely bothered by the fact that the whole April Fool’s day joke has turned a little nasty (and I’m trying to be a good hubby and clear the air so I can see her smiling again).

Here’s the deal, folks. Gina wrote her little post based on the fact that she would not normally eat a pulled pork sandwich and fries. You would be shocked if she did! Well, I know I would because that’s not how she eats on a regular basis. Ready for the cliché, “sitcom” caveat: NOT THAT THERE’S ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT 🙂 She doesn’t mean you shouldn’t eat pulled pork if that works for you and it’s what you like. Before going pescatarian, it was one of her favorites. Is anybody really offended by that? Really…realllllly……realllllllllly? If anybody’s allowed to be offended, it should be me: IT WAS MY PULLED PORK SANDWICH!!! And guess what, I wasn’t embarrassed in the least. I love ‘em and while I know it’s important to eat most food types in moderation, this was way worth it…and delicious.

I know these issues mean a lot to you all and things might have just gotten a little out of hand but we’re all friends here. There’s no reason to get up in arms at each other. I mean, I wake up everyday and go to a job where me and my little 30,000lb aircraft fly 400mph at 100ft off the ground where only a tiny lapse in concentration or malfunction away from a very bad day and I don’t take daily life this serious. In fact, I’m able to be relatively sane thanks to the levity of my charming and often hilarious wife. So jokes are good, right guys?

081107-F-7823A-164.JPG

Look, it’s all cool. I still love all you guys (and so does Gina, of course) and nobody has any grudges. So, let’s press from here and leave this misunderstanding in the past. If you still have any heartburn over it, come on down to visit and I will proudly share my Smokin’ Pig Bar-b-que with you while the Fitnessista breaks out the wine.

tom and i

Cheers,

The Pilot

Well Tom, now I respect you even more than I did before (which was already a lot – especially the fact that you serve in our military just like my brother, a fellow Airman). This truly just shows how much you love your wife and care about her happiness. I agree with everything you wrote – often times people take jokes, sarcasm, and white lies at face value and flip out over them when really they are just meant to be humorous and provide some light entertainment for the day. Lots of good vibes and love to Gina.. I read your posts every day and they never fail to either make me laugh, get me pumped to exercise or learn something new!

  2. Kate on April 1, 2010 at 11:01 pm

I read The Fitnessista every single day, and thanks to Gina’s witty, insightful, caring, and sensible ways, I made some real changes in my eating, exercise, and general lifestyle. I just wanted to chime in here and let both Tom and Gina know that I greatly respect both of them – Tom for his service in the Air Force and his obvious devotion to his wife, and Gina for her amazing strength of will and dedication to living the best and healthiest life possible, and being an inspiration to us all. If it were not for her posts on loving our bodies, how to exercise properly, and her inventive meals, I can tell you all that I wouldn’t feel as good about myself as I have since reading her blog. So to all of you who called her “obsessive” or had a stroke over her PRETENDING to have eaten white bread, think for a moment about how many people she has affected so positively, and learn how to take a joke, especially on freakin’ April Fool’s Day, of all the times!! Sorry to have written a novel here…Thank you Gina, for all the wonderful inspiration you have given me, and know that another person is most certainly not going anywhere.

Apparently Alicia and I were thinking the same things at the same time, haha

    • Alicia on April 1, 2010 at 11:13 pm

      Great minds think alike 🙂

  4. Patricia on April 1, 2010 at 11:03 pm

Gina – totally sucks that your joke turned sour. I love how cute and fun and bubbly your blog is. Also, right on pilot (can I still call you that?) – I too enjoy a pulled pork sandwich. Moderation, right? In my world, moderation includes pork… Maybe even tonight.

  5. ag on April 1, 2010 at 11:04 pm

Sigh.. I want my own Pilot. 😉

  6. Lindsay on April 1, 2010 at 11:06 pm

This is the best blog that I thoroughly enjoy reading everyday!!!! I don’t eat like you, but I love your passion for food, fitness advice & other fun tidbits throughout your day. You weren’t attacking anyone or their food choices, it was obviously a joke. Some people get offended by the way you smile at them, so don’t let it get you down.

  7. Allison R. on April 1, 2010 at 11:10 pm

Okay Gina- I’ve always had a *wee little* crush on the pilot, but this tipped me over the edge. Please do not be offended 😉

      totally allowed. he’s amazing 🙂

  8. Brittney on April 1, 2010 at 11:10 pm

I am about to bust up in here with more info than anyone likely wants.

    Here goes:

I am a professional blogger. it is a blessing that I get paid to do what I love. That said, I walked out on my past problogging job at a tv station due to mean comments. (I was called a racist:( )

Thrlere is SO MUCH benefit to blogging: community, support, writing release, awesome people. But when a blogger puts herself out there, the way brave Gina has, it can be a very difficult thing. When people agree or cheer or celebrate what you have written it is wonderful. Because you have the best of intentions! But when people disagree they are more likely to speak up! I am guilty of this too. I read a blogger daily, but only speak up when I disagree. What is up with that?

It is he nature pd the Internet. And it can be devestatingly brutal. Text on a screen leaves so much room for interpretation! Anyway. As someone who has been blogging since 1999 (really), I write this to say I have been in gina’s shoes. And I have also been the dissenting commenter. And usually neither means any harm.

Y’all my job is to read blogs for a living, and fitnessista is a shining example of a GREAT one. Transparency, sharing, loads of info and endless inspiration. That takes vulnerability, and vulnerability sometimes means hurt feelings. It is all part of the blog game.

If I want to tell Gina anything it is this: you’re blog is alive with specialness. This will cause heartache. But know that as painful as it can be, these experiences grow us.

Just don’t give up, G$. I KNOW how hard it can be. It hurts like hell, but you are doing AMAZING work.

Off to get some white bread and french fries… 😉

  9. Samantha on April 1, 2010 at 11:12 pm

haahhha dang it I thought I was learning from my sista! That’s too funny!!!

  10. Meryl on April 1, 2010 at 11:12 pm

    Gina!

I have been reading your blog for about a year now and this is my first time commenting… I am usually more comfortable sitting behind the scenes, but I think you need some encouragement and this is worth coming out of the woodworks for 🙂

I want you to know that you have been one of the biggest inspirations in my weight loss journey. I have lost 30 pounds in the last year- 10 more to go! your blog has given me invaluable information- much of which I contribute to finally being able to lose the weight! my food has become so much cleaner since finding your blog (hello, egg white puffs and salad beasts) and I am totally, abolutely in love with Zumba- something I had ever even heard of before your blog- three times a week 🙂 You really do make a difference!

Yes, you may have responded a little harshly regarding the other blog- but I am sure you know that and wish you could do it a little differently if you could go back. the bottom line is that you cant- and in the big scheme of things, it’s really not that big of a deal 🙂

this too shall pass! and you will continue to inspire people just like you inspired me. You consitently make a difference in the lives of others with your blog platform, the occassional drama is a small price to pay.

    you rock, chic!

    love, Meryl.

  11. Katelyn on April 1, 2010 at 11:14 pm

Hey Gina, a couple of years ago when I first started reading food blogs I checked out hundreds and faithfully read probably about 50ish. Life has gotten busier so I don’t have time to read blogs as much anymore. Yours is the ONLY ONE I still read. You are amazing-and don’t you forget that!

  12. Brittney on April 1, 2010 at 11:15 pm

I wrote all that on my iPhone. Bow down to my skills!

  13. Brittney on April 1, 2010 at 11:19 pm

P.S. Hang onto the pilot with both hands.

  14. Danielle in Australia! on April 1, 2010 at 11:20 pm

Just wanted to add my bit, Gina you come across as someone who is warm and funny and kind hearted. In other words a genuine person, anyone who didn’t get your humour needs to lighten up. By the way, your pilot is *almost* as wonderful as my husband… God must’ve made them from similar moulds! What a blessing your man is!

  15. Sara on April 1, 2010 at 11:22 pm

Don’t let the haters get to you Gina, do your thang! People will always look for ways to attack others (even about things that are supposed to be a joke) because they’re unhappy with themselves. You’re gorgeous & your husband’s super nice so people can refrain from nasty comments!! Keep up your good work inspiring others to be healthier!

  16. Christy on April 1, 2010 at 11:30 pm

    Gina and the Pilot,
I have been reading your blog for a few months now and I think it is blantantly obvious that you are an extremely kind and caring person. I think it is also very obvious that you are not trying to push your “food passions/habits” on anyone – you simply are telling your audience what works for you. As a reader of many blogs, I respect the writers perspective, even if it is different from my own.

I thought your April Fool joke was cute and very you! I hope that you don’t let few judgemental people discourage you. I, personally, have learned a lot from your blog and greatly appreciate your willingness to share your food info, excercises, etc.

The Pilot is adorably supportive and I think it was really nice that he wrote this post.

You are a great influence on a lot of people!
    Thanks for your hardwork,
    Christy

Ahhhh you two are the cutest 🙂 Handsome Pilot: Well said! Gina: People can be terrible. Don’t let Debby-downers ruin your day..you do a darn fine job and we love you! Your blog is the first one I read in the AM and I look forward to your awesome workouts and creative food ideas. Salad Beast – love it! xoxo

thanks pilot. hope she feels better soon.

Gina you are an amazing woman!

  19. Amanda on April 1, 2010 at 11:49 pm

You da man, pilot! love your blog, gina, i read it every day. and i loved your april fool’s joke, as well as jokes some other blogger’s posted as well. you continue to inspire me, and some of my dishes! keep at it!

  20. Ariffa on April 1, 2010 at 11:49 pm

I liked the april fools post, it sucks that some people take life that seriously. you’re amazing Gina! and you have one awesome husband! =]

  21. Katie on April 1, 2010 at 11:57 pm

This is a great post. Very well written, Pilot.

Gina, don’t let negative people get you down. You are an encouragement to so many people.

  22. Jenn (eating bender) on April 1, 2010 at 11:57 pm

Well said Pilot!!! Er, I mean, Tom 🙂 You really got me with that one syllable thing!

Gina, I hope you’re feeling better and that you had some wine for me tonight. <3 you!

  23. Liz on April 1, 2010 at 11:57 pm

Pilot is such an amazing hubby, Gina you are so lucky. I think you guys make such a cute couple.

I was in no way offended from your April Fools fun, you actually had me going with the pulled pork… but then the cookie diet brought the scam into light. I thought it was funny.

Lastly… I cannot pronounce fitnessista like fashionista, so Gina you are forever doomed to be “fitness sista” in my mind.

  24. christin on April 1, 2010 at 11:59 pm

this was so sweet! i didn’t take offense to the post as i eat pulled pork as often as i want. i don’t expect fitnessista (never realized that it could be mistaken for fitness sista–but it was fun to say!)to eat the same way as me or anyone else. it’s HER (and yours for the day) blog and she’s allowed to post whatever she wants. not every agrees with each other and that’s what makes us human, but gina does a great job at being really positive no matter what…which is more than i could ever do! yall are too cute!

p.s. even though you revealed your name, i hope you’ll still be referred to as pilot–it was mysterious as i tried to guess your name. (in a non-creepy way, of course.)

    • Christie on April 2, 2010 at 1:51 am

totally with Christin here. I’m going to pretend I don’t know your name because you still feel like your first name should be “pilot” 🙂

  25. allison on April 2, 2010 at 12:15 am

ah! this whole time i’ve been reading it as fitness sista! whatever, it’s still a great name =) so funny that people have different interpretations.

i never saw the mean comments nor your response, but i love your blog and i thought your joke was funny. it just shows that everything is open to interpretation. when i first started my blog, i got a very rude and ignorant comment when i said i would be committing to “doing something” rather than “taking something away” for Lent. i realized then and there that i was going to have issues with the comments. take them with a grain of salt. just brush them off and move on. you clearly have an amazing husband and wonderful readership. best of luck!

  26. Chantal on April 2, 2010 at 12:17 am

Couple things I noticed because of this post:

    a) Tom, you’re hilarious, and I look forward to reading FPPs (Future Pilot Posts) if you ever have the time or if Gina needs a break
    b) I’m embarrassed to say that I’m one of those people who initially thought that it was “fitness sista” as opposed to how you’re actually suppose to say it
    c) You made me realized I’ve never actually met a Tom I didn’t like, and apparently, I’ve known quite a few!

Love to you both and Happy Easter! You guys are awesome 🙂

  27. Kim M. on April 2, 2010 at 12:17 am

Awww, what a nice hubber. It really is laughable that anyone was offended by that post. I read it first thing after I got to work this morning and had a good laugh, which was very much needed. I was so confused at first, but as soon as I saw the cookie diet, I remembered it was April 1. Plus, it was a nice reminder to watch out for any joksters the rest of the day. I hope you’ve brushed it off by now because we get you, Gina. At least I think most of us do. 🙂

  28. seriously on April 2, 2010 at 12:17 am

    Gina,

Ha wow what a day and I’m probably the only person here who’s real name is April..lol. This is my least favorite month cause I always think people are saying my name or talking to me when they’re just referring to a day in the month!

Anyways I hope you feel better tomorrow as it will be April 2nd and you have 364 more days to think of next year’s joke. 🙂

  29. meg on April 2, 2010 at 12:21 am

Hey Gina! I’ve never commented on your blog before, but I read it every day, and I love the tips and product recommendations (like gluten-free millet bread and mung bean pasta-yum!) But I also love your blog because you always have such an upbeat and positive attitude, and your passion for fitness and health is so inspiring! I thought your joke was funny (though I knew you couldn’t be serious about the cookie diet!) Some people just take things too seriously, it’s sad that you can’t even make an April fool’s joke without people getting offended. Anyway, love you and your blog! Your husband is so sweet-and Tom is a great name!

  30. M on April 2, 2010 at 12:21 am

I knew that it was like “fashionista” but I like calling you my “fitness- sista” better, makes me feel like I have a fitness sister that gets all the healthy things I want to eat. 🙂

I love your blog, love your recipes, eats, fitness advice and all your inspirational motivation. You’re amazing and don’t let this one person bring you down, seriously who cares!

This was a great post, Tom! Thanks! I was totally cracking up at the “IT WAS MY PULLED PORK SANDWHICH” line. SO funny!!

  31. Megan on April 2, 2010 at 12:23 am

Hi Gina! I’ve never posted before, but I’ve started reading your blog in the last few months, and I’m so glad that I have!! I was thinking recently, that I really should TELL you that you have a new, dedicated reader who thinks you do an amazing job!! I actually missed your joke post, and only opened up today to apologies and a sad Gina 🙁 It honestly makes my heart ache to think of you so worried and upset about a few comments!! Your joke was cute (and funny), and obviously didn’t contain ANYTHING other than good humour. The fact that you are married to someone who doesn’t eat the same way as you should be proof enough that you eat for YOU, not to preach to others. The thing is, you can`t please everyone…nor should you stress your poor self out trying to!! You can never be liked by everyone! But the most important part of all this is that THIS IS YOUR BLOG!!! That means you can make whatever jokes you like, and if people read something they don`t like, they`re perfectly entitled to stop reading! I`m actually surprised someone would use their time to make you feel bad about celebrating April Fools day!

Whew. I`ll have to take a leaf from your book to say `speech ovah`. See, I love your blog so much, I`m trying to be more like you!! Um, I did have a point. It was that I love you Gina! I hope you have an amazing life laughing with your adorable husband! (I`ll be sure to come read about it)

  32. Amanda (Two Boos Who Eat) on April 2, 2010 at 12:40 am

aw Tom, what a sweet post. I never took offense to the post, I knew it was a joke all along! Some people just can’t take a joke, man. I hope Gina feels better soon. I hate that she’s feeling bummed. 🙁 You’re a good husband for wanting to make her smile.

  33. LEM on April 2, 2010 at 12:40 am

I`m confused, how do you pronounce fitnessista??

  34. laurie on April 2, 2010 at 12:45 am

What a sweet post–you obviously love and support your wife. I have been following this post for awhile (I follow several blogs and this one and Peas and thank you are by far my favorites. I save them to read “last” as a treat–I know–nerdy!) When I saw all of this controversy I went back to read Megan’s comments, and I was actually really suprised because I didn’t think she was mean at all–it was actually quite interesting. I actually was a little shocked at Gina’s response because I didn’t expect her to respond in such a defensive way. In fact,I thought you might even agree with a lot of what she was saying. But it is what it is–we are all human and obviously she hit a nerve with you –if you were not so passionate about your blog, you wouldn’t get defensive or hurt–it is your baby (and god knows if someone said something about my son, i probably would only see red). It must be very difficult to put your heart and soul out there in the bloggy world and be judged for every comment or tweet. But I do think we grow from situations like this–you might look at the posts months from now and feel differently about what Megan said and what you said. i say keep writing this wonderful blog and keep your mind open to revisiting this one day when it all blows over. i always find that i grow from negative experiences by letting some time pass and then reflecting on how things went down, and how i could have reacted more constructively or differently. i think we all read blogs because we truly want to live better, happier lives. (i am not saying this to be patronizing! this is what i would say to my best friend if this happened to her!) I was happy to hear the pilot post (he is adorable), but everyone misses out when you don’t blog, Gina! I will continue to read your blog last! 🙂

  35. MagPieKnits on April 2, 2010 at 12:49 am

Gina, thanks for being here and helping to inspire me on my own journey to healthy, balanced living. It’s great to pick and choose what works for me (breakfast cookies, kale chips and egg puffs). You have a great attitude about life. Keep up the good work, on your terms and with that great sense of humor!

  36. Mari B on April 2, 2010 at 12:53 am

Hey Gina, I really like this blog and read it everyday. It’s even one of my homepage tabs. You have a great positive attitude and make really yummy looking food. I love fitness stuff and new food ideas and red wine 😀 so its a good fit.

It hurts to be attacked and I’m very sorry for you to have felt that way today especially over something so ridiculous as an April Fools joke! It’s a joke people! Sometimes people try for funny in print and it doesn’t come off right to some people. We all experience life through our own filters. Or maybe they are looking for an excuse to tear you down. It’s sad but you probably do make insecure people feel bad about themselves, just like looking at a fitness magazine or advertisement. Your life looks amazing. It’s hard not to be jealous 🙂

  37. Danielle (Coffee Run) on April 2, 2010 at 12:53 am

Gina, I’m sorry your innocent prank turned into a controversy 🙁 But, there’s always going to be someone, somewhere who doesn’t agree with you & is going to say something about it. It’s just the way the world is. You’re a genuine person & have a big heart which is why it bothered you but please know that you didn’t lose any readers. I still <3 your blog…and your hubby haha

^I hope you don't take that the wrong way 😉

  38. elyse on April 2, 2010 at 1:07 am

Gina, I love reading your blog daily and often check 3 or 4 times a day to see if you have anything new posted. You are awesome and please don’t leave bloggie world. The haters hate because they aren’t cool like you!

Tom, I think it is so awesome that you posted that. I can tell through your writing that you love Gina lots! Thanks for serving our country!

  39. Samantha on April 2, 2010 at 1:09 am

    Tom-
What a good man to step in and try to lighten the mood and stick up for your awesome wife. She is indeed a great gal (seemingly, as I only know her as “fitnessista on the web”) and genuinely good at heart. I didn’t see the joke until AFTER she apologized for it…as we’re stationed on Guam and your day is our night, etc. Personally…I found it a-amusing and b-your pork sandwich salivating. (I grew up on lexington style bbq in NC!)

Gina has given me tons of great advice both by way of the blog and in email. She’s a wonderful voice for the healthy and fitness industry and a source of inspiration and wisdom for those like myself, on a journey that’s very challenging and sometimes frustrating. It’s a shame that people wanted to cut deep on what should’ve been a “ha ha, gotcha” moment.

    Keep goin’ Gina…we love ya!

  40. Lisa on April 2, 2010 at 1:17 am

Man, some people just don’t know how to laugh. I used to work with a couple people who got fired for playing an April Fool’s joke. They had someone lay on a gurney and covered them with a blanket and had a nurse’s aid roll the “body” down to the morgue. Well, when she was in the elevator with the body the guy on the stretcher sat up and grabbed her. HILARIOUS! After she recovered from the terror she couldn’t stop laughing, and neither could anyone else that night. Somehow wind of it got to the wrong manager though and the two who planned it were fired a week later. Ridiculous. I guess there are always going to be those people out there who just don’t get the joke that the rest of us do, and more’s the pity for them. Keep doing what you do, Fitnessista, because your posts always bring a smile to my face. 🙂

  41. Bethany on April 2, 2010 at 1:23 am

Love this post, but find it sad that it had to be written. The whole situation is ridiculous..it was a JOKE! I can’t believe how that Megan person blew it out of proportion and over-analyzed it! ridiculous. Also, I noticed that people are a little mad about the comment Gina left on Megan’s blog..honestly, I thought it was funny. so what if it was a little snarky? Gina has the right to defend herself if someone is basically attacking her and a JOKE she made. And honestly, it wasn’t even an offensive joke. It was funny because the regular readers KNOW how she eats. I didn’t even think of it in a “OMGZ THIS FOOD IS BADZ” way, as the other blogger seemed to imply. Basically, it’s silly, and I love this blog. It has inspired me to eat healthier and step up my exercise. I heard a saying once that if you have a few haters, you have tons more people who love and support you =).
And lastly, I’m tired so hopefully this doesn’t come across as a big rambly mess.

  42. Amy on April 2, 2010 at 1:33 am

Hey Gina! I’m a lurker, but I had to come out and say that I LOVE your blog and I hope this doesn’t stop you from blogging. I think you have a real talent for it and you shouldn’t let people trying to stir up drama drag you down. I totally understand you getting upset — I would have reacted the same way if I’d been singled out in a “naughty bloggers” post. But tomorrow is a new day!

    • Fitnessista on April 2, 2010 at 11:08 am

      thank you, amy <3

  43. kari on April 2, 2010 at 1:37 am

    Thanks for the great post.

I can’t figure out how to make this as articulate as I’d like it to be, but basically I want to reiterate what’s already been said many times in these comments – I think your blog radiates positivity and you clearly embrace all sorts of dietary decisions (you recently cooked a whole chicken, for god’s sake). I follow several other healthy living blogs and feel that yours conveys one of the healthiest attitudes about body image and your own self-conception. I like that you don’t spend time explaining away indulgences and treats, and admit to having a glass of wine and a cookie now and then. Thanks for blogging.

(PS I dig your Spanglish :))

  44. Loddy on April 2, 2010 at 1:38 am

I’m going to be honest here, I had absolutely NO problem with the April Fool’s joke, in fact I thought it was fun and hilarious, but having your Pilot come to your rescue to set your readers straight is another thing. I’ve always continued to read your blog because of what a strong, healthy, motivated inspiring woman you portray yourself to be- it inspires me. But having your man come on your blog to defend you kind of surprises me. You’re so lucky to have a man who loves you enough to care about your blog readers and want to change your icky mood, but I come to this blog to read what YOU have to say, not your Pilot 🙂
    Take care Gina!

  45. Kelsey on April 2, 2010 at 1:46 am

Dude. I just went back and read the comments in the previous post, as well as the other blogger’s post. I wish I hadn’t.

First off, your April fools joke made me laugh. How anyone took your joke as an insult is beyond me. You don’t eat pork…therefore…it would be comical to think of you ordering a pulled pork sandwich. END OF STORY! To think that anyone (and apparantly there were quite a few) took your post as a direct insult to their own eating habits is absurd. Its also crazy to think that anyone is coming to read the fitnessista as if it were the bible and mimicking every single thing you do. I say this as someone who credits you with turning my life around, losing weight, building self esteem and self worth, not to mention that you helped me realise that I’m allergic to dairy. I think you are amazing and you have taught me SOOO much! But one of the most important things you’ve taught me is that you are you, and I am me. We each need to find out what works for ourselves. I read your blog religiously and I try new foods that you recommend, but I also branch out on my own and discover what works for my body. I’ve never once felt that your blog is pushy or demanding. I’ve never thought you were judging others for how they eat or how little they excercise. Instead, I’ve always thought you were an amazing inspiration and an entertaining blogger. Please keep doing what you’re doing. You may have haters coming out of the wood work today, but please remember that there are far more people out here who truly admire you. You’ve changed my life. Seriously. And if you’ve done that for me, I can’t imagine how many others you’ve helped. It would be such a shame to lose that because of a few folks who are obviously feeling a little self conscious about their eating habits.

And for the record, me and my dairy allergy self had a big ol’ milk shake last night to sooth a sore throat. And I’m not ashamed to admit it. So there. 🙂

Oh my gosh! I was away from my computer today and when I finally checked out the blog world I was shocked to see all of the stuff going on up in here. Gina, I’m sorry that you had to deal with all of this needless drama today. Even though this is a open environment and everyone is free to express their opinions, I am deeply saddened to hear all of the negative energy coming from the comments section. Lighten up girls (I really doubt that many guys would even get worked up over this type of thing.) We are not in highschool any more.

I wish that everyone would be less judgmental of what they themselves eat as well as what other’s eat. I think that all of this comes back to issues with poor self esteem. If you feel good about your self and your choices, you are less likely to judge what others do because you are not reflecting your own negative self thoughts on others. Please everyone, appreciate what Gina does for us (healthy ideas, positive energy, and good laughs) and work on making positive choices for yourselves!

i looooooooved your joke!!! i thought it was hilarious…..so did my hubby. its hard not to take comments personal, when theyre obviously directed towards you. some people are just extremely serious……exactly why i keep my jokes to a minimum on facebook. id get private messages about, i dont know….using the word “crap”.
im really sorry your post was taken in such a way with some people.
for me at least, it bumped you up on my list of coolness.
i wish i had thought of something as amazing!

why do i always forget about april fools??

p.s. i thought the sandwich looked really yummy.
